The word of the lourd by Lourd De Veyra is an example of a contemporary art. Why? Because it has the characteristics of a contemporary art.

Contemporary art is, in most cases, defined as art that has been and continues to be created during our lifetime. It is the art of today, produced by artists who are living in the twenty-first century and the works of De Veyra is considered as an art of today and has been created during this century. Contemporary artists work in a globally influenced, culturally diverse, and technologically advancing world. This art is a cultural dialogue that concerns contextual frameworks such as personal or cultural identity, social problems, and issues

The Word of the Lourd came from the Lourd himself—Lourd De Veyra. WOTL is a short television segment aired on TV5. The segment shows the host’s commentaries on current issues in our society. It tackles different current social and political issues such as Philippine Sports, Philippine politics, Independent Film Industry and Unique Filipino traits as seen in his videos.

He is Lourd De Veyra, a broadcaster, talk show host, news anchor, author, poet and musician. This Luminary finalist is best known for his caustic humor that takes off from national issues and Filipino pop culture. Lourd says the Word of the Lourd shows so many things about Filipinos.

It shows us the present happenings in our society. Thus, the word of the Lourd is an example of contemporary arts because in contemporary arts, it provides an opportunity to reflect on today social issues relevant to ourselves , and the world around us.
