SURVIVOR FINALE TIME AHHH

My final predictions below the cut:

1. I think that Dee wins, for sure. She has the best edit for a winner, has had consistently good gameplay, and is in an excellent position. I could see Julie having a good chance of winning, but don’t see her making it to ftc. There’s also the red flag of her having no good personal content like Dee has had re: her possibly winning. So there’s that. I would be shocked if anyone else won, unless something insane happened.

2. Jake is a zero vote finalist. Yeah, sorry Jake Ily but I don’t see him getting a single vote.

3. Jake wins fire making. This is based on two possible foreshadowing shots of him making fire during the season. Could be a red herring but I think this could be his way to ftc.

4. Bitter jury members. This is a bit of a hope because I love the drama of a bitter jury, but based on the slight villainous tone that reba have gotten (especially Dee at certain points), and the way belo were completely eviscerated, I could see a couple people being upset at the reba members.

5. Julie goes home first. Based on her being the largest target and the fact that she has little/no personal content.

6. The third ftc spot is filled by Katurah or Austin. I’m leaning towards Katurah because she has more personal content than Austin. I don’t think either of them have much of a chance at winning. Katurah could have a minuscule chance of a. there is a bitter jury and b. she is sitting next to Jake and Austin.

7. The “a woman will win this season” quote (or whatever it was that was said) at the women’s retreat is correct and foreshadowing. A woman will win this season.

8. A lawyer won’t win. Probably. Based on that quote from earlier in the season that’s something like “nobody will be willing to give a lawyer a million dollars.”

9. Probably messy/unnecessary idol play by Jake. Either saving someone who had no chance of going home or playing it safe by using it on himself when it isn’t necessary. I’m here for him making a big move but unfortunately don’t see it happening based on his numerous previous attempts and terrible reads.

So overall:

Dee as the winner with Jake as a zero vote finalist, Katurah or Austin in ftc, and a couple of bitter jury members (please I love drama!).

in defense of emily's move last night

okay so basically i had the night to think abt it and tbh i rly should be studying and doing work for finals but i can't move on until i've said my comprehensive piece on this.

note: my opinions r not all original as i've watched the know-it-alls and have been occasionally checking the reddit but here are my thoughts:

bruce. emily knows bruce is a polarizing and erratic player. at the start of the episode, she vocalized that its very very hard to make a move with the belos because they are such a fractured group, specifically with bruce being the core of that rupture within belo. it would be completely out of character for her to say something so logical at the top of the episode then, later, do something completely contradictory.

katurah. at the sanctuary, she watched katurah throw bruce under the bus and immediately reveal his lie about the idol. while i don't necessarily fault katurah for doing that, it also showed emily that katurah and bruce were simply never going to work together. if they can't even pull together to tell a single lie, why would she move forward with such an unconnected pair?

women. she keeps the women in the game. side note, i know a lot of people have hated on emily for ratting out the all-womens alliance in the kellie boot episode but in kellie's exit press with rob c, she said that the women's alliance was basically a non-factor and almost no one, at that time, thought it was real so...take that how you will. anyway, this point is mostly speculation on my part and, in all honesty, is likely to be completely disproven in the next episode but there has been a lot of focus on drew + austin + emily as the trio she's most tightly entangled with. however, at the sanctuary, there was a lot of talk about a woman winning the game and big bonding moments between the women. i'm a bit of a edgic tin hatter but why would they keep that in the show if a woman wasn't going to win or if the women don't come together in some way? maybe, because of the reward, emily is now seeing a path forward with dee + julie or even katurah. by eliminating bruce, she keeps the women's numbers up against the mens. **NOTE: this is pure speculation and i'm going to be hella embarrassed when that doesn't happen next week but, hey, a girl can dream, i guess. so much of my survivor watching experience is pure delusion!**

jury management. emily has been jury managing her ASS off. she is leveraging her position as the sole lulu left to disseminate information to people on the bottom and i LOVE it. stephen pointed out that her brutal honesty really worked with jake in last nights episode. she basically told him the information he needed to hear about drew targeting him (which, in turn, strengthened her relationship with jake as he had been desiring both a human and game connection) while also not being the one to make a move either way. she said "i'm in a good position right now so i can't." if anyone else had said that, jake probably would've gotten pissed at them but he understood where emily was coming from as she is the lone lulu left the game. furthermore, it seems from the edit that the jury is giving her sole credit for the bruce move (deserved, honestly) which bruce will probably only echo when he gets to ponderosa as she, seemingly, had been the one to convince him not to play his idol. i think she's been using the adam klein brutal honesty strategy to great effect. shes probably doing it better than adam did it, honestly lmfao. it may blow up in her face if drew and jake come together to compare notes but right now it seems to be working well.

finally, timing. i think that if she pulled trigger on the julie move, it would've been way too early. by getting rid of julie this round, she would open herself up as a target to dee + drew + austin, who probably all see katurah and jake as more of a goat than they see her to be. she would've revealed herself to a) be against reba (which dee is staunchly and vindictively against) and b) the most strategic person of the last three non-reba remaining. if she pulled the move against julie then, at best, for the next round, she could force a tie with katurah and jake but honestly they seem more interested in being the fifth reba than working against the power alliance so that wouldn't be ideal either. i think that by holding back, she's hoping to find and exploit a crack later in the very endgame. whether there even will be a crack remains to be seen.

tldr; i can't say with 100% confidence that financial analyst emily flippen will win the game but i think her move last night to vote out bruce is being way over-hated and i can honestly see a lot of merit and her thinking behind it. she's a logical player and, given the cards she has, i think it was a pretty logical move.

Last movie: It's still Love Tactics 2 on Netflix, not watched any movies since the last post.

Last reading: Still working on The Power of Imagination: The Neville Goddard Treasury, but also on Wednesday I found my copy of Mutant Messages Down Under which I last read about 10 years ago and would like to again.

Sweet/Spicy/Savory: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ As I said on the last one, if I'm not about to die it's not spicy enough! My heat tolerance is extremely high and most things people think are spicy I don't think they are and then everyone looks at me like I'm crazy.

Last thing I googled: Loki Beaker 😂 'cause I took that quiz and then googled him to see if the quiz was on to something or not

Current obsession(s): Survivor US S45 seems to be the thing I look most forward to right now, I love Once Upon An Island on youtube and while I don't participate in Edgic myself I like seeing other people's Edgic charts. Also this is minor but obsessed now with watching the date because my cooling tray stopped working and I ordered the same one but it won't arrive til the 20th and I probably still will but a part of me doesn't trust playing sims until the new one comes, just to be easy on my laptop. Also George Ergem (George Ergemlidze), his song If You Hear Me was in a video I watched of artists someone wanted to represent Georgia at Eurovision a year or two back and at the time I added it to a playlist I titled "songs I wanna remember I like" and I rediscovered it a few days ago and I've since taken the time to listen to his other stuff which I'm very bad about remembering to do with like 95% of artists I discover tbh. I think Stolen Skies that I mentioned earlier is my favorite.

Currently working on: Nothing atm, since I finished and posted the myne door defaults yesterday. In my post about that quiz I mentioned I would possibly make a Moyo simself for Loki. I might do that now while I'm not doing much, since I've got some errands to run later and can't play but I can muck around in bodyshop. The thing is... I've got purple hair atm, so depending on what cc I currently have this may be a larger project than just making a sim 🤔 Also, I don't know if I really feel like staring at pictures of myself long enough to make the face like mine 😅

I think one of the most fascinating things about the sudden "edgical girl" boom of 2010s magical girl anime is the fact that around the same time, we started seeing other countries doing their own takes on straight forward magical girls or making media inspired by it. From mainstream media to smaller indie projects.

Episode 12: "michael and alex and i are FULLY FUCKING VIBING like can we just get an escape pod to leave the game together"—Kaleigh

In this round: Michael is considered a traitor for flipping on an alliance where nobody asked for his input; Champ goes all the way in Masochism, earning her a slew of disadvantages, including the reveal of her Hot Giiiirrrlllzzzz alliance with Zee and Jack; Zee gets immunity by proxy; an anesthesia-addled Michael shares the details of his chaos idol with his alliance a half hour before tribal and they manage to decode it, using it to flip the vote onto the majority alliance; eman tries to vote herself but in lieu of that, volunteers to go to Purgatory

Earlier today, I sent the following message to the VL.

"Ugh, the ETHICS of it all!"

I was torn between three votes: Michael, Alex, and Colin.

Michael was the obvious vote - he betrayed EVERYONE (on our side).

Colin was the strategic vote - and also an absolute snake-in-the-grass.

Alex - Alex was the vote causing me angst. I wanted to keep my word to him. I did. Not just because I don't like striking first (which is terribly gendered behavior and I need to get over it) but also because I just do. As I've said before I wanna play a heroes game.

But here's the deal, yo! And I've said it before.

I'm not gonna strike first, but I will strike back. (And this goes double when it's someone I care about)

Now, obvs. I forgave Jack for two reasons. 1) Cuz he's playing to my ego and calling me 'auntie' and I'm a superficial slut and 2) because I truly believe the guy doesn't have a malicious bone in his body and he got played.

I will also add that I obviously would've had an issue voting against (for?? what preposition works here) Kaleigh as well even if she hadn't been immune.

(SIDENOTE - Fuck me with a rusty pocket knife I just read the challenge)

But - Kaleigh and Alex voted against me here . . . and that means all bets are off. I didn't write their name before, and I wouldn't've, but I have no problem doing so now. Probably moreso Kaliegh than Alex as she stole my 1/2 an extra vote (albeit Alex told her about it).

I like when previously difficult ethical dilemmas are rendered easy. So thanks, ya'll.

I am 0 for 3 in trusting my gut this week and if I were even 1 for 3 I would be in such a different spot in this game. So that kind of sucks to think about. Kaleigh has an idol and if I was right with my intuition on Eman MAYBE there's still hope but it doesn't feel like anyone from the other side is gonna try and shake things up (or talk to me today LOL) who knows what will happen. Whatever. The chat between me, Kaleigh, and Michael last night was the most fun I've had in this game so far so I'm glad that happened before one of us potentially goes.

Things are getting dicier as the game continues on. I’m gonna have to make a choice to flip but tonight is not the night to do it especially with the amount of disadvantages I’ve got going on. Michael has saved me once so I feel like I owe him at least to know if folks are gunning for him.

Zee

See, people think I'm not perceptive, or that I don't notice things, but my anxious ass is constantly thinking. I'm pretty sure that I'm the one being left out of the most conversations happening in this game right now. The only (active) alliance chat I'm in right now is Hot Girlz, but it's late in the game, there's definitely more Alliance chats out there, and aside from the fact that I need to step up my game, it's kind of making me think about who's aligning with who. Right now I'm pretty sure Tony and Michael are working together still, it's smart too since nobody would expect them to be working together, and it means Tony would have the power to flip whenever he wants. Eman and Champ and Tony i think are working together closer than she's leading me to believe, but only because nobody but Champ told me about Tony losing a vote, so she had to know somehow. This has got me thinking that I'm gonna have to step up my gameplay and maybe choose my loyalties a bit better. Obviously Kaleigh Michael and Alex are working together still, but everybody kind of knew that already.

I think i need to put in more work with the rest of the tribe, and maybe get some alliances going, since I'm not in a great position right now. I'm honestly not in too many alliances and that's kinda upsetting. Kaleigh and I have a weird Romeo and Juliet thing going on where we're both in opposing alliances but we're still talking tea about past shit or cool stuff the others have done during tribal or just in the game in general. I'm hoping maybe there's the chance for she and I to start working together again, but who knows.

Okay, let's think this through because I have nothing else to do between now and my 9AM flight and I may have had one-too-many cans of wine.

Given: There's no way to win this challenge.

Proposition: I have to get the least worst option.

We are now at 8.

People I am pretty sure are "on my side"™️ - Zee - Champ - Tony

People on "the other side"™️ - Michael - Alex - Kaleigh

Here's where things get interesting. Jack is a free agent though I think he's burned his bridges mostly because he was played and who would like that. BUT at the same time he might be aware he's on the bottom on his alliance.

And Colin is in purgatory and I wouldn't put it past him to send a disadvantage if not to me to my side.

So, what's a human to do.

Option A - fuck immunity, pray you wind up in purgatory where you can either send advantages to your side or fuck up the other side because you sure as shit don't wanna wind up on the jury, but at the same time it's pretty certain you're going to be voted out if somehow "The Other Side"™️ can garner enough votes.

Option B - Fight like hell for immunity and take whatever stacked disadvantages come with it. Even if those stacked disadvantages mean losing your vote. Even if those stacked disadvantages mean potentially fucking yourself over for future rounds.

Now. . . wouldn't it be funny if "The Other Side"™️ knows that you're fighting like fuck for immunity . . . because, after all a) you need it and b) you're the type of person who will fight like hell and c) you're also the type of person who will fight like hell for their people and the prospect of a SECOND immunity is extraordinarily tantalizing.

So, in order to try to rob you of that advantage someone on "The Other Side"™️ also steps up.

And wouldn't it be funny if I didn't.

And they have, in so doing basically thrown one of their own to the wolves because only one is not immune.

Wouldn't that be funny.

Anyway, I haven't decided what I'm doing yet - because mostly I have to decide where the line between martyr and criminal mastermind lies (somewhere south of "never go up a Sicilian when death is on the line")

And also because then I'll have to immediately decide to whom I'm giving the immunity - a long time ally or a chaotic choice that also seems rational (perhaps Jack as a reward for sticking with me?)

And whether I'm willing to have potential disadvantages from Colin stacked on top of whatever disadvantages I earn in exchange for immunity.

Holy hell.

I think I may have just calmly and rationally talked myself out of going for this immunity. There may actually be far more to lose than to gain, and a lot of my day job includes trying to convince people to not fall for the trap of short-term-ism, which is what this challenge is.

But it's not scheduled until tomorrow afternoon, so I have more than enough time to try to argue myself into another decision . . .

Again doing confessionals so last minute, anyway LMFAO kinda iconic for 2 immunities right away but yeah I’m for sure Screwed going forward. Hopefully this next vote goes according to plan and there’s not any extra votes or steel votes honestly I would love for a rock draw because I’m safe the end so let’s spice things up. Anyways hope I’m not getting too cocky cause I’m definitely not next.

Survivor US3: Africa Edgic & Confessional Count

I am actually a big fan of this season, as the stretch from episodes 3-8 contains some of the best survivor moments/storylines ever, and especially of this era of Survivor. Also, the edit is really balanced, and all of the 16 castaways have at least one moment of theirs to claim as their own. The end gets a little predictable, but from the final 5 onwards the story setup in the early days really pays off in a really big way. Would definitely recommend, 8.5 out of 10!!!!
