Kaya thought her horse seemed almost as excited as her frisky dog. She pressed her cheek to Steps High’s muzzle and stroked her horse’s chest, feeling the strong, loyal heart beating there. Kaya swung up into the saddle and settled her feet in the stirrups. Urging Steps High into a run, Kaya galloped out to meet the visitors on their horses appearing over the horizon.

Freaking gorgeous and very dangerous, I don't need to say more but I will, they're resourceful hunters and resilient, kind of loners.
Freddy - Hawk headed Parrot
Funny little guys, they're social and like attention, very vocal and expressive, a little scatterbrained.
Sabrina - Island Fox
She's a sly fox and there's that. They tend to live in tight-knit families, adaptable, confident and cunning.
Bobby - Mandrill
They're hierarchical and cliquish, also very bold and self-serving.
Johnston - Waterbuck
Proud and competitive but cautious. Elegant little fucks.
Tamsin - Jackson's Hornibill
Social and bold, very charming, also a little dramatic.
Jimmy - Big eared Bat
I just thought it was cute. Go with the flow, calm and friendly.
Rosanne - Rufous Hummingbird
Pretty and dainty and fit for a princess but confident, proud and opportunistic.

Loyal, energetic and impulsive. Look mean but are soft. (I almost gave him a boxer for the joke)

I don't know much but the vibes I get are calm and gentle, like they'd give good advice lol.

Just ranting into the void but now that I'm rewatching the anime some changes that OPLA made that I really appreciate--
Having Nami be there for the Mihawk fight, the entire way the new Baratie arc was handled. Luffy dealing with an existential crisis after Zoro is defeated, Zeff helping save Zoro's life, telling them to read/talk to him to keep him tethered, Nami being a part of that. Luffy so fucked up about it all that he can't eat, Sanji being there and sharing his own story as a way to comfort Luffy and commiserate that sometimes we have to make hard decisions and live with them. Usopp encouraging Luffy to just talk to him, offering emotional support while he thinks of what to say and being there for The Speech.
The OPLA had less time to solidify resonant bonds between our first few Straw hats and it creatively shifted and condensed the events of the original in order to do so in a way that was just masterful adaptation
And goddamn it's exceedingly hard not to love that version of events more even as an animanga fan

I love his little malapropisms, which are always kind of insulting and always delivered with maximum confidence.
Dishonorable mention for making Luffy say “Miss Kaya.” First, because he absolutely does not remember her name (he doesn’t even use her name in the Japanese.) And Luffy rarely uses honorifics, so even if he DID remember Kaya’s name he wouldn’t have added the “Miss.”

Honestly. I still can't really see Usopp x Kaya and I know people were going berserk for the Kiss but I've never really understood childhood friends to lovers trope. They grew up together I always just imagine them as siblings - not judging people who like childhood friends to lovers.

YOU JUST KNOW THAT'S THE FIRST TIME IN YEARS SOMEONE'S PICKED USOPP UP, LISTENED TO HIM, THE FIRST PERSON THAT'S SAID THEY BELIEVED HIM SINCE HIS MOTHER DIED-- AND THEY'RE MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS AND I'M IN LOVE WITH THEM. Cobylu has been canon since the beginning but it's such a rare pair I feel so vindicated!!! They're my absolute favorite type of enemies to lovers because they don't hate eachother at all they love eachother but neither will give up such a crucial part of themselves to be with the other so they fight a little and they're so proud every time they see the other grow and change and maybe if the world were different they wouldn't sail under flags that have caused so much grief for the other. Maybe if the world would change they wouldn't be on opposite sides of a war that started long before they were born and they will never see the end of. But they're working their hardest and expecting the other to work just as hard so they can get stronger and clash again if only to see eachother again. Also I love them
