witches, witches, they find a way. or rather, they know, don't they? though skylar both is, and isn't. magic, really, ties them together, to the world, to one another. it's that INVISIBLE THREAD weaving it all, and perhaps it's why even across the pond in a place like this, both marlene, and her, find one another all too easily. reminiscing about the beauty of home ( or at least the home marlene had between her schooling years abroad in england, how she misses it, her sweet scotland, those rolling hills, those clearer skies ), or of the strangeness of new york.
but meant to or not, the both of them have managed to find one another, marlene the first to the bar, has already secured a drink for herself when she notices the other woman by the door, waving her down to give away her position, blue eyes sparked bright. "you MADE IT!" as if there were ever a doubt, clearing her things from the barstool beside her. "you wouldn't believe the fight i had to hold you a spot."

"i try not to, if i have the choice." it wasn't always a choice. if she was in danger she knew how to fend for herself, it just wasn't her strongest suit and she tried not to advertise that. caroline shrugged. "not everything requires that heavy of a hand, and if it does i'm usually with someone who's better at it than me." one should never hunt alone, and caroline certainly was smart enough to keep to that advise. besides, her mom would kill her if she got hurt hunting alone. it was really self preservation that she always went with someone better suited to the killing part.

8. someone they view as a role model
Her uncle Duncan is really the only person she actively looks up to and it's because he really reflects the, "Do no harm but take no shit" mentality that Jess would love to be able to live by. His ability to take on his nieces and give them a safe space to heal from the shit they grew up with while also not being overly intrusive into their worlds has been a powerful lesson in how she ultimately wants to run her life. While being laid back, he also doesn't take shit from anyone and will put people in their place, which she's trying to learn how to do.

At first she thought she might be the evolved kind of person who wouldn't change anything because of how it would affect everyone around her. The she realized that changing everything for everyone was a good thing. A thing they ALL deserved...
"I'd go back to the night of the crash... I'd stay home instead of going to that party... My parents never die, Jeremy never goes down the wrong path, I never meet Stefan, Katherine never retaliates, Jenna is still alive, Grams is still alive, Vicki, Caroline is still human, Tyler is still untriggered and has an uncle... the Mayor never dies...." Good GOD just how much DID that crash set in motion?? One single event being changed could fix EVERYTHING for everyone in mystic falls....

"never," alice listened to jack, she trusted his opinion and obviously she loved him. still, when she got something in her head she wasn't going to be talked out of it. the best chance he had was for her to be talked into doing it a different, and or safer way (when the circumstances called for it.)
