Dragon of Time - one of the largest dragons to be seen in the skies. It is said to be the oldest of its brothers, having been reported to exist in many eras, and was therefore named after its timelessness. Though some doubt whether it truly is a good dragon, for the sharp markings on its face and whitened eyes give off the impression of something dangerous
Wolf Dragon - named for its furry wolf-like appearance. It only breaks the cloud barrier at dusk and roams the night, it’s somber howl becoming a folklore for travellers in forests. Legends say that it was once a friend of the Twili, and it circles around the Arbiter’s Grounds every night
Warrior Dragon - named for the metal plating that covers its back, and for how it only seems to appear before soldiers of pure heart/soldiers down on their luck. It is said that seeing the Warrior Dragon will bless the person with strength and courage, and if a feather from one of its blue whiskers were to fall before a captain they would be ensured victory
Winged Dragon - the rarest of the dragons, for it favours staying above the clouds and roaming the islands in the sky. Unlike most other dragons, it is more bird like, being covered in crimson feathers and sprouting large wings. It’s red feathers sometimes fall to the surface, and if spotted by a romantic couple they are blessed with eternal love. Some researchers argue that the Winged Dragon is even older than the Dragon of Time
Fairy Dragon - this dragon is often seen floating above Fairy Fountains, and it is said that new fairies are born from this dragon’s scales. It too has wings, but these ones are shaped like a butterflies. Some ancient texts read that parts of fairy dragon can heal even the most fatal injury or sickness, and a great evil once sort out the dragon in order to revive their leader
Long-Eared Dragon - an unusually pink dragon, adorned with golden horns and claws and most notably long rabbit-like ears. It soars around the entirety of Hyrule, but more sightings of it have been recorded around Eventide Island than anywhere else. If you are lucky enough to get close to this dragon, there is a sense of great calm in the air around it, as if the spirit within once fought many hard battles and now roams the sky in peace
Wind Dragon - a brilliant blue dragon that is a popular legend amongst seafarers and fishermen. It roams the coastlines, and is even said to sometimes dwell under water as there are stories of large draconic shadows being spotted beneath boats. If you ever feel a sharp breeze steering your sail away from your destination, it is most likely the Wind Dragon warning you of danger. However, the Wind Dragon is also often blamed for dangerous storms
Rainbow Dragon - a remarkably smaller and yet colourful dragon with iridescent scales. It is said to harness the powers of wind, fire, water and the earth combined, making it quite difficult to approach. Legends spread amongst blacksmiths say that if one were to meld one of its scales to a weapon the weapon would become unbreakable, and in an age where smithing is becoming a lost art many pray that they’re lucky enough to see the dragon
Dragon of the Wild - perhaps the most commonly reported dragon, for some claim to have known the spirit that resides within. It flies low around the entirety of Hyrule, but will then also return to the skies to fly with the Light Dragon. Over recent years it has become a staple sight in Hyrule and stories of the dragons origins have been passed down from generation to generation. It has become a commonly worshipped symbol for adventurers and soldiers alike

I could never do a TOTK Roleswap AU simply because I would be unable to stop myself from making Link the Sage of Good Home Cookin' and have him rock up to the Imprisoning War like "Okay well, I know the perfect setup for 12-hour BBQ ribs would that help?" and Rauru would have to be like "It wouldn't NOT help" and then they all die because of course they do

Draconified Spirit Sage!Link for @science-lings ‘s au because it has devoured my brain. (Initially tagged the wrong person whoops that’s embarrassing 🙈)
Some notes about my design here
- The color of Link’s spine spikes and horns are based on luminous stones and since in-game they’re thought to be composed of dead souls, my thinking is that they act like beacons to Poes in the Depths, so he always has a bunch of them around him. When you’re on his back, you can even gather a bunch of Poes that are floating near by.
- The shape of his horns is inspired by the wing-like portion of Hyrule’s crest, referencing both Link’s affiliation with the royal family and the iconic Hylian Shield that bears the same emblem
- I thought it would be cool is instead of sticking out of his head, the Master Sword was kind of clutched in Link’s talons 😌 idk how that would work exactly, but my thinking is that Link would be substituting Goddess Magic with the power of his Hero’s Spirit. Hence the Grand Poe color scheme for its trailing halo.
- I tried to get some Champion Tunic Blue incorporated in this design and the little mark on his snout is meant to look similar to the sword embroidered on the collar of his Champion Tunic (it also kind of reminds me of Epona’s snout marking too lol). The green, I just thought it looked nice in contrast.

I know I talk more about my sage of spirit version of my totk role swap AU but I still think that sage of time link is also fascinating to think about so I’m gonna ramble here for a minute.
One of the bigger problems of the AU in general is finding out how to repair the master sword. And part of sage of time Links aspects of his power is that he can make time pass rapidly around him. (Making the ‘sit by the fire’ mechanic an actual power over here)
What I want to do is have him not get draconified and instead get to a place with natural light magic and have him skord Zelda himself for a deca-millennium. The master sword will heal itself over so much time and it gets Link to the future.
So, that just leaves one question

About your Dragons AU with Mario and Luigi, do you think during one of the meet-ups of the video game characters, they told this story to Link and Zelda?
AH! You just reminded me that I needed to update the general layout of the AU as I wasn't happy with it (so it actually functions as an AU and not just taking place as a story in the main verse). Here is the new version for anyone interested.
As for your question, I imagine if AUs of Nintendo verses were able to meet with canon versions, I can see Mario and Luigi talking to Link and Zelda about the experience 😊
Neither the bros or Zelda would be able to describe their experience (as one does not remember anything from their time of being draconified), but I imagine Zelda would comment on how noble it was for the two of them to choose to stay together, knowing their brotherly bond is that strong ❤️💚

Au where Link swallows Ganondorf’s secret stone so the mfer would draconify himself and become a bigger danger (and to join Zelda.)
Ganondorf being all dramatic and ripping the stone off his forehead only for Link to spring forward and chomp the stone right out of his hand like some feral dog and then have the cutest dragon romantic dance with Zelda in the sky while Ganondorf just passes away from the sheer audacity.

Really glad to see a lot of ppl liked my Draconified Links Au (yes that’s the official name of it now) so I’m gonna talk about some of my ideas surrounding lore and shit
Of the nine dragons, Wild is the ONLY one to have swallowed a secret stone in order to become a dragon. He encounters the other eight dragons during his totk journey (lu hasn’t happened) after they all appeared during the upheaval and is confused why they all seem to accept his presence. In this au, the dragons have some sense of a personality but it’s limited to Legend not liking people climbing on him and flying erratically or Twilight keeping watch of Wild if he walks around his flight path. Just little hints to how they used to be.
Sonia and Rauru were unable to restore Zelda’s human form, and in a desperate attempt to reunite with her Wild takes Mineru’s secret stone and eats it, becoming the Dragon of the Wild.
As for the others, I’m still not 100% sure but the idea I’m leaning more towards is that all of them died at some point in their adventures and to ensure their spirits live on/are remembered in some way Hylia resurrected them as dragons. They’re sort of in a purgatory where they’re neither dead nor alive and Wild joins them in this state but can sort of communicate with them more. Suddenly Hyrule’s sky becomes filled with dragons that barely anyone can see but those who can often see multiple flying around together at once. No conversations or anything, they’re just chilling
I’ll eventually draw out some designs, maybe as part of my October challenge, as well as go more in depth on their flight patterns, drops and nature but for now it’s all very loose ideas and nothing really makes sense at the moment. If anyone does have better ideas let me know!! I am sick rn so brain is not completely braining
