hi. you've mentioned Donald Duck a few times in your posts, with scrooge being one step removed from pulp heroes, Donalds Paparinik (Italian superhero identity which I love, the new PK Adventures where lovely) in terms of their relation to the Diabolik line of European superheroes and Donalds general tendency to run head first down slippery slopes. so I'm wondering if you have any further thoughts on his comics and weird place in the superhero/pulp world
Tumblr media
Oh God, do I. I mostly wanna talk about the superhero side of things but I feel like it's worth mentioning I grew up with Donald Duck comics, specifically the Carl Barks ones. The picture above wasn't taken by me but I own and recognize like 7 of the books in it, my mom always bought these that collected several of his stories and had these beautiful painting covers so we could read them together, and I still flip through them on occasion and love them very much (I really wanna buy a translated edition of Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck to read with her but those cost a liver). Donald Duck was one of my childhood hyperfixations and I got my hands on all the comics and movies and cartoons I could find with him, and I actually did read several of the Italian comics, I could go down the stationery right now and grab 5. I first stumbled on Paperinik via those, and for long I didn't think much of it, because Donald Duck moonlighting as a superhero for decades isn't the kind of thing that comes up often. I just thought Paperinik was a weird but funny idea for the longest time and always liked rereading a story where he puts on the costume to scare a rich jerk into leaving his granny's farm alone. And THEN I stumbled onto PKNA, Paperinik New Adventures, and oh my god this rules so much.
Tumblr media
Actually one of the best superhero comics I've ever read, it's just constantly and consistently doing these wild absurd stories and swings into genre territory and quality storytelling. It's famous for opening it's first issue with aliens genociding an entire planet and I thought that was kinda overselled, and it's not frequently this dark (sometimes it actually gets darker though, and I probably stopped before it could really get there), but it is a very weird comic. It's more akin to Fantastic Four's serialized consistency than any kind of graphic novel prestige storyline but it is frequently so good at what it does, even the lamer issues are still worth reading. I like describing it as Donald Duck falling headfirst into Batman-level resources, forced to deal with Superman problems (on both the "huge sci-fi horrors" and "people being really, really irresponsible dicks" ends), while trying to stay Ditko's Spider-Man and failing. These do not feel quite like any Donald Duck comics I'd read before and while they would hold up with a different character, I do think they deserve credit for how they make it still always feel like you're reading a Donald Duck story, if a slightly different one. In fact I'd even say PKNA actually makes the concept feel more suited for Donald Duck in a way that brought the idea full circle.
Tumblr media
To those of you that don't know, Paperinik started as a villain, or more of a revenge fantasy. By that point there was a tradition of doing a lot of parody stories with Donald that started in 1953. By the late 60s, readers were dissatisfied with Donald Duck always constantly being mistreated by the rest of the supporting cast and losing unfairly, so it was decided to have one of those parodies feature Donald Duck as uncovering the fortune and resources of "Fantomius" and becoming a masked rogue able to get back at them by achieving the impossible, in that he both steals from Scrooge and defeats Gladstone's luck by framing him for it.
He had a stint as a master thief until it was decided it made him too mean, so he morphed into a superhero trying to overcome his prior bad reputation and using his new skills and gadgets (still prone to malfunctioning) to deal with his typical rogues and new ones, and having the admiration of his nephews who don't know that Unca Donald and Paperinik are the same. PKNA, in turn, was sort of a reboot, shedding the previous history and pretty much getting rid of Donald's traditional supporting cast and having Donald stumble onto a different set of resources and means to fight crime, but keeping the idea of Donald Duck having a superhero alter-ego that nobody suspects. The scale and menace of the threats he's up against DRASTICALLY increases, and if anything that fact is crucial to what allows these to still feel like Donald Duck stories, even with Paperinik being a genuinely impressive and cool hero able to save the world. Nobody believes Donald Duck could be a cool and impressive person if he tried, and so Paperinik becomes not just a power fantasy, or a call to something better or be someone better, but it becomes a key component of Donald Duck stories: a thankless job he's expected to do that he doesn't want to do until his pride or something crucial is on the line. These are still parables about human failures and what can be learned from them.
Tumblr media
I'd even say a big part of why they succeed is because they introduce a character who can pick up Donald's slack as a comically unpleasant ill-tempered grouch in need of a lesson protagonist in Angus Fangus, a character who's sort of J Jonah Jameson meets Harvey Bullock. Angus has it out for Paperinik and gets up to a lot of the antics you would traditionally expect Donald to be doing if this was a classic Donald Duck comic (and even has a Gladstone-esque rival of his own in another reporter), and getting to learn lessons and be humbled and even have his own set of impressive moments. The choice to give an entirely new cast around Donald greatly added to the comic's ability to experiment and do new things while still keeping the core of Donald.
I actually like a lot of these new dynamics better than the ones he traditionally has, I love The Raider and Lyla and One and oh god Xadhoom, Xadhoom is so fucking cool, such a cool design and name, this powerful roaring supernova stickbug alien person in a crusade of murderous vengeance who names herself her language's equivalent of creditor because the death of her entire planet is the DEBT SHE WILL COLLECT IN BLOOD ENERGY and she is just the most 90s anti-hero ever made except she's stuck in a Donald Duck comic getting into comedic situations and learning to laugh and feel emotions and learn from her mistakes again whether she likes it or not. These two are so good together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even with a superhero lair and supercomputer and gadgetry handed to him, Donald Duck is so comically outmatched against his opponents he still winds up winning through guile and will and comedic trickery. Donald desperately wishes he could go on self-serving ventures or just sit at home and enjoy tv, and not get dragged into dealing with murderous alien invasions, or cyberpunk revenge stories, or collapsing future timelines, and still having to solve those problems so there's a world to come back. The stories are frequently fun and they are prevailingly comedic and very good at it too, but they also get a lot out of taking weird turns into unexpected territory.
I haven't finished it because I wasn't able to find it in full or keep track of what's the og series and what's the reboot, still trying to sort that out, but god what a find this series is. What a great strange turn in the history of this great strange character.

Ok, so I've become curious about everyone's opinion on this; how would each TTTE character CANONICALLY react to their ships or art of them as a human? By that I mean from the actual TV series, specifically Season 18 to 21. Reply with your opinions or reblog
Edward after seeing a picture of him and James smooching;

so i know jane fonda pulled back and became more ... liberal and classically american as opposed to her outward klute era days as a leftist actress. i don't know much about both of these figures so, did peter fonda do the same???? and did donald sutherland ever pull back in the same way as i know he was outward as well alongside jane also.
i think i'm definitely ... uncomfortable with subtle natures like 'coming home,' i'm uncomfortable with "i want them to like me," but that's bcoz i'm not in her position and we are different people. but did peter fonda have a similar political stance etc or was he more or less an lsd hippie? what's up with that interview on dick cavett where he offers his father his seat and sits on the floor but his father rudely and quite ... well, just meanly dismisses him.
and someone tell me things about donald sutherland

BITTER MDGYRO EXES LET'S GOOOOOOOO-
(Well. Mads is more bitter, Gyro’s just tired) So so so so sooooo lil' similar to Equus' 'Blame Gravity' story, but by this time they've VERY obviously broken up and have been apart for a while.
Starts off with Gyro finding Mads beat up and left to die in an alley somewhere, he brings him back home and helps him out, washing the blood and such off and bandaging him up, letting him stay the night. Mads is not only very out of it but also their relationship is pretty strained (however Gyro's very clearly trying to be courteous), so they don't talk much the first night.
The whole fic is supposed to be kinda based off the 'Partners in Crime' song by FINNEAS, and this part goes into the first verse-
And you won't remember But I carried you home You sat in the shower While I washed off your clothes
But isn't that what friends are for Even if we used to be more? Like lovers or partners in crime When you were still mine
I was thinking the narrative doesn't give very much information on their background, 'cause ✨intrigue✨. For the first while, they're obviously broken up and obviously strained because of it, but it's a while before you find out why.
Mads sleeps for most of the day, and when he's awake he's pretty cold towards Gyro despite Gyro saving his life. Gyro spends most of the day in the lab, and he comes back up to find Donald and Mads in the middle of a shouting match in the front room. Which is mostly surprising since Mads shouldn't be even able to get up in his state.
He does manage to send Mads upstairs and then has to explain everything to Donald, and that's where you get more information on their relationship. They were together for a year before splitting and now they've been apart for almost a year as well. No one’s seen Mads in months however (he hasn’t even appeared as a supervillain trying to kill Scrooge- which he reverted back to doing after the breakup), and Donald and Gyro here kind guess that that’s probably due to mental health reasons.
Once Donald leaves Gyro heads out to get food for the both of them, and by the time he gets back Mads is already asleep upstairs and the pantry has very obviously been raided.
Mads and Gyro do share a bed so I’m thinking there’s a few moments of wanting to shake the other awake to tell them something or explain things or even just talk but. they always end up not doing it. Also also also we’ve established that maybe Mads isn’t doing fantastically soooooo there’s the possibility of like nightmare comforting too, which makes them both longing for when they could do this and not have it be awkward.
So they spend the first week together waiting until Mads heals up. They slowly get more used to this and talk more, but it’s not often. And Gyro is noticeably very touchy (forehead kisses, arms around him to help him up even when he doesn’t need it, hands on shoulders, etc), almost even more so than when they were in a relationship, but Mads pretends not to notice. And Gyro tells himself it’s just because he’s worried, not because he misse(s)d him (it’s both).
Mads does end up telling him how he got hurt- he was in some underground fight ring for a while and was winning a lot, actually. One of the guys he beat got mad about losing, and got some friends together to actually beat him up. He says he tried it out just to try fighting, but it’s actually because he was missing Gyro and needed a way to focus on something else and beat himself up a little (Gyro ofc is horrified, and it makes him feel even worse for Mads).
Donald kinda pulls in some Devil Doesn’t Bargain energy too, warning Gyro away from him again saying he’s a supervillain who’s already broken his heart once, it would be easy for him to do it again. Gyro usually waves him off and kinda reminds him that they’re not planning on getting back together anyway.
THAT BEING SAID they do end up kissing by the end of the first week (damn they barely even lasted a week- XD) but Mads shuts it down saying they broke up for a reason and it’s surely going to come back and bite them later, there’s no point in leading each other on. Gyro kinda agrees, and they agree to just stay whatever kind of weird friends they are now.
THEN the narrative finally shows why they broke up, and maybe there’s like a flashback or something to show it too. I don’t have an exact reason yet but I’m thinking it’s something along the lines of morality (Mads being reluctant to give up his vendetta against Scrooge and Donald, and Gyro being offended by that), along with maybe a little of Mads’ more negative personality (when he’s mad he’s mad, and very petty) being something that’s a little hard to get used to (and, if they’re already upset at each other over splitting, that being like a “well I’m glad we’re done, now I don’t have to put up with your stupid anger management issues!”). There’s a little Lego Ninjago Movie “I could’ve changed” moment as they both separately think back on it especially that evening (more so on Mads’ part), but in the end they just give in and let themselves be friends.
Then I don’t have much else planned, probably some silly hijinks here and there along with PAINFULLY OBVIOUS mutual pining (that they both know is there), along with some kind of insane thunderstorm and/or snowstorm that leaves them really stranded at home together (and possibly without power????) but they do end up together, and really resolving the thing they broke up over.
Yeah so that’s it ig :3 I just like the angst of the strain between them, and that feeling of once knowing someone super well but now not even being able to feel like it’s appropriate to really talk with them.

I've been getting comments on old fics from one person I thought had gone away for good (they always whine I don't write this one character as 100% perfect and invincible) and it's extremely weird because they're commenting on stuff that’s YEARS old. like. touch all the grass.
The funniest thing to me is one of the things they commented on was when I wrote about the concept of the Negaverse, where characters are supposed to be the exact opposite of their normal selves. That is the whole concept. I DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH CLEARER I COULD HAVE MADE IT.

semi plotted thing || @heirloom-of-the-insane
A date had been meant to occur, but after everything that had occured, time had taken them separate ways. While they had remained working partners with an unspoken love, Donald had married and divorced twice over and Georgeann had mostly pulled inside of herself with a focus on overexertion with running programs. She’d not be made a victim again, even if vision was cloudier than it had ever been before. Both detectives had been marked for the worst since the Bloody Face murders that now seemed to resurface.
Nightmares had started once again for the both of them. Where faux fear had kept Georgeann mostly silent in the interrogation room, Donald was still fueled with the anger that had nearly lost him his badge with an attack against Thredson upon his initial arrest. They were trying to work on the kid set before them.
Georgeann had sat silently, feigning uncomfortability before Johnny, as she listened to Donald interrogate this connection to the escaped Bloody Face. She understood his tactic. These new killings, this new killer, was not their fish -- it had always been Oliver Thredson. He’d been their big fish that had gotten away and both wanted to see him taken to death row before their own deaths took them from this world.
“Come on, kid. You’ll save yourself a lot of trouble. You’re young -- those big guys in there, they’ll have you for lunch then shit you out,” Donald told him. “Or some long dick son-of-a-bitch will claim you. We don’t want that for you. You start talking, we can start thinking about deals....seg rooms to keep you safe. You can turn this around for yourself.”
It was all thin. This was a ploy. If this kid wanted to be anything like the original Bloody Face, it wasn’t the hard love of a fatherly figure and bad cop routine that would get to him and they both knew it. They’d been partners for too damned long to not know where the other was moving.
Finally, Georgeann moved, hands set in front of her in an open and caring gesture as Donald moved back, leaned against the wall with eaglelike eyes focused in on Johnny. Long ago, he’d made certain that he’d not let any detail go unseen when it came to the women around him with how he’d missed Georgeann’s kidnapping right in front of him.
“You know who we are, don’t you,” the female detective asked, her words softer, almost motherly in affectionate resonance, “You’re handsome like he was, you know that?” Smile given and she can feel her stomach churn in the repulsion she so successfully keeps free of revealed features, “That’s one thing Dr. Thredson has on every other serial killer. He’s ... unlike anyone I’ve ever met,” a pause as she tried to keep on the charade of pretending that Thredson was anything but shockingly evil, “I think he just needed a father to show him the right way...”
“What can a mom show a man anyways,” Donald rang out, playing on sexism in hope of gaining a reaction.
“Have you met him,” Georgeann asked, eyes set on him, taking in every feature that she could make out of him.

You know, they always say you have to let things go. Move on and appreciate what you have in your present, to look forward to your future. That’s an easier thing to say than to do. To let go of your past feels like letting go of a crucial part of you. What are you without a past, really?
But maybe there’s more to it than that. The things that haunt the living thoughts and dreams are nothing but memories twisted by emotion. Creating a narrative for one’s life that determines... everything.
Donalds not proud of what happened in that hole. He hadn’t felt this low since he let himself spiral when the boys were born. The smoke did nothing for him, neither did the alcohol. It was the boys he’d promised himself to that brought him out of that dark place, and now Break had done that too.
The most giving of people, are the ones who hurt the most.

[Break... what happened on that ship... I-] He’d known he needed to explain himself, even if Break said he didn’t need to explain anything, Donald didn’t care. He wasn’t telling him only for Breaks sake.
[’Bout 10 years ago... I lost my sister. Twin sister, i-in space.] He couldn’t look Break in the eyes, resorting to fidgeting with the fingers sticking out from his cast. He barely registered the cast at all.
[She took a rocket my uncle built... the next adventure was going to be among the stars. Unexplored and unknown. Who knew what we would find out there...] He sighs. How foolish they’d been to believe such a lie.
[I’ve been raising her...] He smiles softly. [My nephews ever since. Sometimes when I can’t sleep, I look up at the stars and hope she’ll come back someday.]
He stops suddenly, feeling a lump forming in his throat. He lets himself gaze for a few minutes, before speaking again. [I... was afraid that I did the same thing. Left my loved ones behind, with no hope of seeing them again. i lost it... control of myself. I realized something though... when I saw you.]
He glances at Break, still facing the landscape before them. [You can’t ever lose hope. No matter the pain, the regrets. All of it. There’s always that at the end of the day. You can’t give up on yourself like that, it’s never worth it.]

One holdover that's stuck with me from Trump's term in office is how few people actually call in. My congressman's office said they were BOGGLED at how many calls they had gotten on a particular issue, so I asked how many...
They replied, "Seventeen."
jamie quinn 🏳️‍⚧️ @threnody.bsky.social KOSA is moving through the senate right now, where it has significant support. but nothing's final until it's final. if your senator's a democrat, call & email. use this script. it's timed to 1:00 and it won't take long. even with enforcement moved to the FTC, this bill is too easily weaponized.
[Embedded Text Image Transcript]
My name is _ and I'm one of your constituents. I'm calling to urge you to vote NO on KOSA - the Kids Online Safety Act. The bill's sponsors claim it will protect kids by placing a duty of care on online platforms to prevent anything that could be harmful.
The power to decide what's harmful has been ceded to the FTC. FTC leadership is made by presidential appointment. Current president Lina Khan may proceed fairly, but what happens when the next Donald Trump is in the Oval Office? What if it's Trum himself? Do you trust a Trump appointee not to abuse this enforcement power?
KOSA claims to protect kids, but it's poorly designed and, given time, it will absolutely and without question, harm LGBTQ children, adults, and anyone who needs information on reproductive health or abortion.
KOSA author, Senator Marsha Blackburn, said she introduced KOSA in part - and I quote - "to protect minor children from the transgender in our society." The Heritage Foundation proudly said they'll apply pressure through KOSA to block information about abortion, reproductive health, & LGBTQ issues.
Vote NO on KOSA.

Simon Riley x Dog Sitter! Reader pt. 3
<- Previous Next ->
Warnings: mild cursing, boredom, thas really it
A/N: Holy shit I cannot believe how much love this is getting, and it's so much fun to write!! I've decided to makes this a fully fledged fic instead of just a drabble, and I'll be posting it on ao3 too! Let me know if you'd like to be added to the taglist! Also sorry if formatting changes, I'm trying to have some sort of order among my writing.
Tumblr media
Simon had never told you how long he'd be gone - which was fine, your flat was only a twenty-minute drive from his home, should you need to do laundry or get more soap. You had some freelancing logo-design work you could focus on in your downtime, and Simon had been gracious enough to leave a note on the coffee table with the wifi password. Truth be told, you imagined this would feel like a holiday: no more shitty bosses. You were your own boss, here. You could make your own schedule, as long as you made time for Riley.
You soon discovered, after moving into Ghost's house, that it was very much not a vacation. The interior of his home was so barren that it made you feel like you had been sent to an asylum. On your first day there, you managed to get a bit of freelance work done; after that, you tried watching the telly, but you couldn't drown the heavy restlessness in the back of your mind.
You decided to phone a friend.
"What's Riley like?" Leslie said through the phone, which was tucked under your ear.
"Military dog." You replied. You were lying on the floor next to Riley, stroking her fur as her head rested on your stomach. "So proper, I've never seen anything like it. You know- when I made breakfast today, I dropped some food on the linoleum- she didn't bat an eye. Girl just watched."
"That's amazing... you know Donald would have run to it like it was the first meal he'd been fed in years."
You laughed, making Riley's head bounce on your abdomen. "Mum has got to stop feeding them real food..."
"What about the client?" Leslie said, changing the subject. "Simon, was it? What's he like?"
"Honestly?" You began, scratching between Riley's ears. "A decent guy, don't get me wrong - but bland. Gruff. His apartment is, too."
"Just like ya mum always said." She snickered. "Can I see?"
You sighed. "Nah, I never checked if it was ok to bring people over. Not sure if he'd appreciate me giving you a tour. But I'll ask next time if you can visit."
"That's fair..." You heard her shuffling around on the other end of the line. "Well listen babes, I should get back to work. Got five left on my lunch break."
You groaned at the prospect of having to be alone in Simon's barren home again. "Alright... still on for this Thursday?"
"You know it! Nina's coming too."
You grimaced. "Whoop-tee-doo..."
"Oh, c'mon, I'll make sure she's civil. Love ya."
"She'd better be. Love you!"
The call ended with a click, and you let the phone slide from your shoulder with a sigh. You stared at the ceiling, running through what you could possibly do. You'd already had a shower at your flat before coming here, you'd done plenty of work...
Riley tilted her head up to look at you, sensing your frustration. You looked back down at her.
"What d'you and Simon do all day?" You asked.
She sighed and looked away.
Maybe it was time for a walk.
"Alright, Riley!" You said, pocketing your phone and sitting up. She scrambled up at the sudden movement; her eyes followed your every move as you stood, her stare expectant and excited.
"Fancy a walk?" You asked.
She whined and yapped, shifting her weight from one foot to the other.
You chuckled. "C'mon, then - before you and I both start going insane."
On your way to the closet to fetch her leash, she had nearly knocked you down to beat you there. You huffed, leaning down to grab your shoes and tug them on. She sat (im)patiently and watched, her tail slapping against the wooden floor.
"Alright, alright..." You laughed, grabbing her leash and latching it onto her harness. She obediently trotted to the front door and sat, waiting for you. You opened the door and stepped outside, confused when the leash tugged in your hand. You looked back inside and saw that Riley hadn't moved from her seat on the floor. She looked at you, ears forward and eyes eager as she waited for... something.
You looked at her, puzzled. "What's wrong, girl?"
She whined, pointing one foot up and thumping her tail against the floor.
Oh, right. Military dog.
"Okay, Riley." You said clearly, and she happily trotted out the door. You chuckled, locking the deadbolt behind you and beginning the much needed walk. She stuck right by your side, never passing you nor falling behind.
For the kind of gruff, admittedly shady man that Simon was, you noticed that he lived in a pretty nice area. If you told your mum where he lived, she'd blow a cap out of jealousy - the houses were neatly lined down the street, each one with a driveway and a small garden bed underneath the living room windows. Simon's was noticeably bare - Christ, even his grass was thinner than the other neighbors', how does one manage that?
You eyed his empty garden bed as you passed it. You wondered if he would let you plant a few things... just to liven up the drabness. A couple of Hostas, maybe some African Violets... you knew he wouldn't want too much colour, but he definitely needed something to brighten his home. Currently, it stuck out like a sore thumb against the other houses. Not to mention, it would give you something to slice through the boredom of staying here.
Eventually, the sidewalk led to the edge of a small patch of woods. A bridge stretched over the creek, which then led to a longer, winding path through the trees. You came to a halt, reading the sign next to the trail.
"Po-wee-hee-co park..." You mumbled and Riley stared at you with her tongue hanging from the side of her mouth. "Poeheko Park? You ever been here?"
She looked between you and the trail, sniffing the air. She licked her lips and whined.
"Suppose not, Simon's only ever dragged you around the block a few times, huh?"
She eyed the trail warily, but you could see her eyes brimming with eagerness and interest. You chuckled, reigning in her leash and starting over the bridge. "Time for an adventure!"
------------
Simon sat stoicly on the heli, eyes fixed on the wall across from him. His palms rested on his thighs, fingers splayed. He appeared calm and collected, focused on the mission that Priced had debriefed not too long ago.
Except, the mission couldn't have been further from his mind. He was thinking about you and Riley. We're you giving her enough attention? That was a dumb question; clearly you knew how much attention a dog needed. You'd done this before... but had you ever worked with a dog that had certain needs and medications? You never mentioned it during the interview, and he didn't remember to ask. What if you couldn't see the signs when Riley's pain was flaring up? What if you had forgotten that she needed pain medication?
He thought about texting you - but he quickly shut the thought down. He'd reserved texting for emergencies only, and he knew you were good at your job. There wasn't a moment of your life you hadn't spent around dogs, of course you would take perfect care of Riley.
"Honin' in, LT?" Soap's voice echoed through the coms as he took the seat opposite from Simon. He was relaxed, as if this was just another Friday for him - well, Simon supposed, it was.
"Always." Simon replied gruffly, focusing back on the mission at hand. He cleared his throat and flexed his fingers, trying to keep a cool composure.
"How's Riley doin'?" Soap asked. "Know I jus' seen 'er a few days ago, but- ye finally cave n' get someone to pet sit?"
Simon grunted. "'Course. Not gonna leave 'er alone that long, it'd be torture."
"Who'd ye get?"
"What's it to you?"
"Secret service? Ye snag one of the Royal Guards fer the job?"
"Jog on, Soap." Simon warned with a serious look, and Soap raised his hands in defense.
He couldn't tell Johnny about you. A fierce, possessive feeling in his chest told him not to. He knew Johnny had a thing for young, pretty things like you, and he refused to let you fall victim to his desires. In fact, he hated the thought of it.
But- who was he? Why was he being so protective over someone he barely knew? You were an adult, perfectly capable of making your own decisions. Why should Simon cockblock you and Johnny? So what if he wanted to shag you?
Mentally, he shook his head. No. Never. He'd lock you in his house if it meant keeping Jonny away from you. Even if Simon wasn't anything more than your client, he wasn't going to allow Johnny to get close to you. It would be too weird. You're his, after all.
...
Fuck.
He sighed and adjusted his position in his seat. You and Johnny didn't even know each other, for Christ's sake. He was overthinking all of this. You'd probably never even meet his team, why would you need to? You only ever have reason to spend time in his house, not on base. You just watch Riley, make breakfast in his kitchen, sleep on his couch, maybe his bed, if you're with the dog... using his bathroom, his shower...
He scowled at himself. Maybe hiring you was a huge mistake. You were too distracting.
