Hell High (Real Trouble, 1989)
"Let's get out of here while we still can."
"No."
"You're pushing our luck. She's had enough!"
"I said I'm gonna finish it."
"It's no good, man!"
"What do you owe her?"
"Look, there are limits. There are certain laws we can't break. This is real trouble, real jail. Our future!"

Stryker is a fascinating young lead as the head of this#strange gang (weirdly compelling and almost seductive in his nastiness) but tragically this was his only major film and he'd died by the#time it saw wide release. it's a fun and very 80s ride until it all gets kind of nasty and mean in the last act‚ but it's an interesting#exercise in presenting likeable characters and then making them do irredeemable shit to the discomfort of the viewer. if nothing else#Arrow's restoration is utterly stunning and shows why‚ even tho they can be frustrating at times‚ they lead the way in boutique film labels

Win Arrow Video's Hell High On Blu-Ray @ArrowFilmsVideo #cultfilms #horror #win #ragingfury #hellhigh #douglasgrossman
Teenage kicks take a decidedly dark turn in director Douglas Grossman’s Hell High – out now on Blu-ray from Arrow Video – a twisted tale of delinquency pushed to its horrifying extreme, where Class of 1984 meets I Spit on Your Grave. To celebrate we are giving away a Blu-ray! When high school football hero Jon-Jon (Breaking Bad’s Christopher Cousins) quits the team, he winds up falling in with a…

Authors I Emulate:
Got tagged for this by @dogmomwrites. Thanks! Tagging @adrielcastlyre, @daisywords, and @graciecreates to answer this question: What’s your process for character development? Also, I’m leaving this as an open tag for anyone who wants to respond.
Now to answer my question:
What authors do you emulate in your writing?
I have so many, and honestly it tends to be whatever I’m reading or watching at the time. A couple influences my coauthor’s noticed in my first couple chapters are Louisa May Alcott and Douglas Adams. Weird combination, right? I’ve also drawn from Tolstoy, but I’d guess that’s less obvious.
Then, of course, there’s all the TV shows I watch that inspire me. I don’t know who’s behind all of them, but here’s a few that I’ve drawn elements from in my writing: ATLA, FMAB, Death Note, Bojack Horseman, Vinland Saga, and The Owl House. (Notice a pattern?)
I’m not counting @adrielcastlyre’s influences. They read a lot more than I do, and I’m not sure who they want to emulate most. If I had to guess, though, I’d say Daphne Du Maurier and Lev Grossman.

Richard Pierce Havens (January 21, 1941 – April 22, 2013) was a singer-songwriter and guitarist. His music encompassed elements of folk, soul, rhythm, and blues. He had an intense and rhythmic guitar style and played soulful covers of pop and folk songs. He was the opening act at Woodstock. He left his hometown, Brooklyn, seeking artistic stimulation in Greenwich Village. His solo performances quickly spread beyond the Village folk music circles. After cutting two records for Douglas Records, he signed on with Bob Dylan's manager, Albert Grossman, and landed a record deal with the Verve Folkways label. Verve released Mixed Bag, which featured tracks such as "Handsome Johnny", "Follow", and a cover of Bob Dylan's "Just Like a Woman". He released his first single, "No Opportunity Necessary". Something Else Again became his first album to hit the Billboard charts, and it pulled Mixed Bag June 1 back onto the charts. By 1969 he had released five albums. Two of those albums were unauthorized "exploitation albums" released by Douglas Records: Electric Havens and Richie Havens Record. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence https://www.instagram.com/p/CnrPyfAuXl-/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Young People: Beware Of The ‘80s!
Young People: Beware Of The ‘80s!
The 1980s were a very dangerous time – for the younger generation onscreen. Any teen or twenty-something movie character in the slasher genre of the era was pretty much guaranteed to get the chop. 1989 slasher gem HELL HIGH is a case in point – no sooner have the credits rolled heads have started rolling. Or rather, a delinquent biker tears the head off a young girl’s plastic dolly in a rage –…

Nasdaq Inc has put the brakes on initial public offering (IPO) preparations of at least four small Chinese companies while it investigates short lived stock rallies of such firms following their debuts, according to lawyers and bankers who work on such stock launches. The stock exchange operator's actions come amid a surge in the shares of Chinese companies that raise small amounts, typically $50 million or less, in their IPO. These stocks rise as much as 2,000% in their debuts, only to nosedive in the days that follow, bruising investors who are bold enough to speculate on penny stocks. Douglas Ellenoff, a corporate and securities attorney at Ellenoff Grossman & Schole LLP, said he was informed by the Nasdaq that certain IPOs will not be allowed to proceed "until they determined what has been the aberrational trading activity in certain Chinese issuers earlier this year." "These were last-minute phone calls, just as we thought we were going to go somewhere with the deals," Ellenoff said. . . Follow @stoccoin for daily posts about cryptocurrencies and stocks.
