Rolling Thunder!!! On Ice (Oinoya)
Yu grabbed Tooru's hands as he stepped on the nearly empty ice rink.
"Already?" The taller boy couldn't help the smirk that only grew as Nishinoya began his inevitable protest.
"Listen, my hands are already cold. Plus I said I was gonna fall so you told me you'd hold my hand. So there."
Nishinoya was positive he had never run so fast in all his life. Except maybe the last time the coach had brought meat buns for the team after practice. Not the point.
Squinting, he could see that Oikawa was already waiting outside his house, looking up at the snow as it fell.
"Hey, you!" Nishinoya shouted, smiling at his boyfriend with a wave.
"Hey," the volleyball captain replied softly. "Didn't even stop for dinner before you came, did you? You're pretty early."
Yu shrugged. "Just grabbed some pocky."
"Some. You're sure it wasn't the whole bag?"
"Of course I'm sure!" Nishinoya nearly shouted, trying to make himself heard over Tooru's laugh. "Listen, listen, I actually paid attention this time, I swear."
Oikawa put his hand out for Yu to take, which he did. Every once in a while, he couldn't help but smile about how small and perfect Yu's hands were- especially how perfectly they fit into his own.
The silence that followed their most recent discourse didn't last long.
"Yu, there's snow in your hair," Tooru commented, reaching to try to get a little bit of it out.
The libero growled in annoyance. "I knew that would happen. It's gonna mess up my hair and it won't look as cool."
"Well," Oikawa argued, "you know, I don't mind it down." He leaned down to whisper into Yu's ear. "It's actually pretty cute that way, did you know that?"
Yu turned red faster than Tooru could have blinked. "I- uh- that was- I mean, if you like it-" he stopped short, catching a glimpse of Oikawa's renewed grin.
"Come on, love," Tooru murmured, gently tugging Yu's hand. "We're here."
Nishinoya froze in his tracks at the sight of the ice rink. The sunset, vibrant shades of blue, purple, and pink, were reflected on the ice. Snow-covered trees surrounded the small pond. Birds flew above them as though they had somehow known exactly when the lovers would be watching.
Oikawa watched in quiet admiration of the boy beside him for a moment, enjoying the excitement the scene before them gave him.
"Hey, Yu. Ready yet?" he finally asked.
"This looks amazing," Nishinoya said. "Come on, let's go," he added hastily, pulling at Tooru's hand almost hard enough to take it off. Normally Tooru would have complained, but tonight he didn't mind.
"Ever ice skated before?" he asked Yu with a sideways glance.
Nishinoya swung Tooru's hand back and forth as they continued. "Maybe once," Yu replied. "I think I was just running around on a frozen lake, though. No actual skates involved. Less falling, am I right?"
"See, that's debatable," Tooru said with a laugh. "It depends very much on circumstances." He took Yu's ice skates and sat on a nearby bench to help him put them on.
"Circumstances, shmerkumstances," he replied animatedly. "Wait- how did you get those, I didn't-"
"Of course I remmebered your shoe size." He nearly added something about how it matched the rest of his small stature but decided against it for his own well-being.
Yu watched Tooru lace the skates. "Do you do this a lot? Skate, I mean?" he asked with a gesture at the pond.
"When I can." Tooru stood up in satisfaction and booped Nishinoya's nose. "You'll get the hang of it, easy."
Despite his boyfriend's reassurances, Yu was certain he nearly rolled his ankle several times just walking to the pond. He grabbed Tooru's hands as he stepped on the nearly empty ice rink.
"Already?" The taller boy couldn't help the smirk on his face that only grew as Nishinoya began his inevitable protest.
"Listen, my hands are already cold. Plus I said I was gonna fall so you told me you'd hold my hand. So there."
"That I did," Tooru said agreeably, turning to skate backwards so he could face Yu without letting go of his hands.
"Whoa, hold up," Yu said, nearly stumbling at the slight movement. "How are you backwa- stopstopstop I'm gonna fall," he laughed, gripping Tooru's arms.
"No you're not," Oikawa said, leaning down to touch Yu's forehead to his own. "I've got you."
