in order we have tonic (she/her) pro gamer, shes extraordinarily good at every game except visual novels (she falls asleep and somehow always chooses the wrong choices) FPS GOD and she streams like for houuuuurss at a time with no commentary just mouse/controller/keyboard asmr while she stares dead into her webcam. basically shes a shit streamer but shes just so good she rakes in the views and the love i feel like shes super popular for being a cool handsome girlie..... shes actually really polite and nice and considerate she just. is like that

alto (he/him) musician, he plays cello, saxophone, piano! he performs at a jazz bar (where coda works.) he's very straight-laced and serious with an odd sense of humor and strong sense of loyalty.

coda (they/them) flair bartender at said jazz bar. they're very flirtatious, loud, outgoing, vulgar, all of that. diehard crush on alto (who knows very well bc they NEVER SHUT UP) they're very sly and slippery and also likes magic tricks a lot

canon (she/her) idol! musician! actress! all around SUPER STAR!!! very sweet and cutesy and ditzy on stage and a calculating and cold person off of it. she can slip into any personality or character which is why she's so well-renown and loved. however tonic hasn't seemed to fall for her yet which irks her.....what will it take to win her heart......

A Response to: "How obsessive artists colorize old photos"

The idea of colorizing black and white photos gives me the vibes of digitally painting color after a value study. It reminded me of techniques like gradient mapping in Photoshop where you can map a color gradient to a black-to-white value scale which allows me to colorize a black-and-white image with color instantly.

So I took a picture from Unsplash of a bird and tried to colorize the bird in different colors.

This was a simple paint-over with a red/orange-blue color scheme in mind. I was probably just going off from the high of looking at Suspiria's red scenes and just coloring everything red and blue. My paint-over is really rough and not at all meant to be detailed but it gave me ideas of different weirdly-colored birds. Creature design maybe?

I moved on to gradient mapping in Photoshop, so again it essentially allows me to color an image based on the values present in the photo and map it a color. I did it a primarily red and green color scheme with green as the light side. I was sort of inspired by the Chromosaturation exhibit by Carlos-Cruz where a similar red-green color scheme was present.

Lastly, I did this slightly more detailed paint-over with a purple and yellow color scheme. I subconsciously chose complementary colors for each one it seems. I tried to take additional hues to create more detail, such as using a tiny bit of red on the wings and varying the purple to magenta and blue for a bit more depth to the color. Overall, I think it turned great and it was a fun experiment!

“Colour evolves continuously in time and space.” - Carlos Cruz Diez 

Venezuelan artist Carlos Cruz Diez is internationally considered a master artist of the 20th and 21st centuries for his contributions to the theory and practice of colour. He proposed colour as an autonomous and evolutive reality. His works encourage the viewers to discover their capacity to create and destroy colour with their own perceptual means while finding an emotional resonance through their personal experience.

His body of work was based on three conditions of colour: subtractive, additive and reflective and has been developed through eight lines of research: Couleur Additive, Physichromie, Induction Chromatique, Chromointerférence, Transchromie, Chromosaturation, Chromoscope and Couleur à l’Espace. Each of them responding to different behaviours of colour.

Cruz-Diez began the Physichromie series in 1959 in Paris. The term ‘Physichromie’ translated as "physical colour," is a term invented by the artist to communicate his combined intention for the works, which explore the physical dimension of colour, the physical effects of colour on the viewer but also, they encourage the viewer to experience colour or ‘chroma’ as unfolding and continually changing, much as colour is experienced in nature.
