The Goddesses and Echo The Gossip Nymph
“Why are you following me?!” the Nymph asks angrily as Persephone responds, ‘Why are you repeating everything you hear?” she asks Echo.
“Why do you care?! do you think I care, Aphrodite, is flirting with Desire?!” she yells as Aphrodite stammers to explain herself.
“I don’t care! I don’t care about your problems with hades and Minthe! I care about something way bigger!”
Persephone gasps as Echo knew about her problem with Minthe.
“Echo. You gotta stop doing this or you’re gonna get yourself killed.” a goddess beside Aphrodite and Persephone said.
“I’m not doing anything wrong!” echo exclaimed angrily at Y/n. “Yes, you are. You’re spreading rumors of Aphrodite having an “affair” with Desire of the endless and Persephone fighting Minthe over Hades!” Y/n exclaims back.
“Well...What about you?! You’re laying with Dream of the endless! behind Zeus’s back!” she yells and the goddess gasp.
“You have no proof of this and even if you did. I wouldn’t let you speak of it and it’s none of your business!” The goddess yelled at the nymph.
“I swear, by the Gods keep spreading these nonsense rumors Some God or Goddess is going to curse you!” Y/n yells as the nymph runs off.
“Just leave me alone or I’ll everyone your dirty little secrets!” Echo screams.
(After Hera steals Echo’s voice)
“Now, what have we learned?” Y/n said looking Echo dead in the eye. Echo looks sadly at her and looks down at her feet silently.

Thought about it and realized part of the appeal of the corinthian is that you don't have to look him in the eye

Headcanon 001 -- The Exhausted Echo
Created from the stardust of Dream’s left eye and therefore quite literally a part of him, Reverie has always felt a lingering connection with their Maker.  They are painfully devoted to Morpheus and exercise the utmost empathy at all times, perhaps having a greater unspoken understanding than most.  They know their King carries a heavy burden, so full and so empty both at once, and that he is very tired.  Despite their knowledge of this, they do not speak it with anyone.
When Dream was imprisoned by Rodrick Burgess and the Order of Mysteries, Reverie felt a jolt.  The severing of the connection was jarring and traumatic, having never experienced such a loss in all their creation.  Initially panicked, Reverie quickly regained composure, knowing that if Dream was gone, then someone had to keep things going.  Though they did not have anywhere near the power of the Lord of Dreams, they did their best, worked in overdrive.  Unfortunately, they could not do it all and many things fell through the cracks, some of their own threads frayed.  Morpheus had always kept the order, but Reverie was a guardian and guide, not a leader.  They could only keep the ship adrift rather than sinking to the bottom of a tumultuous sea.
While other dreams and nightmares left, Reverie was one of the very few who remained loyal, who had faith their Master would return.  In some ways, they could see where Dream was being held, but had very little power to do anything about it as guards were very focused and kept their minds occupied in further sleep precautions, living little room for daydreams at all.  Reverie even went so far as to cultivate Alex Burgess and Paul McGuire’s daydreams about one another, in hopes that Paul’s compassionate nature would influence Alex to release Dream.  Though unsuccessful, Reverie never stopped trying despite being overwhelmed with laborious tasks in the Dreaming.
With the ‘accidental’ marring of the binding circle, Reverie felt the trickle of their Creator’s consciousness returning, resounding swirls in their essence with renewed vigor--this only inspired them to continue working, unwilling to stop until Dream’s power had been restored.  Though they would have gladly sacrificed themself and the Fire Opal to provide Morpheus with whatever power he needed to retrieve his tools, Dream did not call upon them to do so, perhaps recognizing their services were still needed so he could focus on completing his quest.  Only when the Dreaming had been restored did Reverie finally stop, collapsing in their Sanctuary and abandoning their added responsibilities in favor of Morpheus fully taking up the reins once more.  Daydream’s recovery was slow...and is ongoing.
Though putting on a good face, Reverie is still quite exhausted after the whole ordeal.  They are doing their best to continue as things were prior to Dream’s incarceration, but the lingering fatigue remains coupled with ongoing disquiet in their heart, the residual damage caused by their separation from their Creator and the strain of firing all cylinders for one hundred years taking their toll on Daydream.
But they are doing their best.

He had to remind us who Morpheus is in Danish, but reluctantly. Ole Lukøje is such a goofy character in the Danish consciousness that it's jarring enough that he resorts to Danglish for Sandman instead, lol.

I just think it’s neat that The Sandman writers said, “You know what would be cool? Putting trans people in major roles in our comic books.”

One of the things that I have with my backstory of the Endless relates to my take on the 'chaos and pain' mentioned in A Winter's Tale:
And to the Source Wall, and how that bit of DC cosmology interacts with the rest, as well as Death's role as 'the one who defines and trumps all existence' (there's a phrase that might need to be written out of the English language).
In a metaphysical sense the Source Wall is the 'Fourth Wall' in the Morrison approach but I dislike everything Grant Morrison does with that. I view it as an Iron Curtain ringing the DCU and a means to entrap lesser-powered hostile entities and to fence the *real* wolves out.
Tumblr media
Death leaving her function for that time shattered the elements she does to hold Reality together, meaning the entities sleeping within the wall, a few of them, woke up. And in that time a few of the wolves, to speak, penned out by the wall got loose and got in and started having a merry old time.
Hence Death gets her first task to repair this thing and re-solder it back together. And in the process it also established one of the fundamental realities she does not least by consciously refusing to dwell on it. Her presence holds her functions cohesively together, in a setting where so many beings are, deep within them, ultimately living beings (including the very literal stars themselves).
The Source, incidentally, is also the Presence and the being of Christianity (mostly, with a smattering of Jewish and Islamic elements) in question, from whom the New God chieftain Highfather nominally draws powers the comics keep forgetting he has to fluff Darkseid. How that connects to the wall is a thing that's had a few dozen explanations, really.
This is not canonical, the nature of the 'chaos' is never entirely explained and that works perfectly for canon as it's a backstory that doesn't need an in depth explanation to work. For stories that center on Death as the protagonist instead of Dream it gives the decision she made, which in my view would be one of the hinges of her own identity and self-perception not least from the one time we hear her speak in her own voice in that one story, actual tangible results at the level mortals would register.
And it is that kind of result that also led to the Parliament of Stars in the first place, because the one Endless that really did leave her job in the time before the rules set limits on how much damage that could do broke reality in the process. It left lasting scars and memories on those entities old enough to know it happened and to set those rules.
Death refusing to attend the Parliament at all is why she gets saddled with being the sole person to repair the Wall, in a case of 'you refused to attend the thing caused by the thing you broke, then you get to clean up your own mess you made alone'.
