Anyone who imagines a Holmes-Raffles crossover would be Holmes vs. Raffles and not a collaboration between the two clearly does not know any of them.

Finally properly joining the Tumblr Book Club 👀 got my first letter from Bunny Manders today, already excited to witness the life of crime of these young gentlemen. I have next to zero knowledge of these stories, so I think this is gonna be interesting.

If anyone care Bunny was born in 1867. Which I work out because 'An Old Flame' he say he is thirty. I work out 'An Old Flame' takes place around about September of 1897. The year from 'No Sinecure' and 'A Jubilee Present' is 1897. 'The Fate of Faustina' is in August. 'The Last Laugh', 'A Catch a Thief' and 'An Old Flame' are implied to tale place in same summer.
Also he was 27 in 'The Ides of March'.

He was that terrible type, the Silly Cynic, his aim a caustic commentary on all things and all men, his achievement mere vulgar irreverence and unintelligent scorn. Ill-bred and ill-informed, he had (on his own showing) fluked into fortune on a rise in land; yet cunning he possessed, as well as malice, and he chuckled till he choked over the misfortunes of less astute speculators in the same boom.
— E. W. Hornung, The Amateur Cracksman
My god but does that describe people I’ve known in the business, investment, and tech worlds

Reread "The Ides of March" for, well, the Ides of March, and E. W. Hornung really got away with this, huh? Nobody was like "this doesn't sound like they're lock-picking to me"

[Image description: a versus graphic of A. J. Raffles from the E. W. Horsing books and Sly Cooper from Sly Cooper. Raffles is depicted in a grayscale engraving as a short man with curly brown hair kneeling in front of a door and boring a hole in front of it. Sly is a raccoon wearing a black eye mask and a blue outfit trimmed in yellow. He has a long hook and is leaping over something. /End description]

OK I didn't know amateur used to have a different connotation--it's important he's an amateur in that he's a professional but unlike the poorer sportsman he doesn't need to make his money through sports it's not his profession! His profession is crime
I did wonder why everyone seemed to be into what this amateur did.
OHHH THIS IS GREAT!! I never thought of that!! The Amateur part of amateur cracksman is that he's an amateur cricketer because he doesn't use his cricket to get any money!!! Fascinating thank you!! That's very clever Mr. Hornung very clever indeed.

RAFFLEITES, IT IS TIME!
The week leading up to the Ides of March will be dedicated to E. W. Hornung's stories about A. J. Raffles and Bunny Manders. The week starts on Saturday and above you have the official prompts list. The prompts are meant as inspiration, so you can use all of them, pick one or two, or disregard them and do your own thing! All sorts of works are welcome and encouraged - the main point is to celebrate the Raffles stories together as a fandom!
To participate, tag your posts with the official tag #rafflesweek2024. You can in addition use #rafflesweek to add your posts to the general collection of Rafflesweek works from past years.
A reminder that the official Raffles tag on all other days of the year is #crime and cricket, which of course also can be used in addition!
If you have any questions regarding participating in Rafflesweek, do not hesitate to send me a telegram.
Let's go a-Raffling! 💎
