The Design attributed to Edouard Lievre, Paris, Circa 1870, the Cloisonné Qing Dynasty, 19th Century,

The rectangular top with turquoise ground elaborately decorated with colorful flora, fauna, feathers and foliate scrolls, set in cloud-form pierced gallery, raised on cluster-column bamboo-style stem adorned with dragons, with further bamboo-style supports and similar base with outscrolled feet, signed F. Barbedienne to base.

Fossil Sea Lily Plaque, From the Jurassic (248 - 146 million years ago),

The multiple specimens of Seirocrinus subangularis displaying fine detail and elegantly positioned in the slate matrix, displaying the fossilised flotsam wood to which they would have been anchored in life, the crown of the largest specimen measuring 11 inches, the matrix cut square to form large plaque, in metal frame.

A 19TH CENTURY DIAMOND CHOKER NECKLACE

A 19TH CENTURY DIAMOND CHOKER NECKLACE Designed as six openwork lattice panels composed of circular-cut diamond swags and foliate motifs, each centering upon larger circular-cut diamond collets, late 19th Century, 33.0 cm, with French import marks for silver and gold.

René Lalique was born #OTD (6 April 1860 - 1 May 1945). Since it's also still #BatAppreciationWeek, here are a few of Lalique's many bats!

Both these pieces were commissioned as gifts for American writer Natalie Clifford Barney (1876-1972), who was openly lesbian; bats were a Fin de siècle symbol of homosexuality. But they were also popular Art Nouveau motifs thanks to Japonisme. Here is another example:

The Fool

1967

The Fool were a Dutch design collective led by Marijke Koger and Simon Posthuma, best known for their work with the Beatles, which included designing the tunics the band wore for their 1967 television broadcast of All You Need Is Love, decorating John Lennon's piano and George Harrison's Mini, painting a circular mural at the Harrisons' Surrey home Kinfauns, designing the inner sleeve of the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band LP and, most famously, painting a three-story psychedelic mural on the facade of the Beatles' short lived Apple Boutique in London's Baker Street, which was subsequently painted over by order of the local council. Pattie Boyd and her sister Jenny were fans of the collective and would model their clothing designs for the Apple Boutique. According to Boyd, this brocade ensemble was custom made for her by The Fool and she recalls wearing it during a trip to Greece with all four Beatles in July 1967 to explore the possibility of buying a set of Greek islands.

Diamond & Enamel Pink Panther Brooch

Imperial three-colour carved ‘Nine Dragon’ lacquer throne,

Qianlong period (1736-1795).

The throne is finely carved through the red lacquer to the ochre and dark green lacquer and has a stepped back separated into three vertical panels each containing dragons chasing flaming pearls amidst dense clouds.

The two side railings are similarly carved in high-relief with dragons striding amidst bats in flight and dense scrolling clouds above a rectangular seat decorated with archaistic lotus scroll and a narrow waist with a shaped apron centred with a front-facing dragon.

The back panel is carved with a bat suspending a chime and a double-fish. The whole is raised on thick rounded legs joined by rectangular base stretchers.
