"Stolen Moments" by Oliver Nelson
off his 1975 album of the same name
Stolen Moments was the last album Nelson recorded
before his death of a heart attack later that year at age 43
as sound takes up a large chunk of my life now i tend to think about it a lot. which is why i assign practically all of my ocs a musical instrument. tobie here is on keys! synths and pianos and such were really the first things that caught my attention in music. in this piece they're playing on a wurlitzer electric piano - one of my favourites in the realm of keys. big part of Supertramp's sound (one of my favourite bands)
currently my favorite instrument that exists is an Electric Piano like a Rhodes or a Wurlitzer. Like they're SO pretty, and just have this wonderful little overdrive to them. ngfhgnfh
like RWBY fans BMBLB by Jeff Williams is an E Piano, like that main riff is. That main riff in Dancing in the Moonlight by King Harvest is an E piano, Wait for the Moment by Vulfpeck,
its just a wonderful WONDERFUL instrument and i wish i had 8 thousand dollars to drop on one, so i can be perfectly mediocre at them.
"I borrowed a Wurtlizer and just spent a few days improvising on it and recording everything into a tape machine. This was one of the first ideas that fell out. My music generally has a lot of layers, but with Diamonds, I wanted to strip it right back - I wanted to keep it really sparse and simple. A lot of the time it’s the music that comes together very quickly that ends up being my favourite. Sometimes you can say more by speaking less. Hope you like it!..."
