Klin Zha
Original Release: 1989
Developer: John M. Ford, Len Loyd
Publisher: Self Published
Original Platform: Board Games
A Klingon chess-like game that was described in the Star Trek book The Final Reflection by John M. Ford (who helped develop the three Star Trek III Solitaire Games) and then developed into a full game by fans.
There are pieces with different movement rules, the most important of which is the “Goal”. This can’t move on its own, but can be moved by other pieces. The object of the game is to kill your opponent’s goal or to block them from being able to move. Each player sets up their pieces on one segment of the triangular board, with the third being empty space that can be moved into.
The game encourages to play like a Klingon, flaunting your goal for honour and glory. There’s nothing but shame if you play like a P’takh and hide your goal behind the blockade’s shields.

"Evolution described in promoting fairy chess pieces": My take on the "Pokémon evolutions vs. Digimon evolutions" meme.
If this wasn't so incredibly high-context, it'd be a meme.

Raven Chess
Raven Chess
Raven Chess is like regular chess, with two additional “Raven” pieces.
There is one White Raven and one Black Raven.
The Ravens begin the game on special spaces outside the board. These are known as the White Nest and the Black Nest respectively, and can only be accessed by Ravens.
A player may use their turn to move the Raven of their color to any empty space.
Ravens cannot capture any piece.
Ravens can be captured by non-Raven pieces according to the usual rules.
The primary purpose of Ravens is to get in the way.
Raven Chess - Gray Raven Variant
Like Raven Chess, but add a Gray Raven. The Gray Raven begins the game in the Gray Nest and can be controlled by either player.
When one player moves the Gray Raven from one space to another, the other player may not immediately reverse the move. (They may, however, move the Gray Raven to a third space.)
Raven Chess - Limited Variant
Like Raven Chess, except that a Raven may only move to either (a) an empty space on the same rank or file as a friendly pawn, or (b) its own nest.
Due to the way pawns are placed, at the beginning of the game a Raven may move to any empty space. But as the game continues and pawns move or are captured, the available spaces for Ravens become more limited.
If playing with a Gray Raven, the Gray Raven counts all pawns as “friendly” for this purpose.

sorry, where is the promotion zone supposed to be ?
IME promotion zone on nonstandard chess boards is usually at the end of the pawn's current file; so a40–d40 for white, m7–p7 for black. "promotion after 7 moves" is also an option but would here make for a fairly different and probably also more boring game

"Oooh Among Us is cringe Among Us is cringe" Awww is somebody letting the jokes fundamental lightheartedness and simplicity get in the way of the experience of playing Among Us (extremely fun and extremely nerve wracking if you let yourself properly get into it)

i feel like there should be more usapyon variants he kinda gets the short end of the stick compared to jibanyan n komasan. i mean it doesn't really make sense for there to be variants of him unlike with jibanyan and komasan where there being multiple nekomata and komainu obviously makes sense but still-

btw i’m always a big supporter of uptight, lame love interests…. i mean, i could joke abt it, but it’s honestly much rarer to read a book where the male love interest isn’t dark-haired bad boy no.58389, and it’s a relief when i don’t have to be subjected to that.

nDimensional Time Travel Chess is now live on itch.io!
Yes you heard me right! I have officially released an early development build on the platform itch.io! There are definitely some issues, but the game is functional and is a blast if you like chess and completely breaking your brain! And don’t worry, the time travel part is optional.
I stayed up until 4 in the morning last night playing what is likely the first game of properly 5D Chess! We ended up stopping about halfway through, and decided we need a save system! That’s not quite here, but it is planned very, very soon!
Come check it out here: https://blake447.itch.io/ndimensional-time-travel-chess
And make sure to join the discord linked on the page to follow updates, talk about new board ideas, and find others insane enough to want to try this! Don’t worry, we don’t understand it either! (And yes, I will be making some smaller future boards, don’t worry they aren’t all going to be so terrible!)

The Viper has a mirror called a Sea Snake. If we make corresponding mirror images of the two promotion options the Viper has, then we get something like this.
Now imagine that instead of a D—e Viper, we have a D—e Sea Snake, with the competition variant being called the DCB (Dynamic Competition Bastion?) and inspiring D—y to make a character called "Quickmeal".

Playing Gothic Chess (Also Known As Trice's Chess)
Gothic chess (an invention of Ed Trice’s) is played like regular chess, except there are two new pieces, and a wider board to accomodate them. In the image shown above, the piece between the king and queen is called the chancellor, and can move like a rook or a knight. The piece between the king and the king’s bishop is called the archbishop, and it can move like a knight or a bishop. The only…
