Why are videogames hard when you put them on hard mode :(
#playing kh2 on critical mode#and like. here’s the thing.#i don’t play games on hard. i’m not here for the challenge i’m here for the story and some good times#but i really want to earn the secret ending for once so here we are on critical#i’ve gotten through every boss so far no problem (mostly)#but despite this NOT being a completionist playthrough i am still fucking incapable of finishing a kh game without collecting#every treasure chest#i just have to collect them#and i just can’t fucking get past that last nobody fight in cavern of remembrance#i leveled up specifically for this. i spent like two hours on it#still nothing#i guess i just need to level up even more :/ (i’m level 68)#i literally finished my beginner playthrough on level 67 lmao. i completed all of CoR at a lower level but oh well#kh#kingdom hearts

Just started replaying Kingdom Hearts BBS, but on proud mode for the first time ever ✨
Let's see how much I regret it...
#Always played on Standard#But I found kh3D and kh3 on standard to be painfully easy#well minus the data fights but I don't even know if they scale to the difficulty mode or just stay always the same xd#but then again bbs is closer to kh2 than dream drop and 3 release date wise so would that mean that bbs proud mode is similar to kh2 proud?#The only benchmark I have is that in kh2fm standard mode roxas fight and final cavern of remembrance fights were a good challenge#we'll see I guess xdd#kingdom hearts#kh#kh bbs#kingdom hearts birth by sleep#Kh proud mode

The Secrets of The Secret Room: KH2's Hidden Boss Arena as a Future Plot Point.
Anyone remember that Secret Room in KH2? The FRUSTRATINGLY difficult-to-reach one within the basement caves of Ansem's Castle? The one that lets you fight Data copies of the Organization XIII members? THAT Secret Room?

Well, what if we look at KH as a series and its LOVE for hiding plot within gameplay mechanics... and look at that Secret Room again after the Lore Bombs from KHUX & KH3?
The KH series LOVES to "hide" lore & plot foreshadowing within game mechanics: the different/same coloured dream portals in DDD & KH3, the "reset" levels in each game, Anti-Sora and Rage Form...
i wonder who, exactly, set up that Data Combat Record of Organization XIII members?
the easiest candidate is DiZ: he has the means, motive & opportunity to have set something like that up (know your enemy).
it's also plausible that Saïx set it up for Axel, a means of preparing him for assassinations but it doesn't make much sense given that Axel would need that combat data BEFORE he fought his targets while the Data Room only has those 'records' AFTER targets are defeated.
Xehanort is another candidate, perhaps setting the system up in order to have Data Copies of the Organization to fall back on for Future Use (no time travel required!). it WOULD be easier to put a Data Copy into a Replika than trying to locate, say, Lauriam or Arlene (who he only seemed to meet through Xigbar) upon their recompletion.
There's also That Looming Option of Darkness.
Darkness, getting one (or more) of the above characters to set this room up, ultimately for ITS use: Darkness seemingly needs 13 Vessels in its Game with MoM and, going with Sleeping Realm Theory, KH3 DID seem to imply that Data Riku & Young Master Xehanort were not only working for (or with) Darkness but were investigating how Hearts & darkness interacted with DATA.
KH's Primordial Darkness IS canonically tech-savvy: the Secret Room of Data Organization XIII fits EXACTLY within its modus operandi.
it's not JUST Darkness who knows of/discovered this Secret Room, however: Sora & Team Guardians of Light did too.
KH3 somewhat implies that Ienzo and Even learned of the Secret Room after being recompleted: it's probably what they were referencing when trying to set Xion & Roxas up in Replika bodies.
If Roxas is now made up of himself AND his Data Copies (from Data Twilight Down & the Secret Room)... it solves the issue of his dual-wielding keyblades despite no longer having 2 "real" Hearts to source them from.
I don't think that either of these Data Roxases would feel a need to have their own Replika bodies: Axel's Nobody formed a Heart but it integrated with his "recompleted" self without issue, just as all these Roxases would. These Hearts can merge or otherwise exist alongside each other without any issue because they share the same "Soul" (or, at least, there are no conflicting memories within their Timelines).
Xehanort did not seem much affected by Xemnas seemingly forming a Heart either: the "lived time" of Xemnas simply went back to Xehanort (& if the transistion WASN'T so seamless... it's not like he would care & he ended up Time Travelling Xemnas before any conflicts of heart could arise anyway).
Terra, on the other hand... well, Xemnas got the Fixation with Aqua's Armour from SOMEONE.
Back to That Secret Room...
my munny's on Darkness bringing that Data Organization XIII back into play at some point, if only to allow more Hidden Boss Gameplay post-KH3 for the purposes of "strengthening" the Darkness within its vessels.
It makes me wonder if the "Demyx" met during KH3 was actually a "Data Demyx": he and Luxord do not seem native to [this side of] "Reality" but to the home of Nameless Star, going by the Verum Rex trailer in Toy Box & the Secret Ending(s) of KH3.
the premise where DiZ or Xehanort sets up the Data Organization for further study, only for it to get used by Darkness could just as easily apply to XIGBAR/Luxu for MoM but... Darkness is the entity with the greater connection to Data Hearts so, regardless of WHO this Secret Room was set up by, it's probably Darkness who'll bring that game mechanic into the future of KH's Story.

haritora feets - Roxy | watercolor sketch, pigments PBk11, PY184, PB29, PV19
I used VRChat to actually socialize! I followed @cavern-of-remembrance here on tumblr when I was first learning about VRC. Roxy’s VR self-portraits inspired me to take up photography in VRC, where I met other photographers! And there’s SO many similarly inspiring artists of all mediums I’ve been introduced to through her reblogs!
Talking about the tech of VR seems to be “the weather” of VRC conversations. Roxy uses a headset and additional hardware (HaritoraX) for full body tracking, so when we met I was like “oooo leggies!” A good icebreaker topic, I think?
When I was describing the hangout to a partner the next day, the words that came out to describe the additional hardware were “she’s got haritora feets”.
I think the vivid hue of her hair strikes me as very close to PB29/ultramarine blue, which made me want to paint it! So that was the base of the palette. The gradient stripe on the pants was so fun to paint!!
Thank you Roxy for showing this old possum some great VRC worlds and art!

- Ike would smell of old book pages, not the must and dustiness, but the crisp scent of parchment, as if sitting in an old library by an open fire, enjoying a nice cup of tea or coffee, along with the bold strokes and notes of ink.
- A smell that reminds one of their younger days where everything was simpler, where a story would take one away into a world of joy and bliss.
- Bath and Body Works scent: Fairytale mixed with a soft musk
Luca Kaneshiro:
- A commanding yet relaxing scent, one that you’d find on a knit hat or scarf, casting away from the small yet harsh wind, a crisp cold filling your senses. One perfect for a distant memory.
- A warm embrace type smell that continues to linger even after many washes, something that screams sophisticated and important but not cocky. A gentle smell that doesn’t overpower the world yet will remain in ones mind for days or weeks to come.
- Bath and Body Works scent: Sweater Weather
Vox Akuma:
- All attention would be whisked away at the mere thought of the remembrance, a dark undertone fit for a monster but not for one who looks so much like an angel. A distant world filled with respect and covered in flame, so distant that one can not be sure if it’s hell or the world they currently inhabit.
- Something about the smell is bitter, as if withholding thousands of painful memories, yet it’s a comfort as much as a reminder. It is truly the scent a leader would carry, a scent fit for a demon.
- Bath and Body Works scent: Sweet Whiskey
Mysta Rias:
- A bustling city, every smell, every sight mixing together except for the man in orange, his cologne wafting off him in waves through the chilly wind, a tender scent that can only speak of importance. A cavern building as the man further vanishes from sight.
- Despite the hustle and bustle of busy streets, you know there’s only one who would remind you of such dark despair, and you won’t lose him again, not after the years apart.
- Bath and Body Works scent: Smoked Old Fashion
Shu Yamino:
- A smell that can bring one to a whole different dimension, a world they’ve never seen or experienced, yet continue to linger as a deja vu type of muse. The scent is trapped within your mind, a far forgotten face that smiles as you dance, sweeter notes mixing beautifully with the earthier tones.
- A scent that rejuvenates a soul, one that can only be done with magic. Yet, no matter where it came from, you’re sure it’ll never leave, at least not for a long while.
- Bath and Body Works scent: Japanese Cherry Blossoms
Kyo Kaneko:
- Although found within a sterile environment, one can’t help but smile at the faint strawberry smell, a breath of life in a seemingly dead room. Following the breeze into the night sky, it’s a scent that one begins to long for, to meet the one who is so far yet still so close.
- A tone of lovely relief, enchanting the mind as you wish to waltz the stars, wondering if the one you’re searching for resides under the same moon as you.

- A distant smell that is warm, one that continues to remind those of another’s presence. Not too powerful but one that seems fit for a person who is shrouded by mystery. Someone you’ve never seen yet feel safe with.
- A type of scent that calms your woes and worries, similar to that of a childhood detergent that feels so familiar, yet one you can never seem to properly place. A far off feeling that continues to return, no matter how long it’s passed.
- Bath and Body Works scent: Among The Clouds or Cloud Nine
Ren Zotto:
- A world unknown to the source, a scent just as unfamiliar. It’s a type of lull that screams ‘find me’ one in which you can feel yourself fall deeper into as days pass. It’s only time that separates the wishes of the human heart that beats steadily through the flow of life.
- A whole new dimensional scent, one that’s hard to place but matches so well to the lost being that holds it. A dream wishing to become reality as he follows in the worlds long forgotten path.
