New Ford E-Transit Cargo Van 2024 Models, Changes, Price
New Ford E-Transit Cargo Van 2024 Models, Changes, Price – Ford’s 2024 E-Transit full-size van may seem similar to its gas-powered predecessor, but it will be driven entirely by electricity and have a range of about 126 miles. All E-Transit variants are driven by a 266-horsepower electric motor that drives the rear wheels. While it will initially only be available as a cargo van, we anticipate a…

"India’s announcement that it aims to reach net zero emissions by 2070 and to meet fifty percent of its electricity requirements from renewable energy sources by 2030 is a hugely significant moment for the global fight against climate change. India is pioneering a new model of economic development that could avoid the carbon-intensive approaches that many countries have pursued in the past – and provide a blueprint for other developing economies.
The scale of transformation in India is stunning. Its economic growth has been among the highest in the world over the past two decades, lifting of millions of people out of poverty. Every year, India adds a city the size of London to its urban population, involving vast construction of new buildings, factories and transportation networks. Coal and oil have so far served as bedrocks of India’s industrial growth and modernisation, giving a rising number of Indian people access to modern energy services. This includes adding new electricity connections for 50 million citizens each year over the past decade.
The rapid growth in fossil energy consumption has also meant India’s annual CO2 emissions have risen to become the third highest in the world. However, India’s CO2 emissions per person put it near the bottom of the world’s emitters, and they are lower still if you consider historical emissions per person. The same is true of energy consumption: the average household in India consumes a tenth as much electricity as the average household in the United States.
India’s sheer size and its huge scope for growth means that its energy demand is set to grow by more than that of any other country in the coming decades. In a pathway to net zero emissions by 2070, we estimate that most of the growth in energy demand this decade would already have to be met with low-carbon energy sources. It therefore makes sense that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced more ambitious targets for 2030, including installing 500 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity, reducing the emissions intensity of its economy by 45%, and reducing a billion tonnes of CO2.
These targets are formidable, but the good news is that the clean energy transition in India is already well underway. It has overachieved its commitment made at COP 21- Paris Summit [a.k.a. 2015, at the same conference that produced the Paris Agreement] by already meeting 40% of its power capacity from non-fossil fuels- almost nine years ahead of its commitment, and the share of solar and wind in India’s energy mix have grown phenomenally. Owing to technological developments, steady policy support, and a vibrant private sector, solar power plants are cheaper to build than coal ones. Renewable electricity is growing at a faster rate in India than any other major economy, with new capacity additions on track to double by 2026...
Subsidies for petrol and diesel were removed in the early 2010s, and subsidies for electric vehicles were introduced in 2019. India’s robust energy efficiency programme has been successful in reducing energy use and emissions from buildings, transport and major industries. Government efforts to provide millions of households with fuel gas for cooking and heating are enabling a steady transition away from the use of traditional biomass such as burning wood. India is also laying the groundwork to scale up important emerging technologies such as hydrogen, battery storage, and low-carbon steel, cement and fertilisers..."

A Yandere! Wally Darling x Gn! Reader <3333
Warning(s): Mentions of staring, yandere wally, swearing, dimension transitioning
Synopsis: Yandere Wally finally found a way to communicate with dear [Y/n]!… Now how long will it take before he wants to see them in person?
[Y/n] stopped in their steps to the kitchen when their phone suddenly died in their hand. A groan escaped their lips as they turned on their heels to get back to their room to plug it in.
While they strolled to their room, they glared at their dead phone slightly, annoyed with the fact that it died before they could go get a snack.
As they walked into their destination, they noticed their little sibling in the room with them. They decided to disregard them as they went to their bed to plug it in.
After they plugged it in, nothing came up. Nothing. Not even the weird battery symbol it would give when it was plugged in. Just.. Nothing.
A shift came from the other side of the room and [Y/n] turned their head over to see their sibling. They were getting up to leave the room, presumably to hang out with their friends. After a small goodbye, they were gone.
That’s when the phone’s battery symbol turned on, before going off.
[Y/n] snickered slightly at the seemingly coincidental moment before sighing, “I guess you just wanted to work when they were out of the room.”
It was a rhetorical question in all, but all of a sudden the battery symbol turned on again, a bit longer than before, then turning off. It then turned on again, shorter. Turned off, turned on again with longer timing, and then the same thing happened again. Was it trying to use morse code?
“Well this might just be a silly idea but..” [Y/n] reached for their laptop and pulled up a morse code translator. “Could you repeat that again, please?” They felt weird, asking a phone a question vocally. Then it went of, a dash, a dot, and two more dashes. Then, a pause.
“Okay, so we have ‘y’. You can continue.”
A simple dot, nothing more. “.. ‘e’? Alright, continue.” Three more dots. “Y.. e.. s.. So you were just playing with me! How come? ..And who are you?”
After a round of looking very intensely at a charging phone screen, writing down letters, and pauses, they saw the message. “.. ‘Nothing you need to know about.. Neighbor’? Who calls somebody neighbor? …It seems familiar, though.” They shrugged, “What’s your name?”
Another round of morse code, another round of writing down letters. “.. ‘You’ll find out soon’.. Okay, you know I can’t just call you a weirdo on a phone, right? Which you are by the way, in case you didn’t know.”
More morse code. “Ha.. Ha.. Ha. Now you’re just being a creep. I’ll check up on you tomorrow, okay? I need to go get a snack before bed. Could you please let me get back on my phone?” And, as requested, the phone turned alive.
And as they quickly grabbed their phone and went downstairs, they didn’t notice the faint eyes burnt onto the screen.
TIME SKIP
A week or two went by since their first encounter, and Wally was loving the attention he was getting from [Y/n]. He had spent months, years, trying to connect to their world. And when he did, it was nothing short of amazing.
Oh how he wishes he could stop being this anonymous creep, and just come to their world with open arms, he’s sure that they would come running to him. After all, who wouldn’t? He’s Wally Darling.
His thoughts were cut short when a creak interrupted them. He jumped up and looked to the clock. 10 pm. Time to communicate with the love of his life! He smiled giddily, “Thanks, Home! What would I do without you?” Home squeaked in response, happy.
Wally got up from his red chair and walked towards his bed. As he sunk down onto the soft, plush cushion, he closed his eyes and pushed all of his thoughts towards communicating with [Y/n].
When he woke up again, he was in a pitch dark room. Yes! It worked again! All he saw instead of the darkness was a medium sized box of light, with the view of [Y/n] jumping onto their bed with their laptop and notebook. Oh geez, they were excited too!
[Y/n] moved their stuff into an organized area, and grimaced. They were starting to look forward to ending these.. visits. The weirdo on the phone kept asking them personal questions.. Weird questions.  They were planning to get a new phone soon, tomorrow, actually, one that wasn’t glitched with weird morse code. “Hey.. Uh..  What’s up?” Their voice was laced with uncertainty.
Morse code, writing down letters. They read the message out loud, “.. ‘Something’s wrong.’ …I guess there’s no point hiding the truth.. Weirdo on a phone, this’ll be our last visit together.” They seemed relieved to be saying that, “I’m getting a new phone tomorrow and it won’t have the weird glitchy thing, luckily.”
The phone stayed dark. No response. “Well, if you don’t want to speak to me from now on, that’s fine-“ Text appeared on the screen.
‘Well we can’t let that happen, now can we, Darling?’
“..Darling? That’s.. New.. but.. I’m going to unplug the phone now.. I don’t want anything to.. happen..”
‘Wait wait wait wait no no no nononoNONONONONO-‘
They unplugged the phone and sighed. It was finally over. Now, Is there anything that they could do in their free time? Ah, yes, the tv. They grabbed the remote and turned it on, showcasing all of the channels. Suddenly, it went dark.
“What the..” They clicked the tv remote a couple of times, trying to turn it off and on. They turned over to their laptop, same thing. Pure darkness. When they turned to their phone, all there was was just text.
‘Let’s continue the conversation, shall we? :)’
“What the hell..” Okay, something’s up. First the tv, then the laptop, and now the phone? Speaking of which, it’s unplugged, so shouldn’t it be.. I don’t know.. dead?
‘Here’s a question.. How would you feel if you just.. Came to my world?’
“Here’s an answer, I wouldn’t feel anything, since that can’t happen. Who are you, anyways?” More text popped up onto the screen.
‘Well, I guess you should know, since you’re going to be near me soon. The name’s Wally, Wally Darling. :)’
They leaned back drastically, “I do not like the sound of that first sentence.. But.. Wait.. Oh my god! You’re that weird muppet guy that’s been all over my for you page on TikTok!”
‘While I would rather not be called a.. “weird.. muppet guy”.. I’m glad that you know me, [Y/n]. :)’
“Okay.. A bit weird.. But.. why’d you say I was going to be near you? I’m going to have a different phone, so no communication.” They smiled slightly at the thought of being care-free, Wally-free.
‘Which is why I’m not going to let that happen, Love. Be prepared to come into my world, Darling, because it’s a long and bumpy way there.’
They stared at the screen in shock. No, this is just some weird joke. In a second, they’ll probably see him going, ‘haha! just a joke, neighbor!’ They gathered themself, “There’s no way! You can’t travel through dimensions!”
And then a voice could be heard.
    “Watch me.”
What did he mean by that? They looked around their room, it was now pitch black in it. Their eyebrows furrowed together as they looked back at their phone, it stood silent, black screen, until words slowly typed in themselves.
    ‘Turn around, Sweetheart. :)’
As they turned their head around, all that was left was a scream.
Until silence emerged, and all that was left was a phone, broken up to bits.

there's a post going around talking about how thermometers have mercury in them and i want to know if you're as frustrated by it as i am
thermometers don't have mercury! mercury is poisonous! we found this out years ago and started making alcohol based thermometers and spring based thermometers! there is no mercury!
Yeah, I've heard this referred to as "mesofacts". Things that were true (or at least "as true as we knew") at one point but aren't anymore. This is everything from "the population of earth is 6 billion" to "dinosaurs didn't have feathers".
And it's especially annoying when people try to use it as a "gotcha". Like HEY DID YOU KNOW THE BRONTOSAURUS DIDN'T REALLY EXIST?
Which is true.. Or it was true. Because while the Brontosaurus was long thought to be a mistake (actually being a misidentified Apatosaurus), since 2015 the genus has been brought back, as further discoveries indicate that it's a separate species.
Anyway, on the subject of mercury, I'm pretty sure we understood mercury was toxic when we started making thermometers out of them. We just didn't realize HOW toxic it was, and we now care more about things like "what if it breaks?" and "how will we dispose of it if it does?"
And probably some of it was a shift in liability. It's harder to sell a device full of poison these days, because there are laws about it, and you'll get sued if you poison your customers. It's not hard enough to do this, and we still have a huge probablem with e-waste and batteries (STOP WASTING ALL OUR LIMITED SUPPLY OF LITHIUM BY GLUING BATTERIES INTO DEVICES IN ORDER TO MAKE THEM 2mm SMALLER, YOU FUCKS), but we've definitely gotten better about it.
Anyway it's amusing to transition to talking about e-waste because this whole mercury thing is also pretty much a non-issue because you can by a digital thermometer for about the same price as an analog one these days. Thermocouples are cheap, LCDs are cheap, and you only need a little 8-bit microcontroller to hook them together. Fortunately there's relatively little e-waste there, mainly because it would cost too much to include a rechargeable battery and USB port.
But yeah. People correcting people with incorrect information or trying to blow people's minds with incorrect/outdated information is a problem.

the Killjoy Chronicles - a rough idea
The video starts showing the Danger Days spider logo in front of a black background, before showing brief clips from the video, alongside introducing the characters,
i.e
My Chemical Romance as The Fabulous Killjoys
Steve Montano as Dr Death Defying
Grant Morrison as Korse
etc, etc before finally showing
THE KILLJOY CHRONICLES
it starts off similarly to the music video for Na Na Na, beginning with Look Alive Sunshine transitioning to the song, the only difference is The Girl doesn't get captured... yet. This part is merely an introduction for the characters
Then it goes to Bulletproof Heart, this is where things kick in, we only briefly see Korse in the previous one (a lot less than in the real vid), but here is where we find BLI searching for The Girl, as well as development of her origin (like the stuff told in the comics)
Then it goes to The Only Hope For Me Is You, here we see BLI actually capturing The Girl despite the Killjoys efforts, and where Jet Star gets his eye injury and his eyepatch
This immediately goes to SING, which is similar in part to the real one, albeit the Killjoys do not die, Killjoys never die. BLI thinks they're dead though.
Then it goes to Summertime, which gives us backstory for each Killjoy, showing their upbringing, but being intentionally vague for one of them, Fun Ghoul. This is on purpose.
Then we go to Planetary (GO!), revealing the Killjoys had faked their deaths and were currently in hiding, they make their return to let The Girl know they are alive afterwards.
This transitions to S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W, where BLI find them again, Ghoul's backstory is finally revealed, his parents wanted him to be an Exterminator before he ran away to the zones, but before he can...
Jet Star And The Kobra Kid/Traffic Report, it cuts to Dr Death Defying reporting that Jet and Kobra had died in the fight in the previous video, this immediately transitions to Party Poison, in which the namesake is bringing Ghoul with them back to Battery City, avenging their brother and their friend, Poison wants to find Korse in particular, as he killed Kobra and Jet.
But remember
Killjoys never die.
After Poison's futile second seige on BLI, Ghoul has been captured, but Jet and Kobra are alive and reunite with Poison. This goes to Save Yourself, I'll Hold Them Back, where the three get Fun Ghoul back, thanks to the help of some rogue droids, who tell them their tale once Ghoul is saved.
This tale transitions to DESTROYA, the climactic point.
The Fabulous Killjoys are presumed dead after that, and they return into hiding, their legacy being carried on by other zone runners and city escapees, this is all done to The Kids From Yesterday
it closes off with Goodnite Dr Death, and then going to the Killjoys, now performing in secret venues in the zones, as My Chemical Romance, this outro is of course to Vampire Money.
The credits roll, I'm thinking the credits song would either be FTWWW or a song from Conventional Weapons (my bets are on The Light Behind Your Eyes)
hows this for a concept, give me better ideas cuz mine suck ass

The Edge at Hudson Yards
Tumblr media
THE EDGE NYC OVERVIEW The Edge NYC is “the highest outdoor skydeck in the western hemisphere” , and there is no better vista than the one the Edge has to offer because it grants visitors a full 360-degree view of Manhattan and its surrounding landscape.
From its perch on 10th Avenue bordered by 31st and 33rd streets, this Hudson Yards attraction offers a sprawling view of downtown Manhattan and the New York Harbor, where one can easily identify some of New York City's most iconic landmarks, including the views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Freedom Tower, Battery Park City, the Verrazano Bridge, and Staten Island, and more, including parts of New Jersey to the west.
To the east, the sightline from the Edge at Hudson Yards runs almost parallel to the Empire State Building, the New Yorker Hotel, Madison Square Garden, and Brooklyn in the distance, and to the north, one can see the sheer magnitude of the greenery in Central Park, the skyscrapers of midtown Manhattan including the Chrysler Building, the George Washington Bridge, and the Bronx in the distance.
Because of these incredible views and the unique way to see them from high above, this has quickly become one of the best things to do in New York City.
WHERE IS THE EDGE? The Edge NYC is at the Hudson Yards Mall, bordered by 31st Street to the south, 33rd Street to the north, 10th Avenue to the east, and 11th Avenue to the west.
The closest subway stop to the mall and adjoining building that hosts the Edge NYC is the last stop on the 7 (purple-colored) train, 34th St. Hudson Yards.
It is also easily accessible from Penn Station, so if you are coming from out of town on the Amtrak, Long Island Rail Road, or New Jersey Transit, Hudson Yards is only a two avenue walk west. The A, C, E, 1, 2, and 3 trains all stop at Penn Station as well, making this Hudson Yards attraction an easily accessible location for train commuters from within the city and from outside of it.
The Edge NYC skydeck is highly visible if you are coming from the south or the east, so just keep an eye out for it as you leave Penn station and follow your gaze. If you take the 7 train to Hudson Yards, you’ll be deposited right at the base of the mall near the Vessel, closest to the entrance to the Edge at Hudson Yards.
Hudson Yards is also accessible by Citi Bike, with two stations bordering the mall at 30th street between 10th and 11th Avenues, and the corner of 34th Street and 11th Avenue.
The NYC ferry and the New York Waterway ferry also have stops at 39th street, just a short walk from the northern end of the Hudson Yards plaza at 33rd street and 11th avenue.
Upon arriving at Hudson Yards, enter the Shops at the street level and take the elevator, escalator, or stairs up to level 4, where the entrance to the Edge NYC is located. Look out for the “Beyond the Edge” shop, Shake Shack, or The Body Shop, and you’ll know you’re in the right spot.

From Classic to Electric: The Transformation of Iconic Car Models
Tumblr media
Electric Revolution in the Automotive Industry
The automotive industry is undergoing a monumental shift, transitioning from the roar of gasoline engines to the hum of electric motors. This transformation is not just about the emergence of new electric vehicle (EV) brands, but also about the electrification of some of the world's most iconic car models. This transition to electric power is driven by a combination of environmental concerns, advancements in battery technology, and changing consumer preferences. The journey from classic internal combustion engines to electric powertrains has been both challenging and exciting, reshaping the automotive landscape as we know it.
The Resurgence of the Volkswagen Beetle
One of the most beloved car models in history, the Volkswagen Beetle, has made a comeback in an electric avatar. Originally launched in the 1930s, the Beetle became a symbol of simplicity and reliability. In recent years, Volkswagen announced plans to revive the Beetle as an electric car, part of its broader strategy to introduce more electric models. This new electric Beetle aims to combine nostalgia with modern EV technology, appealing to both classic Beetle lovers and new-age environmentalists. While retaining its iconic shape, the electric Beetle is expected to feature advanced technology like fast charging and a substantial range, catering to the needs of today's EV market.
The Electric Transition of the Ford Mustang
The Ford Mustang, an emblem of American muscle cars, has also embraced electrification. The Mustang Mach-E, an all-electric crossover, marks a significant departure from the classic Mustang's V8 engine tradition. Launched in 2020, the Mach-E combines the Mustang's legendary performance with the benefits of electric propulsion. It offers a range of up to 300 miles on a single charge and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. The Mach-E has been well-received, signifying a successful blend of an iconic legacy with futuristic technology.
MINI Cooper's Electric Makeover
The MINI Cooper, known for its distinctive design and agile handling, has also joined the electric wave. The launch of the MINI Electric brings a new dimension to this British icon, maintaining its classic aesthetics while integrating cutting-edge EV technology. With a range of around 145 miles per charge and a 0 to 60 mph time of around 7 seconds, the MINI Electric retains the brand's fun-to-drive character. This transition reflects the brand's commitment to sustainability while preserving the essence that has made the MINI a popular choice for decades.
Porsche's Electrification with the Taycan
Porsche, synonymous with high-performance sports cars, has made a bold entry into the EV market with the Taycan. The Taycan is not just Porsche's first fully electric car but also a powerful statement in the luxury EV segment. With its exceptional performance, delivering up to 750 horsepower in the Turbo S model, and a range of up to 227 miles, the Taycan has set new standards for electric sports cars. It represents how traditional sports car manufacturers are adapting to the electric era without compromising on performance and luxury.
The Transition of Supercars to Electric Power
The shift to electric is not limited to mass-market models; even supercars are getting electric makeovers. Brands like Ferrari and Lamborghini, known for their powerful engines and exhilarating performance, are exploring electric and hybrid models. The move towards electrification in supercars is particularly significant, as it challenges the traditional notion that electric vehicles can't match the performance of gasoline-powered sports cars. This transition is a testament to the advancements in EV technology, where electric motors can deliver instant torque and unmatched acceleration.
Challenges and Future Prospects
Despite the excitement, the transition from classic to electric models poses significant challenges. These include maintaining brand identity, meeting consumer expectations for performance and range, and managing the higher production costs of EVs. However, the future looks promising as battery technology continues to improve, charging infrastructure expands, and public acceptance of EVs grows. Note how it’s taken for granted that lithium is a vital raw material for a global energy transition. It is not obvious that this is true, when you examine the actual uses of rechargeable lithium-based electrochemical batteries. For one thing, they’re widely found in disposable “e-cigarettes”.
We remain skeptical that billions of battery-electric cars will be any more viable a way forward than billions of internal-combustion cars. We suspect that road vehicles (aside, perhaps, from electric-assist bicycles) will decline in importance, and there will be a resurgence of rail transport for both people and goods. This is, to a great extent, a question of land use and patterns of development ― landlords and real-estate developers will resist changes, but changes must come.
For vehicles, moreover, sodium-based batteries are making a strong showing as a potential competitor. There is, of course, no shortage of sodium! When it comes to the much-ballyhooed use of colossal batteries to match unreliable sources of power to the load, all we can say is that there are remarkably few situations where this makes economic or engineering sense, if a comparison to reliable power generated from nuclear fission is allowed.
Anyway, even if lithium is vital, whether for batteries or for fusion fuel, there are plenty of places where it can be mined. Let NASA have the Railroad Valley of Nevada.

Roger Atkins - the founder of the consultancy, Electric Vehicles Outlook Ltd, and host of the Electric and Eclectic podcast - had spent the previous five years travelling the globe as something of an electric vehicle evangelist.  His talk at the University of Bath back in 2020, by contrast, was titled:
Mass adoption of electric vehicles would be a big mistake.
"It went down badly," he admits to LinkedIn News Europe three years on. "Someone even accused me of taking money from oil companies." But Atkins, who still runs Electric Vehicles Outlook and hosts his podcast, stands by it.
If we really want to save the planet, the solution isn't manufacturing 70 million EVs, it is re-evaluating whether we need to drive altogether.  "We cannot make 70m electric vehicles a year –  each of them with a 60kw battery, with the current mining capability that exists on the planet. If we try to do that, we're going to have to dig up half of Indonesia and mine the ocean floor," he said.
EV batteries use substantial amounts of minerals including copper, cobalt, nickel, rare earth and lithium. Since 2015, EVs and battery storage have surpassed consumer electronics to become the largest consumer of lithium, making up 30% of demand. By 2040, the International Energy Agency (IEA) estimates that demand for lithium could be 13 times higher.
(...) Environmentalists warn of soil degradation and damage to local ecosystems, as well as water shortages: 2.2m litres of water is needed to produce one tonne of lithium. (...)
For Atkins, that means EVs cannot be the future of transport. Or at least, not the future of individual transport. Instead, the world needs to (...) ... yes, stop (people) driving their own cars.
Creating EVs instead of petrol vehicles is only replacing one bad habit with another, Atkins says. "Of course it is going to p*ss people off. Of course people like to drive. But we live on a resource constrained planet," he says. "We need a paradigm shift."
(Another english expert) pointed out that as many as 50% of car journeys were used to cover distances of under 5km and could be replaced by active transportation, such as e-scooters. (...)
via (1) Why EVs may not save the planet | LinkedIn
L'ipocrisia sta svanendo, non regge al vero fact check:
è sempre stato chiaro che le auto elettriche, e tutte le fnti Energetiche Rinnovabili, rischiano di fare più danni ambientali al Pianeta che dar benefici, senza citare l'evidente danno allo sviluppo economico;
è sempre stato altrettanto chiaro che, anche volendo, non è fisicamente possibile sostituire anche solo la metà del parco circolante con EVs (perché? Ma perché "le risorse del Pianeta sono limitate", qual contrappasso micidiale);

The New York Fire Department recently reported that so far this year there have been 108 lithium-ion battery fires in New York City, which have injured 66 people and killed 13. According to FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh, “There is not a small amount of fire, it (the vehicle) literally explodes.” The resulting fire is “very difficult to extinguish and so it is particularly dangerous.”
Last year there were more than 200 fires from batteries from e-bikes, EVs, and other devices.
A fire ignited at an e-bike shop and killed four people near midnight on the morning of June 20. Two individuals were left in critical condition. The fire commissioner has warned New Yorkers that such devices could be very dangerous and typically explode in such a way that renders escape impossible.
FDNY also reports that in just three years, lithium-ion battery fires have surpassed those started by cooking and smoking as the most common causes of fatal fires in New York City. It’s happening all over the country as these blazes have become commonplace. Cars and e-bikes are randomly blowing up in driveways and garages.
Now let’s be honest: 13 deaths in a city the size of New York with some 8 million people is hardly an epidemic. Regulations should always be based on a cost versus benefit calculation, or there would be no cars at all.
And yet the same scaremongers on the left who have zero tolerance and want bans for small risks when it comes to everything from swimming pool diving boards, gas stoves, plastic straws, vaping, fireworks, and so on, have a surprisingly high pain threshold when it comes to people dying or suffering critical injured from “green” electric battery fires.
Or consider this: In 1965, Ralph Nader almost single-handedly helped ban the popular Chevrolet Corvair—famous for its engine placed in the back trunk of the car. Nader’s bestselling shock book “Unsafe at Any Speed” declared the car was deadly. But there was no real evidence of that claim, and to this day there are no reliable statistics on how many passengers—if any—died in Corvairs from rear-end accidents.
What is indisputable is that EVs will cause far more deaths than Corvairs ever did.......
Tumblr media
....All this is especially hypocritical because once upon a time the left’s mantra was “no trading blood for oil.” Now they are willing to trade blood in exchange for getting Americans to stop using oil. An irony of all this is that because of all the energy needed to produce windmills, solar panels, and electric batteries, new studies are showing that the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to this “net zero” transition is close to zero. It turns out, green energy causes some pollution, too.....

The Issues Surrounding Lithium-Ion Battery Production and Disposal
Tumblr media
The increasing demand and production of electric vehicle batteries have become unsustainable for the Earth's ecological welfare and human populations because of their extraction process and afterlife disposal. As the auto industry continuously advances with electric cars, the market for rechargeable batteries increases, with Lithium-ion batteries (LiB) becoming the most commonly used rechargeable batteries. LiB features a secondary cell construction allowing their lifespan to provide the highest energy density and hefty charge/discharge cycles, making them widely used for electrical devices requiring a long battery lifespan. However, for multiple reasons, lithium-ion battery production and its inefficient afterlife disposal have become environmentally and socially unsustainable.
With lithium production, mining sites worldwide threaten the ecosystems and communities outside the areas because of greenhouse gas emissions, excessive water use, and the destruction of livable land. Mining sites use approximately 500,000 liters of water to extract one ton of lithium during the extraction process while spreading heavy metals and chemicals to the surrounding environment, which contributes to air and water pollution. Using livable land as a mining site loses the biodiversity and culture of those areas by compromising wildlife with battery chemicals, infiltrating rivers and streams with dangerous metals, and releasing toxic chemicals into the air.
Alongside the environmental repercussions, people working in these mining sites are underpaid, overworked, and in unsafe working conditions since they are usually located in areas without government regulation. As working conditions remain hazardous, water and air pollution also affect communities by creating health risks, such as burns, neurological damage, and cancerous disabilities.
After its production, manufactured lithium-ion batteries risk deteriorating below functional levels after numerous uses, prompting consumers to dispose of them improperly. Researchers say only 5% of used Li-ion batteries are recycled in the United States. As people toss batteries into the trash, they end up in landfills, making the area prone to fires and explosions years after. The Li-ion batteries can also release toxic components into the soil and surrounding bodies of water, making it difficult for all living organisms to sustain themselves.
These batteries' end-of-life disposal should not end up in household recycling or garbage bins because they can be a possible fire hazard but instead discarded at a local battery recycling location. Even with recycling, there is a danger for recycling trucks transporting, handling, and discharging battery waste since they can ignite other materials because of their explosive properties in high temperatures.
However, despite the hazards associated with every part of a lithium-ion battery's life cycle, actively trying to recycle them at a separate recycling or hazardous waste collection point. This way, there can be preventative measures in place to eliminate harming the environment while scientists and researchers look for more ways to be more sustainable with battery production and consumption.

Alice In Borderland
The scenes of Niragi played by Dori Sakurada.
Dori Sakurada's excellent portrayal of one of the most despicable characters I've ever seen in a series or film. While certainly not one of my favorite characters, nor did I care if he lived, he was definitely one of the most intriguing characters in the series. He kept my attention. I did not know about Dori before the show, but I'm sure it was helped by his looks and voice.
Literally every scene that he is in, his behavior is abhorrent and bordering on criminal acts, if not outright criminality considered in many countries.
Due to copyright, scenes had to be cut.
Alice was my first exposure to Japanese entertainment. Before I was quite avoidant and dismissive of it. Boy, was I missing out. I never knew saw any Asian death games, prior to Squid Games, which I binged. After I finished, Alice was in the Netflix queue. Because I enjoyed Squid Games so much, I decided to give Alice a try. It took me about half a year to finish because I wasn't so sure about "the Beach" transition. But after I decided to finish the last two or three episodes, I became pretty excited for the second season. I watched many reaction videos on it and will forever be thankful to Alice for getting me into Japanese entertainment, which I consume more than anything else.
Niragi's scenes in Alice in Borderland season 1, except ones involving Usagi and Chishiya mainly, due to copyright/blocked. The potential crimes involving Usagi: sexual assault, abduction, and battery. The offensive behavior against Chishiya on the rooftop is name-calling, even when he's about to be attacked and potentially killed. And during the new Number One decision, the potential crimes and offensive behavior against almost everybody were intimidation, coercion, harassment, and terrorism.
