Can someone PLEASE tell me the correct way to write the names of the characters from Love Between Fairy and Devil?

I’ve tried to find on my own but every site I’ve checked writes them differently so I don’t know which is the right way.

Is it Xiao Lan Hua or Xiao Lanhua? Dongfang Qingcang or Dong Fang Qing Cang. Rong Hao or Ronghao? Jieli or Jie Li? Changheng or Chang Heng?

Should I write them the way they’re shown in the english subtitles? Or the way they’re shown on Wikipedia? Or is there maybe a post on Tumblr here that already answered this question that I can be pointed towards?

Synopsis :

According to legend, in order to obtain terrible power, Dongfang Qing Cang of the Moon Tribe became an emotionless monster. He killed his father, seized the position of Moon Supreme and led an army of 100,000 Moon Tribe soldiers on a path of devastation. Shuiyuntian (the immortal fairy realm), Cangyan Sea (the Moon Tribe), and Yunmeng Lake (the mortal world) were in grave danger.

To save the world and stop Dongfang Qing Cang and his army, the first God of War of Shuiyuntian destroyed her primordial spirit. Dongfang Qing Cang’s army and primordial spirit were sealed and his body was locked away in Haotian Tower under the immortal bonds of the Haotian Matrix. However, if his primordial spirit was restored and Dongfang Qing Cang were to break free from his tower, the world would be in danger once more. Legend says that only the Goddess of Xishan can prevent this catastrophe, but she vanished without a trace.

30,000 years after the first God of War’s sacrifice, there was a disturbance in the Haotian Matrix. While attempting to help the new God of War reinforce the Matrix, Orchid, a weak and low-ranking flower fairy, accidentally finds herself inside Haotian Tower and face-to-face with the Moon Supreme himself. Their encounter sets off a chain of events that threatens to change the fate of the world once again.

My thoughts on this drama :

Okay so… This one had received such huge hype that I was a bit reluctant to watch it, in fear of being disappointed.

I was not.

My only complaint (and it's not new) is the childish, whiny voice of the female lead (worst here than for other, as it is the actual voice of Yu Shu Xin).

But mouse voice aside, everything is incredible in this show. The story, the special effects, the costumes, the music, the scenery. This is some spectacular drama I tell you!

I only wished it didn't have a happy ending... hum...

I’ve trying to understand my obsessive and besotted repose to Cang Lan Jué. I’ve watched it five times in a rather short period of time. I haven’t multi-binged since I was a kid and read “Little Men” nine times for completely different reasons and satisfactions. I am mainly a danmei fan, and checked out CLJ just to “see” if I might like it. Actually watched part of the first episode and thought it was “twee,” but the kicker is that I only watched part of that episode.

Then watched “Eternal Love” and was completely unexcited about its hetero plot lines (except maybe the fox and the god who wiped his name off the love list eons ago), so never again. But my daughter mentioned that folks really liked CLJ, so I went back, watched the entire first episode and the rest is obsession.

So now I’ve given lots of thought and many viewing hours to what it is that makes CLJ so captivating for me. Dongfang Qingcang—incredibly sexy. Yeah, but it’s the fact that he’ll go all the way to “I’m a little fairy,” to MLS and back that makes me love his willingly to abandon his gravitas and play for laughs. The gender bending itself doesn’t hurt either, but mainly it’s doing it all and giving it his all that wins me over. So I’m conflating the aactor and the character here—sorry to purists, but it’s so appealing and is part of his growth.

Also every main character grows and changes, the essence of good literature. Shangque, Jie Li, Danyin, Orchid, ChangHeng, Yun Zhong, Rong Hao, Xue Wan Qing, Die Yi. The arc of growing self-knowledge I find very powerful and beautiful. At bottom all are love stories (including unrequited ones) that through their growing self-knowledge enables each character to find and keep their love or NOT—but then there’s acceptance of the loss and growing/moving on. Except for Die Yi who dies having never even been noticed by Rong Hap—but that happens …..

And I love the Moon tribe. And all the music. And the scene in which Rong Hao and ChangHeng are floating through a Chinese landscape painting, and—-well you get the picture.

Will I watch it again and read it when I can get it? YEAH.

This is a continuation of the TV series after the epilogue. It arose because a friend and I were imagining some funny scenes at Dongfang Qingcang and Xiao Lanhua's wedding, if Lord Yunzhong had to visit Cangyan Sea. And me being me - it grew.

I have kept to the TV series storyline and tried to keep consistent with the feeling of the series and characters. (I also read a translation of the original novel.)

I have used the English Pinyin transliterations from the TV series. Any errors, let me know. I only know a very little Mandarin.

Love Between Fairy And Devil Review (Spoiler Free)

Literally started watching it because of a gif of how a female lead can call a male lead a wife or something like that.

Orchid is just an ordinary fairy who has a crush on a War God Chang Heng, and because of that, she wants to become better and more powerful.

By accident, she lets out one of the prisoners from Moon Tribe and hides him, so as to not get any of them in trouble. Little does she know it’s Moon Tribe’s leader Dongfang Qing Cang.

It took me half a year to finish this drama but I’m so happy that I did. My memory might be quite hazy because of that but I’ll do my best.

First of all, it didn’t take me that long because it was boring or something (maybe the second half of the drama) but I was just very busy with other dramas and life.

The start of the drama was a bit confusing, there were a lot of names to remember and a lot of characters but it was still a bit of fun.

There wasn’t a need to overthink things I just went with the flow and I enjoyed it.

The middle was interesting to watch and the couple was cute but at that point, I wanted something more to happen.

And I think around the time when they came back from the human world I lost my focus a bit. I still enjoyed some parts and got excited about how Orchid has grown and how she wants to show herself as a strong queen.

Dongfang was also a cutie obsessed with his girlfriend and I enjoyed watching those parts, however, a lot of things seemed to keep repeating.

Chang Heng keeps coming to save Orchid, Dongfang, and Orchid have a talk about how they’re going, to be honest with each other but go back on their words.

And even the side characters go around in circles and nothing much seems to happen until the very last few... Maybe even just 2 episodes where they have to solve the conflict finally.

I know a lot of people have talked about how Orchid’s voice is too high/childish and it’s annoying to watch and I thought so too.

I think, maybe it was a way to show her growth because later on in the episodes her voice sounds okay or I just got used to it.

Seeing Orchid’s character development really made me happy and root for her and at the same for Dongfang who’s always a little bit grumpy but cute.

The side characters are okay, they make a lot of dumb decisions but their stories sometimes come up to be very nice (Shang Que and Jie Li cough cough).

As I said they also fell into the loophole of repetitiveness and I just couldn’t care about them. Some parts of the story even felt so unneeded too...

Overall, I think it’s an okay drama. For me, it’s a bit overhyped, or maybe my expectations were bigger by seeing all the people excited about it.

I think it would have been better if it had fewer episodes, or at least come up with a way how to not be so repetitive.

Rambling About a Show (02/09/2023)

⚠️SPOILER?!⚠️

😭 The last like five or so episode had me bawling so hard.

I seriously love how Orchid and Dongfang Qing Cang/Moon Supreme/Big Blockhead went from ‘don’t fall in love with me I like someone else’ and ‘there is no love between us’ to ‘I love you so much that I will sacrifice myself just so that you may live on’. 🥺 They were both willing to go through hell just to prove how real the love is. They didn’t care that they’re from rival realms. I felt a little heartbroken when it was revealed that Lady Arbiter was banished for falling in love with someone she wasn’t supposed. Poor Orchid was told that her master was traveling the world. They didn’t tell her the truth. However, it’s good to know that Moon Supreme and Orchid weren’t the only ones that had a forbidden love. Not only Lady Arbiter but also Li Yuan falling in love with and having children with a woman from the Moon Tribe. That was a twist I wasn’t expecting. Also can’t forget about the time Moon Supreme threatened to invade and conquer Shui Yun Tian and also get rid of anyone who dared to bully or harm Orchid. That was extra, but very like him. Well, the beginning version of him. Thanks to Orchid he slowly becomes more compassionate, understanding, patient, and loving.

Another thing is I ended up becoming more interested in Shan que and his budding relationship with Jie li. Poor Jie li felt she didn’t deserve his love because she was deceiving him. Granted she was doing it to survive because her heart was poisoned. Also, finding out she is one of the daughters of Li Yuan was a bit of a shocker. Wasn’t too surprised though. Especially when they showed Li Yuan’s secret about Dan yin. I thought Shan que proposing and Jie li saying yes was the most adorable scene. The way he lifted her up and spun her around out of happiness. So, of course I was heartbroken when at one point she said it was all fake and a lie. She only said that because of her circumstances. I’m glad that these two sorted everything out in the end.

Rong hao... I felt he was a shady character. However I didn’t expect him to be the Lord of Haishi. He had his reasons, but that doesn’t excuse his actions or his behavior. Also, not sure if his feeling for his master was familial or romantic. That wasn’t very clear. I mean, he did mention that he would do anything to bring back his master. Who happens to be the former God of War Lady Chidi.

As I was watching this, I couldn’t side with the fairy realm at all. The way most of them treated Orchid, before she risked her life to save them during the Immortal Examination was heartbreaking. Not only that but I thought it was extreme that they wouldn’t allow interracial marriages or love. Another thing that has been on my mind is why did Dongfang Qing Cang say he was the one who killed the Xilan people? Because if I remember correctly that was Rong hao’s fault because he was looking for the Goddess Xiyun. Because she was the only one that could bring Lady Chidi back to life. Which she turned out to be Orchid in disguise for that very reason.

I was living for all the silly parts between Orchid and Dongfang Qing Cang. When Orchid had to sacrifice herself I cried so hard. Also when Moon Supreme broke her heart just so that she would stop loving him. Because that was the only way for the Bone Orchid bracelet to be removed. That scene alone was hard to watch without crying. Then there’s the fact that she chose him over Lord Chang heng. Another scene that had me crying. Listen, this show had me all sorts of emotional from beginning to end. I loved every bit of it.

I forgot to mention that I love the duality of Dongfang Qing Cang and Orchid when they switch bodies. Because it's absolutely hilarious how he can go from stoic and stern to silly and adorable. Then Orchid goes from silly and adorable to stoic and stern. 🤣 It's just fantastic.

not a silly question!!!! i cannot stress how much this is not a silly question. i adore this question, and i can tell you that we would love to see su she, song lan, a-qing, or ouyang zizhen from the untamed; ye baiyi, luo fumeng, liu qianqiao, jing beiyuan, or scorpion king from word of honor; dan yin, shang que, lord chang heng, dongfang xunfeng, or jie li from love between fairy and devil; zhou fei or xie yun from legend of fei; hei fengxi, bai fengxi, or feng qi wu from who rules the world; or bai suzhen or xiao qing from legend of the white snake!
