Shoutout to that one episode of Dollhouse where everyone gets high and Topher and Adelle have a sleepover party. The worst person you know gets The Naked Time-d and decides to have a girls night with his horrible boss/mom. Meanwhile the rest of the characters are going through it.

dollhouse went hard with the themes of sexual slavery and assault but like. not nearly hard enough. at its core the dollhouse is fueled by systematic abuse and exploitation and making sure the other option the dolls have sounds worse than becoming dolls but it feels like the only one allowed to defy it is the only one thats overtly and explicitly sexually abused, while all the rest of it is more sexual exploitation instead of direct assault and that's more of an accepted reality of the dollhouse business. like they went hard especially with sierra's arc but they needed to go harder with it on everyone else's as well

Dollhouse Headcanon

I'm watching Dollhouse (the Joss Whedon show) and the hilariously inaccurate headcanon I've decided to go with is that the entire Dollhouse program is a desperate attempt by a group of overambitious Wolfram and Hart employees to explain why they spent millions of company dollars on human cloning and memory manipulation (by the way, the main character is a clone of Faith in the headcanon). They just came up with the most fucked up use they possibly could and hoped that it worked out for them.

I love that The Boys is a sleeper hit cuz that means it’s not mainstream, like Supernatural is a cult phenomenon that most people have never even heard of. Same with Good Omens, and Firefly and Dollhouse.

Cuz the more mainstream, the less good it’s bound to be (except the new Spider-Man trilogy with Holland, that’s my exception)

anti-rpf j blogs are so confusing to me because. the plot of dollhouse is by definition romcomdram jIud rpf. idk what to tell you

#had this big brained thought a while ago #and others about how rpf covers a lot more things than ppl think. like. reality tv shows. anything that says 'based on true events'#you could argue that any j stream is rpf bc j plays a caricature of himself #and leans into fictionalized ideas that chat made up. like the psycho stuff and all #see also the distinction between jrma and jermy #and i suppose the same is true for anyone in the media #and arguably the genre of nonfiction itself. since it you were to write 'true' nonfiction there would be no narrative #yada yada i work in publishing yada yada yada etc #okay one more thing. more obvious live action rpf (like dollhouse) is so interesting to me. i demand more of it #jorma diary #long-winded rant #im going to write my thesis on this
