In the semifinals we were down to four live-action white dudes which I find kind of sums up what kind of character people on tumblr hate on its own. These were a week long because I was still shadowbanned but I think I got my blog restored partway through this round.

Ross won. It wasn't even that close. So as promised, he was publicly executed. In Skyrim. Because what else would it be.

Personally I never watched Friends so Ross sweeping was not what I expected lol. There were some characters I put on opposite ends of the bracket because I thought the finals would be Vriska vs. Bakugo or Kylo vs. Tony or something like that. But it turns out people really hate annoying sitcom dudes, at least from the sample size that voted in this poll.

Rand Ridley, from Inside Job: Feels kind of vague, I probably could judge this one if I actually knew the character, but I don't. Might do a wiki dive and see if that helps. More evidence would be great.

Dewey Finn, from School of Rock: Evidence is a combo of factual and vibes-based, and the factual evidence is a little weak (not getting things done on time and irresponsibility are common in ADHD people, but I'm not sure if it's enough or not.) More evidence please!

Yellow: Postable, But I Need To Look Into Something First

Mac McDonald, from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia: Apparently someone makes a comment about him being ADHD in the show. Someone was kind enough to find where this happens for me, but I need to get around to watching it for myself and evaluate if it counts as canon ADHD. I'd usually say any assertion of ADHD in canon is a confirmation, but this is a sitcom and ADHD is unfortunately often used as a punchline. Been debating whether to just post him as "semi-canon".

Kaveh, from Genshin Impact: Submitter thought it might be canon. Need to check. Even if not, evidence was sufficient, so it'll be posted once I check (honestly should have been posted ages ago if I'd gotten around to checking.)

Tigger, from Winnie the Pooh: I've seen some cool analyses on how different Pooh characters represent different neurodivergencies and Tigger represents ADHD. Would like to dig one up to include in the post.

Flywhisker, from Warrior Cats: Author said she "wouldn't be surprised if Flywhisker was on the ADHD spectrum". Need to look up context because I think that's a canon confirmation, but she was submitted as noncanon.

Heinz Doofenshmirtz, from Phineas and Ferb: Submitter talks about how the writer based doofenshmirtz on himself and was later diagnosed with ADHD. Need to look into if said writer ever connected those two things. Evidence looks sufficient even if noncanon, though.

Amy Rose, from Sonic: Submitter's evidence was a video and I just haven't gotten around to watching it yet lol. Sounds postable from the text, I just need to watch the vid to make sure.

My deltarune divorce diagram has gotten a lot of attention which naturally also means a lot of criticism. I thought I’d make a separate post to address the most common feedback

First, here’s the diagram again in case you haven’t seen it

Pretty good right? I love making these a lot. It’s nice that other people like them too but the core audience for them has always just been me. I find myself making them even when I read stuff no one else has ever heard of and I don’t have anyone to share them with

Now here are some issues people have had and my responses

Asgore and Rudy should be marked as romantic

There’s no heterosexual explanation for their behavior but all that’s actually in the game so far is a lot of subtext. Deltarune operates in a frame where bigotry doesn’t directly exist but its effects are still visible so I doubt the game will ever say it outright but the obvious interpretation of the fact that they both married women instead of each other is that they’re still closeted. It will be really interesting to see how this evolves given that Asgore has ruined his own marriage now and may be on the way to ruining Rudy’s too.

You should have included the ghost family/the mad ghost’s crush on Asgore

This one is completely valid actually. The reason I left them off is because they’ve played a very very small role so far (we don’t even have sprites for Mettaton or Maddy!) and half of what we know about them is just things from undertale that might or might not still be true in deltarune. Here’s what the chart with them looks like

I really hope we get more of them in the rest of the game though! Between transitioning to become an anime catgirl and having dual crushes on Asgore and Undyne Maddy appears to have pretty much exactly the same taste as Alphys and I’d love to see that explored

Asgore is too nice to hate Sans

No he’s not.

Alphys and Undyne should be marked as romantic

Considering how things turned out in Undertale it’s almost certain they’ll be getting together again but this diagram is meant to document the current state of affairs and right now they’ve only known each other for half a day. Their nebulous meetcute crush is very cute though.

Toriel and Sans aren’t really flirting, they’re just friends

Between Sans implying he’s fucking Kris’ mom and Asgore’s reaction to seeing them together there’s definitely some degree of romantic subtext to their relationship. This is marked as a maybe for a reason

When did Rudy talk about hating Sans?

This dialogue is super easy to miss because you only get it if you come back and talk to Rudy about Asgore after seeing the eggs-husband scene

Sans didn’t actually say he gives Asgore free pickles, posts-from-a-darker-timeline made that up

Nope! what posts-from-a-darker-timeline made up was Sans talking about “befriending” Asgore the same way he talked about Toriel. The free pickles thing is real!

Alphys has a crush on Toriel

There’s no evidence for this but it would be extremely funny. Edit: see here

Everything about the Mayor

Mayor Holiday is an extremely important character who hasn’t actually appeared onscreen yet so everything we know about her is inferred from other people talking about her and is therefore somewhat speculative. Going over it all is too much for this post so I’ll be doing a separate writeup about her soon

Asgore is the protagonist of a soap opera

HE SURE FUCKING IS. DIVORCE DIMENSION. IT’S SO GOOD

Sans just moved here and he’s already in the middle of this mess

God can you even imagine? You’ve been in town for under a week, you’ve made friends with a nice local milf, and somehow in the process you’ve managed to involve yourself in a nightmare sitcom dramedy that stars half the adults in town. so i'll try to go in order here. uhhhh... there's a LOT i have to say. first: toriel giggling sprite my beloved

on that note, ALL THE NEW SUSIE SPRITES MY BELOVEDS

NOELLE YOU'RE SO GAY. I THINK THIS IS PROBABLY JUST BECAUSE I TOLD HER TO IN CHAPTER ONE BUT SHE GAVE SUSIE THE LUNCHBOX FULL OF CHALK!! I LOVE ITTTT

ralsei's, uh... kinda sus. the whole "recruiting" thing REALLY sketches me out. and he looks kinda... smug, all the time, like he knows what's going on.

LANCER JOINED! ROUXLS JOINED EVEN THOUGH NO ONE WANTED THAT! STARWALKER JOINED, TO EVERYONE'S JOY!

so before i entered the city there was that pre-city area? that looked very much like the city? except it had different music? and i thought they'd cut welcome to the city and i was SEVERELY disappointed. but then they didn't! just something i wanted to mention

NOELLE!!

throughout this game i went from despising berdly to feeling bad for him to not really liking him again, but not hating him as much as before. he'd better stay the fuck away from susie though

the queen is the best villain. she's the kind you love to hate! she's literally so funny AND her boss battle is actually tough (rip to the king but he just. wasn't a formidable enemy at all lol)

THE GANG CHARLIE BROWN DANCING TO WIN A FIGHT! SUSIE GAINING THE POWER TO ACT THROUGH SHEER FORCE OF WILL! SUSIE FORCING RALSEI TO LEARN TO ACT EVEN THOUGH HE DIDN'T WANT TO! THAT ENTIRE BATTLE WAS AMAZING! THE "BATTLE WON" END DANCING SEQUENCE! GOING INSANE GOING INSANE

the puzzles in this chapter were genuinely really impressive! i especially loved the word search puzzles and the ice-ee undertale word search reference💙

that being said. the mouse puzzles were SO fucking infuriating. i caused poor noelle a LOT of grief with those and i feel bad.

SPEAKING OF NOELLE!! the scene where she and kris are walking through the puzzle, the one that spells "december", and she's talking about when they were kids, how she loved sneaking out? beautiful. the cinnamon tography <3 also i guessed dess's full name was december a while ago and while i guess it was obvious, it's nice to have that confirmed!

also, i love that susie and ralsei are real friends in this chapter! he taught her a healing spell!!

ugh. fucking berdly. so smug and pretentious. i love queen's desire to be as far away from him as possible though

i also like his backstory. it gives his behavior, even if it's still annoying, at least some context. i get the feeling of feeling like if you're not smart, people will forget about you, and that's scary.

ALSO ALSO. GAMER BERDLY. LITERALLY EVERYTHING ABOUT THAT IS PERFECT. "I THOUGHT YOU WERE A GAMER!" "i only play mobile games, berdly." "NOOOOOO!" like i ADORE that

anyways. time for me to talk about the only thing that matters in this world: suselle. i mean, did the gays win in this chapter or DID THE GAYS WIN IN THIS CHAPTER?? THEY RODE A HEART-COVERED FERRIS WHEEL AND HAD A HEARTFELT, TENSION-FILLED CONVERSATION!

"did you ever wonder why the real susie never picked on you? well, maybe it's because... when you were both new to class, you lent her one of your pencils, like... maybe a dumb one with candy canes on it or something, and... even though it didn't actually taste like candy, she... remembered your smile." okay god thanks toby it's not like i needed my heart or anything

it's hard because ralsei's still suspicious but at the same time i love him and want him to be happy. i don't know how to feel

also, if darkners outside of their dark worlds turn to stone after a while, why didn't ralsei? that's, uhhh... VERY sus. very weird. mr fox i need ANSWERS

WE FINALLY HAVE A WAY TO SAVE AFTER WE'VE FINISHED MOST OF THE EPILOGUE LADS. REJOICE!!

seriously the thing that peeved me about ch1 was that the last save point was on the battle stage and if i wanted to play the epilogue again, i had to. do that entire battle all over. BUT NOW THAT'S BEEN FIXED!!

UNDYNE AND ALPHYS HAVE MET UNDYNE AND ALPHYS HAVE MET THIS IS NOT A DRILL UNDYNE GAVE HER A BOX OF CANDIES EVERYBODY SHUT UP THEY'RE IN LOVE ALL IS RIGHT WITH THE WORLD

ALSO! NEAR THE BEGINNING! I FORGOT TO MENTION THE LITTLE WHITE DOG DOING DONUTS IN A TOY RACE CAR AND BACKING UP TRAFFIC! THANK YOU LITTLE WHITE DOG!

on that note: "looks like a car. this one has a man in it. he waves at you happily." AND THEN THE MAN'S GONE??? HEY TOBY???

ALSO. THE SEGMENT WHERE THE ANNOYING DOG HELPS US FIND THE KEY THROUGH THE POWER OF WANTON DESTRUCTION. THE BEST PLOT DEVICE!

TORIEL TEACHING SUSIE TO MAKE PIE STOP ITTTTT

and yes yes i KNOW kris slashed toriel's tires. that was extremely troubling. but THEY MADE PIE TOGETHER!!

sans and toriel making egg puns and asgore running in and going "don't forget me, your eggs-husband!" is the FUNNIEST sitcom moment type thing ever. GOD.

on the other hand sans let me meet your brother god dammit i'll kill you

snowy and monster kid checking out the red door. implying there's something in there. something that kris knows about. knowing we won't get any more deltarune content for 5+ years does NOT fill me with determination

also. gaster's symbolic theme being mus_smile. and the final image in the game being a smile. god. gaster's COMING lads.

onionsan hears a song at night... a familiar song... memory, perhaps? or maybe a certain... four-note arpeggio that's hidden in a sound test room in undertale? who knows? guess we'll just have to wait for chapters 3/4/5.

this concludes my ramblings for now, but don't get it twisted- this is FAR from the last post i'll make about ch2. this whole chapter was absolutely amazing! brilliant! showstopping!! i'm genuinely soooo super impressed and excited for the chapter 3/4/5 bundle!!!

So, some analysis, both of this specifically and of Deltarune in general after that:

So, at a minimum our lil bro here seems to be a boss monster. In fact, I think based on Suzie’s extreme reaction, he is, in fact, Asriel. If this is the case, it would have been a particularly shocking revelation immediately after he specifically stated that he’d met them here.

I still need to replay to see if there’s a genocide-equivalent state, but I think the implication is that the darkworld here is some sort of echo of the Underground... or vice versa.

When you copy a save, the success notification mentions mirroring. I think this is probably a significant wording, albeit not more than a subtle hint.

So, Kris and Suzie, and the rest of the familiar gang: they’re not actually the same iterations of the characters as in Undertale, and this is not a post-pacifist world.

Of note: There are no mentions of the underground. Humans appear to be extremely rare; there are no others, and monster children may be scared of humans under the bed. The amalgamates don’t appear to have been made - check to the left of the church. Undyne and Alphys don’t even know each other yet. Kris and Asriel apparently grew up in town.

Overall, what this feels like is the sitcom that Undertale is a gritty AU of.

Kris appears to be the character we’ve been calling Chara. They may or may not have Frisk’s SOUL (see ending...thing.) If they do, it’s possible this is the end result of Chara using that soul to remake the world in a form they thought they would prefer, but it didn’t work out.

So, the birdcage - if you Inspect the floor next to it, there’s a stain, and it’s visibly dried-blood colored. I think whatever’s going on in the ending cutscene is something that’s been an ongoing problem.

I think that the narration telling us that what we do doesn’t make a difference is a false flag. If anyone has found in-game evidence of this so far, I’d love to hear! (If counter-evidence, I’d also love to hear!)

The voiceover (literally) text is sometimes not Gaster, but I’m pretty sure some segments of it are Gaster. It seems like the glowing pillar Kris and Susie jump in to at the end of the underworld may be somehow related to a tear in space and time...
