WIP Whenever (and that includes Wednesday ! )
I was tagged by @redwayfarers aka @i-mybrunettelady and unfortunately I have not moved more than a few words forward on the previous WIP, so... here's another WIP to feast your eyes upon 😊
This is set somewhere between Heart of Thorns and Season 3, so obviously spoilers for the former. Featuring, Vigil shenaningans, Laranthir being autoritative (hot!), Dairban and Galaëd being friends (also hot!), and Galaëd being a little shit.
Dairban is Meryw's podtwin, a Warmaster of the Vigil and Laranthir's close second and belongs to my ever partner in crime @lilypixy !
Tumblr media
Galaëd did not remember how it started. A word. An insinuation. And his antlers ramming into one of the recruits. Dairban seizing him by the waist and tearing him away from the fray only to join in himself. And here they stood, in Laranthir's office, while raised voices rattled the walls of the Vigil Fortress.
The doors slammed open and the Grand Warmaster stormed towards them, a disappointed expression on his face.
"Sit. Both of you." he ordered, before they could even rise from their seats.
His expression was cold and judgemental. A severe disappointment written in bright lines his face.
"I have six recruits harbouring bruises, cuts and electrical burns. Anything you wish to add to that list?"
Galaëd scoffed. There was a certain number of things he would have added to that list, yes...
Tumblr media
I tag in this my regulars ^^
@curiousartemis @monaskydancer @i-mybrunettelady (right back at you, Nero! <3 grace us with some gw2 inspired WIP fragment?) @kerra-and-company @dumb-dumb-mander @thorns-and-brambles @just-eyris-things @uselessidiotsquad and I'm quite certain I'm forgetting a few people so, really whoever finds this!

For the Twins - 🍰: What's something your OC counts as unforgivable?
For Rorschach - 🍟: What does your OC admit to be their guilty pleasure? What actually is their guilty pleasure?
For Jiirka and Iotzza - 🍕: How does your OC spend a lazy day?
My first ask! Thank you @archesa ❤️!
🍰 : Meryw and Dairban, despite their similarities in character, have different standards.
Meryw worships knowledge and truth, and would be horrified to see someone destroy a book. The Elona campaign was a bit jarring for her companions, as the usually kind and demure dragonhunter had taken a personal vendetta against the Lich.
Dairban values justice above all, but his true trigger is disloyalty of any kind. Like Commander Rorschach and his orderly Galaëd, he was shocked when Caithe took Aurene's egg and saw it as treason. He never forgave her for that.
🍟 : Rorschach will readily admits to loving Zhaitaffy to the point of Sieran finding wrappers tangled in his mane, but his true guilty pleasure is scratching his chin against Galaëd's antlers, whenever he can do so without the sylvari noticing.
🍕 : Before Aurene's birth, Iotzza and her nephew liked to take a stroll in the jungle, her teaching Jiirka about various flora and fauna of the Metrica Province, or summoning a minion for the little warrior to chase and fight in the bushes.
After the Scion appeared in Jiirka's life, the old scourge spent more time with her own overgrown lizard (her words).

I would be glad to know about any of your characters!
midnight, heartbreak, mask, monster, secret
Thank you 🥰🥰🥰 I'll gladly shed some light on their darkest moments for you 😄
Midnight - What keeps your OC up at night? Do they have nightmares? Fears? Anxieties? What do they do in the small hours of the morning when they should be sleeping?
For Galaëd, there was the memory of his brief fall to Mordremoth.
The mere idea of harming his allies, his friends, his lover is unsufferable.
The deaths of Rorschach - first at the hands of Balthazar, then in the jaws of Kralkatorrik and the discovery of his corpse in Dragonfall gave him enough to have nightmares about for a few lifetimes.
And in the darkest nights he reminisces of the threats they still face, of their most triumphant victories and their cruelest loses. The loss of Trahearne almost drove him insane. The loss of Rorschach almost killed him. He dreads to think what he'd become should he lose Canach...
Heartbreak: Have they ever had a relationship that ended badly? Experienced some other kind of heartbreak? What happened?
He has always had a difficult relationship with Caithe.
From the bloom there's been a certain reservation on Galaëd's part - he's always been closer to Trahearne - and her stealing the Egg and driving them to a hunt through Maguuma tore beyond repair an already strained bond. It will take years for Galaëd to regain whatever esteem he had for Caithe after that. (did I already mention that Galaëd is flippin resentful?)
As for heartbreak, Canach vanishing after being freed of his service to Countess Anise hurt.
Galaëd was oblivious to his reasons to flee Centra Tyria at the time - a run in with the Consortium in Amnoon would soon dispell any doubt he had about Canach's motive - and he was pretty distraught to have missed his chance with Canach.
Mask: Does your OC wear a mask, literally or figuratively? What goes on beneath it? Is there anyone in their life who gets to see who they are under the mask?
Galaëd endeavours to maintain an air of respectability - the Valiant, the white-knight, the Vigil - but over the years more and more people are allowed to see beyond this mask - the merryman, the trickster, the brethren.
Tumblr media
He is open-hearted with his closest friends - Rorschach, Trahearne and Canach know about everything about him - and does not purposely keep things from his guildmates – even if he is naturally more reserved – but endeavours to keep the rest of the world in confusion regarding his character.
Monster: Is your OC monstrous in any way? Is there something that makes them monstrous? Are they aware of their own monstrosity? Do they accept it or reject it?
He is capable of cruelty when his heart is in harm's way. He took care of inflicting as much pain as he could to the High Inquisitor when he killed him - a small revenge for the confessor torturing Canach... But he hates this part of him.
Secret: What's one secret your OC never wants anyone to know about them?
That he quite often reminisces of his first confrontation with Canach 😏🌵

ask game hours—have 🍎🌶️🥭🍑 for galaed, if you’d like! :) @kerra-and-company
Thanks a lot!! Always very happy to delve into Galaëd and De Draconis Mobile! 💛 possible spoilers to come for both the canon and the AU 😁
🍎 [RED APPLE] Who does your OC value above all else?
This one's hard! Because it's a tie between three people, really! Canach, Rorschach and Trahearne ! Without the three of them, the world loses its colour.
Of course he does lose Trahearne. And Rorschach. But when you see the effect their deaths had on him, I'll let you imagine what he would become should any harm befall Canach.
🌶️ [HOT PEPPER] Who would your OC declare their sworn enemy if they could meet them?
Vorpp. He didn't like the asura when they first met at the Queen's Jubilee, but he couldn't quite place what was amiss... something about his demeanour, the sound of his voice, his disdain of Scarlet that seemed to encompass all sylvari. Everything about the Arcane Council envoy gratted on his nerves.
Now, knowing what Vorpp has done? That he and his krewe were responsible for the vivsection of Malomedies and the death and torture of more than 20 secondborns (including Canach)... let's just say that Vorpp would be wise to steer from poorly lit alleys if he ever meets Galaëd or the twins.
🥭 [MANGO] What colours best represent them and why? Does this differ from their favourites?
His colour scheme was well thought, actually 😁 I wanted him to take after a birch tree (because the eponymous character in my novel comes from a birch and aspen forest) hence the white bark and black markings. Incidentally black and white are the colours of the Vigil, which made sense for him (in the novel, his character is a swordmaster, mentor and most loyal friend to Lucius, so him joining the Vigil seemed only natural).
The orange comes from both his affiliation to autumn and dusk, and suit his bright, warm and hopeful nature.
And violet – his favourite colour – comes from his illusions and his unconditional attachement to Rorschach.
🍑 [PEACH] How do they show their kindness? How kind are they truly?
Galaëd thrives much more in the logistics than the actual fighting. He loves, and he's good at organising the army's supply lines, ensure the wounded are properly evacuated and treated, the troops fed and equipped. He cares for his companions and for the civilians they protect. Some must fight so all may be free.

multiple comms ask -> 1, 5 and for some angst, 8 :>
Thanks for the ask!! Here is some De Draconis Mobile lore 😁
The Multiple Commander Asks are still very much open, as a preambule to a soon to be posted prologue to DDM (It is time!!)
Tumblr media
1 / At what point during the story do they meet up?
Big question!
Let's start somewhat chronologically!
Lilja and Aldrei are childhood friends, with Aldrei being a sort of elder sibling figure to Lilja.
Iotzza is Jiirka's 'aunt' and mentor.
Meryw and Dairban are podtwins, and bloomed a few hours before Galaëd. They shared a few visions of each other in the Dream of Dreams, and fought the Shadow together.
Elianora met Iotzza, Jiirka and Aldrei when she joined the Whispers.
Galaëd and Dairban joined the Vigil around the same time and met Lilja there.
Meryw met Rorschach at the Priory, and eventually became Sieran's second mentee.
Rorschach and Galaëd met on Claw Island, and Trahearne had them work together from the very early beginnings of the Pact, having been a firsthand witness of their synergy in battle.
Two other members : Tora and Lucius join the guild later, respectively during Season 2 – as an emissary of the Olmakhan tribe – and after Path of Fire – as an agent of the Order of Shadows.
5 / Did all of them, only a few, or just one of them go through the dungeon storylines?
Rorschach explored the Catacombs with Sieran, a few weeks after he joined the Priory.
Galaëd and the twins went with Caithe at Twilight Arbour.
Elianora, Iotzza and Jiirka found themselves together at Caudecus party. (The first feat of the infamous Terror Trio!)
Iotzza and Jiirka cooperate with Lilja at Sorrow's lament... add a dash of Zojja and Kudu to an already very explosives mix!
Honor of the waves calls for intuition and diplomacy, so Aldrei and Meryw are the wisest most natural choice.
The Citadel of Flames is an opportunity for the recently anointed Commander to scare his Tribune Brimstone and Captain Thackeray into submission with the now infamous Terror Trio!
8 / Who mercy killed Trahearne?
Rorschach.
It would have destroyed Galaëd.

have 🌈🔥☁️🌟 for whichever two of your folks you feel like talking about :D (or just one if that’s too much!) @kerra-and-company
Thanks so much for these! And thank you for your patience! These took forever for me to answer, I've been busy with work and my mind was abuzz with thousands of thoughts that I could not get a hold onto... Constant white noise, plenty of plot bunnies running everywhere and no focus on anything... Somewhat better than pure creative drought but still quite frustrating!!
Anyway, here are some HC that I hope you'll enjoy 😘❤️🍂
🌈 RAINBOW - what advice would they give to their younger self?
Despite being (or perhaps because of that) a chronomancer, Galaëd knows better than to risk interfering with his or anyone's past. The ripple effects are too wild, too unpredictable...
That being said, a harmless pieces of advice he'd gladly have returned a couple minutes in the past to offer himself before disaster stroke :
Never. Try. To outsass. Dairban.
You will lose, and end up being exposed and kinkshamed in front of your entire guild and the Grand Warmaster of the Vigil.
Abridged transcript of the exchange as registered by Scruffy, 1334 AE :
[Dragon’s Watch pondering why, despite being a ranger, Laranthir doesn’t a pet]
Galaëd : Well, he has Dairban!
Dairban : Bold words from someone consistently impaled on a cactus.
Galaëd : What?
Dairban : *throws Galaëd on Canach*
🔥 FIRE - do they have any self destructive tendencies? what habits do they have that hinder them from becoming their best self?
Galaëd will deny it with all his might but... he can get a little... bit... irrationally... jealous.
Jiirka and Rorschach will mercilessly tease him for the dark glances he’ll throw to a certain corsair, when Canach first considers leaving for new adventures aboard her airship. It’ll take a pep-talk from his friends -- a quick reminder that it is well and definitely established that cunning, manipulative women are not Canach’s type -- and Canach casually asking Galaëd if he’d rather request a leave or an official demobilization for the poor twig to realise his partner never even considered leaving without him 😅Where to ? Only time will tell!
Tumblr media
☁️ CLOUD - a soft headcanon
Draconis Mons is... not Galaëd’s favorite place! Apart from the constant humidity - seriously at this point I’d just rather it rained! - the sheer abundance of briars and liana, so soon after the campaign of Maguuma would already have been a waking nightmare without these damn antlers getting caught in everything, everywhere, all at once!
But Rorschach has been exceedingly patient, untangling his friend from whatever weed had latched onto him with nary a peep! An exceptional show of restrain when Galaëd looked like this, for the majority of the trip!
Tumblr media
🌟 GLOWING STAR - what do they think about when they look at the night sky? is there someone they want to star gaze with?
The skies turning from a molten gold to a deep purple and the stars coming alive on the deepest of blue, dispelling the last shadows of the nightmare still clinging to his mind, even as the dragon writhed and died, still trying to poison the Dream...
The menders had calmed him and reassured him, after the dragon faded, defeated by a handful of future Valiants — one of which he'd soon enough recognize amongst his fellow recruits, within the Vigil — and he spent his first hours in the waking world watching the stars and fireflies dance above the shallow water of Caer Astorea.
Whenever he observes the stars, he feels called back to this moment, where the world seemed a quieter, easier place — his destiny, the path he was born to tread laid at his feet — where he was content, and proud, and comfortable and hopeful.
Of course, life is seldom as simple as menders and luminaries would have the saplings believe.
And he enjoys his life, rich and chaotic and full of love and laughter as it is!
But stargazing remains a suspended moment, a bubble out of time and space, where he can pretend nothing exists apart from the skies above and his loved ones besides. And, of course, he particularly enjoys stealing such moments with Canach.

🖋 How about one (or two) drabble(s) for the time when Anwen met the twins?
Torn from the skies
Tumblr media
The skies were ablaze. Blackened carcasses of metal and wood twisted in threatening shapes drew on the horizon the horrifying reality of their defeat. In the distance, screaming and fighting, shrieks and explosions thundered, echoed and died beyond the flames, devoured by the jungle.
Anwen stumbled up the rock promontory, stricken by the devastation before her.
She barely heard the shocked whispers of her comrades, drowned by her own terror and the bellowing chaos of torn metal and splintering wood as the remnants of the Glory of Tyria disappeared in the entanglement of vines on the horizon.
The fortune encampment, fortified with the still scorching remnants of an airship reactor fared no better in the omnipresent threat of the jungle.
Two twains of guards kept the breaches ripping the metal rampart apart. They took aim at the newcomers and maintained their rifles at arms till they entered the camp, where the rest of the soldiers kept a watchful vigil on a few familiar faces.
"Laranthir! I'm glad to see you survived! I need a status report, now."
"You're a welcome sight, Commander.", the Grand-Warmaster saluted. "The situation is grim. Mordremoth tore the fleet apart. Trahearne and Destiny's Edge were taken prisoner... The Mordrem could have killed them, but instead took them alive. Mordremoth must want them that way. I shudder to think why.", he added darkly. “The Pact is in ruins. Leaderless. And the remaining soldiers no longer trust me."
"And you're surprised?", Marjory spat, oblivious to Anwen's tense glare. "Scarlet. Aerin. And now this. Mordremoth always uses sylvari to do its dirtiest dirty work.”
“Jory.”, the Commander cut sharply, pointedly positioning herself beside her shield-maiden, a barely audible gasp stuck in her throat and her eyes downcast and pained. “This isn't helping. Our forces are scattered, survivors stranded in the jungle. We must regroup and secure rally points for our soldiers, and safe passage for our wounded. Laranthir, where are the rest of the Reavers?”
“Carys commanded an unit aboard the Glory of Tyria, and I, another. Those who had resisted the call and survived the crash regrouped under my command. We got separated while trying to reach Amber Sandfall. A dozen of ours were taken to the caverns.”
“Have you mustered a rescue team?"
"I wasn't able to. My troops refuse to risk their lives following my orders. They fear I'm leading them into a trap."
“But they might follow you, Commander.”, another sylvari intervened.
Anwen stared at him, bewildered. Ashen of bark, his face framed and his head crowned with scales resembling a pinecone, the light-armoured vigil was the spitting image of Meryw -- only their size, and the colour of their eyes, hers a crystal teal where his were wreathed in gold and violet, setting them apart.
“Warmaster Dairban.”, he saluted amiably, his demeanour as open as his twin sister’s despite the precarity of their situation.
“Honoured to finally meet you. Meryw speaks in high regards of you, I’m glad our paths meet at last -- even if I wish it were under different circumstances. I need volunteers for a rescue mission, I suppose I can count you in?”
"Don't let the plants trick you into that fool's endeavour, Commander!", a charr bearing the colours of the Priory snarled. "We must focus on strengthening the defenses around here. Our priority has been and must remain to salvaging weapon parts from the crash site.”
“The Pact does not abandon its own, soldier.”, Laranthir opposed calmly.
“Look around, 'sir’. There is no more Pact. And the prisoners you want to save are probably already dead.”
"Get a grip on yourself, Explorer!", Anwen admonished. "Laranthir is still your commanding officer. And he has my full confidence. The Pact has been beaten, that much is true. But we are not defeated yet. We will burn Mordremoth to the ground before we surrender to it.”
She turned to the Grand Warmaster.
“Laranthir and the Reavers will join the search-and-rescue team. If you're not on that team, dig in and fortify this position.”
“It's not worth risking more lives to save sylvari prisoners. Even if they're still alive, you can’t expect us to trust them after what they did to the fleet! Who says they won’t turn against us at the first skirmish? Sylvari belong to Mordremoth, now.”
“Did you just condemn my entire race?”, a rough voice snapped. “It seems the dragon brings out the worst in you, too.”
“Canach is right. Mordremoth wants us to turn on each other. Are you going to play right into the enemy's hands?”
“No. But I’ve come here to slay an Elder Dragon. Not to wait in line to be slaughtered by its minions. This camp won't last another night. Those amongst you who want to live, come with me!”
A warhorn sounded, thundering upon the gorge and casting the Explorer to her knees, lightning ensnaring her ankles and wrists and pinning her to the ground.
All eyes turned, expecting to find yet another crazed sylvari but instead were met by the freezing cold demeanour and disdainful sneer of the warmaster elementalist breaking the circle of Vigils held at gunpoint, lightning engulfing him as it tightened around the charr.
"You filthy coward.”, he chuckled incredulously. “You swore your blood and honour to the Pact when taking this mantle and when the shadow of the dragon looms darkest over us, you'd turn your back and leave your brethren?”
The deserter convulsed, once, twice and fell limp on the ground, electric arcs holding her like shackles, but no longer coursing her body.
Riffles clicked. A crystal shield encased him. And a panicked voice shattered the deathly silence.
“Hold your fire!”
Meryw was standing between her twin and the Commander, and the Commander between Meryw and the raised barrels of three silver shotguns.
The lightning dissipated in flickering sparks, and the charr took a deep, ragged breath.
"You see?", she coughed, red staining her fangs where the shock had made her bite her tongue. "They're not to be trusted! They will kill us all!”, she cried pointing at the warmaster staring down at her, his golden eyes ice cold and the shock long faded, giving way to an eerily static expression. “You stay and die there for all I care. I’ll stick to protecting the companions I know I can trust. Gunnard, Gatt! Come on. We'll fare better off on our own.”
“Can’t fault Dairban on this, Metella. You count me out of your tiny mutiny.”, the asura rebuked. “My duty is to my fellow soldiers. I'm staying.”
The charr shook her head dejectedly.
“It’s your funeral. Good luck—you're going to need it. As for you, Commander, you may be blind, now. But I hope you open your eyes before one of these ferns inevitably slits your throat.”
A heavy silence weighted on the fortune camp, a knell resounding to the bones of the earth as a good quarter of the survivors headed off in the jungle.
Lips tight and joints blanch as she curled her hands to fists at her side, the Commander swallowed thickly and turned to the remaining men.
“Everyone fall in. Let's get to work! Braham, I want you and Taimi to find and weld some metal pieces to the outer rim. We must seal off these wide breaches, focus our fire on a single entrance. Crusader Gatt, you’re in charge of the camp while the Reavers and I search for our prisoners. Jory, see if you can stabilize our most heavily wounded enough so that Kas can portal them to Amber Sandfall. I need Meryw with us in case the captured soldiers need healing. Rox, you and Frostbite, take a twain of men to scout around and see if we can anticipate the enemy’s move, maybe set up some traps — trip wires, explosives, whatever we got at hand. Canach, you’re with me. I want to know if we’re running into a trap.”
They progressed out of the camp, under the wary gaze of their fellow soldiers and companions, and to a long eroded flight of stairs descending in the depths of the canyon.
“Thank you for taking our side, Commander.”, Laranthir offered once out of ears reach.
“No need to thank me. I trust you, and I trust your judgement in your men. We’ve had difficult choices to face in Orr, and I expect the jungle will hold even more for us... The Pact prevailed against Zhaitan because we were united. Neither the Vigil’s artillery, the Priory’s erudition, or the Whisper’s intelligence could even have opened a way through Orr had we not stood together. We cannot afford to let doubt and mistrust fester our bonds of fellowship. And we owe to our companions to keep hope alive. So we have to look out and speak up for each other.”, she added offering a knowing nod to Dairban, standing a watchful vigil behind him.
The days would turn dark, and blood would draw, but if she had any certitude these were the one she’d build the foundations of her fortitude onto.
However strong the dragon was, there were some things it could never defeat.
Kindness. Love. And hope.

28 for Galaëd and Lilja (and maybe Dairban?). I wonder how he vews his fellow Vigil comrades!
Tumblr media
Something something, prisms revealing the true colours of light in a wide spectrum, something.
In that regard, it felt only natural that they were so different and yet so close. Flamboyant and burning bright. Devoted and valiant. Resolved and unweilding.
They had joined the Order around the same time, climbed up in rank and made their own way to grandeur — one as orderly to the Commander of the Pact, another as close second to the Grand Warmaster Laranthir of the Wild, the third as chief engineer of Warmaster Effut, a miracle after she "borrowed" and dismantled the aforementioned warmaster's golem, sometime around her first year of service amongst the Vigil! And life and war had always had their way of pulling them to one another.
For all their differences, Galaëd and Dairban shared a bond beyond their allegiance to the Order — a calling, an irrepressible desire to protect, change and improve the world, the duty of Valiants.
As for Lilja, it amused Galaëd mighty to witness her shenanigans and wonder all along who she would end up butting heads with in the end... (it often ended up being Dairban)
Apart from these occasional frictions and sibling-like disputes, they are brethrens and always manage to put their differences aside for the good of the Order, the good or Tyria.

For the ask shipping ! Galaëd with Rytlock? Or Elianora with Blish?
(@dumb-dumb-mander)
Galaëd x Rytlock! Let's go!
A few things to consider. First of all, Galaëd holds grudges tight, and he'd have trouble overlooking Rytlock's "they belong to the dragon now" attitude in Maguuma. He could probably eventually forgive him, but it would take a LOT of goodwill on Rytlock's part.
In addition, Galaëd wants a deep connection with his partner and Rytlock's aloofness moght hinder a real bond from forming (yeah I know I know that comes from the guy who dates Canach! But Canach has moments of vulnerability earlier and a stronger connection to sylvari characters, forming through HoT especially)
Third, Galaëd is loyal to a fault, but his loyalty is to people not orders or armies. He is loyal to Rorschach – not to the Commander. He is loyal to Laranthir, and Lilja and Dairban – not to the Vigil. He is loyal to Trahearne and to the protection of the world - not to the Pact. And if Rytlock tries to free himself from the strict confines of the Legion, he remains a militarily at heart and that spark of chaos – the spark Galaëd found in Rorschach, or Canach, in the Terror Trio, or even in Trahearne in a way – would be direly lacking, in Galaëd's opinion. Ice Brood Saga would of course offer him an insight on Rytlock's complicated relation with the Legion, what holds him back in this life, and being a witness of his whole arc, of his strained relationship with Crecia and Ryland will shine a new light that would perhaps allow a relationship to form.
So, basically, a ship that could only sail late, if ever!

Here's some Galaëd facts for morale boost! 🍂💫Also tagging @kerra-and-company 💜
Galaëd
01. Full name: Galaëd of the Cycle of Dusk
02. Best friend: Rorschach Grimlaugh
03. Sexuality: Gay
04. Favorite color: Deep purple
05. Relationship status: Taken (by Canach)
06. Ideal mate: Valiant, understanding, resourceful, kind at heart, fun with a dash of chaotic energy
07. Turn-ons: strong shoulders and upper back, genuine kindness (the kind that just shines through the person... you wanna pinpoint the first drop, the exact moment Galaëd fell in love with Canach ? when he knelt before a wounded mordrem to talk to him... it was motivated by curiosity, yes, but there was genuine concern, gentleness there... Aaaand the point of no return, the 'Galaëd has fallen and can't get up' moment was during Bitter Harvest, when he was on the verge of falling, and Canach noticed... once again, concern, gentleness, understanding, and a hand offered in help... just kindness), sassy humour, well-intentioned chaos, Canach calling him 'Valiant' (if you have seen Princess Bride, you will know exactly where this is going : Canach first called him 'Valiant' as a stab, a mock honorific, almost a dare to Galaëd to flaunt his status as one of the few bestowed with a wyld-hunt, but as they learned to know each other, the word lost its bitterness, its edge. By the end of Maguuma it was a sincere compliment : 'valiant', 'brave', 'fierce', 'unbreakable'. And Galaëd only realised in Elona that when Canach called him 'Valiant', he meant something else entirely 🥰)
08. Favorite food: Anything with mango in it, mushroom clove steak, rosemary roasted chicken, and since he moved to Cantha he's discovered himself a fondness for raw fish - especially chirashi!
09. Crushes: Laranthir (never tell Dairban!), Canach
10. Favorite music: He likes the sound of lute, and anything festive!
11. Biggest fear: "That I would fail so grievously that I would lose the respect of my comrades and be dishonored." - He holds his friends, his guildmates in very high esteem and he's scared to be unworthy of them. This fear particularly resurfaces when Rorschach dies goes missing in action and the mantle of Commander befalls him. Their failure against Kralkatorikk and the death of Aurene brand him deeply - his worst fear is coming true, he was unworthy of his friends' trust, unworthy of leadership. Trahearne snaps him out of this before he can spiral too far, but it is a very trying experience for Galaëd - the one that convinces Canach to file an official leave request for him, for them to take a moment away from the Pact and from world-ending threats, if they ever survive the one at hand.
12. Biggest fantasy: As of 1335 AE, he's basically living his best life, so... That this bliss never ends! (see you all on the 28th February to see our twig's dream get ruined 😅)
13. Bad habits: He closes up like a clam when something's personally bothering him (which is strange because he can be very vocal when he notices something amiss on the field!) so it's good that his partner and closest friends are intuitive 😅
14. Biggest regret: The lives lost at Thunderhead Peak. He now knows the outcome they got was the best, but it is a failure on his part that he carries with him.
15. Best kept secrets: How fast he crushed on Canach. No, seriously. It's embarassing😅
16. Last thought: *spining in my head like rotisserie chicken* Galaëd with Astralaria, Galaëd with Astralaria, Galaëd with Astralaria 💫
17. Worst romantic experience: Getting irrationally jealous of Sayida when Canach spent a lot of time with her prior to their surprise departure for Cantha, and getting mercilessly teased about it by Rorschach and Jiirka!
18. Biggest insecurity: None, really... He knows his worth, and if he has his fair share of mental scars and traumas, he has recovered from the events of Thunderhead and fares relatively well!
19. Weapon of choice: He becomes the new bearer of Caladbolg after Trahearne's death, and alters it greatly in the process of his resurrection. He still wields the thorn to this day, but the flow of magic passed between the blade and its fernhound incarnation has the sword regularly and unpredictably shapeshift. so when the blade withers and he cannot use it as a greatsword, he unsheathes an ax. (The rapier he used to carry - the blade forged by Occam as a token of gratitude to the valiant who rescued him from the Nightmare Court and defeated the Green Knight, Bercilak - is now borne by Canach)
20. Role Model: Trahearne, Laranthir, Rorschach 💜

If you're still doing these: 🖊 for Lucius and 🖊🖊🖊 for any other character(s) you like
Oooh! I had forgotten these, sorry ! 😭😅 And I very much still do them 😄
Some Lucius facts and bonus rounds for whoever! Noice! 😄
🖊️- I once said Lucius is German shepherd shaped, as in, he’s very protective of the people who manage to get close to him. From the moment he joins Dragon’s Watch, that protectiveness extends to each and everyone of the guild members.
Another thing that he is, is very aware of the impact trauma can have on a person, or a group, how it can fester, how it can heal in appearance and surge again years later due to a trigger event, how it can become alike an old scar, there, but barely noticeable, or remain as a gaping wound and cripple one for the rest of their life. As such, he will consider that pushing at someone’s limit, purposely using or abusing their frailties and causing more harm to their mental health as grave an assault as if they’d attacked them physically.
A third thing he is, is an assassin. And, he will not hesitate to pull the trigger on anyone who threatens his close circle.
So, when Smodur makes Rorschach his unwilling accomplice in the massacre of the charr in the bunker, he signs his own death warrant.
Ryland is there, when Smodur dies. But he never gets the chance to fire his rifle.
Tumblr media
There’s a suspended moment, one look exchanged as the two snipers assert each other, high above the panic Smodur’s lifeblood splattered across the table has caused... Ryland steps into the light, as the slayer of the Imperator, and Lucius remains amongst the shadows.
🖊️ - As an Elementalist, Anwen Swynwr relies much more heavily on Meryw's protection. So, when it came to launching the final assault on Mordremoth, Meryw did not take the lead of the forces of the Pact against the Mouth.
Laranthir and Dairban managed to muster a team of volunteers, a few very brave souls well decided to distract the Dragon or die trying.
And Meryw accompanied Anwen into the lair of the beast to save their friends.
She witnessed Trahearne's last request, and, if Anwen demanded a moment with him and neither of them saw Mordremoth taking over, she knows what it cost Anwen to fulfill the Firstborn's last will.
Mordremoth was struck down before its final Call could reach the sylvari celebrating their victory over the Mouth, just outside the Heart.
And Canach found Anwen in the clearing, devastated and mourning, and immediately called on Meryw to heal her before she too faded.
🖊️ - Galaëd got very close to being demoted and tried for insult and injury to a superior officer... And if not for Rorschach's insistence that he no longer answered to the Vigil's hierarchy, but that of the Pact — thus making him no longer Almorra's subordinate, absolving him of the accusations of insubordination — he'd have been in huge trouble...
"With all due respect*, General, spreading slander against one's late superior is borderline insubordination too... and insulting the memory of said superior in front of their brother is without a doubt a greater injury."
(*Dragon's Watch favoured diplomatic expression as it specifies nothing about the amount of respect due... could be none.)
🖊️ - That became needlessly angsty, we need a soft headcanon to wrap it! And since we're close to Wintersday...🎄✨
Galaëd will gladly decorate his antlers with tinsel and evergreen garlands during the holiday. Twas Rorschach who gave him the idea when he jokingly placed some light decoration on his head, their first Wintersday after his antlers grew and it became a huge part of their holiday cheer to find light but pretty items to place on the mesmer's branches.
Tumblr media
They both agreed to never attempt such a prank with Dairban, though! (however tempting that might be)

35, 40, 48 :eyes:
Thanks for the asks!! 😁
35. What was the worst experience in story?
End of Heart of Thorns, where I was, quite obviously, crying my eyes out (I knew what was coming, but I didn't know we'd be the one to kill Trahearne and I wasn't prepared for how brutal his death would be... The fire/leyline energy consuming him, and the explosion ? Huge 'nope' for me! I somehow manage to slap my headcanon that these are Anwen's flames cleansing him of Mordremoth's corruption so I'm good now but...😕) and the cutscene ends, and poof! Suddenly I'm standing at the base of the spiral of the heart of thorns with the lil happy ''quest completed'' jingle!
It took me so much by surprise that I either shouted or laughed (@lilypixy could probably bear witness there, I don't remember which one it was but it was either one or both 🤣)
I was so furious! 😅
40. Do you visit dungeons?
No. I wish I did though! @lilypixy and I should get to it someday ^^ we've been planing on doing so but always end up caught up in the story or the achievements and we never actually get to it!
48. Post last screen you took in game.
Don't have my computer at hand right now, so I'll take a wild guess and provide the screen the da after tomorrow!
It's either a screenshot from Anwen and Meryw in Neo Kaineng or a screenshot of Æthnen and Dairban during one of their infamous flat-fuck meetings 🤣 Probably atop the volcano in Emberbay!

Hiya, from the wedding ask game: 1, 2, 17, 19 for BOTH your trammader ship and canach x galaëd. I'd love to hear you gush about your ships xD
Wiiiiiiiiiiii !! Thank you so much! I just LOVE these Wedding asks! and I am thrilled to share hc and drabbles with you! 🥰 I must admit I had a lot of fun with the Canach x Galaëd ones so I'll start with them! But fear not, the Trammander answers are coming soon!
1/Who first brought up the option of marriage? Was it an easy topic?
I think it might have been Canach.
As a passing joke, a remark on how a suit would look on Galaëd, or how a certain ring would compliment his bark. Galaëd did not think much of it at first — technically, they had already gotten married in Cantha during the events that would lead to the end of the Dragon Cycle, an administrative marriage, they waited for an eternity in an obscure administration's waiting room, signed a bunch of paper and there! they were married – so it certainly was a frustrating topic to broach for Canach.
2/Which one proposed? Was it grand and public? Discreet and private? Was it expected?
Canach eventually decided to propose when it became evident that Galaëd would remain obtusely oblivious to his hints lest he smacked him with a ring and flowers or something. Which is... precisely what happened in the end.
Because, unbeknownst to Canach, in the meantime Galaëd was absolutely freaking out and being a real nuisance to Rorschach, Sieran and Dairban because he had gotten - forged - a ring himself and was overthinking every flippin detail for his grand proposal. He had gotten a passiflora flower and encased it in crystal and had since proceeded to panic at every twist and turn, wondering if this was actually the right gift, he didn't want to reopen old wounds but Southsun was their first encounter after all and they had already revisited that scenario quite a few times — thorns! Galaëd, that was too much information!
And what if he ridiculed himself with such a sentimental gift, when Canach could have all the passiflora inflorescences he wanted now that he owned the Consortium... what do you offer to someone who could probably buy the world...
And Galaëd would probably eventually follow Dairban's advise and, in the Champion's own words 'grow a pair of pinecones' – you do realise you just called yourself a dickhead in the process, brother – and just propose if Canach was not about to beat him to that!

So when Canach arranged a date, on a clear summerset evening — a dinner with some music, a walk under the stars, and fireworks — Galaëd felt the weight of the ring in his pocket, pulling him forward like gravity. Until he finally gave in to the gravity and got down to one knee just as Canach pulled an ametrine brooch, engraved with a motif of stars and setting sun.
Tumblr media
Canach froze. Lime enlightened the blooming night and a bouquet of roses crashed on his antlers.
"Is that a yes?", Galaëd asked, removing burgundy petals from his amber leaves. A hand grabbing his tie and pulling him into a kiss was all the answer he'd get.
"After you, Valiant."
17/Show us their vows. Did either of them tear up at them?
[Archesa.exe has stopped working. Error 404. Vows not found. If the problem persists, resubmit your request in 3-5 work days.]
19/What was the ceremony like? Any highlights?
The ceremony was fun and light-hearted, with just a flare of theatrics.
Faren had graciously offered the venue : his newly and quite flamboyantly restored manor, on the north-eastern border of Queensdale. The grand housing could host as many guests as desired, as long and as comfortably as the celebrations would require, and the guild's satelite patron was more than delighted to help organise the whole event and make Canach and Galaëd's vision of their day come to fruition.
