That night he dreamed of the feast Ned Stark had thrown when King Robert came to Winterfell. The hall rang with music and laughter, though the cold winds were rising outside. At first it was all wine and roast meat, and Theon was making japes and eyeing the serving girls and having himself a fine time…until he noticed that the room was growing darker.

geats already has a setup where character death seems inevitable (which is probably a good thing at this point in rider's history, we don't need 47 guys running around at once) and the christmas thing is a full blown meme at this point so i know what to expect, i just hope takahashi uses a little more tact this time around

1.3 Verse (Lukhege) - By the Union’s Will
Smoke clogged my lungs. Through fading vision, I saw Riversal’s lifeless body curled up on the floor, the fear frozen in his dull, wide-open eyes. ...Where was Laum? Where was Leonard? Why weren’t they here? I had dreaded, knew that they were the ones responsible for this: This warfare among those under the same banner. Our camp and home set ablaze. My death. And for what? The whims of a dying dragon? How awful. Awful, awful, awful. The Union had undoubtedly already done off with the two of them; I was certain, but I didn’t feel glad as I thought I would have, in the past. As much as the hate coursed and burned through my veins with increasing furor the more my vision grew dark, I had always thought we’d die together. As a family. Laum, who I had grown strong enough to teach wisdom and lift on my shoulders, who’s bright smile I had looked forward to at the end of each day of trial and exhaustion, and Leonard, who would always welcome me back with a warm voice after our disagreements no matter how bad they were, as if nothing had ever happened. I had thought that disagreements were all they would ever remain, and yet- My eyes close. The sharp, jabbing pains of the blackened blood that coated my hand and side fall into numbed nothingness. Faintly, a soldier yells something undecipherable in the distance and steel against gravel sounds beside me in the dark. They killed us all. Even if I hate them, I still wish... ...Riversal’s body, still warm, bumps under my limp heels as I feel myself being lifted and dragged through the war-torn inferno. My throat grows tight for a different reason as I grow more distant from what I knew was the last sight I would ever have of him. “Stay strong, boy. We can still save you yet!” ... Looking back, I wish I could have died there.
....
1.3 VERSE FOR LUKHEGE - BY THE UNION’S WILL.
An alternative off-shoot of the Drakengard 1.3 Verse in which Lukhege, the sole survivor of the massacre on Leonard’s brothers, grows and works as a soldier of Union. Though his beliefs are firm in their philosophy and his blade merciless, that fear of following in his brother’s footsteps looms over him like a shadow under his new family’s watchful eye...
Unlike all other verses where Lukhege is 12-13, he will be 15-17 in this verse.
Lukhege is unaware that his older brother, Leonard, is still alive. He does not regard nor speak of him kindly.
Despite his hidden fear of the Union, Lukhege is a genuine supporter of the enslavement of the dragon race and “punishment” of those deemed heretics and traitors to the Union (No matter whether or not he falters or shows any form of reluctance to carry this out by his own hands). No matter what, he regards the Union as his home and family.
He carries deep scars following the events of Leonard’s betrayal that resulted in the deaths of his younger brothers, Laum and Riversal, and the abuse from the Union that had followed in both “testing his loyalty” and training shortly after. Lukhege will not admit to this, and will deny the cause of his brother’s deaths if not avoid talking about them altogether.
If there are any questions regarding Lukhege, 1.3, or this verse, please let me know via asks or DMs (Either Tumblr or Discord, if you have mine!)
Thanks to @voicelesshatred for the brainstorm! This verse wouldn’t be here without them <3

Fiona and Cake's first two episodes just cemented me in my opinon that we NEED more Teen/YA animation.
For most of 2000s/2010s the series has a choice of being either limited by a low age rating, which in turn can affect how they develop and resolve more mature topics or to become the "adult cartoon" edgefest where everything has to be vulgar becase "it's funny you know?". Both of these scenarios forced showrunners to trick producers with their original pitches (Steven Universe is "fun adventures with superhero women", Adventure Time is "lol random humour, don't kids love it?", Bojack Horseman is "a horse, but he drinks and is depressed, hilarious!") while sneaking in their more mature/serious idea through. I'm not saying these shows can't actively be both, because they can, but to me the sweet spot is truthly the Teen/YA rating, since it doesn't force them to go either direction.
Seeing Fionna and Cake show just BE was really refreshing to me. Real life adult issues; LGBT and queer identities being shown without worrying somone will clutch their pearls; blood, depression and mundane issues neither being "implied" or being butt of the joke, just existing and getting resolved at their own pace. It's not vulgar, but it's not exactly pure; not super dark, but also not cheery and "turn your brains off" fun. Just nuanced, perfect to tell, well, more nuanced stories.
This also takes away from fans pressuring the shows into molds they don't fit in. I've seen so many people "expect this kids show to be more serious with it's plot" when it was literally a TV-G/TV-PG show that's just supposed to be fun without delving into some dark, deeper meaning. Even people complaining Rick and Morty fell off since it does not resolve it's "grander plot" without taking into consideration that it might just want to focus on the jokes and vulgarity and grander plots were part of a extended joke.
Maybe it's my eastern european sensibilities where to me if there isn't actual porn or graphic murder on screen then it's considered "TV-G", but I think having more cartoon shows fall into that sweet TV-14 category is good, actually.

Regarding the people being suspicious of Eden thing, it brings to mind a quote from The Incredibles 2: "Politicians don't understand people who do good simply because it's right. It makes 'em nervous." Anon would argue a lot of people in fandoms today are the same: they can't stomach the idea that there are genuinely kind people in the world, because that "makes them feel bad" for not being the same. So, Eden can't GENUINELY be a nice person, because then "they look bad in comparison".
//All of this is actually very interesting because Teruko and Arei both have very similar logic in Chapter 2:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
//They have a similar sort of view that kindness, friendship and optimism are naive at best and actively harmful at worst. They've bought into the lie that reality is unilaterally terrible and everyone is an asshole out to get to you, and the only way to survive is to be an asshole right back.
//And it's definitely not for nothing, especially when you look at who says these things:
Tumblr media
//It's a perspective I've seen in a lot of people who've been beaten down and dealt with so much awful shit in their lives that kindness feels almost alien to them.
//I've seen a lot of real people make those same conclusions, and they often decide that someone being kind is either too stupid to realize what they think they know, or they have ulterior motives.
//And like I keep saying, Despair Time is telling us that this perspective is wrong.
//Teruko's trust issues have only isolated her more and more from the others, and left her with far less information to work with than she would've had if she cooperated. Ace's antagonism and constant fights lead to him nearly getting killed. Arei actually did patch things up with Eden, and how that turned out...well, we can't really say for sure yet.
//It perplexes me how people have mostly latched onto the darkness and misery, and assume that this is some nihilistic misanthropic edgefest simply because the protagonist is the one who has to learn how to trust others. Or that David exists.
//Eden, meanwhile, is the person in the cast who best represents kindness and optimism, and instead of it being a two-dimensional platitude, it's her personal decision to be kind even though she knows how dark the world can be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
//I say all this as someone who has dealt with depression and anxiety for well over a decade at this point: Eden is absolutely right. Bottling up your emotions, withdrawing from others, and only thinking about yourself is a recipe for extremely unhealthy behavior.
//And approaching this from a writing perspective, if this were the grimdark story so many seem to think it is, characters like Eden usually die in the beginning to firmly establish the tone. They don't get scenes like this.
//Now, obviously I have no idea where the story is going to go from here, but I highly doubt that putting so much emphasis on Eden here is meant to signify that this is somehow going to prove Teruko right. On the contrary, I'm still certain this chapter will prove Teruko's decision not to trust anyone is far more dangerous and unhealthy.
//Either people didn't actually pay attention to what was happening or being said in the game itself, or they think that, because a character is kind, that somehow means they're going to be evil.
//I honestly think Eden is the least likely to be the culprit in this chapter. You can quote me on that and throw it in my face if I turn out to be wrong, but I'm sticking to it from here on out.

what is your story going to be about?
Oh uhhhhh ummm uhhh
So like uh
okay putting this under the cut because embaressment
It's basically a magical girl story with a space aesthetic-- the magical girls are Celestials who are stars with human bodies and reincarnate every time their vessel dies.
It's got a dead moon cult, a magical girl civil war, and a protagonist who is trying to prevent the ongoing apocalypse from getting worse and is very bad at killing herself.
I don't have a very good snappy summary just yet, as you can see :')
But basically it's kind of a personal story and it's about depression/suicide. I don't want it to be just an edgefest though-- I want it to be about reasons to live just as much as it's about people making very bad choices in their lives.
Here's the protag, Nicoe Dijkstra, the Celestial Polaris :)
Tumblr media
Don't let her smile fool you, this girl can fit just enough depression inside to give you whiplash--

Will this be a fun edgefest that doesn't take itself too seriously like Hellsing, or will it be a mediocre edgefest that sucked cock like Tokyo Ghoul?
Akame ga Kill is in the middle.
