Din pulls off the helmet as soon as the door closes. He walks over to the cabinet full of expensive liquors he’s been gifted over the years, picks a random one and pours himself a glass. He tosses whatever it is back, as if it were moonshine from a backwater cantina, before sinking down into his chair.

“Out of all the kriffing planets in all the kriffing systems in the whole Galaxy… he walks onto mine.”

20 years after the battle of Endor, Mandalore is thriving.

The same cannot be said for the rest of the Galaxy.. The First Order, claiming to be the heirs of the old Empire, have captured every planet in the outer rim, save Mandalore, sending thousands of refugees the recovered planet’s way.

It's leader finds himself on the perilous balancing act of neutrality- though it's made easier with a New Republic set on a strategy of appeasement.

However, with the arrival of Senator Organa on a diplomatic mission at the same time as a delegation of First Order officers, the Mandal'or finds the tight-rope is even thinner than usual.

Especially when Organa is not so secretly the Head of the Resistance- something that irks both the First Order and the New Republic.

None of that matters to the Mandal'or though, seeing as the danger has prompted Organa to bring along a bodyguard. A man who the Mand’alor has not seen for a very long time…

My piece for the DinLuke Big Bang 2023, based on Taking Note by @tastytaboo. Their work it's sweet, romantic and funny and brilliant, go read it right now if you haven't already!

This is my first time participating in a Big Bang and a fandom event in general, so I was really nervous Luckily, Tabs got my back since the beginning, being always kind and patient and supportive, plus their story has been a real delight to illustrate, I really couldn't have asked for a better first experience I hope you'll enjoy our works too!

Just a little something I'm working on...

Luke first met the mandalorian the day after his 18th birthday. Din was on Tattooine chasing a bounty when his speeder broke down. He was lucky enough to break down in the place where Luke often took practice shots at wombats.

"What's your name, stranger?" Luke asked as he screwed in a bolt with his wrench.

When the mandalorian didn't respond Luke sighed and sat up to look at him, "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. But we get all sorts here on Tattooine. I won’t judge you."

"My name is Din," The mandalorian confessed, much to his own surprise. He usually refrained from sharing his name, especially on planets like Tattooine, but something about Luke was reassuring. And the strange knowing look in the blond's bright blue eyes told him that Luke would keep his name a secret.

Din couldn't put his finger on it, but Luke was shrouded in a cloud of other-ness. Like something about him was different, or more than meets the eye. Whatever it was, it intrigued him.

"I like it," Luke replied with a smile before he laid down and got back to work, "It’s different."

"So is yours," Din said before he could stop himself.

Luke chuckled, "Yeah, I know. Most people on Tattooine have slave culture names, but mine is distinctly Coruscant."

Din considered the young man with a hidden intrigued look, "I like it," he whispered, mimicking Luke’s response to his own name.

Luke smiled, brighter than the twin suns that shone down on them. Somehow, he knew Din smiled back.

Uncle Owen asked many questions when Luke came back late with a dopey smile stretching his tanned cheeks. Aunt Beru just giggled and smiled knowingly.

I'm finally writing fanfiction again! Of course, it's from a different fandom than the first fics I posted, but I don't write for the sake of making content for people to consume. I write because it makes me happy, and sharing my writing also makes me happy. I don't know when this will be finished and posted on Ao3, but I decided to post about it on Tumblr to see if it's even something people want.

Anyway, I'm super excited about this fic! The plan is to write from before A New Hope all the way to Ahsoka: Season one (maybe, might stop at The Mandalorian: Season three). We'll see how that goes.

“Does the floating take up more…. force power?” Din asks, as he watches Skywalker meditate, hovering over the floor of the shuttle they find themselves in, “-‘Cause I can turn off the gravity systems if you want.”

Skywalker opens one eye to look at him, mid-air.

“I can’t tell if that’s a joke or not.”

“I’d never joke about the force.” Din says, seriously. “-mostly because I don’t understand it.”

Skywalker snorts to himself, even though it truly wasn’t a joke.

He stops meditating, fluidly getting his legs under him without floating back to the floor.

“The Force doesn’t work like that.” He says, “-dunno know whether I should try to explain it.”

Din shrugs.

“Up to you. I wouldn’t understand any of it, probably. But. It’s not like my schedule is full.”

Skywalker snorts again.

“Well, according to the computer, I have about a week or so to explain it to you, so, a bit of a time crunch.”

After a mission gone sour, Din finds himself stranded on the edge of space with no hope of a rescue. If the prospect of slowly dying alone with Luke Skywalker wasn’t enough, there’s also the little fact that Din happens to be in love with him. It’s a long story.

For @stardads secret Santa, from @babygirlbridger 's excellent, excellent prompt of "first kiss/confession of feelings when they're both made prisoner somewhere and they aren't sure if they'll get out of it" (with a dash of: din almost blue screens when he sees Luke easily decapitate someone. luke also almost falls to his knees and sucks din off on the spot after din throws himself over Luke to protect him from an explosion or something.)
