Autumn 2014 Anime Season

Recall last season.

Well, that was a rubbish set of predictions. Still, I completed 11 shows and still have 4 ongoings which is actually a heck of a lot more anime than I’m used to watching..it helps that no K-drama or J-dorama has been remotely worth my time lately.

Onward to Autumn 2014! This time, I’m trying to improve my projections by actually watching the PVs rather than just reading badly-written synopses.

What I think I’ll like: Kiseijuu, Mushishi S2 Pt 2, Gugure Kokkuri-san, Akatsuki no Yona, Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso

What I’ll be watching even if I don’t end up liking it: Nanatsu no Taizai (i read the manga), Fate/stay UBW, (bloody) Wixoss, World Trigger, Ai Tenchi Muyo

What I’m totally on the fence about: Shingeki no Bahamut Genesis (looks cool), Amagi Brilliant Park, Madan no Ou to Vanadis, Sanzoku no Musume Ronja, Denkigai no Honya-san, Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru, Trinity Seven, Sora no Method

What I’ll try to watch but probably end up dropping: Orenchi no Furo Jijo, Girlfriend (kari), Garo, Okami Shojo to Kuro Oji, Donten ni Warau, Cross Ange, Danna ga Nani wo Itteru ka Wakaranai Ken, Hi☆sCoool! SeHa Girl, Bonjour Koiaji Patisserie, Karen Senki

What I’m 100% sure I won’t be touching with a barge pole: hi sequels (Aikatsu, Chaika etc), Terra Formars, Tribe Cool Crew, anything Gundam, Grisaia no Kajitsu, Kaitou Joker, Ore Twintails ni narimasu, Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai, Inou-Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de, Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete (NOOO NOT FEEL)

Leftovers: Akame ga Kill!, Daiya no Ace, Yama no Susume S2, SAO IIWell, that looks bloated ._. I’m thinking of going for the Korean Nodame & Liar Game remakes as well as the live-action Nobunaga Concerto soooo….wish me luck w

what are some underrated anime you’ve watched that you’d rec? also continue more pls with any slice of life / rom com type anime. If you had non high school settings that’d be great too 😭

Underrated:

Higashi no Eden (action, sci fi, thriller, romance, drama) i see this in almost every ‘underrated anime list’ so maybe it’s not as underrated as everyone thinks lol...

Hourou Musuko (drama, slice of life) this is a very short anime about a trans girl (it’s in a high school setting but the story is very different from any high school anime because it deals a lot with gender issues and gender norms and stuff) very heartbreaking but also very sweet. the animation is stunning.

TSURITAMA (comedy, sci fi, slice of life) aka The Fishing Anime. idek how to explain this anime?? it’s super weird. a guy with anxiety issues befriends an outgoing alien and an angry boy and together they learn to fish? there is a duck named tapioca?? none of my friends have ever watched it even tho i have been bothering them abt it for years lol

Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru (sports, drama, comedy) HAIKYUU BUT IN COLLEGE. lol no. all jokes aside this is a very interesting sports anime. a guy recruits 10 (unwilling) colleagues to run a marathon with him. The most interesting part of this one for me was watching them evolve not only their running but also their relationships with each other.

Kyousou Giga (fantasy, supernatural) very underrated but i understand why people may not like this one. this anime is off. the. shits. when you think you understand what is happening nothing makes sense again. all i can say is that this anime is about family. that’s it.

Punch Line (comedy, ecchi, supernatural) dont let the ‘ecchi’ category fool you. this anime is a masterpiece. i think it ended too fast, it needed at least two more episodes for a very satisfying ending but i loved it anyway. i also dont know how to explain this anime tho lol... The main character’s spirit gets separated from his body if he sees a girl’s panties? but if he sees it twice the whole world will explode?? time travel? body swapping? super powers? “Punch Line follows Yuuta as he unravels the mysteries surrounding Korai House, its residents, and a villainous organization attempting to end the world. Will Yuuta be able to save everyone, or will the ever-present threat of panties result in their doom?“ this was written in myanimelist and yeah...

Mushishi (slice of life, mystery, supernatural) i dont really consider this underrated... a lot of people have watched this but no one talks about it anymore. This anime has a very unique vibe. It’s mysterious and unnerving but at the same time it is heartwarming and soft...

Rom com: (tbh i havent watched many romcoms)

Wotakoi. this one is a classic, i was a skeptic before i started it but the comedy is gold. Romance in the work place with the bonus of Everyone being a fucking otaku but trying to hide it.

Servant x Service. much like wotakoi this one is also abt romance in the workplace. tbh i watched it in 2013 so i dont really remember much about it other than the fact that i really enjoyed it

Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken. THIS ONE!!! THIS ONE!!!! each episode has like 4 minutes so if you really dont know what to watch and you dont want to commit to anything too seriously go watch danna ga nani. It’s about the married life of a woman and her otaku husband. It is The Cutest thing you will ever watch.

Another slice of life i have to recommend is Sangatsu no Lion, i still havent watched season 2, but i can definitely say this anime is a masterpiece. We follow the main character as he struggles with depression. it’s a very accurate portrayal of depression and watching Rei make progress towards recovery is truly a stunning experience. The supporting cast is amazing. the animation is very unique. you can feel the moments of loneliness in your soul because the animation perfectly conveys the mood of each scene. And the heartwarming scenes feel so special... damn, maybe i should watch season 2 now

One more: Sora yori mo Tooi Basho (adventure, comedy, drama) 4 girls go to antarctica!!! That’s it!!!

Anime of the day: Random Pull List

Did you know I’ve been doing this for 280 days? In honor of these many days that I’ve posted anime nonsense, here is a random pull list of 10. Remember I put the whole, extremely long, list into a randomizer and take the top 10 from it.

Tonari no Kyuuketsuki-san

This is a cute yuri like anime about a girl obsessed with dolls who bumps into a vampire and essentially moves into her house and is now obsessed with her.

Megalobox:

This anime is a boxing anime. It’s second season is wonderful; however, it was quite different from the first. Nevertheless it was a great anime.

HYPNOSIS MIC: DIVISION RAP BATTLE - RHYME ANIMA:

What a strange anime. The concept of this anime is crazy. So there’s magic mics that bring what you rap to life and this is now people fight now. However, the all female government, who made these mics, is secretly trying to destroy anyone who might be a threat to society. It was an adventure.

Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken:

This is a romance between a hard working office woman and a hard core otaku. It is also delightfully funny and very nicely crafted.

Golden Kamuy:

I recently started, and then rapidly finished, this anime. It was wonderful! I wasn’t expecting myself to like it so much, but I just can’t stop and there is a super fire OP as well. Don’t let the picture fool you, this anime is worth the time to watch.

PEACE MAKER KUROGANE:

To be totally honest, I remember watching this, but I don’t exactly remember what it was about. Man that was a while back. I think it was becoming a Shinsengumi, like a police force.

MEKAKUCITY ACTORS:

This anime is about a secret group of people with powers. It’s also focused on one character at a time. Man I haven’t thought about this anime since 2014.

Tokyo Revengers:

The last episode for this aired a little bit ago. And I mean if you haven’t watched this already what are you doing with your life?

Slime Taoshite 300-nen, Shiranai Uchi ni Level Max ni Nattemashita:

Ah I love slice of life anime. There is nothing more wonderful than just watching people do what they do. So, she’s a reincarnated witch who becomes super strong killing slimes and then she makes friends on accident.

100-man no Inochi no Ue ni Ore wa Tatte Iru:

Ok last one here we go! This anime was interesting. It’s concept was nice and a bit different. A god like creature is collecting people to become stronger to fight a future evil and they have to work together to do it. I think the cast is interesting enough and can’t wait for the next season.
