Meet Niamh Whelan! My entry for @kalissimsblog bachelor challenge for Christian!

Niamh (pronounced Neev) is a freelance writer with the best selling author aspiration. Their pronouns are they/them/theirs.

Niamh is a loner, an animal enthusiast, and they’re materialistic.

Niamh grew up in a big family without much money. They have memories of being evicted and of not always knowing where their next meal would come from. In spite of that they managed to earn high grades in school and went to college, but they wound up with more student loans than they had anticipated. Due to this, they’re very protective of the things they DO have, and anything that makes them feel like they did when they were a little kid caused them loads of anxiety.

Poor kids see a lot of things, though. And nobody really listens to them. And they know better than to do anything that could be misunderstood as snitching. Niamh isn’t supernatural in any way, but they found out about magic and the paranormal when they were young, witnessing something they shouldn’t have. For a time they convinced themselves that they’d imagined it, that there was no way a world so hungry and cold could also have something as wonderful as magic in it. But they started writing and that magic seeped into their storytelling and they had to admit to themselves what they saw. Now they’re determined to find out everything they can about the supernatural.

Niamh was encouraged by their best friend to shoot their shot on the bachelor. Niamh is pretty comfortable on their own, but at the end of the day they want a long term, lasting relationship. Their friend is tired of watching them not know how to find one.

Niamh’s biggest fear is the way Christian might touch them. They were assaulted in the past and while they crave closeness they’d rather not have it then be hurt like that again. They’re attracted to Christian, but there’s a part of them that is very afraid to let someone they know is much stronger than them physically (due to being a vampire) touch them, or see them in any kind of vulnerable state.

They hope that Christian would give them enough time to learn to trust him, though.

Niamh is a HUGE animal lover. Cats are their favorite, but they’d literally sit and pet any animal. Even the scaly ones.

They’re a big advocate of rescuing animals. Adopt don’t shop!

They’re nonbinary, and they’re sexuality is complicated. They just say they’re queer.

They have a huge sweet tooth. Dessert is their favorite meal.

They occasionally still have panic attacks.

In spite of their assault history they’re quite kinky. They’re a switch.

Their hard limits are choking (giving AND receiving) and being restrained.

She’s an up-and-coming Style Influencer who is rarely involved with the mercurial politics of the occult world. Ever since Nils left Evergreen Harbor as a contestant of Christian Troyer’s Bachelor Challenge (created by @kalissimsblog) life has definitely changed for Adrienne.

Having broken up with her now ex, Scarlet, Adrienne is ready to start over in the relationship department. Why not broadcast those relationship attempts on television?

Please include at least two everyday outfits, two formal outfits, and one outfit in the other categories.

Traits wise, no romantic trait and no custom traits.

You can give them a maximum of five skills, but none above level three.

Additional Contestant Rules -

Contestants should have a bit of a past. Give them skeletons in their closets and flaws~ The contestants should have flaws that make them well-rounded.

If there are secrets to their past, that will not be revealed in their introduction post, DM me, on either (tumblr or discord) before the challenge begins. I’m good at keeping secrets.

Eliminations will be based on Adrienne’s relationships to the contestants. The sim with the lowest relationship will be eliminated from the competition. In the event of a tie, sentiments will be taken into account as well as various romantic/friendly interactions.

I’m not so lonely after all, I have a few close friends, but I try to not extend my friends circle too much. You know, especially if those friends are vampires with bad intentions. Americans are less likely than before COVID-19 to want to live in cities, more likely to prefer suburbs (Pew Research Center) About one-in-five U.S. adults now say they prefer to live in a city, down from about a quarter in 2018. The share of Americans who prefer the suburbs has increased from 42% to 46%, while preference for rural areas is virtually unchanged. Nearly half of U.S. adults say the pandemic has driven people in their community apart, and relatively few (13%) say it has brought people together.

San Francisco Mayor Declares State of Emergency to Fight City’s ‘Nasty Streets’ (NYT) The mayor of San Francisco on Friday made a sharp break with the liberal conventions that have guided her city for decades, declaring a state of emergency in one of its most crime-infested neighborhoods. Mayor London Breed’s announcement came just days after she emphasized the need for the police to clean up what she has described as “nasty streets.” At a news conference at City Hall, steps away from where drug dealers openly peddle fentanyl and methamphetamines, she said, “We are in a crisis and we need to respond accordingly.” She added, “Too many people are dying in this city, too many people are sprawled on our streets.” The neighborhood, the Tenderloin, has been ground zero for drug dealing, overdose deaths and homelessness for years. The announcement of a state of emergency specifically targeted the drug overdose crisis: More than twice as many people died of drug overdoses in San Francisco last year as died from the coronavirus.

Ex-hostages doing well, have left Haiti, mission agency says (AP) All the former hostages from a U.S.-based missionary group kidnapped in Haiti have been flown out of the country after a two-month ordeal, the leader of their Ohio-based missions organization said Friday. In keeping with Anabaptist teaching, which puts a premium on forgiveness, David Troyer, general director of Christian Aid Ministries, offered conciliatory words to the captors. “A word to the kidnappers: We do not know all of the challenges you face. We do believe that violence and oppression of others can never be justified. You caused our hostages and their families a lot of suffering,” he said. “However, Jesus taught us by word and by his own example that the power of forgiving love is stronger than the hate of violent force. Therefore, we extend forgiveness to you.” Troyer said the hostages had “prayed for their captors and told them about God’s love and their need to repent.” “As they became aware of what was happening at the time of capture, the group began singing the chorus, ‘The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them,’” Troyer said, quoting from the biblical book of Psalms. “This song became a favorite of theirs, and they sang it many times throughout their days of captivity.” The hostages remained together as a group throughout, he said, in prayer, in song and encouraging each other.

Netherlands set to announce ‘strict’ Christmas lockdown (Reuters) The Dutch government is expected to announce on Saturday a “strict” Christmas lockdown that would see everything but essential stores close amid fears over the spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant, Dutch media reported. The government is meeting on Saturday with its health experts who have recommended the closure of all non-essential shops, schools, bars, restaurants and other public venues. On Tuesday, the government ordered that the 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. closure of bars, restaurants and most stores, introduced in late November, would continue until Jan. 14.

Russia sets out tough demands for security pact with NATO (AP) Russia on Friday published draft security demands that NATO deny membership to Ukraine and other former Soviet countries and roll back the alliance’s military deployments in Central and Eastern Europe—bold ultimatums that are almost certain to be rejected by the U.S. and its allies. The proposals, which were submitted to the U.S. and its allies earlier this week, also call for a ban on sending U.S. and Russian warships and aircraft to areas from where they can strike each other’s territory, along with a halt to NATO military drills near Russia. The demand for a written guarantee that Ukraine won’t be offered membership already has been rejected by the West, which said Moscow doesn’t have a say in NATO’s enlargement.

That was before the Japanese government decided to deploy missile launchers near his property on Ishigaki, a small, subtropical island just 200 miles from Taiwan. Over the past year, as China has carried out ever more overt displays of military force around Taiwan, Japan has grown increasingly concerned about the possibility of being drawn into a superpower conflict in its own backyard. The missile installation going up on Ishigaki is intended to protect Japan. But if Beijing were ever to invade Taiwan, the anti-ship and antiaircraft systems could in theory be turned on Chinese military fleets. A governor said her island has been “leveled to the ground.” Typhoon Rai blew away Friday night into the South China Sea after rampaging through southern and central island provinces, where more than 300,000 people in its path were evacuated to safety in advance in a pre-emptive move officials say may have saved a lot of lives. At its strongest, Rai packed sustained winds of 195 kilometers (121 miles) per hour and gusts of up to 270 kph (168 mph), one of the most powerful in recent years to hit the disaster-prone Southeast Asian archipelago, which lies between the Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea.

Once a Symbol of U.S. Strength, an Afghan District Now Faces Dire Times (NYT) Once, Marja was the site of one of the biggest battles of the two-decade war, part of the United States’ counterinsurgency campaign to weaken the Taliban and build up a local government.
