Riley Poole showing up looking hot, bungling clues, saying "Albuquerque", and nearly dying is EXACTLY the kind of energy I wanted out of him appearing in this show. I was *delighted*

My favorite thing about National Treasure: Edge of History season 1 is that Joe Biden canonically died and they just NEVER mention it.
President Joe Biden's signature was noted as being on Kacey and Nate's fake FBI badges, so he was President at the beginning of the series.
In the season finale, the President that Jess meets is very clearly NOT Joe Biden (looks like a stand in for Kamala Harris)
So at some point in Edge of History season 1, Joe Biden died and Kamala Harris became President and no one EVER mentions it or brings it up. That's such a big thing for them to just NOT BRING UP, it's hilarious.

Thinking once again how in National Treasure: Edge of History, Joe Biden was canonically the president in the beginning of the series, and by the end he was not.

gotta say, my favorite part of the national treasure series was when the writers collectively decided to completely ignore that Rafael is an escaped convict from Mexico at the end. Just. Glorious. Truly unparalleled energy.

Living History in the Making
So today, 12th of September 2023, 26th of Elul 5783, in the week leading to Rosh Hashana, at 9:00 AM Israel time, The Supreme Court of Justice is going to open one of the most important hearings in it's history. An unprecedented full bench of 15 judges is gonna hear eight petitions against The reasonableness standard law, and the results of this hearing will be, to say the least, monumental.
The law was passed as an amendment to a Basic Law, which gives it a constitutional statues.
If the court will call to strike down the amendment, it will be the first time the High Court of Justice ever did such a thing and is in itself a highly dangerous move withing a vary unstable system. If they do not, it will leave the door open for the current government to go forth with it's plans, and we all know what that means.
And of course, it does not stop here.
Several ministers have declared that they will not obey the Court if they will declare that the law should be strike down, a thing that will push Israel into a full blown constitutional crisis.
The President of the Court, Judge Ester Hayut is set to retire in a month. Hayut has a history of pissing of some of the current ministers, for example she talked against the law that prevent the unification of Palestinians Families. The Government tried to push the hearing to after she leaves, in order to try and get a "better judge".
(Another point is that during this month Hayut will preside over the hearing against the law that prevents declaring the prime minister as Incapacitated. So even more reasons for them to want her out)
Today is a day that will be written about in history books. And I am frightened. My day will go as it is, knowing that the decisions they will make will change not only my life, but history.
Suddenly I understand why people start to ask for prayers.

Okay, so National Treasure Edge of History was SO much fun! It really kept with the fun vibes of the OG movie, I loved all the characters, the music was just as phenomenal as the movie, I guessed who was the bad guy but it was still a fun reveal when it happened, and I personally thought Agent Ross and Dr. Zeke were adorable. PLUS, we got a Riley cameo which was perfect. I 100% would watch more of this show.

Will I be creating Leverage: Redemption and National Treasure: Edge of History crossovers in my head because they both take place in 2022 an hour apart in Louisiana? Absolutely.
Imagine a Billie and Sophie confrontation. Breanna and Tasha bonding over hacking. Eliot being an overprotective dad to the Baton Rouge kids. Harry helping Jess become a citizen.

The thing about National Treasure, is that the villain has always had a cultural tie to the historic aggressors from whom the treasure was hidden.
In the first film, Ian was British and the treasure had been hidden by the Founding Fathers to keep the British out.
In Book of Secrets, Mitch was a white man from the South and it had been the confederacy who were looking for the gold.
But in Edge of History, they appeared to have broken this pattern. Billy is British while the historic bad guys for the Maya, Inca, and Aztecs were the Spanish Conquistadors.
However (series spoilers under the cut)
in episode 9 it was revealed that Agent Hendricks was the mastermind Salazar.
The actor who plays Hendricks is Armando Riesco and he's Puerto Rican.
While I don't know if Riesco has any Indigenous ancestry, I don't think it would be out of the realm of possibility to assume that Salazar's lineage could just be Spanish.
Thus, the pattern has been maintained throughout the franchise afterall!
