I don't ask usually for reblogs but neonazis close to the alt-right councilor of Castelló have attacked a public leftist party during Madalena fiestas using baseball bats and metal rods. They left +30 injured one of those is critical. Police only showed up to cover the retreat of the armed group and did nothing to prevent the attack

Festes de la Magdalena in Castelló de la Plana, Valencian Country.

Every year, the city of Castelló celebrates its festivities for 9 days, starting on the third Sunday of Lent. It commemorates the origins of the city, when it moved from the mountain to the fertile plain in 1252.

For this reason, the most iconic moment of the festivities is the "reeds pilgrimage" (romeria de les canyes), where the inhabitants wake up at dawn to walk to the Magdalena Chapel in the original location of the city carrying a reed with a green ribbon. On the way back, they stop at different landmarks to sing traditional songs.

Another tradition of the Magdalena Festivities is the "gaiates". They are lit up sculptures that represent the lanterns used by the Castelló inhabitants when they moved from the mountains to the plain.
