On November 16th we had the chance to share some time with the students of the Honcho Elementary School, we created an activity in which they would have to think about what makes them be who they are, it was so interesting to see them creating their paintings using their own shape as traced on paper as a canvas, some of them are just happy kids, in other of the paintings kids will let out their sadness or dark feelings, it was such an amazing and nutritious experience, I loved walking around the classrooms and getting questions from the kids about how to make different colors, or asking them about their painting. Plus we had the chance to talk about Mexico and share our culture with them, we were treated as if we were very important people, they received us with Mexican music and all the kids screaming “¡Hola!”, while we entered the gym and walked towards the stage, the feeling was so beautiful I couldn’t hide my happy tears. But what really made me happy was knowing some of the kids found a way to let go their sadness. Yesterday felt like the start of a whole new me. Even though I’ve been actively and very consciously taking steps toward my vision and future self, and career dreams, yesterday was that push I needed to FEELING it happen! You know, that difference between planning and doing, foreseeing it to feeling it in action?! 💥. . I am volunteering at my children’s school as an Art Docent this year, which to some is a ho-hum endeavor but to me is a strategic step towards my dream. 😌 While shopping for supplies on I decided to tap into local resources.
