This diptych contemporary landscape is part of a series of paintings that pays homage to the sacred and majestic aura of the Olgas and Uluru in Central Australia. 

On those rare occasions when it rains in these areas, the ancient rock formations transform into ethereal monoliths. 

To achieve the shrouded effect on the rock required several fine glazing layers of  acrylic paint with small areas of collage.

This was home during childhood. We would climb Mt Gillen in the west. The further you go, the steeper it gets testing your stamina until a plateau develops and your 360° view is usually stunning. 2009's iPhone 3GS holds up well in the archives for its age (albeit when strong lighting and Instagram filters are available).
