Tumblr media
The vanity is littered with pieces of your life. Work you’ve brought home, tissue discarded after wiping down your dirtied hands, old draft sketches drawn haphazardly and set aside for sentimentality’s sake. Hero merch has been hung around the mirror frame. Small things. Keychains, magnets and bookmarks. A chibi shouto hangs on a ring, fist high and enveloped in ice.
Colour hems your peripheral vision, stems cut from a meadow and displayed in your room. Pink, green, purple and red. Shouto gave you a flower bouquet, roses and carnations and others that you cannot name without a guide; one he loaned expressly to learn the language of flowers for you.
The balmy, summer fragrance lingers, drawing a subconscious grin. You see it in your reflection, and you don’t look away. Not that you were unhappy before—but lately you can’t stop smiling. It is ever present, in your tone, in your disposition, in the pleased glow your coworkers liked to point out. Undeniably, things have been good.
Almost too good.
Dating Shouto changed everything and nothing. It was a uniquely embarrassing experience to reconcile just how obvious you had been throughout the years. You had prepared for wobbling baby steps. However, in many ways, it was as if you’d completely skipped the awkwardness all together, and Shouto became more emboldened than ever.
Exhaling, you push the thought aside. Your reflection relaxes once more as the tension bleeds from your shoulders. You’re all done up; donning your best clothes, an almost unrecognisable version of yourself compared to the oil-stained, work-swept appearance you usually took.
Tonight would be your first official date. Despite having been together for a few weeks now, your misaligned schedules and general lack of free time made it difficult to take that next step. You initially suggested setting up dinner at home. Candlelight and wine. Good food and good company is all you needed. As tempting as it was, Shouto insisted on treating you to somewhere proper—
His own words. ‘Proper’ was not your department. You didn’t know what to expect.
But the memory resurfaces, and at the vision of his soft pout, you ease. Things would be fine regardless of where the night took you.
Echoing through the hallway, Shouto’s bedroom door quietly clicks shut. You watch his silhouette appear beneath the crack of your own. He shifts his weight. The knock you anticipate never comes. Instead your phone lights up where it sits on the end of your bed. You stretch to grab it. The screen unlocks, opening onto your messaging app. Shouto’s name sits unread at the very top.
shouto : just now
Here to pick you up :)
“He’s trying to kill me,” you breathe, biting back an affectionate laugh and smoothing your thumb over the text. Filled with a sudden urgency to see him, you get to your feet. You pat down either side of your hips, ironing out the creases and give a last look to the mirror—pleased, beautiful.
Behind the door, Shouto anxiously waits. Fingers combed through his hair, the bicoloured strands have mixed into one another, brushed over to one side. The light glints. Gold studs sit in either ear, warming his complexion. He’s wearing a light sweater and dark trousers cinched with a belt. The sleeves are rolled midway along his forearm, casting light on a thin gold chain that hangs delicately around his wrist below the watch his older sister bought him for his birthday.
“You look really good,” you murmur, moving into his space. What would make an otherwise clumsy first encounter for any other came naturally to you both. Eyes drag over the length of your body. Shouto licks his lower lip, gaze heavier, and he pulls you in by the hips. A warm musk fills your senses. Pleasant notes of sandalwood and cinnamon. Your hands come to rest on his chest as you kiss his cheek.
“And you look beautiful,” he says. “Are you ready to leave?”
“I’m ready,” you concur, voice steeped in contagious excitement, “we’re going on a date”.
Shouto sways on his feet, your body moving with him, and his fingers dig into your hips as though restraining himself. “We are. Our first date,” stepping away, he gestures for you to take his arm. You coil around his bicep. Quiet, he continues, “I’m sorry it took so long to organise”.
You swat at his shoulder, falling in line with him as you make your way through the apartment. “Your needless apology is not accepted. I’ve told you it’s completely fine”.
Shouto hums a small, gratified sound, and then bends to take his shoes from the rack. You move to do the same. As you straighten he is pulling on a dark brown leather jacket, the collar flicking up when he shucks it around his chest.
A clink echoes out. He hooks his car keys through his forefinger and slowly looks you over without intent. “Bring a coat. The nights have been getting colder,” he tells you. You concede, endeared by his concern.
The car journey is mostly spent in a comfortable silence, feelings of anticipation tainting the air. You don’t ride with Shouto often, usually opting to take the subway, thus reclining into the plush padded leather is still relatively new. Shouto presses a button and a gradual heat gathers beneath your thighs. Your gaze drags to the gear stick, where his fingers are flexing. After some hesitation he shifts gears and rests his hand above your knee.
You stroke his forearm. His thumb moves in idle shapes. The traffic thins out when he takes an unexpected left onto an unassuming street and regretfully releases you. Car parked alongside a few others, strikingly expensive, Shouto cuts the ignition and you step out.
A clandestine entrance comes into view. Through double glass doors awaits a polished, minimalist lobby, leading to a flight of winding stairs. Upon reaching the top you realise the building houses a pair of adjacent restaurants. Traditional and Western, respectively.
Shouto encourages you toward the more traditional archway, and intermittently squeezes your hand. Your palms kiss, his skin a little clammy. The thought of him being nervous charms you. He glances over as you stroke your finger across his knuckles and his temperature seems to cool.
“Welcome”.
You startle. A server had approached at some point during the intimate moment, stoic and lingering; dressed in a pale kimono, not a thread out of place. With your attention she bends into a perfect bow. “It’s a pleasure to have you this evening. Will it be a table for two?”
“There should be a reservation under the name Todoroki,” Shouto replies with silvery cadence. Expression waning in recognition, the server nods.
“Right this way sir”.
You trail through the restaurant. The architecture is luxurious and calming, woodsy tones and warm accents. Thick sticks of bamboo hang over the ceiling, and pale structures formed to resemble cherry blossoms overhang the chef’s bar. Most notable is the fish tank behind it, pulsing gently as the filter whirls.
The server maintains a strict posture as she guides you to your table. Positioned in an intimate corner next to the window wall, overlooking a blushing cityscape, streaks of sunlight threading between buildings.
You take your seat and sink into the curved back. An illuminated centrepiece gently breathes, coming to life and casting a glow across the tablecloth. Cutlery of which you’ve never seen before is set out before you. “I will return to take your order in a moment…” you hear from your left.
Shouto voices his gratitude. His focus turns to you as the server retreats. “Everything okay?” he asks, too perceptive for his own good, somehow managing to make it feel as though he is still holding your hand through all this, even with the distance.
You hum, not trusting yourself to immediately speak. The menu is thick and glossy and heavy in your grasp. “…All good, handsome,” your eyes skim over the eclectic dishes. You squint at the small font, mind unspooling at the assortment of food—most you hardly recognised. “What do you think you’ll order?
With the tilt of his head, Shouto’s focus returns to his menu. While he reads through you wonder if it’s obvious that you’re out of place here. That you came home hours earlier and scraped the grease from your nail beds after tinkering with Ingenium’s suit for most of the afternoon.
“Their signature dish, maybe. I’ve heard the meat is good. They make it with an iron griddle,” Shouto’s thumb plucks restlessly at the corner of the card. Voice pitched lower, he adds, “And it’s the only thing I find appetising on here”.
Your brows raise at his admittance. Partly relieved by the shared uncertainty, though more surprised he felt it at all. “You’ve never been to a place like this?”
Shouto gives a plaintive blink. “No, I have. Years ago when I first debuted my father would drag me to places like this to network,” he says, setting down the menu. Sheepishness colours his features, “But I’ve never been here specifically. Momo recommended it”.
“Momo did?” you echo, subconsciously leaning onto the table. Shouto nods and shifts in his seat. “Cool. Has she ever brought Kyouka here?”
A wayward curl of crimson falls over his forehead as Shouto tilts. He brushes the stray hair back. “No, not that I’m aware. She mentioned that her parents often spent date nights here and they loved it”.
You smile helplessly, restless with the urge to pinch and pull at him. It was obvious that he’d put effort into organising this—maybe a little much. He had overthought things in true Shouto fashion.
“Why do you think that is?” you muse, hoping he’ll see your sincerity and hear you out. “It’s because Kyouka doesn’t like… extravagance. It makes her uncomfortable”.
Shouto considers this. “…Do you want to go somewhere else?”
“That’s not it, baby. I told you I’m happy to go wherever with you,” Shouto’s gaze momentarily drops, the corner of his mouth curling up. “Thank you for bringing me here. It’s just—don’t always feel obligated to go to these lengths. Or spend this much. We can save all the fancy stuff for our anniversaries”.
You sit in a brief, comfortable silence, skin warming at the realisation of what you’ve said and the weight it carried. As he studies you carefully in the low light you hear the far off sound of food popping on the hot stove-top and smell a sweet, buttery aroma.
“I understand,” he exhales, resting his chin in the cup of his hand. A smirk teases his lips. “I guess I’ll need to find some other way to spoil you”.
“Shouto. You do more than enough—”
The server is approaching from the corner of your eye. You lightly kick his leg beneath the table to alert him, and he catches your foot between his ankles. There’s a small notepad and pen in her hand. She gestures to the menu.
“Excuse the interruption. Are you ready to order?”
Shouto recites his choice and you choose the same, trusting his palate. “Could we have a pitcher of water for the table?”
“Of course, sir”.
Your eyes linger on his jawline, the flex of his throat. Shadows dance across his face. The live music flows supple and amorous through the room. You want to lean into it; find yourself in Shouto’s arms and move as the rhythm dictates.
“Did you have a good day at work?”
The normalcy of the question catches you off guard in such a setting, and you blow air into your cheeks, embarrassed to be caught staring. He sits with arms folded atop the table to lean closer, unabashedly staring right back. “Work is work,” you reply, giving the routine answer. “What about you? Anything interesting?”
At that Shouto reaches to rest his hand over yours. Broad palm and paling bruised knuckles. He’s cool to the touch. Your heartbeat picks up as he begins to play with your fingers. “I caught a man trying to flash his genitals at an all girls school,” he says, attention drifting as he recalls what, for him, is a monotonous day. “Stopped a train from derailing—ah. One of the students we saved had an interesting quirk. I thought Izuku was going to ask her for an autograph…”
The evening unfolds. Darkness envelops the city and one by one people switch on their lights. It comes to life. You share laughter. You rub his calf and wisps of steam flutter around him. You talk, settling into a natural conversation, a complimentary rhythm, as you would’ve at home. Your once friendship hung lightly between you, an ephemeral thing, lacking weight or gravity. Any other first date experience paled in comparison; this didn’t feel like a first date at all.
Sitting there, now with an empty plate and your glass half full of liquor, a different spirit seems to sift inside you. Uninhibited contentment. The dressed up, high class onlookers fall away. Shouto looks at you over the lip of his mocktail as if you are the only thing he can see.
“A little weird, isn’t it?”
Shouto raises a brow and hums, “What do you mean?”
“Well, this is the part where people learn about each other,” you say. “We already know almost everything”.
“Not everything,” he stops to think. “Sometimes I swallow my gum instead of taking it out”.
“You—” startled, breathy laughter overshadows your reply. You cover your mouth and shake your head. “That’s gross. You’re ridiculous”.
A dazed smile teases Shouto’s lips, “You wanted to know”. The ice in his glass remains, cradled in his right hand, while condensation gathers around your fingers. “…We knew each other as good friends. That’s different”.
You take a quick sip, “Think so?”
“I know so,” he murmurs, his leg sliding between your own. “Now I get to learn about you all over again, in a new way”.
The thin hair on your arms prickles. Warmth and desire seeps through you, soaked into adipose tissue, tenderising thought and thew. “What a charmer,” you say, voice a little thick, seeing the night with new clarity. “You’re right. We just started a few steps ahead”.
Pleased at that, Shouto’s attention falls to the empty plates. “Should we get dessert?”
You consider the idea. It pulls you away from the moment, and everything sharpens in your periphery. Coalesced voices, the clink of cutlery, dulcet piano notes flowing beneath it all. “Not here,” you decide, an excited grin unfolding. “Let’s go get ice cream”.
Despite your protests Shouto pays the bill. You allow it, begrudgingly, since he had organised the date. In passing you bow your head toward the chef working behind the bar, and he gives an effusive ‘thank you’.
“Thank you very much,” another server calls politely, delicate hand raised to wave from behind his drink tray. “Please come again”.
Already too late into the evening, any ice cream parlour would be closed. Even so you clasp Shouto’s hand, bracing against the warmth, and direct him to a corner store on the far end of the road.
The cashier—reclined in a fold up chair, feet propped on the counter and cigarette in hand—staggers, almost tumbling to the floor as he registers Shouto’s identity. Though few, other customers stop to stare.
That feeling of unease returns once more. Amidst the bliss, and mellow, alcohol induced haze, you had completely forgotten about his status as a public figure and the scrutiny that might befall your new relationship as a result. You’ve been linked to various heroes before for business but never romantically.
Shouto is oblivious to it. Rather, you suppose he is used to the scrutiny. You recoil from their staring, and subsequently from his side, your anxious mind assuming some distance might cause them to think twice. In that instant an arm wraps firm around your lower back. Anchoring your hip, Shouto keeps you tucked against him, searching your face for objection.
You chew the inside of your cheek and relent, because you feel better when you’re close to him. The apprehensive and moderately starstruck atmosphere barely tickles him as he rummages through the large freezer. Ice creams and pops of every shape and colour. With a quiet, pleased sound, he plucks out a packet of bite sized matcha ice cream.
The cashier has steadied his hands by the time you’re ready to pay. Shouto deliberately frowns at the cigarette butts on the counter, discarded in an Endeavor themed ashtray. Not on account of any suspicion or disapproval, just simple pettiness. You know that but the poor young man does not, as he continues to nervously explain that his manager is ‘pretty lax about that kinda thing’.
“That’s nice,” Shouto tells him, passing his phone over the card machine. You press your lips thin to keep from laughing. A ping echoes out and the money goes through. “Thank you. Have a good night”.
Confused, the man gives a tremulous smile and nods, “Thank you for everything you do, Shouto, sir!”
Stepping into the tepid night air brings a wave of relief. Shouto releases your waist to pass you your cold treat. Falling into a lazy pace you start back toward the restaurant.
You’ve chosen an ice cream bar on a stick. Teeth sink into it like warm butter, the first bite melting on your tongue. Shouto is eating his delicately with a small pick and at your satisfied moan, he freezes, the next piece halfway to his open mouth.
“I haven’t had ice cream in forever,” you effused, licking the remnants from the corner of your lips. “Do you like yours?”
“Yes,” he replies, strained. You watch him from the corner of your eye. There’s a blush high on his cheeks. Drifting into the car park, he catches your gaze, slowing beneath a stream of light coming from the street lamp above. Cast in a syrupy, honey toned veil, he holds out the pick to you. “Would you like to try some?”
You smile at this, and then wordlessly part your lips. Shouto visibly swallows as he feeds it to you. Sweet earthy flavours harmonised with a hint of bitterness flood across your palate. Chewing, you hold up your mostly eaten ice cream bar and gesture for him to finish it.
Like you, Shouto opens up in a silent request to be fed. You turn the tacky stick between your fingers so he can get to both sides. “Thank you,” he mumbles, gently brushing his thumb at your mouth to wipe away a smear of cream. “For the ice cream and for tonight”.
“What’re you thanking me for?” you smile, besotted. His arms rise to welcome you into his chest. “You’re the one that did everything”.
Shouto squints in obvious disagreement and dips to give you a kiss. His lips are careful, still sweet with vanilla. You feel the soft tickle of his breath to your cheek, fingers carding through his hair as you breathe each other in.
“Let’s go home,” he murmurs.
Arriving at the apartment together is somewhat odd. The air is charged. Where you’d bid any other date goodbye, Shouto crowds into the genkan behind you and locks the door. You shrug off your coat and the thin hair on your nape tingles as he places hands on your hips, guiding you to the side and slipping past you.
Shouto lingers and you wonder if he’s having the same thoughts. “Are you following me?” you tease lightly, giddy at his presence so close to your heels.
“I’m walking you to your door,” he says.
“What a gentleman,” you laugh under your breath. Turning to lean against the frame, fingers wrap around the handle behind your back. Head cocked, you add, “Gonna come in for coffee, too?”
Hearing the innuendo, his expression settles into fond amusement. He cups your cheek. You lean into the shallow of his palm and draw him closer with your eyes. He inclines his face, nudges his nose against yours, and your mouths come together, already soft and open. You kiss for a while, before his lip curls and you both devolve into quiet laughter.
Breathless when he pulls away, you say, “Goodnight, Shouto. Thank you. I really enjoyed myself”.
“Sleep well,” he returns. “I’ll see you in the morning”.
Upon entering the solace of your bedroom, you’re overcome by an urgent giddiness. The energy has you bouncing on the spot, a squeal building in your chest that you don’t release until your face is buried deep in a pillow.
Sleep finds you in the early hours, creeping in amongst your tumultuous thoughts, mentally listing the options of what to do for the second date.
It’s as though you blink and morning shutters in. You stretch, limbs caught in the covers, and shy away from the light bleeding through your curtains. As senses sharpen and your body wakes, the distant sound of pots and cutlery draws your focus.
Your feet drag on the cool floorboards, dazedly wandering towards the tantalising smell pouring out from the kitchen. Shouto stands at the sink in a wrinkled shirt, the hem falling over his red boxers. There’s a slight bounce to his step as he moves, and his expression visibly brightens as he notices you.
“You’re perky this morning,” you mumble, still one foot in sleep, rubbing at the corner of your eye. “What, did you have a hot date or something?”
Hearing the affection in your voice, Shouto flashes a small grin. He slumps against the counter, leaning to check on the rice cooker. Steam curls up into the air. “A really hot date,” he affirms. A smile pulls at your lips.
You notice the two bowls already set out and turn to the coffee machine to pull out a second mug. “Sure there’s enough water in that?”
“Yes,” his puffy eyes narrowed. “I remembered this time”.
You hum, satisfied. Shouto drapes himself around your shoulders and you turn to press a soft kiss to his bare collar, exposed by the loose material of his sleep shirt. The roommate act falls away. “When do you need to leave?”
A warm breath brushes your temple as he sighs, “About twenty minutes”.
“You should go ahead and get ready, then. I’ll plate this up”.
Shouto nods with some reluctance. While he’s gone you fill his bowl and break an egg into it. Adding a little soy sauce and a dash of salt, you whip the rice with a pair of chopsticks until the egg is golden, turning foamy and giving the rice a tender texture. After repeating the steps you sprinkle mixed seasoning over both meals.
You set his coffee down on a coaster as he jogs out into the living room, hair lazily styled and his hero suit zipped to his midsection. “Thank you for the meal,” he says, slightly faster than usual, before proceeding to shovel the rice into his mouth.
“Don’t choke,” you pluck a sticky grain of rice from Shouto’s cheek and eat it. He blinks at you as he chews. “At least give me a few years first”.
The crinkles by his eyes deepen, scar tissue pulling taut. You swallow a hot mouthful of coffee to distract yourself from the way he visibly brightens. “I can give you more than a few,” he replies.
Heat prickles beneath your skin, “No romancing me at breakfast”.
Shouto laughs warmly. And with that you finish your meal together. He departs for work in a hurry, kissing the top of your head and calling out as he goes,
“Have a good day, love. I’ll see you at home”.

Comfort Within Rain
Tumblr media
Dancing in the rain is fine, but when your favourite mafioso offers to dance with you, who are you to say no?
In love with the chibi mafioso so, here's some Chuuya fluff. He likes wine and music, so he's probs good at dancing right? We stan soft Chuuya :)
Cool droplets pittered down on your skin, glittering slightly as the city lights bounced off the droplets. The sweet thick aerosol scent released by the rocks and dirt spins throughout. The perfume attached to you; brings a familiar comfort and a flood of memories. A fond smile creeps against your face as the warm spring breeze wraps around you, tickling you, evoking emotions words can't quite pinpoint. Peeling off your socks and shoes, you leave them by the stairwell, away from the rain. You hum, swaying gently to the rhythmic pattern of the drops pittering against the ground. Days like this were your favourite, where nature swallowed you up, without a care, simply existing.
Lost in your trace as the natural symphony lulled, you gently glide along to your heart's content. Your hair begins to plaster your face, the refreshing taste of rain seeping into your bones, causing you to submit, letting the tender, watery whispers guide you. You feel a hand slip into yours as you glide along the rooftop in a trance; you blink and spin around. A small smile etched its way upon you as you came face to face with his sapphire eyes; the rain framed his face bringing out his sharp features.
"Sorry darling, but you look like an angel like that. Might I interrupt you and have this dance?" Chuuya murmurs, brushing some hair out of your face with a gentle caress.
You felt your face heat up at the thought that he's been watching you for some time. He stares at you intently while holding you gently like a flower. The urge to submit to the rain and dance with him overpowering you, causing you to nod. His eyes lightened up, giving you that rare genuine smile he reserves for moments like these. Your heart fluttered as his sleek gloved fingers caressed your cheek gently before finding their way to your hips, pulling you closer as the other hand remained in your hand. Chuuya hums as he guides you along the rooftop, his gaze never leaving your face. His usually fiery hair: now darker from the rain, framed his face. Only then do you notice his hat wasn't there, not that you minded, as it allowed you to gain a better view of his features. Your eyes trained upon his endless blues as he guided you along, gently spinning you around. The earthy songs and your intimate heartbeats set the perfect rhythm for the two of you to twirl around in. He pulls you in, warmth radiating upon you. Every so often, you'd take the lead, guiding him into a puddle to relish the sensation of the puddles and the way the water danced along with you in unison. He dipped you down gently and pulled you along as the symphony continued. The harmonic sways and glides of your feet never faltered as you relished in each other's company.
After minutes of the blissful dance, he stops and pulls you into his arms. "You're gonna catch a cold if we stay out for too long," he murmurs.
"Thank you for the dance," you breathe as you nestled into his embrace. Wanting to convey so much: things words could never suffice. But, somehow, you know the message is conveyed in the harmonic moment you shared. Similar to how you felt all the raw emotions he poured into your dance.
"Of course, love," he hums.
"Hold still," He blurts. You arch a brow at the sudden comment and loudness of his voice. "Close your eyes." He pleads softly.
You comply; he had a way of making you feel at ease and at home. So you comply. Feeling his slender fingers brush against your forehead, your eyes snap open. The raindrops floated off your body, glittering ethereally in the night, the city's lights refracting off the raindrops. You let out a wondrous laugh as he brings you in for a dip before he twirls you around. Just as swiftly, he pulls you close to his chest.
"'S beautiful," you gasped in awe. "Thank you…for everything."
"Mm, you are, aren't you? And anything for you, love." he purrs, staring directly into your orbs.
You stared at him, flushing from his words. His familiar smirk threatens to surface as he grins at you, sapphire orbs glittering in the evening rain. You stare intently at each other, afraid to shatter the silence. Chuuya hums softly, bringing his hands to your cheek. You shudder at the feeling of his rain-coated leather gloves. Leaning forwards, he tugs you forward, planting a chaste kiss against your forehead before pressing his nose against yours. You rise to your toes, pressing a kiss against his cheek. Sighing contentedly, you hold each other, gazing over the city and the floating, shimmering raindrops.
"Let's go home, darling," he breathes. "Don't want you getting sick now, do we?"
You sigh wistfully at having to end this so soon. Sensing your slight sorrow, he ruffles your hair and smiles gently.
"Let's do this again sometime." He holds his hand out, a promise as gentle as the breeze, promising something elegantly gratifying.
"Kay," you nod, smiling at the thought and slip your hands into his, ready to return to his embrace in the comforts of your home. Picking you up, he carries you down from the roof, ensuring to pick up your shoes and his hat from their spot. He plops his hat on your head, continuing his way down the stairs with you in his arms. No words were exchanged as you made your way down from the roof. Still, the soft glow of your souls warmed each other and exchanged unspoken emotions on this rainy night in Yokohama, a promise of companionship and something more blooming between you.

Venezuela traditional clothes!!
(read below for extra information)
Here's a small simplified guide to Venezuelan traditional clothing
1- Region de los llanos: the first set of clothes (left to right) are known as the face of Venezuela but technically they originate from the "Region de los llanos".
The first 2 outfits are called liqui liqui, they're the national outfit of Venezuela and can be worn both by men and women.
Tumblr media
traditionally they're very simple and light colored but nowadays they come in many different forms. The other 2 dresses have no name but are known as "falda llanera" or "traje típico de joropo" and are used to dance!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They can be any color and often have flower patterns on them.
2- Region capital: this is the region were the capital is situated. The men here wear liqui liquis or simple outfits (like the one I drew).
The women's clothing is named "Dama antoñona", there's different versions of this costume but they're all rather European looking
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Historically they used to be worn by high ranking rich women but nowadays they're more of a carnival thing
Region Zuliana: once again, the men wear rather simple looking clothes or a version of the liqui liqui. The women wear "mantas guajiras"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Originally the manta guajira was only the Wayuu peoples's traditional wear, a native American group found in the guajira (land shared between Colombia and Venezuela), but with time the clothing started being worn by the zulians as well.
4- Region andina: this region is the coldest in Venezuela. Men wear a sort of poncho called "Ruana" the women's clothes have no name.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The dress that I drew in the middle is sometimes used to dance, here's an example
youtube
I've mainly seen it worn by kids tho xd
A few extra things:
-There's more regions but this 4 are the most important ones/the ones that inspired the rest. The Last 2 clothes are an example
-although I gave all the Chibis cowboy hats, we have multiple different types. Those are the most popular ones but if you need a reference for hats feel free to ask lol
-i didn't draw shoes. We do have traditional shoes but I was too tired to draw them. Once again if anyone needs a reference for them ask
-this one is kinda of a no duh, but majority of this clothes aren't worn every day and are only used for patriotism, dances or festivals.

This stayed in the drafts for too long (if you see any typos or grammatical errors no you don't)
It starts as a way to annoy each other.
A few weeks after Chuuya joined the port mafia, Dazai eavesdropped Chuuya talking about how much he hated receiving gifts or surprises in general. That's why on the day of his birthday, the ginger finds an ugly dog collar as a birthday present from the brunet on his desk. Not to be outdone, Chuuya returns the favour by giving Dazai a rope to hang himself with on his birthday –he actually throws it at his face–.
From there onwards every gift becomes even more absurd then the previous one, as if it's a challenge to see whoever can embarrasses the other more, forgetting that they're two big shots of the Port Mafia.
Every birthday becomes metaphorically and sometimes physically a battlefield.
One time is a carton of milk for Chuuya's given by Dazai –"I thought chibi may need help with growing since he's still so short!"– and the complete guide to suicide for Dazai by Chuuya –"Oi shitty Dazai, it's time to fucking die"–.
The peak of that weird challenge is reached a year before Dazai's betrayal, when Chuuya gets home only to find countless snails happily eating...weirdly specific food? and whatever snails do on the floor of his living room. Chuuya doesn't even question how Dazai managed to breaks into his apartment, he's already thinking about giving the bastard a taste of his own medicine.
On his eighteenth birthday, Dazai wakes up with a nauseous smell filling the container where he still stubbornly lives. Well, he lives literally into the port, of course he doesn't expect to smell flowers and candies, but the smell of rotten fish is way too stronger than the other days. The reason: dozens of dead mackerels laying on the ground of the container and a "happy fucking birthday bastard" shouted out from the outside.
Two weeks after the dead-mackerels-gift incident Dazai leaves the Port Mafia and Chuuya knows that the little weird tradition they created is now over. He doesn't know how to feel about it but at least he doesn't have to get rid of hundreds of snails ever again.
A year passes and it's already Chuuya's birthday. Time flies when you're having fun, right? If you consider funny working late again because of the paperwork.
At least there's a bottle of wine to keep him company on his desk. A too familiar bottle of '89 Petrus that Chuuya was sure he drank the night when Dazai left. How is it possible?
What makes him even more suspicious are the words written on the birthday card next to the bottle.
"I guess the milk didn't work, try with wine this year but don't party too hard slug".

I finally finished putting patches on my pencil case/art bag! Some I made myself, some I purchased, and some had been sitting in my mom's sewing kit for 20+ years so I just took them. 😂
Tumblr media
[ID: A brown canvas purse with embroidered patches all over it. Individual patch descriptions in the next image. End ID.]
The front. I have a lot of Critical Role stuff on this bag, as it's my current hyperfixation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: Top - The top flap of the front pocket. Has a blue embroidered patch of the Bell's Hells logo from Critical Role on the left, and enamel chibi pins of two of the Bell's Hells characters, Ashton and Orym, on the right.
Bottom - The bottom flap of the front pocket. There is a triangular, blue and white Girl Guides patch; a round, green patch with a person considering 3 roads before them; a homemade patch of a blue, cartoon dragon head: a honeybee patch; a red and black patch that says "Just Don’t"; a rectangular, black patch with a yellow border and a blue violin; and a black and white patch of the Critical Role logo. End ID. ]
Close-ups of the front patches and pins. I'm pretty sure the green one and the violin patch are badges from my Girl Guide days. The triangle patch is from the Guiding troop I was in in my hometown, but I've blanked out the town name for privacy reasons. The dragon patch I made myself.
Tumblr media
[ID: The back of the purse, featuring more embroidered patches. There is a rectangular Asexual Pride flag patch; a watermelon slice patch; a black and white, oval-shaped patch from the TV show Supernatural that says "Protected by Castiel"; a rainbow with clouds patch; and a black and red patch that features the Anarchy symbol of an A inside a circle. End ID.]
The Ace Pride patch and the Anarchy patch are handmade. I've had the Castiel patch sitting around for a while, and just had to figure out what to put it on.
Tumblr media
[ID: A side panel of the purse. On top there is a patch shaped like a mushroom that has a red cap and white spots. On the bottom is a colourful Ashari symbol from Critical Role that resembles 2 stacked hourglasses with a diamond in the center. End ID.]
These two are both handmade. The mushroom was the first patch I ever made myself. The second is the symbol of the Ashari, a druidic culture from the world of Exandria in Critical Role.
Tumblr media
[ID: the other side panel of the purse. On top is a rectangular patch featuring a white Trillium flower and "Ontario" printed in yellow letters. Underneath is a round patch with the Antifascism symbol of a black flag and a red flag waving together on a white background. End ID.]
The top one is a patch I found in my mom's sewing kit. I decided to use it because I'm from Ontario, and the trillium (the provincial flower) is pretty. The other one is an Antifa patch that I made myself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: Photos of each side of the purse's shoulder strap. A series of colourful pin-back buttons runs the length of each side. End ID.]
I also have a bunch of buttons pinned to the strap. Most of them are fandom buttons for Pokémon, Doctor Who, Supernatural, and Undertale. Some have funny sayings printed on them. A couple are for different causes, like environmental protection, and free university education.
I'm pretty pleased with how it came out! There's a little bit of space under the front flap that I could potentially put a couple more patches or pins on, but I'm happy to take a break from this one for now. It was actually pretty challenging to get them all sewn on. 😅

The Art of Asset Reduction: VNConf 2024 Write-Up
youtube
This is a write-up for my Visual;Conference 2024 talk on asset reduction: presentation of scenes with reduced art labor.
I will discuss how to reduce production requirements via various methods of asset presentation and staging, walking you through case studies of existing visual novels. This talk will guide you to answer the question: How do I fulfill my project scope without asset bloat?
This is an art talk that assumes you have already scoped down your story and have created a list of scenes that you need. This is not a talk about scoping down your game's story.
You have scenes you need to make. How are you going to make them (and with style)?
Abstraction
Cut-ins
Reduce
Reuse
-
I. Abstraction
I start off with abstraction as a reminder that visual novels are a combination of visual and novel (amongst other aspects)
Abstraction
Abstraction is a strong tool for bringing focus to the writing, highlighting ambiguity and setting the mood with colors.
Examples I mentioned in my talk include:
Black screen
Solid colored screen
Sky BG
Of Components
The mood-setting power of abstraction also extends to scenes with characters, especially CGs.
As again, abstraction draws focus to what you choose to emphasize: the characters.
Tumblr media
(FLOWERS -Le volume sur ete-)
They are gay. Thank you for coming to my VNConf talk.
-
You can similarly abstract characters.
Tumblr media
(Lachesis or Atropos)
Consider representing irrelevant characters (e.g., NPCs) as silhouettes. The reader can fill in the details within the shapes themselves.
Silhouettes are especially great for crowd scenes where you want to draw focus to the main characters.
This will be a recurring theme:
What do you really need to draw?
-
II. Cut-ins
One common not-quite full screen piece of art you'll see in many visual novels is the cut-in.
The cut-in typically consists of the:
Item/focus
Frame
And is often for topics such as objects or small animals, which may exist in the scene but may not be within the same frame of reference as the background and sprites.
The separate framing informs the players that the item is "separately framed."
Tumblr media
(Who is the Red Queen?)
For example, this small bird is not huge and would not be the size of a character's head even had a sprite been on screen.
The Foreground-Backdrop Heuristic
Cut-ins make strong use of what I refer to as the "foreground-backdrop heuristic."
Tumblr media
(Shikkoku no Sharnoth)
A general backdrop informs the reader of a broad location or scene (especially if characters are present). Then a more specific foreground (the cut-in) informs the reader of the specifics.
As the foreground cut-in is in a different frame, the pairing of the two helps create a mental model of the space in the reader's mind.
Cut-ins can be used for:
Backgrounds (mix and match foregrounds with a backdrop)
Reduced CGs
Presenting existing assets in a different frame of reference
CG variants
Try tackling your visual presentation in a layered, comic book-esque fashion with cut-ins!
Just be careful about clutter.
Whether you want to go for the layered cut-in style, the 3d stage cinematic style, or a combination of the two, make sure you have a vision before you jump in.
SD CGs
I had to make an obligatory mention of SD "super deformed" CGs in this talk, so here it is in the write up as well.
Tumblr media
(Grisaia: Phantom Trigger Vol. 1)
SD, chibi. However you call these, they're great for playful scenes that might require more art than your classic sprite-background combination.
What SD CGs do best is that they:
Fulfill the role of a CG
Are easier to draw than fully rendered non-chibi art
Can be distributed to different artists to reduce artist workloads due to style difference
Just keep in mind that a simplified CG is still a CG and thus may lack reusability.
Consider what scenes really need a CG.
-
III. Reduce
Now, consider asking yourself: "Does what a player does not see need to exist?" (mostly applicable for games with opaque UI)
Yet, what you need to draw is what you need to draw. How can you reduce the work in what you need to draw?
One option is:
Palette Limitation
You've heard of gray scale games, but don't forget about other ways of limiting your palette to reduce workload.
Dramatic, mood setting color power
Less rendering work
Tumblr media
(Sona-Nyl of the Violet Shadows)
A similar idea can be applied to NPCs for a more detailed take on silhouettes.
-
IV. Reuse
Lastly, please remember to be economical and reuse assets as necessary. One of the great joys of cut-in BGs, for example, is reusability.
I had to give an obligatory mention to CG variants in my talk, such as:
Tumblr media
(Fatal Twelve)
However, overall, you never know when you'll want to use various components of your art elsewhere such as intermixing CG and sprite art.
Please keep your working layers if possible.
Other reuse examples:
UI (especially in episodic games)
Gameplay (e.g., Kogado's rhythm game)
Consider asking your programmer to work on a framework to reuse, reducing repeated code work.
-
Conclusions
All in all, you can make your game.
And it doesn't need to be hellish on your budget or timeline.
If you take anything away from this talk, let it be to:
Prioritize reusable assets
Maintain aesthetic; avoid clutter
Display important scenes
Do not scope up; aim for a set goal
A scene can be presented in many stylish ways, some of which will suit your workflow better than others.
So, go on. Make your game!

Random-Mailbox's Favorite Sailor Moon Fics - Week 42 - Birthdays
Tumblr media
It is Usagi / Chibi-Usa Birthday Week (on June 30th), so it seemed like a good time to do stories on this topic. Although after I finished looking through it, majority are for Mamoru’s birthday BUT it seemed fitting to include them as well.  Keep in mind that a lot of Usagi birthday fics are also tied to the birth of Chibi-Usa, which would be it’s own post down the road.
Also, don't forget to check out the prompts for @usamamoweek2023!
As always, my apologies in advance for spoiling some of these for you (Fic Titles are linked to either FFN or AO3 entries).
Happy Birthday Mamoru! - @areptiledysfunction1107
While away at Harvard, Mamoru keeps waiting for a call that does not seem to be coming from Usagi on his birthday. His first one in a couple of years that he hasn't been either brainwashed or dead for. But maybe, just maybe she has a surprise for him.
Trouble Trying to Sleep - @sailormoonrewrite
In a post Galaxia world, Usagi is having trouble falling asleep - made that much worse by the fact that it is night before her birthday.
"Girl's" Night In - @uglygreenjacket
To do something extra special for Usagi’s birthday, Mamoru (with some help and guidance from the girls), plans a surprise slumber party for her at his place. Doing all the traditional “girly” things you would expect, much to her delight.
a space in the clouds - @idesofnovember
Written for Mamoru’s 40th birthday, this slice of life fic is based in an alternate timeline where Crystal Tokyo did not come to pass. We get a glimpse of what future would look like and how grateful he is for it.
A Week with Mamoru Chiba: Chapter 6: Birthday - @she-dreams-in-pink
In this pre-relationship fic, Mamoru is dreading his birthday that no one should know is even that day. Except Usagi decided that she would do something to change that.
Tokens of Affection: Chapter 9: 1st U_M anniversary: Celebration - Lina_Natsudori (Jennifer Ellison)
A short ficlet about Mamoru appreciating everything his life has become with Usagi and the girls around him
---
That's it for June! Yes, we have made through another month and FOURTY-TWO weeks of posts (cue jokes about Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy).

Just a little heads up, there’s gonna be spoilers from beta for the upcoming season :)
Ngl it’s been a long time since I’ve had fun in events but days of rainbow 2023 is awesome, love the new area but the tree which used to house the winged light in the eight player puzzle is gone :’)
It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything here (lazy and life got busy :( ) but this was so wholesome and unexpected I had to post them before they collect dust in my photo album and before I forget what happened lol
Long story short, someone helped me with the spirits when I was just chilling in the new season area and dipped before I could say thanks or befriend them _(:_」∠)_
Anyways, here we go
Tumblr media
But first GLASSES
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And PURPLE FLOWER FIELDS!!! I cannot describe how much I love them and the weather changes pretty often too, not sure if it’s intentional tho
Oh and these pictures were taken with a camera offered by the season guide too, really cool 👁️
You could take videos with them too!
Anyway I was casually filming this when a chibi and a sky kid approached me with their candle
We hung out a bit and they were using the new emotes (the new yoga emote) which I haven’t gotten to exploring yet. They realised it, and they started guiding me to them 🥺
Tumblr media
And I absolutely lost it when I first saw the sky kid with daydream forester hair doing that emote right next to me in this cutscene [see this video]
Tumblr media
Daydream forester hair left after I burnt this spirit but just look at them in this cutscene!
Tumblr media
There’s one more spirit on a snowy mountain which can be seen in this video of my sky kid sliding down the mountain in the middle of the cutscene lol
I’m not very active in beta so I don’t have a lot of wing flaps and had to stop when we were heading to the snowy mountains lmao, but they slowed down for me and replenished my energy
The chibi then guided me to the last spirit [see this video] and used confetti and cheer emotes before waving goodbye and dipped before I could say thanks or befriend them 😭
8 June 2023
EDIT:
I was trying to link the videos in this post but tumblr wouldn’t let me so I made them private cause there isn’t any context to them yet (they’re all in this post after all) and went to bed cause it’s like 1AM and I have an exam the next day
Today I tried to link the videos to this post again and I see notes on my videos
How are y’all so quick it was only up for like half an hour

[PART 7] References in We Are Bulletproof : the Eternal MV

Hobi cried during his speech in the same BTS Live Trilogy Episode III: The Wings Tour Final concert. Again, I recommend you watch the whole concert including Hoseok and everyone else’s speeches.
But the Hoseok Chibi is also holding what looks like a MAMA trophy, and Hoseok also cried during his acceptance speech for ‘Artist of the Year’ in MAMA 2018 (+subbed ver). I think this is what the MV is referring to instead.

First of all - the chibis are now Boy With Luv MV chibis!
I became an Army in 2019, and as far as I’m concerned it was a kind of beautiful, peaceful year where many of their key achievements had already been achieved the year before (the release of IDOL and their overall Love Yourself message with all of the affiliated UNICEF programs and speeches and such had been released) and COVID-19 hadn’t come in to destroy the peace yet. This doesn’t mean that 2019 was a year without trials and pain, but even just looking at Boy With Luv itself demonstrates the general happiness that this era embodied.
I’ve included Stay Gold MV here because it seems to be the best match for the set itself. While Stay Gold was released after We Are Bulletproof : the Eternal MV, the announcement for Stay Gold was well before We Are Bulletproof : the Eternal MV dropped, and it’s not a stretch to think that they might have referenced it anyway.
Alternatively, if the Stay Gold MV set isn’t a good enough match for you, the set can be interpreted as simply ‘Now we’re walking on the flower road’, which, as we said, is the goal that the purple lights were originally supposed to bring them to.
And with that, we’re done!
*I apologise for talking more than I promised to whew
*Did my best to include links where I could. Basically everything mentioned can be found in sub, at some official source somewhere. There are also other links sources that are unofficial. I’ve included all the official links that I could find as well as translation links. If any of my links don’t work or if you’re looking for a source that I didn’t link, feel free to message me and I’ll send you the links I have.
*As I said that the beginning, this is not an official guide. If you disagree with me on anything, I am not anymore correct or wrong than you are.
Thank you everyone for reading this far. I’ve always looked around for a list on exactly this for myself and could never find it, so that’s why I wrote this. I hope this list was useful for you or otherwise fun to read.
Purple you, Armys. Purple you BTS 💜
Sincerely,
PhoenixGlacier

Koulakani
(Kani is also an acceptable nickname if she likes you well enough, but I don't recommend it on a first meeting.)
She/her! But they/them is also accepted, because grammar. Just please don't ever call her a boy. She LIKES boys! There's nothing WRONG with boys! But she is NOT one. She is her own self, and she would not change that.
Enjoys sunshine and waterfalls and flying and mantas and jellyfish! The Sanctuary Islands are very fun for her. But sometimes outdoor places are too bright and too crowded. She does not always like people. Don't misunderstand, she loves her friends more than anything, but also likes to be alone. Socializing is hard.
If she's not practicing her skating in the Village of Dreams, she's probably hanging out in another seasonal location or vibing in the Vault of Knowledge. Since she's based so heavily on me, it's only fair that she hangs out in the most "library" sort of place she can. Being ADHD, autistic, and asthmatic, I very rarely played outside, and most other kids thought I was weird anyway. Prefers the company of Cosmo, a small ghost manta, to the company of most Skykids.
Has an older brother that she admires and thinks of fondly, despite not spending time with him very often. His name is Inexil, and he knows very much about the Golden Wasteland, which is lucky for Koulakani. It's her least favorite realm. She also views @always-anxious-skychild 's OC, Horizon, as an older brother, since they both spend more time in the Vault.
@burgerkingussy 's admin is my sister IRL and therefore her Skykid, Kusi, is also Kani's sister.
Has the Modest Dancer mask, default voice, Polite Scholar stance, Scolding Student's hair, the pink flower crown, Light Whisperer's cape, Flight Guide's pants, and her favorite prop is the Days of Summer Lights lantern, because she can use it to find her way and to help others, too.
I am OFFICIALLY about 2 feet and nine inches. Which makes me ever so slightly taller than a chibi. She forgot to tell you that bit.

Here’s my skid and skadult (?) oc’s for Sky: Children of the Light, Rose and Chibi (or Fleur if it’s comfortable). I'll be drawing them a lot over the next month or so, and might write some more about their journey. Feel free to keep an eye out for these two in game, as I quite literally play as them, and don't be a stranger, as I accept all candle lighting offerings =w= For the sake of trying not to crowd the tags, I've typed out what the boxes say and the dialog, as well as some more details and a bit of lore on these two, under the read more. :3c Please feel free to read it! Do note that I have incorporated me and my spouse's headcanons into this, so if something seems weird its most likely because of that, sorry in advance!
Rose’s box in the top right reads:
Rose
She/They
Quirky Moth Mom
Adult ((Main Oc)) *yes, I know that technically skids don't age, but I am an adult and I'd like my main Oc to reflect that. Also she's more of a sona than an Oc, but it's whatevs
Shorter than average
Bonded to Voiden (Spouse Oc))
Loves: Flowers, Jellyfish, Ice Skating, and stars
Dislikes: Crabs, and paper boats *that crowd high traffic places, such as the return portal at Home
Chibi’s box in the lower left reads:
Chibi (or Fleur)
She/Her
Sleepy “Flight battery pack”
Baby ((Side Oc))
Perma-Chibified
Rose & Voiden’s child
Loves: Clouds, her Bunny head-prop, and sleeping
Dislikes: Krill, and walking
The dialogue bubbles are Rose, in pink, saying, "What do you mean you 'dropped' the Moth in Eden?!", with the response in blue being Voiden saying, "It was an accident, for the most part..."
Moving on! This is the part where headcanons show up, so please excuse the weirdness.
Rose was born after Eden fell, though her parents are unknown. The only clue she received was her cherished fox pendant and a unknown glyph scribbled on the back of her childhood clothes. She lived by herself as an orphan in the daylight prairie until she could withstand the wild winds of the rest of the world. She was alone in her travels for a long time, and managed to pass through Eden by herself due to pure luck and a strong sense of curiosity. Since then, she's made it a point to always help new skids with gaining their wings and helps to settle them into the world of Sky. When not enjoying a candle run or completing daily goals, she spends her time in Daylight Prairie helping with the multiple puzzles there and also takes frequent trips to Eden to help guide skyfolk through the treacherous land.
She is an adult, but due to malnutrition and some weird magics, she's ridiculously short, and her friends make fun of her for it. One day she might get her hands on a height spell...one day!
At some point in her journey she met her current gaggle of family which consists of a tall skadult named Voiden who she met in the Hidden Forest after he was blown into there by the newest wind paths, and her dear friend Z, who was lobbed into the Vaults faster than "Oh Krill!" could be beeped in the same winds. Shortly after meeting, Voiden and her began their courtship, due to a strong mutual interest and trust in each other. They sealed their bond by running through Eden together, sharing their last lights to keep each other safe until the very end of the run.
Fleur (Chibi) is roughly the age of a human toddler if a human toddler was in Sky. The winds blew her off of her mother and carried her to the Isle of Dawn, where she wandered alone until Rose found and adopted her. Rarely will one be found without the other now, as Chibi adores Rose and vice versa. Only Voiden gets to carry her around when Rose needs her wings and hands free, though Z tries his hardest to be her favored uncle-figure, even by giving her her nickname of Chibi. She's a shy child, hiding on her parents shoulders when around newcomers, and will rarely call out due to this.
(It gets a lil sad here, just a heads up!)
Due to an tragic accident where Rose and her were hit by a particularly active krill and multiple crabs in the Golden Wasteland, Chibi spends most of her family's daily trips asleep on her mother's back. Rose tries her hardest to avoid running the wastelands due to this accident, and when it is mentioned she feels horrible for not saving Chibi in time to avoid the damage she suffered. Maybe one day she'll be healed enough to stay awake, but for now she dozes peacefully even through the worst gusts of wind.
(ok, sadness over!)
So that's it, for now, on these two's lore =w=
