Ok, I know we are all excited about the news and all but i feel like i need to give this as a PSA:
Don't be fucking weird.
As a nosy bitch myself, i empathize with the curiosity. I mean, we all wanna know all the deets and all the gossip and such, and I know we have all been waiting for this moment since that Game Changer episode, but, as a reminder, NO INFORMATION ABOUT BRENNAN AND IZZY'S CHILD IS ANY OF Y'ALL'S BUSSINESS.
The babies gender, name, NOTHING. Don't bother them, you are a STRANGER. THEY DON'T KNOW YOU. YOU ARE NOT THEIR FRIENDS OR FAMILY. SHUT UP. The internet is a weird, cursed land and any parent would be wise to not let their infant's image come close to it with a 20 mile pole. Celebrate the news from your place. Be happy for them and for this new stage of their life and ZIP IT.
Anyways, congratulations Brennan and Izzy! Your child won the fucking lottery, you are gonna be amazing parents!

i realize now that the sound here is likely just aabria trying not to choke as she puts her mug down. however, in the moment, i had fully accepted the reality of there being an audible sound effect for brennan's brain dropping out of his head

just to throw my own theory in the mix here:
the "not the bear, but the bear is a stand in" thing that tula is remembering is one of two things:
1. Tula trying to heal Geoffrey and failing. Trying her best to save her husband's heart, losing her own in the process (since she took damage from healing the bear's disease, i believe).
or
2. Geoffrey healing Tula, giving up his own heart and life to give her just enough life to take care of the kids.
either way i'm sobbing.

Can’t stop thinking about this post and it’s implications.
I know it’s a joke but HAVE we seen Tula eat? She’s always making sure her family, her children are fed, but I don’t remember any explicit mention of her taking any food for herself. We know she almost never sleeps, and it’s been laughed off as her being a single mom that works two jobs.
But how horrifying is it to learn that in order to keep up the momentous task of being a single mother, you literally have to climb out of your grave and just keep going? That when you have children, not even death stops your devotion and the subsequent responsibilities. She is the perfect mom not in spite of being dead but because she is, because she has no physical needs of her own to tend to

this stoat family is going to be truly something in these coming weeks. first episode and i'm already feeling it.
siobhan and izzy's character interactions as jaysohn and lila are so so good. true sibling behavior. kids who can kick ass. little rascals. even though this is a full family season i have a feeling they're going to have a whole thing of their own. and watching siobhan get to really go ham is delightful.
thorn vale and viola. my god. talk about making an impression in the dome right there. jasper and rashawn are just excellent. the way that every interaction with the cult members goes tells you so much about who they are as stoats.
that first scene with ava and tula. mammalian grooming. erika ishii, never change. i knew brennan was playing a single mother this season, but by god is it coming across so well. tula is stretched thin. and erika is in their element with ava. first non-caster of her d20 characters. the werther's original. a grandmother.
everyone is leaning towards partial casters and martial classes this season. 2 paladins, a ranger, a monk, ancestral guardian barbarian, and an inquisitor rogue. it tells you a lot about the world dynamic and how this is going to be constructed. they aren't your average stoats, that's for sure. dex is the most common high stat with wis following--i'm anticipating a lot of stealth and perception checks.
anyway, i'm very excited for the next episode. the spreadsheet is updated with class information for this season; assuming they level up at some point that may change. they may not. take a look if you'd like.

The day comes quietly.
It is not when they defeat Phoebe. It is not when she meets Bennett after midnight. It is not even when her nieces and nephew are born.
It’s Lila, poring over books Tara brought her, the incredible discovery that discovering read was the only the beginning. It’s her mother, telling Thorn stories about her father over breakfast, and the honour of hearing: I wish you would’ve known each other. It’s Jaysohn, leading his cousins in race after race after race, Lukas by his side, until he blissfully exhausts all of them. It’s Vi, laughing with her about the beautiful, horrific absurdity of childbirth until they can’t breathe.
Somewhere in the morning, somewhere in the afternoon, and somewhere in the evening, Tula notices what she doesn’t notice: an ache in her bones, the heaviness of her eyes, her heartbeat.
She is not only happy. Lila’s curiosity reveals more dangers about the world. The stories about her grandfather make her miss him in a way she never had time to before. She watches Jaysohn to make sure he doesn’t injure himself or his little cousins; she has to remind him how little they are. She knows that as much as being a mother gives to Viola, it takes from her too.
But at least she’s feeling all of it.
At night, Lila wants to read the family a bedtime story. Tara told them it’s a human tradition, though usually the mother reads to their children. Lila was happy to subvert expectations, maybe because she wants to show-off, maybe because she has a deep empathy that impresses Tula as much as it scares her. Doesn’t really matter: it’s a beautiful gesture all the same.
Tula agrees, because she’s not tired at all.

This is so small but in episode 8 of adventuring party, Aabria mentions how Tula and Ava are so similar to flight for fight and like. That's just so cool. Because all of Ava's outside person is so rough-and-tough and willing to fight any enemy, but deep down all she can do is run from her big emotional issues and deny them until she can't any longer, and Tula spends the whole series attempting to run from danger and stay away from conflict but when it comes to emotional baggage, she's so much more willing to face those issues and talk about them. God I love this shit so much

So I've already posted this as a reblog to one of my previous posts, but it felt too important to not be posted on it's own.
Jesus fucking Christ, that last 30 minutes, I literally felt my heart drop at Brennan's voice crack. The way he loses himself in his characters is so beautiful yet painful to watch. There is so much power in the love he pours into that fucking stoat and it has genuinely touched me. I know he's praised for his roleplaying abilities all the time, but there is something really special to me about Tula.
I'm South African, and I can understand Zulu. And one of the things that really struck me about Tula is her name. Here the word Thula is used in many contexts, but I've most often seen it being used to soothe people. When someone is upset, angry, distressed, hurt, you would pull them close and whisper "Thula, Thula, Thula." It means be quiet, be peaceful, be still, relax, and it also means I'm here, although that part is normally contextual more than anything. Saying it to someone often comes with loving words and touch, and it's a sign of care. A sign of comfort.
All Tula wants is to keep her children safe, to be there for them, to comfort them, to care for them, to thulisa them. She loves her children with such strong conviction, her love for them is ferocious almost and I feel like her name really suits her character in that way.
All that is to say, I fucking Tula and I fucking love Brennan.

if i had a nickel for everytime aabria gm’d a campaign where erika ishii and brennan lee mulligan both were pc’s and the characters they played were a bit (maybe a lot) unhinged and the other sad while there was a npc of probably british twins and a crown of candy joke was said either in the season or the ap i’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice right ?

God… Tula finally coming to her mother needing support and only getting blame, not even out of malice but because of Ava’s own bad past experiences leaving her inclined to do that… Erika and Brennan really are coming for the girls with mommy issues, huh.
(Not to mention Tula snapping at Lila earlier when she expressed her anger about her dad…but then apologising to her…having some big feelings about cycles I can’t quite put into words properly.)

Two birds of a feather/Say that they're always gonna stay together/But one's never going to let go of that wire/He says that he will/But he's just a liar
@quiddie can’t make sister characters (that I will go insane for) and then also make them have to be such a hard to draw animal! She can’t keep getting away with this!!
[ID: a digital drawing of Tula and Viola from Dimension 20: Burrow’s End. Tula is leaning on Viola, with one paw on her back and her nose on the back of Viola’s head. The both sit facing away from the viewer, with their heads both turned to the right. Tula’s visible eye is obscured by a blue splatter dripping down, Viola’s is obscured by a blue light flare.]
