so to answer my own question, yes american girl is releasing more than just january's birthstone, but they're not actually individual dolls, just outfits modeled on truly me dolls

of course they're expensive but they are pretty at least. not sure how i feel about july's .. it's just not my style, though i guess the doll that models it plays a big part in how you see the outfit. the pigtails feel really random and i think it's just too monochromatic particularly for whatever cowboy vibe is going on here

yesterday while i was waiting in line in the food bank i was listening to music and remembered this video, i used to listen to this a bunch a few years ago, now this does seem a little silly to admit but i actually did not know about paradise lost until recently, (my mom is very religious so im sure this is something she wouldnt have let me read lol) but!!! i got so happy remembering the title screen and realizing that this video references(?) paradise lost!!! i remembered always wondering why they picked that name as a title screen for the animation, its so nice to revisit this video now <3 !!

The artstyle of FE17 is so... I really do love it, it's very much laser targeted for the kind of thing I personally adore but I just... Don't feel it's a good fit for the FE franchise. It isn't medieval fantasy enough, it isn't dark enough, it just seems a little to fluffy and cheerful.

That also applies to the character designs, they just feel like a different game... But whatever! We get what we get! I'm 100% buying the game anyway so whatever bitching and moaning I may do Nintendo still gets what they want out of this.
