Found this old arrangement in my files, and figured I should share. Seeing as, um, I haven't posted any music on here for a while. Whoops?

Wait 翡翠 (hisui) is jade in Japanese
The Hisui (ヒスイ) region in Pokémon means jade???
Oh wait Bulbapedia says it might be also from 祕邃 (hisui) meaning hidden and profound which matches Sinnoh’s etymology (神奥 Shinnou…? It doesn’t list a hiragana transcription… Meaning mysterious and profound)
Whoa I never knew the etymology of the Pokémon region names. Also it seems all the city and region names are written in katakana despite being in Japanese?
Enju City’s name comes “from 縁寿 enju (longevity of relationship), 槐 enju (Japanese Pagoda tree), and 臙脂色 enji-iro (cochineal red)” while (in the English localization) Ecruteak City’s name comes “from ecru (light beige color) and teak (tropical hardwood)” (from the Ecruteak City’s wiki page on Bulbapedia)

I'm definitely going to regret this post, but Lugia, is not the leader of the Kantonian birds. THAT IS A MOVIE EXPERIENCE.
Ingame, Lugia has no relation to Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres hence it shouldn't count as a Trio Master.
Indirectly yes the cause of the Legendary Beasts was done by the storm it caused by mistake on that lightning strike, but Lugia must've felt horrible after that and feels responsible to not interact near humans.
" It is said that it quietly spends its time deep at the bottom of the sea because its powers are too strong." - Pokemon Gold dex description.
but here's an interesting description " It has an incredible ability to calm raging storms. It is said that Lugia appears when storms start." - Crystal.
A few theories I've seen being thrown around before was that " Lugia did it as an accident." or " Lugia and Ho-Oh fought one another."
People even stating that Lugia is dangerous and unpredictable but it really shouldn't be treated as such.
But notice how the people of Ecruteak City doesn't necessarily blame Lugia? Let alone mention it? Only on a few occasions where it does get mentioned or referred it doesn't seem as negative. Yes they may assume or call it fierce or strong but it's not it's being seen by players as a destructive force, yes the Dex descriptions made it that way, but its not in the story.
Meaning they knew what really happened as it was written down at the time. The Pokedex just write what it "see's or was written" reminder, computers are not always smart and sometimes copy paste the same information but gets it wrong.
in the animation for Pokemon Evolutions Episode 7, explaining some details.
Ho-oh guardian of the skies, roosts on the Bell Tower.
Lugia Guardian of the Seas, roosts on the Brass Tower *then* / now is the Burned Tower.
A lightning storm disturbed Lugia, the lightning struck the tower thus causing a fire. Lugia had attempted to blow away the flames but it would've spread, thus Lugia wanted the rain. The flames was extinguished. Lugia had left, in the morning hiding in the Whirl Islands. Awaiting for the day it returns to Ecruteak City.
Lugia being seen here, is shown as it did absolutely nothing to the tower Lugia was mostly resting and then suddenly alarmed by a storm thus it was a call to action.
I think it only left because it still feels grief about the 3 animals in the tower, yes the Beasts are still in the Tower as a reminder of their past that once was they seem to be guardians to both the Bell and Burned Towers after Ho-Oh ressurrected them to be Entei, Raikou and Suicune.
So really Lugia should be considered the indirect start of the Legendary beasts, while Ho-Oh is the one who brought them back.
If we ever get a Legends Johto, let us at least worship both Lugia and Ho-Oh, and explore their towers. Maybe let us pay tribute to them like oh my god let us even visit Celebi's shrine, let us leave offerings, if we leave enough offerings to Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Celebi what if we have a chance to create a traditional dance for all 3. I know I'm throwing Celebi into this, but I don't know I just wanna see a Celebi traditional dance. Lugia has the waves with silver feathers, Ho-Oh has autumn leaves. Celebi should have maybe a sparkly diamond with maybe cyan leaves theme like effect to represent that it's a Time Pokemon Guardian of the Forest.
It's not a Third Legendary, as it's a Mythical but Celebi should be represented with Lugia and Ho-Oh. Showing us that Lugia is not the cause, but the guardian that didn't manage to stop a storm that happened suddenly. The storm was an inconvenience Lugia was not the one to blame.

On New Year's in Ecruteak
New Year's is holiday celebrated all across the world, but here in Johto, Ecruteak City is known for its New Year's festival!
The Reincarnation Festival is what the New Year's celebration is known as locally, and commemorates the burning of the Brass Tower, and the reincarnation of the Three Legendary Beasts- Suicune, Entei, and Raikou. It's also a celebration of the bonds between people and Pokémon, and features a prominent theme of rebirth and starting anew.
The celebration starts a few days before the actual festival itself, which last for 3-4 days on average. The whole city decorates by hanging lanterns, and the vendors start to set up carts and stalls down the main roads! As Gym Leader I have a bit of responsibility with decorations and keeping Vendors in line, and I tend to host to Johto league, but my role in many of the proceedings is secondary.
Now on to the Festival itself!
The vendors during the festival most often sell Pokémon masks or food. The most commonly sold foods are sweets, Plum-filled rice balls, cotton candy, candied apples, ice cream, and kettle corn being available at almost every other stall! It's very common for Pokémon to be the ones serving the delicious treats. It's definitely an experience to get a Kadabra to get you your ice cream!
During the Festival the Kimono Girls perform an amazing show commemorating the history of the two towers here in Ecruteak. It's amazingly done, and I would recommend anyone come just to see it! Me and Gengar have never missed a performance.
And to the culture behind it.
Traditional wear is very common, though it isn't looked down upon to dress as you wish. Most people wear Yukatas (I usually stick to my sweaters) for the first day or so of the festival before switching to a Kimono on New Year's itself, for formality.
Burning incense can be found in most if not all homes, as well blue, red, and yellow paper lanterns. These represent the Brass Tower's burning, and the Legendary Beasts. Ho-oh and Lugia figures are also commonly set above doorways in hope of bringing their blessings of a prosperous year.
In Ecruteak New Year's is a holiday to spend with friends and family, and large home-cooked meals are often how this is done. Neighbors will often have large feasts with each other and share food. Fireworks are often lit off, and while it does pose some danger, we're strict about where and when, and Water-types are sent to roam the streets in case of emergency. Be friendly to these Pokémon, but don't feel bad if you don't have treats to share, they get plenty throughout the night.
My favorite part, however, is the Reincarnation. Every year, the bells at the top of Bell Tower are rung twice, once right before midnight, and once right after. This symbolizes the death of the previous year, and its reincarnation into the new year. It's a moment that is precious to me, and as of late, the honor of ringing the bells has fallen upon me. I'm incredibly proud of how I've grown under Bell Tower's teaching, and I hope someday I'll be able to show Ho-oh itself how far I've come.
While I've tried my best, it's very difficult to describe the festival, and above all I'd recommend coming to experience it yourself. I wish you all a Happy New Year's, and may Ho-oh bring prosperity on us all!

Since I’m reposting everything all over again, why not start with a one of my earliest attempts at on-site figure shoots? Trainer Gold has traveled the world with me, so when Sai and I made the trip back to Japan, I had to get shots of him in front Ginkaku-ji (銀閣寺) and Kinkaku-ji (金閣寺).
