I'm a bit late to the party with this because shipping to Australia + being away over the holiday period, but I'm here to say that I believe the first volume of Egmont Manga's 'Wedding Peach Luxury Edition' re-release is likely to make a solid addition to any fan's collection.
The page and print quality is easily the best available for Yazawa's original Wedding Peach manga anywhere in the world right now and the hardback presentation is quite lovely. I'm not in a position to judge the quality of the translation (I did 3 years of German in high school lol, so I can just read a kids' book like this and that's about it), but the overall presentation of lettering etc. is easily at current industry standard in this volume.
This hardback release contains what was originally volumes 1-3 of content from the Ciao-serialised Wedding Peach manga series. A second hardback will conclude the series in April 2024.
Easily the biggest drawback with this release is the cost of these volumes. 30,00€ is NOT cheap and with a label like 'luxury edition' it's obvious Egmont are gunning for older collectors who want to upgrade their original German paperback print from a couple of decades ago. This means anyone just wanting to check the series out casually is unlikely to engage with this release based on cost alone.
I do think you get decent (though not amazing) bang for your buck if you're an existing fan, but that's very much a niche market. Similarly, I don't think this release is likely to win over anyone who has never liked Wedding Peach in the past, it's nicely presented but there's no colour pages or anything else special included and the plot is still, well, Wedding Peach so I doubt it'll bring over a new generation of fans based on that alone.
Still, I'm glad this re-release exists and I'd love for the US market to do something similar though I know that's quite unlikely.

Star Wars w wersji mangowej!
instagram

Marabelle Macaulay and her gorgeous hair from Ikeda Riyoko’s Collage (コラージュ, 1978), side story to Orpheus no Mado.
This manga was published in Seventeen in two parts (May and June 1978). It's about Wolfgang von Emmerich, the creepy kid, coincidentally meeting his sister Marabelle years later, and, uh, falling in love with her and starting an incestous train wreck that'd last for three generations.
Sure, Orumado also had its COINCIDENCES and FATE moments, but the amount of COINCIDENCES and convenient truths coming to light in this 125-page side story were too much for my taste. The entire thing feels like a soap opera, but with gorgeous art.

Oh Wolfie, don't look at me like that.
Apparently, this manga was included at the end of some Claudine editions, in an edition of her collected works (Shiroi Egmont one), and is also available as an e-book. ~~Don't look at me like I read it from the French scans...~~

Maybe you can work with @negativelegend to make a "What is Nordic Manga" video? Talking about the different ones and they can throw in "subtle" hints that they can be filled into the survey over at Seven Seas Entertainment..! This just if both of you want to of course! All I can say is, thank you for making Dragens Øye, it's amazing!
Thanks for the suggestion! And for all the other suggestions of how to gain more attention around my comic <3
Even though it might not look like it from the outside, my publisher is working very hard to make the best promo opportunities happen for me and the others, and this year they even got a PR team involved! We also have agents working in different countries to help us get translation deals, and whenever I suggest a publisher to them, they report back that they're already in touch😂
So right now I just lean back and work hard on book 4 while knowing that Egmont is doing an amazing job at promoting my work <3
(Of course, if a youtube or podcaster contacts me I'll consider doing it, but I'm not gonna go around asking for it, at least not now that I have my hands very full trying to finish book 4 for an early fall release!)

Can you share about a fictional character you really really like and why you adore them? (Any series but if you can specify a title with the character name it'd be super cool!) I love seeing people gush about fictional characters they love. It makes me happy to see the positivity.
Personally even though I often have niche interests, I have very normie opinions about them, like I usually don’t get super attached to characters anymore XD
I’ll talk your ear off about Oppfinneren though! This is a comic series an old mutual of mine wrote, book 1 will be published in English soon, and book 2 was recently released in Norway. Good disabled representation, interesting story, and fantastic art which extreme detail.
Check this out!

Ascendance of a Bookworm Fanbook 4 Q&A [1/?]
This translation is not supposed to replace the official releases of the series. Please purchase the official fanbook when it becomes available!
Contains spoilers for Part 1 & 2
Ⓠ Where is the room that Myne was taken to after she fell ill at her Baptism ceremony?
Ⓐ She was taken to an empty room meant for laynobles in the south part of the noble's section. If you look at the floor plan included in Fanbook 1 or Part 2 of the manga, it would be the third room from the left of the southernmost row of rooms.
----
Ⓠ At the end of part 2 volume 1, Myne claims that this is the first time she learns the High Priest's name. Is that true? Do the High Priest's attendants never call him by his name?
Ⓐ Yes, that’s true. Before he became the High Priest, Ferdinand’s attendants would call him by his name, but when he took up the position, they started calling him "High Priest". Likewise, the previous High Bishop Bezewanst was always addressed as "High Bishop" within the temple. So, Myne likely never had a chance to learn his name. The Blue Priest Egmont, who holds no position, is addressed as "Brother Egmont".
----
Ⓠ In Part 2 Volume 1 Ferdinand lent Myne a handkerchief with his name embroidered on it. Did he embroider it himself? If not, who did it and why?
Ⓐ He had his name and crest embroidered onto it to make sure it would not be mistaken for someone else’s when being washed at the temple. The embroidery itself was done by a seamstress at his request. Ferdinand didn't embroider it himself.
----
Ⓠ In Part 2 Volume 2, Myne is told that education will be vital to protect herself, and given harspiel sheet music she must learn to play by the High Priest. However, she doesn't seem to have any thoughts on the musical score. Are the scores perhaps formatted the same way as in our world?
Ⓐ No, they are formatted quite differently. But, considering that the letters and culture are different, it only makes sense that the sheet music looks different too, right? Piano scores are formatted differently than those of traditional Japanese instruments, so I don’t think it would be a surprise that Ehrenfest’s sheet music looks incomprehensible at first glance.  Especially in Myne’s case, while she may lament her inability to read books, she would lament her inability to read sheet music…… But there is a scene where she asks to be taught how to write sheet music.
----
Ⓠ I think a female knight who likes shumils participated in the trombe hunt, because Myne spotted a “rabbit with wings” among the highbeasts. However, considering there was no mention of this, does that mean she could not distinguish between the male and female knights? Is this because the design of their full-body armor must be the same?
Ⓐ If one has a rather large chest, it may be noticeable. The design of the full-body armor is made uniform when it is taught to all students following the Knight’s Course.

I don't normally keep up with anime/manga news that isn't in Japanese or English, but this German announcement is worth mentioning now that I'm home.
Egmont Manga have scheduled the Wedding Peach manga by Yazawa Nao for a high-quality, large-format re-release in autumn (for the northern hemisphere). The series will be published in two premium hardback volumes, a first for the Wedding Peach manga adaptation.
However, it is unclear if this "complete" format is inclusive of the 7th volume or not (this volume being a different take on the story which is not a continuation of the first 6 volumes and never received a paperback release in Japan -- I go into it here).
Egmont Manga previously released the Wedding Peach manga for German fans in paperback format over 20 years ago and it was this version which was used as the basis for the VIZ Media English-language release in North America.
Tumblr media
I'll be honest the first volume preview image on the company website looks very nice, I'd honestly love a copy but I only did 3 years of German in high school so I think I'd be out of my depth!
I hope fans with better language skills than yours truly will support this release because it's the first big re-release the manga has received anywhere in the world!

Perfect World 06 by Rie Aruga
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I would have given this volume around 2.5 stars but then the end happened and convinced me to continue reading this series. I’ll be honest here, the series started glorious and very promising but since Ayukawa and Kawana broke up, it’s kinda going downhill. It’s still cute and stuff and I still hope for them to get a Happy End but the point is, I don’t really see any development. And this only serves to reduce my interest to go on reading. Unfortunately.
Kaede and her boyfriend are in the center of attention and I’m certain, they’ll remain on this position for some more chapters. The problem is, I find their storyline a little bit over the top and I’m pretty sure, sooner or later Kaede’s death will be part of the plot. Of course, this is how life can turn out and we can’t ignore the complicated and sad sides of life but it just sometimes feels as if this series tries to compensate the lack of disabled protagonists (and people in wheelchairs) in any fictional story by giving us an overload of them. I mean, I’m in a wheelchair too but that doesn’t mean I know a ton of other disabled persons. Maybe it’s due to Ayukawa’s profession, I understand that. Still, the more chapters I read, the more over-presented and dramatized they seem.
Uff. This is hard. I seem to complain so much but I nonetheless don’t plan to drop this series because I have hope for things to entertain and touch me as much as they did at the beginning. Here’s to love.

So I was in Germany and noticed, that their edition of BSD vol. 1 comes with ‘Kunikida notebook’. It was too hard to resist.
Tumblr media
The notebook is a thin one with blank pages and occasional manga frames. I think it was offered in Japan as a bonus to something (vol. 3? Young Ace? I cannot find that).
Tumblr media
There is also a card with Atsushi profile on the back (the same one as in manga vol. 2).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Apparently my German level is ‘Hey, I know that word!’, so I can’t say anything on the translation. Looks like they couldn’t use the title, under which ‘No Longer Human’ was published in German (’Gezeichnet’ probably means ‘Marked’ here, but I am not completely sure), so they made their own translation, which is close to original title. There are also short on-page comments explaining writers and abilities references.
I am not completely happy with the use of fonts and some of the sound effects, but the printing itself is beautiful!
