"In short, I love you"
"so, you see," Spencer continued to ramble "the common saying is that dopamine and oxytocin are the hormones of love, and neurochemically speaking that's correct, psychologically, however, because there's a difference between love and attraction, the hypotesis falls flat, and that's what I'm trying to say here, I think when we're together there's certainly dopamine, lots of it, really, but the most present hormone is definitely oxytocin, you see when-"
"Spencer, Spencer..." you reached out to take a hold of his swatting hands, attempting to make him take a breath.
You were coming back from your fifth date, although, to be honest, you didn't know how you had gotten here. He had looked nervous all night, and all you did was ask if something was wrong. You adored hearing him ramble, and keeping up with his terms was certainly an entertaining challenge, but he was avoiding something, you could tell, and it was better if he could just let it out.
"You know I like hearing you talk about brain chemistry," you reassured him as you stared into his honey-colored eyes "but, can you tell me, in short, what you're trying to say?"
He abruptly stopped his words, his hands fidgetting with yours to be able to hold them into his.
"Right." he mumbled, mostly to himself, his fingers gave your palms a light squeeze, he licked his lips and let out a sigh. He was making you as much as nervous as he was, you wished he could just spit it out without so much theatrics "In short, I love you."
The heat that ran through your face, and a gulp gave him an unsettling feeling of having said something you didn't reciprocate. His brows furrowed, begging for an answer, whatever it could be.
"I love you, too" you expressed with a content smile.
Love, chemicals and psychology aside, is a wonderul thing.
