Summary: Adam and Eve were inseparable, and they were always stronger together. Until they weren’t.

A/N - for July’s monthly codex prompt/ finally I post something 😅 on the last day of July

Every Adam had his Eve, and they bright out the best of each other. But like all good things, it comes to an end with a hefty price.

Bayek created the Order in his grief, and though Aya was the closest to him in this matter, he never truly had her. She was never just his wife anymore after that day, and nights felt colder without her.

Altair thought he would have that semblance of a peaceful life with Adha, but that dream slipped away when she left his arms. At least it was a life he got to have with Maria and his beloved sons before it was taken away in just one day.

Ezio was young and reckless before his tragedy struck. With a family gone and the memories of sweet Christina shattered, the remaining Auditore son tried to pick up the pieces. For the longest time, he always felt the need to constantly look over his shoulder after one too many betrayals. He never realized it stopped when he was with Sofia.

Edward and Haytham thought their directions in life would lead them to better futures, but it felt so alone in the end. At least there was the sense of bittersweet relief for Connor as he remade the Brotherhood.

Desmond felt a kinship with Lucy, but it be-grieved him to let her go. But it was for the greater good, right? All just to save the world?

A/N - For the prompt of Codexmonthly

Summary - a deep-sea scuba swim leads you to come face to face with the most unexpected surprise.

It was a best of both worlds for you. A vacation and a chance to get some photography done.

And what better way to do it in these deep waters, amongst the famed undersea castle ruins that many flocked to.

As you aimed your equipment for a few good shots, your attention went unnoticed to the shadows flickering behind you.

Once you’re done there, maybe you could get my good side.

You quickly turned your head around in the direction of the voice. Completely gob smacked, you tried to keep poker face. To keep your mind steady, you took in the details of the humanoid figure. A young man of sorts with a cocky grin and brown hair, eyes shining gold in the dark and a tail with flecks of blue, gold, copper and red.

“You’re a…you can..?!”

Yes, I’m a mermaid and yes I can talk, or rather we all can.

“So…you can talk. But in people’s minds?” The creature shrugged as he swam closer to you.

It’s a trait my familiar clan and I have picked up over the centuries, especially when we see you humans close to our shores.

Seeing an opportunity, you pressed further on in your questioning, feeling slightly bolder. “Oh, you’ve seen other humans before?”

Kinda hard to miss when your kind always likes to dance around every night. Some of my clan like you, and most would rather you all be silent

You couldn’t help but laugh to keep the mood light, seeing as how you could never have imagined this.

“So a clan..? Big family guy?”

The creature nodded to your words, playfully swirling around you with a trail of bubbles flickering from his tail fins.

You could say that, but some would be wary of me talking to you. Human, and all. But you seem nice.

He could see you visibly relax for the time being, swimming up close to observe the camera you held.

Tell you what. This could be our little secret, one nice pic, and maybe we just ‘happen’ to see each other again.

You were a bit taken aback by such forwardness, not expecting the supernatural and mysterious to be so open.

He could hear the wheels turning in your brain as you thought it through.

If it’s consolation, I took on the name Desmond, just do you know it’s me, It’s rare anyone ever comes around here, and I kinda like some visitors. So..deal?

“Deal.”
