At the @outriderspresent Under the Big Sky Festival last weekend they offered a nice selection of Montana craft beer. I will not go into every one but their offerings were @kettlehouse @greatnorthernbrewing @bigskybrewing @biasbrewing @westerncider @bayernbrewing @draughtworks @tamarackbrewing The beertenders were a few familiar faces from Great Northern and they were very busy! There were two sides to this beer setup but only one for a crowd of reportedly 15,000. Though it was centrally located I think another brew station would have been appropriate. Beers were $8-9 which for a festival is fairly decent, my only gripe is that the cups definitely looked a little small (12 oz max), which may be because of MT brew laws but this was not a brewery and there was no 48 oz per customer limit. They required different colored 21+ wrist bands for each day which is a good thing. The beer was cold and on the first day I had the Bias Hazy Pineapple IPA (which is very new) and Great Northern's Fred's Black Lager. The second day I stuck to Kettlehouse's Cold Smoke Scotch Ale, which is practically an obligatory Montana beer offering at this point. Brewdog’s AGM last weekend was fun as usual. Was finally able to hook up @brewdogjames and @martindickie with some record art I made them last summer. Super cool and grounded despite the giant success these dudes have achieved. It’s always refreshing and encouraging to meet with folks who are driven and relentless in their pursuits, but are real and approachable people. Between the art, the music and my IT background I can’t tell you how often people we have known over the years get a little hype or headway in their pursuits and all of the sudden they think they don’t need you as a friend and loose their soul and integrity. Love this hazy pale ale by @fremontbrewing ! Citrus, a bit funky, hoppy without being bitter. Poured from can dated 6/4/19...very important to look at dates on pale ales/ IPAs...especially in Montana.. they crash out sooner than you think. Consistent production quality, haven't had a bad one yet. Poured into English pint glass. Nice, medium mouth feel. Tastes more than it smells.
