Adam Birkan New Work: Portraits

Adam Birkan shot recent portraits of friends and strangers on the streets of Bangkok, Thailand on expired 35mm and 120mm film, like Kodak Gold 200 & E100. The portraits emulate Adam’s innate street photography sensibility and composition-style as he highlights both the subject and the unique environment they’re a part of. 

Adam is the creator of the Bangkok Photo Walk, a free monthly photography group that encourages photographers with all levels of experience to build connections in Thailand and to further develop their skills in the medium of photography.

My Mate Mick Previously shown in Deptford, Hackney and Suffolk I started this series of work during my final year @photography_uos and carried it on for a few months once I left. Currently in the process of rescanning negatives to produce a Zine The Oxford dictionaries definition of new age traveller is : New Age travellers are people who live in tents and vehicles and travel from place to place, and who reject many of the values of modern society. This series of work was a documentation of a small community living in a stretch of forest in Suffolk, England. Living in repurposed buses and caravans, they kept themselves to themselves. Living off the grid is desirable to many, the freedom appeals to people. The thought of being able to do what you want, and when you want draws people to this lifestyle.
