William Daniels and the Role of KITT

William Daniels is an American actor, born in Brooklyn, New York City. He was born in 1927, to bricklayer David Daniels and his wife Irene.

In the crime drama series "Knight Rider" (1982-1986), Daniels voiced KITT, an artificially intelligent electronic computer module in the body of a robotic automobile. The series lasted for 90 episodes. The series was very popular in its time, and has had a large number of sequels and spin-offs.

KITT was built around on a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am.

Though it's been off the air for more than 40 years, the legacy of the classic sitcom "M*A*S*H" is still strong. In fact, the show's finale still holds the record, even after all these years, for the most-watched scripted television episode ever. And, through syndication and streaming, the show's audience continues to grow, too. M*A*S*H has always enjoyed a special relationship with its fans; speaking at Steel City Con a few years ago, Loretta Swit (who played Nurse "Hot Lips" Houlihan) talked about how she'd heard from one fan in particular whose life had literally been transformed by the show.

[FUN FACT] Nichelle Nichols originally auditioned for the role of Spock on Star Trek. When Gene Roddenberry and the producers of Star Trek asked Nichols to audition, the role of Lieutenant Uhura hadn’t even been thought of yet; Roddenberry just knew he wanted her on the show. Plot:

Sally is the witch princess of the Magic Kingdom who longs to visit the mortal realm, presumably to make friends her own age. One day, by mistake, Sally teleports to the "mid world" (Earth), where she uses her magic to fend off a couple of burglars menacing two schoolgirls. Immediately befriended by her new acquaintances — tomboyish Yoshiko Hanamura (known affectionately as "Yotchan") and girly Sumire Kasugano — Sally decides to stay on Earth indefinitely, leading to mischief. As with Samantha Stevens in Bewitched, Sally tries to keep her supernatural abilities secret, assuming the role of a human child.

In the final episode, Sally's grandma informs her she must return to the Magic Kingdom. Before leaving, Sally tries to tell her friends about her origins, but no one will believe her. Then her elementary school catches on fire, and Sally uses her magic to put it out. Her powers thus exposed, Sally's time to leave has finally come. She waves farewell to her friends, and returns to the Magic Kingdom.

Why does this clip make me so happy? Is it the fact that Gene is totally using his "husky whisper voice" on Jack's mom? Maybe! You know I can't resist that! 🤓 But I also really love the fact that he tweeked the ending of this story just a bit. In his version...Jeremy (Gene's character, who was the peddler) gets a family; Jack gets a new dad; and Jack's...well...she gets Gene! 🤭 Oh, also...they all get rich! Why doesn't every story end this way? 😉 Gene sure did know how to make us happy, didn't he? Hope this one gives you a smile!
