I just found out yesterday that Li Quanzhe is also a contestant in Asia Super Young?
I first knew him from Idol Producer and tbh I didn't follow Cpop after that, but I did know that he debuted with Zhu Zhengting and Justin in Huang after Nine Percent, so I was surprised.
I mean Zhu Zhengting is literally one of the mentors, so this situation would be hard for both of them. I really hope for the best for him.

I just found out that Li Quanzhe is on Asia Super Young (along with Ollie Wonka and Kim Dongbin) but...
The dance mentor is Zhengting?
So one NEXT member is back as a trainee while the other is a mentor?
I haven't seen that before...

Quien sabe, replica a ello: ¡De ningún modo!

If let's say it is more characteristic that chinese dragons have the element of water? The fox spirits would be the fire? (once again, looking for Chinese fox spirits is difficult because sometimes I fear that the info will become more mixed with that of the Kitsune) What about tigers?
Yes, Chinese dragons are mainly associated with the Water element, and are weather deities, though Cold Dragons (freeze/chill) and Fire Dragons also exist, they are just a lot more rare.
Foxes do have association with Fire——not as strong as dragons and Water, but there are neat tidbits here and there. For example, in You Yang Za Zu, the same passage that mentioned foxes wearing human skulls on their heads in order to transform also said that, when foxes swung their tails around at night, fire comes out (夜击尾火出).
Vol. 448 of Taiping Guangji also mentioned a fox demon who had flames on its tail, "like a shooting star". In FSYY Pinghua, when Bi Gan shot an arrow at what appeared to be Daji in fox form, fire also came out when it connected.
The fox lady in the Qing dynasty 狐狸缘, while she was battling with Lv Dongbin, also spat out her "golden core" together with a stream of Samadhi Fire in an attempt to hurt him. Which is reminiscent of the more fire-like depiction of a fox's inner core.
However, there are other more obscure sources that associate foxes with the Earth element ('cause they dig holes and are yellow/orange colored?), and because Fire births Earth, you can light 1000 years old dead wood on fire, and the fire would lure the fox out and reveal its true form.
Also, one of the spells that's commonly used to subdue foxes and demons in general is the Five Thunder Arts (五雷法), where Daoists called upon the Thunder Bureau to strike their targets with fire and lightning.
I'm not as familiar with tiger yaoguais, but element-wise, the White Tiger of the West is associated with Metal, and in the Book of Mountains and Seas, Queen Mother of the West was said to have a leopard's tail + tiger's teeths, before she evolved into a more human form in later sources.
Tigers in folklore are more well-known for their ability to command ghosts, though. Specifically, ghosts of people they ate, who help lure in more preys for them, called 伥鬼.

You are a member of the Dragon Clan! Your allegiance is to your family!
Besides Benched and Amnesia Rules, Great Grand Dragon of the East is definitely one of my favorite episodes from S3, but this moment right here is what stuck out to me the most.
And not in a good way.
Joy.
Yeah, this isn't going to be a fun one, folks.
So, because the number varies, we don't actually know exactly how many children Ao Guang has, but because of a proverb that's taken literally in Journey to the West, it's safe to assume he probably has at least nine kids in total. In terms of sons, we do know he has at least three of them. Unfortunately for the Dragon King, all three of those sons also end up dying.
AO BING (敖丙)
Tumblr media
I actually already talked about Ao Bing months ago, but to reiterate, he's the third son of Ao Guang (with his name even referring to the third Heavenly Stem, an ordinal system, when writing it as 丙) and was killed by Nezha after the dragon prince tried to avenge Nezha's other victim Li Gen, who also died trying to attack him after Nezha accidentally disrupted Ao Guang's Crystal Palace by causing a waterquake. After Ao Bing died, Nezha decided to take the dragon's tendon and turn it into a belt.
Keep in mind that Nezha was only seven.
Naturally, Ao Guang was devastated when he learned the news, but Nezha assaulted him before he could report it to the Jade Emperor to keep him quiet. This however didn't stop Ao Guang from trying to take matters into his own hands anyway, so he enlisted the help of his brothers to arrest Nezha's parents for the murders, only for Nezha to sacrifice himself instead.
After the rise of the Zhou Dynasty, Ao Bing eventually gets deified, becoming the god of the Huagai Xing (华盖星), or Imperial Canopy Star.
MOJIE (摩揭) AND LONGDU (龙毒)
Tumblr media
The Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea and one of the dragons who's about to meet his end. Because the only thing worse than losing a child is losing two. On the same day. By the same person.
Enter the Crown Prince and Second Prince, apparently sometimes called Mojie and Longdu respectively.
So, centuries after the Nezha incident, what happened was that a group known as the Eight Immortals decided to cross the East Sea using their powers or magic tools, all while being very drunk. One of them, Lan Caihe (藍采和), decided to do so by using their jade clappers, but this quickly caught the attention of Ao Guang and especially his eldest son due to the clappers shining through the water.
Caihe then ends up getting kidnapped by the Crown Prince so the latter could steal the clappers, and though Ao Guang agrees to give Caihe back after another immortal, Lü Dongbin (呂洞賓), injures his eldest son, he refuses to give the clappers back. This soon leads Lü Dongbin to kill Ao Guang's sons shortly afterwards.
Then it's war.
So the East Sea gets dried up, Ao Guang's palace gets destroyed again, and after Ao Qin convinces his brother to just report this to the Jade Emperor, the two sides are eventually forced to reconcile while Guanyin fixes the Dragon Palace and also gives two pieces of the jade clappers to Ao Guang as compensation.
Side note here, but Sun Wukong himself appears in this story towards the end and it's to side with the Eight Immortals.
And as a sort of honorable mention:
LONGNÜ (龙女)
Tumblr media
Probably not her actual name, btw; Longnü literally just means Dragon Girl, so it tends to be a pretty common word when referring to a female dragon. But speaking of the Eight Immortals, one of Ao Guang's daughters—prior to the death of her brothers—fell in love with one of them, specifically Han Xiangzi (韓湘子), Lü Dongbin's own apprentice. You know how it goes: boy plays dizi, dragon girl hears it and disguises herself as a silver eel before approaching him... Classic meet cute!
Unfortunately, Ao Guang soon found out about his daughter's affections and forbade her from ever seeing Han Xiangzi again, but she managed to send him a new dizi, one made from Guanyin's own bamboo grove, to remember her by.

PGR Ascendant OC squad
"A collection of loosely assembled members led by an unknown Agent that simply goes by the alias of 'Nameless One'. They all follow their own sense of morbid curiosity. Under their leader's idea that nothing can be truly perfect, they find joy in this endless search.
This group will be referred to as the Eight Immortals."
Li Tieguai A machine that used to be the assistant of a wildlife biologist, whom he referred to as "master". He wishes to recreate, and therefore preserve, the entire world with the Punishing. He believes this is the best way to honor his master's memory. His true form is something akin to a qilin.
Zhang Guolao A creature born of the Punishing Virus during one of Nameless's experiments. He shares Li Tieguai's views–not out of compassion for someone else, but out of a sense of superiority. This often leads to the two butting heads.
He Xiangu She rarely leaves Mount Penglai, being somewhat lazy and too occupied with her own looks. Her goals are unknown at the moment. Her true form can be loosely called a "fishman".
Lan Caihe They don't seem to have a goal of their own, so they accompany the other Immortals' whims. Their true form is something akin to a nudibranch.
Han Xiangzi He is often seen with the Nameless One. He carries out orders the best he can, but it is undeniable he has a soft spot for humans. His true form is something akin to a nightjar.
Lu Dongbin His only interest is fighting, though he's often faced with disappointment. His true form is something akin to a praying mantis.
Cao Guojiu He tends to act as the intermediary between the Nameless One and parties of interest. Although he does not operate independently, he has expressed interest in seeing whether humanity can grow alongside the Punishing and join the Ascendants. His true form is something akin to a spider.
Han Zhongli He holds a strong disdain for humans, but he generally does not go out of his way to kill them as he finds it to be a waste of time. Instead, he'd rather watch from the sidelines and actively admonish them. His true form is something akin to a crane.
