That scene where Leon gave her the plaga suppressor shot and he put his hand in her head was such a tender moment. His countenance turned soft and there was total concern in his eyes. I still cant stop thinking about what you said that Ashley brings out the true Leon or at least a glimpse lf RE2 Leon where he is just himself and that he really is such a caring person. And his smile when she woke up? Precious.

in fics, you always see mention of how Leon is Ashley's protector and makes her feel safe and all that other bullshit.

but there aren't enough fics that acknowledge that she makes him feel just as safe.

and for someone like Leon, who hasn't felt safe emotionally in six years?

no wonder why he ghosts her after RE4. it was probably terrifying to him once he realized it, because his trauma is always quietly asking "what's the catch?" "when and how am I going to fuck this one up?" "what isn't she telling me?" "when's it all going to blow up in my face?"

so when he cuts her out of his life, she takes that little part of his RE2 self that was still alive with her. and that's why we never see it again.
