Alright guys Ace Attorney Characters and who they’d main in Smash Ultimate.
Phoenix: Sonic. MAYBE Mr. Game & Watch if he’s feeling silly. He gets people sooo angry when he plays Mr. Game & Watch.
Miles: …S….S-Sephiroth.
Larry: Girl Wii-Fit Trainer (Ya’ll know why)
Mia: She’s a Samus girly all the way. Or Piranha Plant sometimes if she’s feeling it (Because of Charley).
Maya: Kirby. Duh, both gluttonous powerhouses.
Pearl: Isabelle. No question. (Sometimes Villager).
Franziska: Shiek, obviously.
Klavier: He would sooo main King Dedede. Him and that smug penguin are made for each other. Both kings. (But he also chooses Daisy and Zelda sometimes cause he’s a princess too) (FEEL LIKE A FEM QUEEN).
Apollo: Fox, don’t even ask why I don’t know. He’s just such a nerdy little guy that of course he would main Fox.
Trucy: Banjo & Kazooie. Kinda like a Trucy and Mr. Hat duo. Sometimes Duck Hunt.
Kristoph: Princess Peach.
Gumshoe: Little Mac holy shit.
Lang: WOLF.
Kay: Joker. You’d think it’d be Falco but nah. Joker.
Simon: Snake. Oh for sure.
Sebastian: He’s a Megaman type of guy. Sometimes Lucas or Ness.
Dahlia: Jigglypuff. Oh, oh she gets people angry.
Iris: She sooo mains Rosalina.
Ray: My boy rotates between Sora, Steve and Incinaroar. Don’t ask why he just does. He’s silly like that.
Godot: Meta Knight (Because they’re both Spanish and mysterious? Noooo…. Maybe…) (Jk, it’d probably be Bayonetta)
Lana: Palutena girl all the way.
Ema: Loves R.O.B to death. Swear to god. Sometimes mains Ridley.
Justine: Byleth. Because you can’t not have someone who mains a Fire Emblem character.

Meanings of names. Batim/Batdr edition!
Hello there! I'm back with another name meanings list! This time it's the Bendy verse, because it was immortalized (Hehe heh get it) yet again, and I couldn't be more excited.
So! I will be doing the primary characters for both games, BUT not all of them. I’ll be doing all the folks from Batim, since there aren’t as many as in Batdr, which added a TON of new characters and I for the live of me can't do them all. It would take me an eternity, so there... So, I won’t do those who had like one tape or memo. Sorry. I also will not be including characters from the comics or the books. Yeah. (but I can do a part 2 if you guys want ehehehehe)
Let's go!
Toons (not doing the corrupted versions, they’re technically the same)
Bendy. I'm pretty sure that Meatly made it up from the name of some editing program. Something something Bender, not sure.
Boris. From a Bulgar Turkic name, also recorded as Bogoris, perhaps meaning "short" or "wolf" or "snow leopard". Hey! Literally a wolf!
Alice. From the Old French name Aalis, a short form of Adelais, itself a short form of the Germanic name Adalheidis, which means "noble type". Hmm, I like it! Fits her. I’m obviously also counting Twisted Alice and Allison Angel. They all have the same name.
Charley (one of my favourite characters hehehehe). Diminutive form of Charles, which means "man". Literally. Just man. MAN. That’s it. I guess that fits... Charley is, after all, A MALE. Yeah.
Barley. Means “grower of barley”. Lmao. Just like that.
Edgar. Derived from the Old English elements ead "wealth, fortune" and gar "spear". I mean... I guess? He has nothing to do with spears, but he’s got fangs. They’re sharp. Spears are sharp.
Humans (from here on going in alphabet order)
Allison Pendle. Norman French diminutive of Aalis, so basically the same as Alice. Cool! She’s very sweet, so it fits for her as well!
Audrey Drew (putting her here because I don’t really count her as an ink entity). Medieval diminutive of Æðelþryð, which is derived from the Old English elements æðel "noble" and þryð "strength". Oh, she sure is strong!
Bertrum Piedmont. Means "bright raven", derived from the Germanic element beraht "bright" combined with hramn "raven". Uhhmm. Ooook then. Not sure where the raven comes from.
Daniel ”Buddy” Lewek. From the Hebrew name דָּנִיֵּאל (Daniyyel), meaning "God is my judge". Nuuuu, Buddy:( I still feel very bad for him... Man, poor guy.
Grant Cohen. From an English and Scottish surname that was derived from Norman French grand meaning "great, large". Well, his boss had GRANT plans for the studio (please don’t hurt me, I know the pun is bad).
Henry Stein (the man!). From the Germanic name Heimirich meaning "home ruler", composed of the elements heim "home" and ric "ruler". OOOOHH, i love it! Considering he is the actual creator of Bendy, he technically is the ruler!
Jack Fain. Derived from Jackin (earlier Jankin), a medieval diminutive of John, which itself is derived from the Hebrew name יוֹחָנָן (Yochanan) meaning "Yahweh is gracious". Maybe Jack is jewish? It’s unlikely, but I literally don’t know what to say here.
Joey Dr(ew). Diminutive of Joseph, which was from the Hebrew name יוֹסֵף (Yosef), meaning "he will add". Endless torment, that’s what he’ll add. Ugh, poor Henry.
Lacie Benton. Variant of Lacy. From a surname that was derived from Lassy, the name of a town in Normandy. I couldn’t really find anything else, so...I guess?
Nathan Arch Sr. From the Hebrew name נָתָן (Natan) meaning "he gave". Wha- what’d he give? A new chance for Bendy to be relevant again? Idk, really.
Nathan ”Wilson” Arch Jr (please don’t hurt me, but I kinda like him as a villain... Like, yeah, he’s creepy as all heck, but isn’t that kinda the point? So there, I said it). I will be doing his moniker, since duh. The name comes from an English surname meaning "son of William". Eeeehhhh, almost fits, just replace William with Nathan.
Norman Polk (eeeeyyyy it’s ma dude!). From an old Germanic byname meaning "northman", referring to a viking. Now that’s interesting. I can’t tell English accents apart very well, but I saw someone say he’s got a southern accent. And then there’s NORTHman. Hmmmm.
Sammy Lawrence. Diminutive of Samuel, coming from the Hebrew name שְׁמוּאֵל (Shemu'el), which could mean either "name of God" or "God has heard". Lmao, I guess his god really did hear him. And decided to fucking murder him.
Shawn Flynn. Anglicized form of Seán, which on itself is the Irish form of John, so basically the same as Jack.
Susie Campbell. Diminutive of Susan. This was derived from the Hebrew word שׁוֹשָׁן (shoshan) meaning "lily" (in modern Hebrew this also means "rose"), perhaps ultimately from Egyptian sšn "lotus". Oh, maybe those are her favourite flowers!
Thomas Connor. Greek form of the Aramaic name תָּאוֹמָא (Ta'oma') meaning "twin". OH he and Buddy are technically twins! Or, well, clones.
Wally Franks. Diminutive of Walter, which comes from a Germanic name meaning "ruler of the army", composed of the elements wald "rule" and hari "army". Pffft, he’s the ruler of the army that got OUTTA THE STUDIO, yeah ok it fits.
Ink entities (not doing Sammy, Jack and Norman for obvious reasons)
Betty. Diminutive of Elizabeth. From Ἐλισάβετ (Elisabet), the Greek form of the Hebrew name אֱלִישֶׁבַע ('Elisheva') meaning "my God is an oath". The heck- did she turn into Sammy?
Big Steve. Short form of Steven, which derives from the Greek name Στέφανος (Stephanos) meaning "crown, wreath". Uhh, I guess? Is there something that we have yet to discover?
Heidi. German diminutive of Adelheid, which means "noble type", from the French form of the Germanic name Adalheidis. Damn, what’s with all the nobles? Unrelated, but I love her bowtie.
Porter. From an occupational English surname meaning "doorkeeper". Oooohh, ok then, he technically is one.
And that’s it! Whew, took me quite some time. Please do tell me if you want a part two with the other folks! I’m not sure, when (and if) I’ll make it, we’l have to see.

Warnings: Death and jealousy
Summary: Wally’s been spending too much time Maddie for his girlfriend’s liking and it becomes too much during movie night.
“I mean guys! He’s literally drooling all over her like a crippled dying puppy!” I complain to Rhonda and Charley
“What does the puppy have to be crippled and dying?” Charley wondered “that’s besides the point”
“I don’t care but, maybe you should talk to him, or whatever” Rhonda enjoyed her lollipop, half listening to me
“She’s right and Wally is just helping Maddie come to terms with her death” Charley reminded me “He didn’t do that to me, and I didn’t die that long ago” I argue
“Well we’re having movie night tonight so, you and Wally can spend a bunch of time together” Rhonda sarcastically speaks “I won’t be there”
“Yeah everyone’s picking a movie right now!” Charley grabs my hand and pulls me to the library
As soon as we get there I Wally and Maddie all buddy buddy on the couch. How could he act like this when I’m right here, has he no heart?
“Maybe this isn’t the right place to be” Charley tried to lead me away “No let’s stay” I oblige
“Are we gonna look for a movie or are you gonna watch Wally the whole time” Charley asks “Here’s a movie, Aladdin!” I held a movie in my hand
I wasn’t even sure what it was because I wasn’t looking at anything but my boyfriend and his new friend.
“That’s The Princess and The Frog” Charley corrected “Even better!” I finally look away “Mr. Martin we’re The Princess and The Frog” I inform as the man silently agrees
“I’m already dead so why does it feel like I’m dying all over again” My face falls into my hands “It might be because he’s laughing at her jokes right now”
Night finally comes and Mr. Martin sets up the projector and plays the movie. “Come with me to get snacks” I ask Rhonda “Why? You know I always ditch movie night” She attempts to decline the offer
“Come on!” I scoff “Jeez, you’re so snippy lately” Rhonda says as she follows me to the teachers lounge
Rhonda attempts to make small talk once we make it to the teachers lounge. “So…excited to spend time with your boy toy?” She emptied a back of chips into a bowl “Totally!” I get the drinks
We make our way back to the gym and the sight makes my heart stop…again. There’s Wally staring into her eyes and moving a piece of hair out of her face. I drop the drinks and walk out of the room.
No one to comfort me whilst I cried except the hallway walls. Heartbreak hurts way more when you’re dead and I wish Maddie wasn’t dead, I wish she’d just pass on already so things could go back to how they were.
“Hey” I hear a voice that turns out to be Wally “what” I turn back around “shouldn’t you be with your new girlfriend?” I wipe my tears
“What do you mean?” He sits his body next to me “You and Maddie” I say in a duh tone “Maddie isn’t anything more than a friend” He promises
“I saw how you looked at her and touched her hair” Tears start to fall again “and you two were sitting in our spot” I added
“That’s completely my fault! I got so caught up that I forgot what’s really important, you” He set his head on my shoulder
“Oh please” I roll my eyes “I understand 15 years is a long time and that you don’t wanna be together anymore” I tell him
“What? No I wanna spend the rest of my life, well…afterlife with you” Wally’s hands caressed my shoulder “Promise?” I finally look at him “Pinky promise” he held out his pinky and we shared a kiss
“Look at the love birds” Rhonda spoke sarcastically to which we giggle
Guys I haven’t posted in a while 😭that’s my fault so this is a little bad.

JD x Kevin x Reader Reading/Book Headcanons
J.D.
Musical J.D. is canonically a Baudelaire-quoting bad boy, and I think movie J.D. would honestly enjoy Baudelaire’s work too. I know this because I’ve made an entire Google doc about the things I think J.D. would enjoy reading.
Aside from Baudelaire I think he would also enjoy e. e. cummings and-- ironically enough given the Heather Chandler situation-- Sylvia Plath. I think that he enjoys reading her because her poetry about her depression and suicide, like “Lady Lazarus,” is something he’d read to try and make sense of his mom’s death and it would help him feel more connected to her in some ways.
On the non-poetry side of things I think he reads a lot of philosophy. He reads Nietzche and Foucault and draws... interesting conclusions from their works. Maybe fuels his god complex along the way. I think he’d also enjoy The Catcher in the Rye, duh, and also Steinbeck’s Travels with Charley.
He’s definitely a philosophy bro. I definitely think that should J.D. have gone to college he would have ended up majoring in philosophy or English simply because i think he would have taken a lot of classes in those two, needed to declare a major, and saw that credits wise those would make the most sense for him.
Overall J.D. is someone who enjoys reading and enjoys feeling smart and superior to the Kurts and Rams of the world so you very often will see him with a book in his hand.
He’s tried to get Kevin interested in his books a couple of times, but he’s largely given up. J.D. is a quick learner and he quickly picked up that trying to make Kevin interested in something was a futile task.
Still, that does not save Kevin from having to listen to J.D. break down random philosophical theories and it’s always unclear if Kevin is somewhat appreciative of how smart J.D. is, or if he’s considering choking him. J.D. assumes it’s the former as he hasn’t been choked yet.
If you like to read though, he loves to discuss books with you. He is the type that literally cannot read anything and “just enjoy” it everything is going to get analysis even if that analysis is utterly trashing it if he disliked it.
Will always take your book recommendations but won’t always finish them if they don’t interest him
Kevin Khatchadourian
The only thing you are going to catch this guy reading of his own volition is Robin Hood
It‘s not just that he found the act of writing school essays about books trite and boring, but he finds reading-- when not for a specific purpose-- boring as well. He’ll read internet articles about hacking and he’ll occasionally read books with very disturbing contents but you won’t often find him simply reading for pleasure or relaxation like you’ll find J.D.
He does, however, enjoy watching J.D. read to you. You with your head in J.D.’s lap, trying to act like you don’t notice the way J.D.’s tone gets a bit more invested when he’s reading about murder and vigilante justice. The way you squirm is something he enjoys much more than reading most books.
One day, if you’re sick, and just so happen to be sick when Kevin is in a good mood, you may wake up to find him entering the bedroom with his copy of Robin Hood, which he starts reading to you with zero explanation. It’s always hard to tell Kevin’s motivation for anything, but you’d like to think that it’s a very rare glimpse into the fact that he does care about you (and J.D.) in his own certain way.

But please do continue to correspond with the woman who loooooves to leak private letters, you know the woman who thinks she's your reincarnated ex-wife? You're a genius, Charley boy!
When Harry and Meghan gave that interview, they had ZERO proof. All they had was Harry's word against the other party's word. Which without a witness means nothing.
Charles, in his brilliance, decides to give them the exact proof they were lacking. By not only acknowledging the incident, but by naming the person who made the comment.
ISTG this family can't help but shoot itself in the foot over and over again. And by family, I mean Charles.

Ok since this is off topic from my event ramble
I have a Red apple (their ship name or Popel) ramble
Epel, Poppy and Charley (<- js there for Popel filler- he is like Chip from beauty and teh beast. The name is still a thought process) playing together and they do a role play with the kids where Poppy purposely wants to be the damsel in distress (my girl fantasizes princesses fr-) and Epel who was the dragon (dragons are cool so duh he wanted that role) quickly says he wants to be the knight instead and tells Charley to switch with him 😭

BUT THE TWISTED CHIP?? I AM CRYING AT THE CUTENESS UGHHHHH

On the other hand, Charley was looking bummed, having lost with victory in sight.
"I should've known I couldn't outrun the guy who bikes 2 hours just to get to school"

Already clutching an apple plush, Epel squished it around.
"Aww it even has a small smiley face!"
Noticing Poppy's starry eyed look, Epel looked at the plush in his hand and offered it to her.
"If you like it, then you can have it. I'm not into this sort of cutesy stuff anyway. "
"Wait really!? Are you sure?! "
"Duh. Besides I have a buncha other toys at home anyway."
"thank you thank you thank you! "
Swinging the plush on her arms, Poppy was beaming at the gift. All whike, Charley gave Epel a knowing look.
"be honest, you only picked that gift cause you knew she'd like it"

Dark eyes widen as he froze like a deer in headlights, only this deer didn't want to turn and face the lights, or rather, the nightmare that haunted his dreams.The younger slowly gulped, swallowing the fear and slowly turned to the older vampire that had turned him. The memory made his eyes narrow and his ankle twitch on some past instinct. Silence was his tongue while his thoughts raced. Every instinct he had to hold back to bare his teeth, given he doubted that would be very intimidating."Kind of was hoping you were an exception." He retorted finally. His own teeth remaining human, but the ache to bare and growl was there. "Had worse." He added. The ankle was a tickle next to nearly getting decapitated.And he didn't bother to hide it, nor did he bring it up. Charley's scent was fresh on him, while Adam's was older by some hours give or take. Clearly shows where his loyalty lied, given they smelled very human still. While he had the courage still like he did before, the bit of fear still gave him away, Evil was maybe a decade old now. What was that to some ancient? A blink? "And you didn't learn the first time either. Why are you back here?" He had another no-duh guess, but he may as well humor the guy.

The idiot boy he had turned just to get to his friend, to make sure Charley was the one who should have killed his own pal. To rub in the salt of guilt, of shame, everything else including the loss Charley would feel after he snatched Amy from him. All that was in the past now, all of it a decade ago now--or just about. The thing was, revenge is always sweeter when you wait for safety and security to grow.
That is when you take.
“Death doesn’t come a’knockin’ all that easily when you’ve lived so long.” He wanted to remind him, in fact--why not remind him of the fact that he still held as much control as he did before..? Knowing that the younger vampire he created was most likely gnashing behind closed lips, eager to show the little strength he had. It made Jerry smile--out of amusement.
“Mmm..” He nodded his head, tilting it slightly. “There is worse yet to come for you, though by now I’d have thought you would flake out and stab yourself with a stake.” Jerry shrugged, his smirk returning to his always lightly red-tinted lips. “Guess we were both wrong about one another..”

i have attempted typing out my thoughts several times and im pretty sure im having WAY too many thoughts about fright night 1985 & fright night 2011 + the 1985 novelization because it’s one (1) piece of media but they essentially boil down to
when it comes to pacing and atmosphere i do prefer the 1985 film
heath mentioned that in the original people didn’t believe them whereas there was virtually no resistance or skepticism in the 2011 remake which i think definitely is a central part of the story like part of the horror is that no one believes you and everyone thinks your fucking crazy and the 2011 version missing out on that might mean it’s a less frustrating experience for the protagonist but it kinda takes the punch outta things
i prefer anton’s charley over his 1985 counterpart but i need to be absolutely clear about the fact that i am not saying that based on anything like talent or ability i think 1985 charley is a very apt characterization of “an average suburban white teenage boy” who’s bad at math, horny all the time, and a bad boyfriend, who gets involved with the supernatural when he finds out his neighbor is a vampire, i’m saying it because i have an enormous soft spot for yelchin and his roles whether they’re well done or not
however that being said it felt like they made him... slightly less of a bozo in the 2011 remake which isn’t bad per se but there is a difference between them or at least i think there is. idk about that though i think i just have my goggles on too tight
i am very happy to report that i like BOTH portrayals of jerry. the 1985 version of him adheres to the more classic mold of the vampire featured heavily in american media. i think the fact they got prince humperdink’s actor to play him is utterly delightful and im a very big fan overall. like you take one look at him and you’re like yeah i’ll believe you’re 4 centuries old. and then we have the remake’s jerry. and let me say. jerry dandrige is a fucking FREAK and a BOZO. (and hot hot hot hottttttt) and it feels like they cranked up the dial on the freak and bozo levels for the 2011 version which i think was very apt considering they played into the modern setting of the 2010s and farrel’s jerry felt much more modern despite having (roughly) the same backstory of his 1985 counterpart. like. they are the same guy. they are different guys. they are different incarnations of the same guy. i love it. i am glad we have both.
the 2011 film is both a remake and its own film and like obviously DUH like i know that but like. idk i just like both and im glad we HAVE both you know. like ultimately these movies are not taking up a lot of my brainpower but RIGHT NOW they are. so.

"What if you were told that a nightmare you had just kept reoccurring?" A familiar, fear inducing, dread crawling voice swept behind Ed. A few heavy boot steps and the beast of burden appeared before him. The man with the fangs who started it all, presumably dying by scorching flame combined with a mighty stake to the heart.
Evil can always rise from the ashes.
"What if I told you..killing a vampire isn't as easy as you would think, huh?" He could feel his old rage burning up his chest, through to his throat. Baring his fangs as he spoke, Jerry raised his brows. "How's the ankle, guy?"

Dark eyes widen as he froze like a deer in headlights, only this deer didn't want to turn and face the lights, or rather, the nightmare that haunted his dreams.
The younger slowly gulped, swallowing the fear and slowly turned to the older vampire that had turned him. The memory made his eyes narrow and his ankle twitch on some past instinct. Silence was his tongue while his thoughts raced. Every instinct he had to hold back to bare his teeth, given he doubted that would be very intimidating.
"Kind of was hoping you were an exception." He retorted finally. His own teeth remaining human, but the ache to bare and growl was there. "Had worse." He added. The ankle was a tickle next to nearly getting decapitated.
And he didn't bother to hide it, nor did he bring it up. Charley's scent was fresh on him, while Adam's was older by some hours give or take. Clearly shows where his loyalty lied, given they smelled very human still.
While he had the courage still like he did before, the bit of fear still gave him away, Evil was maybe a decade old now. What was that to some ancient? A blink? "And you didn't learn the first time either. Why are you back here?" He had another no-duh guess, but he may as well humor the guy.

On the Waterfront (1954)
This isn’t my favourite movie of the bunch. The bunch being TCM’s The Essentials, Volume 1. It’s good but it’s not my favourite.
First of all, it’s not my favourite Brando film. My favourite being The Island of Dr. Moreau (KIDDING!) Are you still reading? My favourite Brando role is Streetcar, Duh. He’s got some weird eyeliner action in Waterfront and a little too much brooding but I tell you when he looks at Eva Marie Saint with that half smile - well - she was one lucky girl. Don’t misunderstand, Marlon Brando plays a great Terry Malloy and I doubt if anyone could have improved on it - but it’s not my favourite.
Then Eva Marie Saint, who I try to dislike but she’s actually pretty good. She just has to yell, “Terry, Terry” so much you think she was saying it just to hear herself say it. But that’s the dialog and the part, not the actress. The actress is really pretty good. And when she smiles up at Marlon boy, you can hear the bells. Those two had good chemistry.
Who was my favourite in this movie? Rod Steiger. My new Dead BF. Side note - I am seriously thinking about a series on Dead White Guys - I was going to keep to Dead White Guys of the 70′s but I could be persuaded to expand. Anyway - Rod Steiger plays a buttoned-up mob advisor and Terry’s brother and those two roles come into conflict and Steiger’s character gets in a pinch. Oh but he’s good, Steiger is. He’s not in a lot of scenes but I think he steals the ones he’s in. I listened to an interview of him talking about shooting that taxi cab scene and the division between the two brothers and I swear he got sentimental. Like he could still feel the emotions of that scene and that day’s shoot all those many years ago. Like he was still Charley Malloy.
One more thing I noticed - dead homing pigeons in Waterfront and dead homing pigeons in Ghostdog, Way of the Samurai. Yes, I see your homage Jim Jarmusch. It may have taken me a while to put those two scenes together, but I see you!
I also prefer other Elia Kazan films to this one. Splendor or Streetcar for example. So while I feel Kazan is an essential filmmaker and Brando is an essential actor - I don’t think the Waterfront combo should have made the list. Switch with Streetcar and I’m all in. I’ll trade Steiger for Leigh...just this once.

I want to talk about the ‘Limetown’ ending
I get that I’m a couple of years late for this, but I just finished listening to the whole thing at 4:12 this morning haha. I actually really liked the ending! And apparently many people did not! So I’m going to talk about why I liked it!
DISCLAIMER: this is obviously not the general consensus about the matter and I’m not invalidating or criticising it because my opinion is totally different. And SPOILERS... duh.
Firstly, I wanted to talk about the change in structure to season 2 - I know a lot of people preferred the the radio show format of season 1 and, honestly, I also really liked it. But, apart from the fact that our beloved radio host got kidnapped at the end of season 1, the change makes sense from a storytelling perspective. The first half of the show was a question of ‘what’ and ‘how’:
What was Limetown?
What happened to all the people who lived there?
How did it happen?
Once all of these had gotten answered, the question was now ‘why’. Why did it happen? And the answer to this question is Emile Haddock. Of course, as the answer is a person, the way to achieve it is going to be a very personal journey, so the recordings (although unexplained in canon) do showcase that journey very effectively.
This does move on to my next point quite nicely: there are quite a few loose ends at the end of the story, and that’s not a bad thing. The big one, of course, is that we have no clue what happened to Lia Haddock. It can be inferred from the ending that “Charlie” (it could also be “Charley” - Wikipedia uses both) found her after Daniel gave her Lia’s location and handed her over the company that Lenore worked for, that they are the ones who asked about her dreams in the final minutes of the season 2 finale. Their questions about her dreams could possibly mean that she’s been given the contact, but I honestly haven’t given that part enough thought to come to any conclusions. Please give me some of your theories though!
Anyway, the second loose end is “Charlie”. Up until the end of the episode we think we’re learning more and more about her as Emile gets her to talk more about her family, but that’s all revealed to be a fabrication. In the end, the only concrete information we have about her is the fact that she worked for the same company that Lenore and Daniel did. Everything that we’ve built emotionally with “Charlie” throughout the second season is completely null. We’re left only with a façade.
The final loose end is, of course, the contacts. The tech that was the fruits of Limetown’s horrific labour, that Emile destroyed hundreds of lives for. We don’t know what’s happening with it, other than the fact that it’s going to be released to the public... soon? What happens next is anyone’s guess. It’s a wave building up and up and up on the shoreline and it’ll never crash.
These three things are the cause of much frustration for many listeners because they are left wondering. But I think that that might actually be the point. See, the centre of this whole thing has always been Emile Haddock and season 2 of ‘Limetown’ tells his story. He’s the eye of the storm, the man that they were all there for. It’s essentially a third-person perspective of Emile and it’s certainly not omniscient, so, as he grieves the loss of Lia in that movie theatre, wondering about “Charlie”, about Lia, unsure and confused, we the listener are there with him. He doesn’t care about the tech anymore, he cares about Lia - just like the listeners. He’s in shock, lost in a state of unknowing that he’s never had to face before. And the writers of the show passed that onto us beautifully - we’re learning the truth as he does.
Also, just before I finish, did “Charlie’s” voice sound like Lia’s to any of you at 38:04 for a brief moment? Because it sure did to me.
