The term “Dashiki” is derived from the Hausa word “dan ciki,” which translates to “inner garment” or “underneath.
History of Dashiki
The Dashiki comes from West Africa, worn by the Yoruba and Hausa people. It was first formal wear, loose and colorful with detailed designs. In the 1960s and 1970s, it got famous in the U.S. during the Black Power movement and Civil Rights era. It showed African pride and resistance, worn by leaders like Malcolm X. It changed with fashion but stayed a symbol of Black pride. Now, it’s still loved worldwide, reminding us of African culture’s beauty and strength.
The Dashiki is still admired as a sign of African history and pride. People from all over wear it to show their style, culture, and to remember how strong African communities are. The Dashiki reminds us of unity, resistance, and the joy of African culture. Its importance in history is still remembered today.
Dashiki is coming in trend day by day it holds history and going on with the culture of african peoples bold prints on dashiki make them more interesting nowdays aprrox too many peoples choosing dashiki to wear like ontario peoples united states peoples and all the african peoples it seem to unique and bold to wear
Originally, Dashikis were worn as traditional attire by men in West Africa. They typically featured loose-fitting, brightly colored garments with intricate embroidery or ornate designs along the neckline and sleeves. Dashikis were considered formal wear and were often worn for special occasions, ceremonies, or religious gatherings.
Dashikis are traditionally worn during cultural festivals, such as weddings, naming ceremonies, and religious celebrations, among the Yoruba and Hausa people of West Africa. They are also donned during important events in the African-American community, like Kwanzaa and Juneteenth celebrations.

How a non-African   got close to African culture by never visiting Africa?
Travelling was one my passion, that I couldn’t resist. With the beginning of new month or with the arrival of vacations, I was always in a rush of making new plans for my next holiday destination. Apart from travelling, my travel mates always emphasis on exploring new & less touched places, cultures & shops. After a long discussion & dedicated research, Ayutthaya a historic place in Land of smiles, Thailand, was marked by our travel team as the next stop of our traveling dairy. It was not my first time to travel to Thailand, but the excitement was still on the sky. At the conclusion of our trip we got chance to stay in Bangkok for a day.  While roaming around a shopping mall(pratunam) in Bangkok, I came across a woman wearing a very bright shirt, with lively touch of combination of colors & invigorating design integrated on the shirt. The design was so magnetic that I was unable to concentrate on anything else.
I approached the woman & noticed she was selling the same shirts. Being a Singaporean I never came across such designs. Also, it looked like there was some deep history that this shirt was carrying within. Without any hesitation I questioned the woman “Are these shirts Thai designed or related to local culture?”
With a smile on her face she replied, “These are dashiki shirts from Africa manufactured by our brand in Thailand”. “Globalization is connecting the whole globe”, was my feeling that second. The woman was full of zeal and confidence, she explained me that dashiki is a colorful article for men and women which was worn mostly in Africa, but now famously accepted as smock shirt all around the world. The shirt is popular trend among locals and travelers, as it provides comfort and looks both together. Moreover, the shirts are a pick for beach lovers too. From a search I came to know that dashiki was a symbol of affirmation, it stood for “black is beautiful,” and signaled a return to African roots, and insistence on full rights in American society. Along with the beauty now the history was enveloped with shirt too. The Prints on the shirts were very soothing and vibrant that it forced me to take out money from my pocket and get all the unique designs with quality colors packed   & being ready for shipped to my home country. I never been to Africa nor I had any knowledge about African culture but After my trip to Thailand, I had a great respect for the traditions, culture & people of Africa.

3 Tips you can Follow to Keep your Ankara Print Clean and Soft
Ankara prints are considered by many fashion designers to be an iconic abstract that defines every aspect of the African fashion designing industry. Tumblr media
So, leaving no room for mistakes while trying to clean the clothes is a norm everybody wants to practice. So, this blog has been written to give you certain tips you can follow to keep your clothes made of Ankara print soft and clean.
Avoid Frequent Washing
After you buy prints of Ankara for men's African wear online make sure you do not list this cloth in your weekly laundry chores quite often. Ankara prints are susceptible to damage when they are exposed to the contact of water almost thrice a week.
Avoid Direct Exposure to Sun
The rays of the sun are harsh on the color composition of your Ankara prints. The color composition is usually made from simple dyeing. We all know how bad the harsh heat can be on random dyeing. So, drying them under the harsh rays of the sun is going to fade the color and make the print look as thin as a rake.
Use Hand/machine wash
Hand washing your Ankara is the easiest way to take care of an Ankara print. Simple washing under a bucket of cold water with a mild detergent is enough to clear all the stains of sweat from your shirt. So, this is a way to get the clothes in a good shape without making them look awfully dirty.
To shed a little on the final thoughts you can buy Ankara men's African wear online to protect the product from getting damaged. Consult with a professional for more details!
