Brett and Mackey find their lives in peril. Casey and Brett tread in unfamiliar territory. Severide chases a memory while Kidd adeptly solves a firehouse problem. Ritter puts himself in harms way during a harrowing call.

PD 8x02 - White Knuckle

The son of an influential former officer is implicated in a murder and Moore pressures Voight to charge him quickly so that the CPD isn't accused of preferential treatment. The stakes are raised in Atwater's fight against the blue wall after patrol officers stop responding to his team's calls. Voight wants to help Atwater end this mistreatment but the two can't agree on the right way to handle it.

what the actual fuck is CPD doing?! how do the writers get paid for this crap writing?!

I really have no idea. It was a slap in the face, and yet at the same time I’m not really suprised they did Jay like that. The Chicago shows are famous for dangling the whump in front of us and then utterly disappointing us in the end. I’m still so mad, but mostly at myself for believing they would treat Jay’s shooting any other way. I mean, this is the show that had a paramedic tell a GUT SHOT Jay that he didn’t need to go to the hospital because it was a “through and through” in 6x02 so... I guess I should have known better. 😡

I just want to point out...

That I have never seen Hank that worried about anyone who wasn't his kid.

Don't get me wrong, Hank takes care of, is concerned about, and is in the corner of every single person on his team.

Adam is clearly going to be his next 'right hand man', he was there for Upton when that whole thing with her old CO came up, he and Antonio have solid ground, he respects and grooms Atty, and he was there for Kim after that whole thing with her sister was brought back up.

All I'm saying is, the only time I've ever seen Hank that upset/angry/concerned in equal measures was when it had to do with Justin, Erin, his grandson, or (partner-wise) Al, but since all of those people are gone now, I think Jay is gonna fill a familial hole for Hank.

Like ever since Erin left and now that Jay's dad is gone, I feel like the CPD writers have a prime opportunity to give Hank a surrogate son and Jay a surrogate father.

I know, I know neither one of them seems like the type of people to just be cool with those roles, but the look of concern on Hank's face at the end of the last night's episode, and when Hank said, "My job is to keep you safe, and I will always do my job." Makes me think that they may angle into some family bonding with those two!
