❝ Thorns amongst the rose bushes,
May light find its way into this wretched darkness,
Lover of the flames and descendant of change,
May the cards the dealer hold decide your fate,
Jack of All Trades, Master of None ❞    ~ARCEE SPILLEKORT'S UNIQUE MAGIC INCANTATION
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ✄
Jack of All Trades, Master of None
     Absorb the unique magic or general magic of anyone and contain it inside of a card. The more powerful the magic, the higher the value of the card(2 to K). She can also use combos like a Royal Flush, Full House and such to combine magic to form a better, stronger magic. The only downside is that even if these cards can't be torn, they can be burnt. Additionally, they're stored in real decks of cards so without a card in hand, she can't activate her unique magic. When the magic is in a card, the card’s design changes into a design in which Arcee designed herself. The Ace card is a one time use card and the Joker card is a wild card in which even Arcee doesn’t know what magic is stored inside.

“When Sparks Fly”: A TFP Fanfic - Part 1:
(Bumblebee x Cybertronian OC)
Takes Place Mid-Season 2 of Transformers Prime shortly after Episode 18.
Side Note: Italics = A character’s inner thoughts.
In the vast expanse of space, everything was dark, except for the small twinkling lights produced from the surrounding stars. Cruising through the never ending galaxy was a small metal pod, an ion trail produced from small thrusters. Inside this small vessel was a lone Cybertronian femme. She had been in stasis for who knows how long and just now, the lights inside the pod began to turn on, illuminating her ruby-colored frame. She had a petite build for a Cybertronian, leaving plenty of room around her in the pod. A soft hissing could be heard as the life support systems brought her out of stasis. Her optics slowly fluttered open, revealing their pastel blue color. As she came to, everything around was hazy and she couldn’t make out her surroundings. Just as things started to come into focus, bright lights suddenly began flashing around her. As she continued to acclimate, her audio receptors began to hear a deafening alarm blare through the speakers. Primus it’s so loud in here. —wait.. The small femme shot up suddenly realizing the obnoxiously loud sound was an emergency alarm. Her optics looked around at the screens which flashed text: POD STABILITY COMPROMISED. ENTERING PLANETARY ATMOSPHERE. Memories quickly flooded back as she remembered that she was in an escape pod, one she had commandeered from scavengers whom had plucked you from your heavily damaged ship prior.
Oh scrap, I’m going to crash! She quickly strapped herself into the safety restraints as the text on the screens changed to numbers. Numbers which started counting down. TIME UNTIL COLLISION: 10… 9… 8… The moments flew by swiftly, terror gripping the small femme. The countdown continued to its end: 3… 2… 1…… Shutting her optics tightly, she prayed to Primus for safety before her pod made impact with the planet’s surface. Everything went dark.
Inside the Autobot Base…
By all accounts it was an average day at the base. School was out, and Miko and Raph were racing each other on the video game console, while Bumblebee and Smokescreen cheered them on. While Jack was helping Arcee adjust a few specs. The rest of the Autobots were for the most part, just hanging out. Ratchet as usual, the constant busybody on the monitor. The peace would soon be disrupted by an alert on the monitor, quickly garnering the attention of everyone. Optimus stoically approached the monitor to get a closer look, “Ratchet, what is wrong?” Raph turned his attention away from the video game, “Is it another relic?!” The Autobot medic shook his helm as he studied the data on the screen. “It appears that a foreign object of considerable size has entered our atmosphere. ….By the signal I would say it’s… cybertronian in origin. But I don’t see any markers determining if it is Autobot… or Decepticon,” Ratchet narrows his gaze.
Optimus stepped forward and addressed the others, “Despite the risk, we should investigate in case there is an Autobot in need.” Ratchet plugged in the coordinates and opened the groundbridge accordingly, “I will be ready in case medical assistance is needed. Be careful everyone.” The Autobots entered the groundbridge without a moment to waste. As they exited the groundbridge, the Autobots found themselves in the middle of an open Savannah. As they moved around the area, the sound of blaster fire could be heard in the distance, triggering the group to quickly move towards it. As they made their way over an incline, they could see a ravine below with an escape pod that had crash landed. There was a large cloud of dust as blaster fire was exchanged from two sides. The usual Decepticon grunts versus one lone bot whom was using the battered escape pod as cover.
“I can’t make out who the other bot is, Optimus,” Arcee muttered as she struggled to see the bot the Decepticons were targeting. “Well guess we should get a closer look!” Smokescreen leapt into the ravine, much to the dismay but not surprise of the others. Arcee and Bulkhead exchanged glances “Rookie,” before begrudgingly diving into the ravine along with Optimus and Bumblebee. The dust and smoke kicked up from the scuffle made it hard to see, but it was easy to pick out the blazing red blaster fire coming from Decepticon weapons. All Autobots engaged the Decepticon vehicons, taking them by surprise.
*Just a few moments earlier*
….
There was a deep trench carved into the ground that stretched for half a mile. At the head of this trench was the remains of the small escape pod of the Cybertronian femme. It was a miracle it was still in one piece, the results of quality Cybertronian engineering and craftsmanship. The hatch at the top of the pod began to wiggle, before loud pounding resulted in the hatch flying open. The crimson femme slowly climbed out of the battered vessel, looking around to evaluate her surroundings. She had crashed in a Savannah covered in tall grass and spindled trees with broad canopies dotted the expansive area. Where in the slag am I? In an attempt to get a better view of her surroundings, she moved to stand but a sudden pain in her side made her lose balance. She fell off the metal pod, her frame slamming into the earth below. As the femme pushed herself off of the ground and ran a servo over the crest on her forehelm. Her digits running over the Autobot insignia centered on her helm. Another flash of pain hit her, emanating from the side of her torso. The young Autobot looked to the silver armor now coated with the vibrant blue of energon. Her energon.
She was able to manage getting back on her pedes, however she had no idea how she would patch herself up on this foreign world. Suddenly, the femme felt the familiar static and thrum that preceded a groundbridge. Someone from Cybertron is here? A flash of bright green, blue and purple energy swirled as it appeared a couple yards from where she stood. As the nanoseconds clicked by, multiple silhouettes emerged from the portal. The femme stared at the multitude of Cybertronians before her, decked out in purple and black armor with Decepticon insignias branded on their chests. Decepticons?! Here?! Panic flooded her frame as she heard the dreaded sound of blasters powering up. She bolted for cover as she had little ability to defend herself in this state.
As the squadron of Vehicons began firing at the young Autobot, she managed to take cover behind the remains of her escape pod. “How did they find me so quickly? Is this entire planet swarming with cons?” She muttered to herself as she was able to draw the blaster on her left arm, which of course had to be your least-dominate. Despite this disadvantage, she began unloading shot after shot at the oncoming Vehicons. They were quickly closing in on the femme’s location, before the sound of opposing blaster fire and clashing was heard. The small femme dared to peak out from her hiding spot, only to see flashes of brightly colored-armor in-between the dust and smoke which had enveloped the Decepticon grunts. Despite this new development, she was hesitant to leave her cover. As she peaked out to watch the chaos, the gut-wrenching whirring of a blaster and pressure to her temple made her freeze.
Standing above her was one of the Vehicons, his blaster pressed to her temple and about to discharge. Before a single idea could think cross her processor, the Vehicon was sent flying off into the distance. Still in shock from the attack, the femme raised her one good blaster at the bot in front of her, her optics wide with fear. To her surprise, the mech in front of her raised his servos yieldingly, “Whoa! Don’t shoot! I’m on your side!” The mech was young, not too different from the femme’s. She noticed his white and silver paint job, with a scarlet Autobot insignia on his blue chest. “Oh thank Primus, you’re an Autobot…” She sighed in relief, lowering her weapon, “How did you know where to find me? What unit are you with?”
The young mech took a quick scan of the femme’s frame, noticing her injury, “Best to talk about that after we’re back at base. Name’s Smokescreen by the way.” She gave him a polite smile as Smokescreen began to help her up “I’m Firefly.” Firefly huh? It’s nice to meet y—-“ Smokescreen grunted in pain as he was knocked back by a blaster bolt to the chest. A Vehicon appeared from around the wreckage and continued firing. Firefly might have been down but she wasn’t out. Focusing what was left of her energy, Firefly’s frame whisked behind the Decepticon in a blur of red and yellow, moving faster than the human or Cybertronian eye could track. As the Vehicon turned around in brief confusion, two canon bolts hit the mech’s chest, taking him out of commission.
As the dust and smoke began to clear, Firefly was unsure of what exactly had happened. The sound of groaning to her right caught her attention, spotting Smokescreen as he stumbled back, clearly sore from the Vehicon’s blasts. “That… that was a cheap shot. Normally I don’t get shot” Smokescreen stated, trying to save his pride. The young femme heard other footsteps approaching, of varying sizes. Through the battlefield littered with deceased Vehicons, four bots approached. Firefly’s periwinkle optics widened as she spotted a tall familiar red and blue mech standing before her. Optimus Prime stood in front of Firefly, taking note of her injuries and the Autobot insignia on the crest of her ruby-colored helm. “You appear injured young Autobot. Might I ask your name?” Optimus said with a softened tone. She tried to compose yourself in front of the esteemed last Prime and leader of the Autobots, “…Yes Sir. Firefly, scout of the 107th Squadron. Sir.” Optimus smiles gently at the petite femme before him, “It is a pleasure to meet you. I think it is best we get you to safety before more Decepticons arrive.”
Firefly nodded quickly, limping over to her new comrades. Suddenly an extremely loud BEEEEEEEEEEPPPP caught everyone’s attention. Curious to see who or what made that sound, Firefly turned around to see a familiar bright yellow scout, “Bee?! Is that you!?” The young femme’s optics were wide as they locked with Bumblebee’s. Bumblebee looked as if he had seen a ghost, frozen for but a moment before he quickly rushed over to Firefly, picking her up in a hug. Arcee and the others stared in utter confusion. “…Did I miss something?” Arcee said turning towards Bulkhead and Smokescreen. Firefly couldn’t help but chuckle as she was embraced by Bumblebee, “Primus I can’t believe it’s actually you!” She winced in pain from her damaged arm, “But I would like to keep my arm if possible, Bee.” Bumblebee swiftly, but gently set Firefly down with an apologetic whir, albeit unable to have his gaze leave her optics. “I believe we should continue this reunion once back at base,” Optimus chimed in as a groundbridge opened up.
Bulkhead playfully elbowed Arcee to get her attention, “I didn’t know Bumblebee had a girlfriend.” Arcee quickly shushed him before following the others into the groundbridge. Bumblebee’s thoughts were… a mess. He was in absolute shock to see Firefly again, someone he thought would remain a distant memory of a friend long past. He extended his arm to the smaller femme and helped walk her through the groundbridge. Firefly accepted his assistance and stumbled through the portal alongside him. As the tunnel of swirling colors came to and end, Firefly and the others entered the Autobot base. It was quaint, by Cybertronian standards, but Firefly was just grateful to be in a safe environment. It was difficult for her to fully process exactly what had happened due to exhaustion. But she knew she was amongst friends now.
And for that, she was grateful….
To anyone who goes out of their way to read this, I thank you! Any support means the world to me. Keep an optic out for part 2!

Love is A G̴̢̈́̿L̴̥̋͑Ȋ̶̥͈̥͋̉T̶̢͎̀ͅČ̸̪͍̏H̷̰͚̳͒ Chapter Preview: Speed Metal
for the lovely @insanely-creative-things! Happy birthday! The alternative title for this chapter is: Local Wine Uncle Takes Child to Illegal Street Races
“You know Soundwave is going to offline you if I get caught,” she hummed as she sat in the driver seat. Knockout’s laugh echoed through the speakers.
“If you get caught,” he reminded her. “You can’t stay in the ship all the time Shockie. Even hatchlings got to leave their nest more than you.”
She didn’t have a good rebuttal against that, instead just sitting back as they pulled up into the line. Almost immediately, the person to the right rolled down his window and keyed KO’s arm, making her cringe. “Just don’t kill him while I’m here,” she just asked. “I still have nightmares from when I broke my arm.”
The mech just let out a growl, and they shot forward, leaving her to sigh in resignation.
He was quick, she wouldn’t argue against that, but if she wasn’t bracing herself for every turn, no doubt she’d be slamming her head against the window at every bump. As they came up to the black car, she just turned her head away, hearing the tires squealing and the metal-on-metal crash as the human was sent soaring off a cliff edge.
“He’ll live,” the mech murmured, and she felt tension bleed out of her, replaced with a giddy sense of excitement.
“Then let’s finish this!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day, she couldn’t stop her fifth yawn as she walked down the sidewalk towards where Bulkhead was supposed to pick her up. It would be her first time actually seeing where the physical Autobot Base entrance was going to be, and she messed it up by going out last night.
“You ok?” she jumped as Jack pulled up beside her.
“I didn’t think humans could yawn that much,” Arcee agreed quietly, making her snort.
“Just wait until finals come up,” she murmured. “If they’re anything like what I did online, all of us are going to be pulling 24 hours or more.”
“Ratchet won’t like that,” Jack agreed. “You did online classes? I thought you were homeschooled.”
“Uh, yeah, Up until, maybe, like, I was 12 or 13? Then S-my dad enrolled me online because his job was getting more and more difficult to do at home.” Jack just nodded, not looking too deeply into her answer. “Anyways, gotta go to, uh, Bulkhead? I think?”
“Good luck with Miko,” he chuckled, letting Arcee drive off. She’d deny it to this day that her little huff of laugh was anything more than slight fondness.
Things were… tense, later on. Miko had been blasting loud music through her phone, which helped keep Ashi awake, but… the Autobot base entrance wasn’t what she was expecting. It was a literal mesa base. No wonder they could never find it.
But that wasn’t a real concern. Jack was late.
Arcee made sure he was never late, so why, after two hours of being out of school, was he not at the base yet?
He wasn’t there when she went to the Nemesis portal spot, but no, she wasn’t concerned, ok?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ashie yelped as someone picked her up, holding her in their hands. “We’re going out again Shockie,”
The redhead groaned at Knockout’s words. “I need to get this report done,” she argued. “While I still remember where the base entrance is!”
“One little race isn’t going to hurt hatchling,” Breakdown called from the next room, where he had a buff kit ready to go. “We both know Commanders Starscream and Soundwave will be the first ones to forgive you if a report is late.”
“But it’s still the principle!” she tried to argue.
“Ah ah! We’re going out, and nothing you can do or say will stop it,” the red mech’s words sounded as final as a nail in a coffin (whatever that meant) so she put on a long-suffering face and looked at Breakdown.
“How do you deal with him?”
“I don’t.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Are you getting enough sleep?” Jack asked quietly as they walked down the steps, and she just grimaced.
“Yeah, my brothers are just assholes,” she shrugged. “They like playing pranks on each other and shooting nerf guns in the middle of the night, and Dad put me between their rooms to try and stop it. I just got caught in the crossfire.”
“Ouch,” Jack hissed. “You should tell them to knock it off, at least until Mr. Gregory’s test is done.”
“I’ll think about it,” she hummed.
“Hey, I’ve been looking for you!” Both her and Jack turned around to see Sierra exiting the school. “The race, how great was that? I was like, yeah, go Jack!”
“Race?” she murmured, and Jack’s eyes widened.
“You can’t tell O-,” he cut himself off.
“Jack totally blew Vince out of the water with that sweet bike of his,” Sierra told her. “He promised to take me on a ride.” Something made her blood both boil and freeze.
“Oh?” she just choked out instead, hating how small it sounded.
“Before we met!” he tacked on. “Sierra, this is Ashi, my girlfriend. And Ashi, the race was no big deal,”
“You got that right,” Vince snarled, pushing between her and Jack, forcing her to take some steps back. “If you think you can run with the big boys: the circuit, tonight, 11 pm.” She glanced at Sierra, whose eyes were flickering between her and Jack before the teen’s voice caught her off guard.
“Deal,”
Oh, Primus, she was going to kill him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She didn’t go to the Autobot base that day, instead going directly to the ship, to the medbay where Knockout was checking Megatron’s vitals.
“Shockie, what a wonderful surprise! Anything you need dear?”
“There’s a race circuit going on tonight at 11,” she said, getting straight to the point. “I need to be there.”
Knockout frowned. “Even I wasn’t going to have you go out three days in a row. What’s so special about this?”
She swallowed, knowing full well what was about to happen. He was the only one aside from Breakdown and Megatron who knew what the power of the words she was about to say was. “My soulmate will be racing in it.”
Knockout froze before turning to her in an accusing way. “You were supposed to keep us updated if you met them,” he reminded her quietly, too quietly for the mech. “Why didn’t you?” She shifted her gaze to her feet and murmured her response. “That was too quiet for my audio receptors to pick up. Louder now.”
“He’s…” her voice was nothing more than a whisper, but it seemed to echo through the room. “He knows the Autobots… he’s my key to getting behind their defenses.”
“Slag,” Knockout said, and she felt it. “Slaggit, hatchling, you can’t have anything normal happen to you, can you?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Knockout pulled up to the line, she was expecting Jack and Arcee, but definitely not Bumblebee, and the red mech seemed to feel the same as her if the quiet curses seem to say anything about it. “I’ll be quick,” she promised, exiting the passenger door and quickly weaving her way through the crowd to Jack and Bee. “Jack,”
“Ashi!” he snapped around, staring at her in surprise. “What’re you doing here?”
“One of my Uncles is racing tonight,” she stressed, shifting her gaze to Bee rapidly, hoping he’d get the hint. Judging by how pale he turned, he seemed to get it. “I just came to wish you luck, and there won’t be any hard feelings, right? Uncle K can be a bit mean in these things.”
“No hard feelings,” he echoed back. “You’ll be safe?”
“Only if you are,” she sighed, quickly going back to Knockout. “He knows you’re here, but not you exactly.”
“He knows you’re a Decepticon?” Ok, so maybe Knockout was still a bit pissed off at her.
“He accidentally got warped into our ship, and our first words were said while I was in uniform. And then we met out of uniform and it only took a day for him to realize who I was.” she still felt bitter over it, but just shrugged instead.
Somehow, Vince ended up between Knockout and Bumblebee, and she was very grateful for the blackout windows and the redhead teen tried to glance her way. “Creep,” she grumbled, bracing as the countdown started.
In a second, they were off, Bee and Vince instantly duking it out for first and second while Knockout stayed back in a casual third. “He’s not really trying to struggle, is he?” Knockout mused aloud, making her laugh. She did notice he was driving a bit more carefully, and she was thankful for that, even if he was watching Bee’s movements to do it.
Then, Knockout gained on Vince and spun him out, making her laugh. He continued driving forward, obviously trying to get first in what would possibly be the only friendly Autobot-Decepticon interaction for a while, when the yellow bot began to swerve, signaling that he had realized who was behind him. Knockout moved to follow him, and she realized in abject horror he had pulled his ion guns out.
“Knockout,” she warned.
“Relax. I don’t plan on hitting them. Fear is a good motivator.” he fired, and true to his word, every shot missed, and the two Autobot allied quickly left the drainage ditch in favor of an actual road with Knockout still following. Bee was suddenly trailing something, and it took her a moment to realize what it was.
“Oil!” She yelled, but she was a moment too late as Knockout spun, and by the time she was finished, she was feeling sick and seeing stars.
“Primus, Sparkie, you ok?”
She let out a wheeze and held a thumbs up. “Fucking shoot him for me,” she choked out. “I’m going to throw up in the ditch.” Immediately, the door opened, and she launched herself out of his alt-mode and onto the road.
As he started to drive away, she stumbled to the side, where she hung over the rails and…
Oh god, were they really hiding under a bridge?
Jack at least had the decency to look ashamed as he caught sight of her, but it quickly turned to disgust as Vince pulled up and got out of his car. Knockout screeched to a halt, backing up to her.
“It’s the school bully,” she murmured. “He’s an ass and a creep who can’t take no.” Knockout silently transformed, and her phone vibrated from her jean pocket. Taking a glance at it, she read:
Want me to teach a skeeze a lesson then?
Maybe her grin was a bit too feral as she nodded. The mech immediately reached down, pulling him up and tossing him into the air as he transformed. The teen was bound to the passenger seat, and without a thought, she hopped into the driver's seat with a grin. “Let’s go, Uncle K,” she giggled, and Vince’s eyes went wide as he realized who she was. He was knocked out not even a second later, so it was ok.
“What’re we gonna do with him?” she asked. “He’s only a year older than me, so he’s still technically a kid, not an adult.”
“So major body harm is out of the question then.” Knockout mused. “Psychological isn’t though. You said he couldn’t take no for an answer?”
“He’s made me his main target, but there’s probably a dozen other girls he’s tried this with before and it worked, otherwise he wouldn’t be so insistent.”
She finished up the final note just in time to hear cars circling the building, making her sigh. “Fun’s over,” she said.
“At least we got some enjoyment tonight,” Knockout sounded just as disappointed as she felt. She finished folding the papers up as much as she could while they were on the move, and as she finished stuffing them in Vince’s pockets, the sound of a semi-horn made her freeze.
Oh, Primus, they called in Prime??
The large mech immediately slammed them off the road, and it was only Knockout’s quick thinking of tying her down with straps that she hadn’t immediately been ejected as he slammed into a ditch. It left her in a daze, and all she could really do was just lay there, slumped over as Knockout frantically tried to get his back wheels on the ground.
“Stay online Shockie!” he called, thunderous footsteps getting closer and closer. As Prime easily picked Knockout up, she realized how much deep slag she was about to get into when she got back to Nemesis.
The passenger door was ripped off, and Vince was removed, and she could all but feel the disgust from Optimus as he grabbed her as well, throwing Knockout to the side. The mech transformed an angry, desperate look on his facial plates.
“Give her back,” he snarled, but he faltered as Arcee, Bumblebee, and Bulkhead all pulled up. “Slag you! Slag you all to the pits!” He drove off, leaving her alone, injured, and surrounded by enemies.
“Are you alright, Miss Lawrence?” Prime asked.
“Think you broke my ribs,” she murmured. “When you slammed into him.” he might’ve had a mask over his face, but just through his optics alone, she could tell how much that sentence hurt, and she planned on weaponizing it.
“Let us get you to Ratchet then,” he murmured. Bumblebee rolled a window down, showing Jack with a pained face of his own. A morbid part of her wondered if he had felt her pain whenever one of the ‘bots had shot her or not.
“This was my fault,” Jack’s voice was distant as if he was getting farther away.
“We must get these two to medical immediately,” Prime cut him off, and she noted in a sense of vindication that he was jostling Vince around while keeping her perfectly still. “Explanations can come later.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She hadn’t even realized she had passed out until she woke up, once again in the comically large medical berth, IVs carefully hooked up to her. A glance at the clock told her that calling Soundwave would definitely result in death, so she just carefully turned it off and slipped it under her pillow. He knew how to remotely turn it off if he needed to talk to her.
“Should you not be contacting your parental unit?” Ratchet asked, making her grimace.
“I should’ve done it the second I realized something was off with the race,” she admitted. “Calling this late in the morning would just result in him getting angry at me.”
“Is he not usually angry?” Ratchet’s voice held confusion, so she just tilted her head. “The bruises and cuts across your body indicate you were attacked.”
“Are you trying to ask if my father…?” she trailed off, just staring blankly at him. “I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed when I’m in the base, Ratchet, but I trip over everything. I fell down the stairs a few days ago here and you didn’t react, so I just thought you knew not to get too worked up.”
“I-” the mech sputtered, turning away. “Your ribs are wrapped, no running or exercise for the next two months. Optimus would like to talk to you before you leave about what happened.”
“I got kidnapped, not much more I can say,” she shrugged.
The look he gave her told her she hadn’t been convincing enough.

My Little Pony/Transformers: Friendship in Disguise, Part 1 Transcript
[This can also be found on AO3!]
[Stinger]
O: So I'm like, “No, I'm just fine with pretending this never happened, honestly.”
[Intro Music]
O: Welcome to our April Fool’s Special!
S: The Transformers/My Little Pony: Friendship in Disguise crossover.
O: Specifically, issues 1 and 2 here.  An episode covering issues 3 and 4 will be released in a few weeks.  Um, so obviously our podcast doesn't normally talk about ponies.
S: For all that it too was a popular Hasbro franchise in the 80’s- I mean, still is.
O: Yes.  I will attempt to give a short blip about My Little Pony characters that show up, but we're gonna kind of assume that you know the mane six.  Which is Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Rarity, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie.  Ah, Specs has seen some of the My Little Pony episodes, whereas I have seen... all of it at this point.  Um, so I'm reasonably familiar with most of the characters.  And uh, for the record, Twilight Sparkle is my favorite, but that's because she's basically me. [laughs]
S: This was a crossover comic that was released in 2020 (for your information).
O: Uh, most of the Transformers characters in here are part of kind of the regular G1 cast that you're all probably used to seeing in various things.  Most of them we've talked about.  There's a few we haven't um, because they just haven't popped up in the series yet.  [Like Arcee.]  The exceptions being Gauge who's from IDW2, and Windblade who's from IDW1, Cyberverse, and several other things.
S: Mm-hm.  They did some fun things with the fonts and some of the other visuals in this.
O: Such as using the Transformers font for ‘Equestria’ and the My Little Pony font for ‘Cybertron’.
S: Mm-hm.  And the character’s speech bubbles use the fonts from their respective series.
O: Some of the issues are done by who I think is the current artist for the My Little Pony comic series.  While the rest are done by Transformers comic artists- like, plural, several of them.
S: And with that we begin.
O: Part 1: Transformation Is Magic!
S: In Equestria, a pony by the name of Quibble Pants is standing in front of a newsstand complaining about some very applicable meta issues.
O: Quibble's a side character.  His whole shtick is that he picks apart plot and whatnot.
S: He's a bit of a nitpicker.
O: The newsstand pony tells Quibble (and by extension us) that this is all for fun.  So don't worry too much about continuity here, guys.
S: Mm-hm, a loud clap of thunder transitions us to a nearby mountaintop where Queen Chrysalis is up to nefarious plots
O: She [Chrysalis] is villain.  She is the queen of the changelings.  She can transform into different creatures, basically, or different ponies.  I think, judging by some of the background characters in some scenes later, that this is after she's lost control of most of the other changelings?  Though she does have a small group working with her here.
S: She plans to bring forth other changelings from other worlds to take over Equestria.
O: I'm sure you can see where- where this is going. [laughs]
S: Mm-hm, and now, on cybertron.
O: The Autobots and Decepticons are fighting, shocker.
S: The Decepticons are clearly trying to take control of a malfunctioning space bridge.
O: A space bridge that Shockwave is convinced is breaching other dimensions.
S: Suddenly, all of the Autobots and Decepticons are zapped away through a portal.
O: Leaving only poor Grimlock to smash into view a few seconds later... thinking they have all ditched him.
S: Poor Grimlock.
O: Poor Grimlock. [laughs]
S: Back in Equestria, Twilight shows up with several royal guards to stop Chrysalis but it's too late and a portal opens, sending the Cybertronians zooming past through the air.
O: Twilight is horrified to see that Chrysalis has summoned living things that are about to go ‘splat’ onto the ground, or more likely ‘crunch’! [laughs]
S: Or possibly clank, if someone slows them down-
O: [laughs]
S: But I mean, who knows?  Twilight speeds off to try and save the newly arrived Cybertronians.  While Chrysalis stays behind to acquaint herself with Megatron.
O: Bee is both surprised and resigned to see himself falling to a colorful death.
S: But Optimus grabs Bee's hand, and intends to break his fall with his own body.
O: Optimus, are you okay?  Do you need to talk?  I feel like you need to talk.  We need- we need to get you into therapy, dude.
S: It's all the self-sacrificing, but yes.
O: [laughs]
S: Yes, he needs some therapy.  The two are saved by Twilight’s a very timely arrival and magical powers.
O: The Cybertronians are just as surprised by the ponies, as the ponies are of them.
S: Bee attempts to blend in by transforming into vehicle mode, to Twilight's consternation.  But Twilight says that doesn't really help him blend in, but it's okay if they're different!
O: She comments on their ‘shape-shifting magic’ and that Chrysalis will be disappointed that they're friendly.
S: To which Optimus says... unfortunately, they are not all friendly.
O: And then we are given the most amazing image. [laughs]
S: Queen Chrysalis, as happy as a kid in a candy store, on top of a tank, aka Megatron.
O: Seriously, it's one of the best images in the comic. [dissolves into laughter] And one that was shared I think, pretty frequently after the comic came out?  So it's very funny.
S: Mm-hm.
O: And we begin part 2 of issue 1: Shine Like A Diamond.
S: Rarity and her staff at her Manehattan boutique have been volun-told to get Starscream all dolled up for his coronation.
O: You know, the outfit he's in in the G1 movie, the purple cape and the crown get up.
S: Rarity attempts to calm him down, because he is being a snippy asshole during all of this.
O: Yes, with vague, implied threats throughout.
S: Mm-hm, so Rarity says, “Happy, healthy subjects show just how good their king is, don't they?”
O: A car is heard in the distance, much to Starscream's surprise, as he didn't think the ponies had cars.  Which, he is correct!
S: Mm-hm, Arcee barrels into him with a flying kick.
O: And Starscream retreats.
S: Leaving Arcee and Rarity to introduce themselves.
O: They seem to become fast friends as Rarity thanks Arcee, and Arcee tries to help clean up the mess Starscream has made.
S: Unfortunately, Starscream returns with the rest of his trine in tow.
O: Arcee intends to fight them alone, but Rarity generates a magic shield to help protect Arcee while she fires on the jets.
S: Thundercracker takes a direct hit, while Starscream and Skywarp are herded closer together by Arcee's fire.
O: Once they're close enough, Rarity uses her magic to wrap the fabric from Starscream's cape, that she was helping make earlier, around the two of them.
S: Skywarp says, “This is stupid!  I'm out,” and teleports away.
O: Leaving Starscream to nosedive to the ground with a boom.
S: Arcee compliments an exhausted Rarity on her help.
O: While they both agree they would do anything for their friends, and for each other!  Now, you may notice that none of the My Little Pony characters have been shown in the Transformers universe, but that is about to change.
S: In issue 2, part 1: Inspiring.
O: It would seem that Twilight's assistant, Spike (the dragon) is wandering around the Ark writing a letter to Twilight.
S: Of course, with Grimlock being the only one left behind, he's presumably found Spike and brought him to the Ark.
O: Spike is of course very enamored with the big old Dinobot.
S: And Grimlock seems to like Spike quite a bit too.  Even holding him in his open palm while they get an alert from Teletraan about an attack.
O: Said attack, by way of the Constructicons, who have come to destroy the Ark while everyone else is away.
S: Grimlock transforms into dino mode and meets them.
O: Grimlock makes the mistake of saying, “Puny Decepticons, even together you no match for Grimlock!”
S: To which, they respond by forming Devastator, and stomping the absolute crap out of him.  “Grimlock and Grimlock's big mouth.”
O: Spike shouts words of encouragement to Grimlock, but quickly sees that the Dinobot is losing.
S: So he thinks, looks at the Ark, comes to a realization, and then runs inside to make his realization happen.
O: Inside, Spike flips through two large books.  ‘Modern Cybertronian For Everyday Conversations’ and ‘Teletraan I For Dummies’.
S: He then climbs onto Teletraan’s console and starts the main engine cycle countdown.
O: Spike yells at Grimlock to get down.
S: Which is, you know, not that hard as Devastator is still stomping on him.
O: Devastator is then blasted by the bit of the Ark that's still sticking out of the ground, causing Devastator to fall to pieces.
S: The Constructicons flee, and Spike checks on Grimlock.  Spike still feels pretty down about himself, because all he did was press some buttons.  But Grimlock says Spike did even more than he did.
O: “Spike learned new language, and operations system in short time!  Spike think of using busted engine as canon!  Spike use pronouns!”
S: Grimlock tells Spike that Spike inspires him, and that he's full of potential.
O: Spike collapses into a happy little puddle of dragon that Grimlock called him, “Inspiring.”  Their friendship is so cute! [laughs]
S: And now it's time for part 2 of issue 2: They Eat Ponies, Don't They?
O: We are brought onto the stage of a cooking show, “Prepping With Pinkie,” hosted by Pinkie Pie.
S: And a special guest, Gauge!
O: And all I can think is- Arcee she still one of her parents in this continuity?  Is Arcee worried about her child!? [laugh]
S: And in the spirit of cultural exchange, Pinkie and Gauge will be sharing some of their favorite recipes in today's program.  I never thought about giant robots having recipes before this, and I didn't want to think about it.
O: [laughs] Pinkie is, of course, making cupcakes.  While Gauge has brought iron filing casserole.
S: Poor Pinkie and ah, several audience members are questioning their decision based on their facial expressions.
O: Pinkie goes to start her cupcakes, but suddenly everything starts shaking.
S:  [singing] Dun, dun, dunnnn!
O: [snorts]
S: A space bridge appears with Shockwave stepping out of it.
O: He has, by his own admission, come to ‘spice things up.’
S: Ah, time for some puns.  Unfortunately, his recipes require a bit more audience participation.
O: Shockwave’s apparently come to discover how much pony it takes to fuel one Decepticon.
S: [sighs]
O: [laughs]
S: He transforms his hands into a grater and a whisk, respectively.
O: Pinkie and Gauge evade him, causing him to demand that they stay still so he can finish his experiments.
S: Oh god, by attempting to whisk them!?
O: [laughs] I know, I know!  I'm not saying it's sane!
S: I know, I mean, I read it too.
O: [laughs]
S: It’s just, now I have vivid mental images of this being attempted and everyone being very…
O: Confused? [laughs]
S: Yes.  Gauge whacks him in the head with a cookie sheet, completely bending it out of shape, and tries to get Pinkie to flee.
O: Pinkie refuses, but in the background the show's audience is running through the exit door- at least part of their audience is running through the exit- exit door.
S: Mm-hm.  Shockwave transforms his hands again, this time to a spork and spatula.  Sporking them to death is not gonna work, dude!
O: Tell him that! [laughs]
S: Mm-hm, again, with the mental images.  Gauge rips off the spork and spatula, sending Shockwave falling backwards, where Pinkie trips him.
O: Pinkie and Gauge grab some frying pans and bean Shockwave's face in between them.
S: Shockwave, thoroughly beaten by a small Cybertronian child and a pony, is kicked back into the space bridge and disappears.
O: The remaining audience claps.
S: And 47 minutes later, the duo tries the other's culinary... contributions.
O: Pinkie declares it as success, though her face implies she didn't enjoy the iron filing casserole.
S: In the background, Gauge is clearly trying to politely spit out the cupcake in a towel. [laughs]
O: And that ends issue 2.  So, join us next time for issues 3 and 4 where we will finish this mini-series.
S: And that just about wraps it up for us today.  Remember to check us out on Tumblr or Pillowfort as Afterspark-Podcast for any additional information, show notes, or links we may have mentioned.  You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter at AftersparkPod (all one word), and various other locations by searching for Afterspark Podcast, such as AO3, iTunes, Spotify, and Youtube, just to name a few.  And feel free to send us questions on Tumblr, Youtube, or AO3.  Till next time, I’m Specs.
O: And I’m Owls!
S: Toodles.

This Wednesday, IDW Publishing’s First Strike crossover begins, heralding the beginning of “year 2” of their shared Hasbro Universe stories. The Allspark is here to make sure you’re ready, and today we’re going to recap the various issues that are (and aren’t!) going to be part of the event! Read on for the lowdown!
The main event…
#gallery-0-7 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-7 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 14%; } #gallery-0-7 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-7 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
First Strike #0
First Strike #1
First Strike #2
First Strike #3
First Strike #4
First Strike #5
First Strike #6
The core of First Strike is the eponymous mini-series, which will run for six issues, two per month starting in August. A bonus issue #0 has already been released, free to read on a variety of comics platforms, whilst issue #1 comes out this week!
Written by Till All Are One‘s Mairghread Scott and David A. Rodriguez, with art by Max Dunar and Ander Zarate of Micronauts, this mini-series tells the main of the crossover event, and can be happily read just by itself – you don’t have to read the tie-in issues if you don’t want to.
First Strike kicks off just as Earth is formally joining the Council of Worlds, when the ceremony is interrupted by a reborn Cobra, led by Baron Ironblood. Ironblood’s alliance of villains plan to use the power of the Talisman, the mysterious artifact from Revolutionaries, to kill every Transformer on Cybertron, and the heroes of the Hasbro Universe must team up to foil them!
The tie-ins…
#gallery-0-8 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-8 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 16%; } #gallery-0-8 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-8 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Optimus Prime (Pt. 1)
Transformers (Pt. 2)
G.I. Joe (Pt. 1)
M.A.S.K. (Pt. 2)
Micronauts (Pt. 1)
Rom (Pt. 2)
Meanwhile, six tie-in one-shots are being released for First Strike, three in September and three in October. These issues pair up to form three two-part stories:
Optimus Prime / Transformers: Optimus Prime and Arcee team up with the Revolutionaries in the wilds of Cybertron to face the mercenary Colditz! Written by John Barber and drawn by Guido Guidi.
G.I. Joe / M.A.S.K.: Matt Trakker and G.I. Joe team up to fight V.E.N.O.M., who have signed up to join Cobra! Written by Aubrey Sitterson and drawn by Ilias Kyriazis.
Micronauts / Rom: With Earth’s heroes headed to Cybertron, it’s down to Rom and the Micronauts to defend the world from a new Dire Wraith threat! Written by Christos Gage and drawn by Chris Panda.
In addition to expanding the story of First Strike, these tie-ins also tease some upcoming new ongoing series, namely G.I. Joe: Unmasked, in which Matt Trakker will stick around with G.I. Joe, and Rom and the Micronauts, in which the tiny travellers are recruited to help the Space Knight end the Dire Wraith threat once and for all.
Meanwhile…
Whilst the crossover rages, both Optimus Prime and The Transformers: Lost Light will be continuing regular-numbered issues, carrying on their normal storylines without influence from the main event. In Optimus Prime, the absence of the titular Prime and his inner circle will give secondary characters like the colonist soldiers and Jazz more time to shine, whilst Lost Light is kicking off a three-issue storyline that catches up with Getaway and his crew of mutineers!
So if crossovers really, really aren’t your thing, you can continue your regularly-scheduled dose of Transformers as per usual!
The Allspark’s First Strike coverage will continue tomorrow with a special bonus episode of the Action and Adventure podcast, in which we’ll catch you up on what’s been happening in the Hasbro Universe since Revolution, and give you some reading recommendations!
In the meantime, check out the first six pages of First Strike #1, and discuss the upcoming event on the Allspark Forums!
Countdown to First Strike: Get the Facts! @MairghreadScott @DaveARodriguez This Wednesday, IDW Publishing's First Strike crossover begins, heralding the beginning of "year 2" of their shared Hasbro Universe stories.

Iron Factory goes a “different” route of combiner-team releasing with War Giant set “C” Cannon Chariot!.
Producer: Iron Factory
Price: Approx. $70 USD
Release Date: Dec. 2017
Item Height: Cannon Chariot Approx. 4.25″ IF EX-16H 3.25″
Item Weight: N/A
WHERE TO BUY: TFSource
The countdown for Iron Factory’s War Giant hits the home stretch with the release of IF EX-24″C” Cannon Chariot. This homage to Transformers’ “Bruticus” combiner team leader Onslaught comes with additional parts to form the torso of its combined form. As a special gift, the box also contains IF EX-16H which is a redeco of their previously released “Pink Assasin” figure paying homage to the “Combiner Hunters” deco of the Transformers character Arcee released by Hasbro this past year. Check out the video review above as well as my thoughts and gallery below and let me know what you think in the comments.
Overall Score: 7.0/10 – As stated in the video review, I really don’t have much to say on this one in one manner or another. Cannon Chariot is a great build with fantastic articulation but I feel like my personal thought of “Onslaught” being a pretty bland looking character in general keeps this one from standing out as much as it probably should for me. If you’re invest into this set, Cannon Chariot definitely isn’t a let down and even getting the armless “preview” of the combined War Giant is pretty awesome. The bonus “Hunter” version of their Pink Assasin figure is also really cool and the deco and additional weapon make it feel like more than just a repaint. Overall the Cannon Chariot set delivers and makes me excited for the last set and getting War Giant itself completed.
Check out the gallery below and if you fancy one of your own, check out TFSource and order yours.
