Friendly reminder that not only do these two share a voice actor, their voice actor is Tara Platt...aka for anyone who has played Fire Emblem Three Houses, Edelgards VA.
As someone who has dedicated most of the last five years of her life to Three Houses I find this factoid deeply amusing. Like when I went to the wiki and found out Morgante was voiced by Tara Platt I fucking screamed.
Honestly Morgante does have similar voice to Edelgard...Kuneko, not so much

Replaying Cassette Beasts has reminded me of how much I love the scene where you discover the Habourtown Station and Archangel Morgante for the first time. When I played Cassette Beasts for the first time, the Morgante encounter was the moment that made me hyped for seeing through the rest of the game.
Archangels and the mystery surrounding them are among the most fascinating things about Cassette Beasts, both in gameplay and in the story and lore, and the Morgante encounter did a great job in setting up the Archangels, making an excellent conclusion to the game's opening sequence.
Archangels' nature as eldritch beings is highlighted by them having different art styles to contrast the pixel art style of the other characters and the world, as well as the screen's glitch effects when you are near an Archangel. When you meet Morgante for the first time, she was greatly wounded with an already low health at the start of the battle. However, the fact that she is also level 100 at the same time, along with unleashing a powerful attack when her Action Points are full, still establishes her as a powerful being. The awesome and memorable battle music is the icing on the cake.
Furthermore, this battle against Morgante is also where you fuse with your party member for the first time, setting up the significance of fusion both in game mechanics and lore of the game.
The player's meeting with Morgante also establishes that the game's main plot is as much about the mystery of the Archangels as the player's goal of finding a way to leave New Wirral and return home, since Morgante's song adds more clues to the path to leave New Wirral after the player finds more Archangels.

Cassette beasts.
so i have played cassette beasts about halfway through, so spoilers are inbound.
for reference on where i am, i have just punched capitalism in the face, and know where every captain i need to defeat is. I just want to share my thoughts about the game so far.
-Ramtasm is a good boy. -Kayleigh is the Kaede of this game and i think she's awesome. -SPITZFIRE. ENOUGH SAID. -Meredith is my favorite party member so far. -Whenever i see Mothmanic all i can think of is angry Leif from bug fables. -I FUCKING LOVE NOWHERE MONARCH. -honestly fuck Morgante i don't trust them. -i think buffy is hot ngl. -Heckahedron is just an angry 4d cube. -Cat-5 is such a good pun and i hate it. -Eugene's honest personality and borderline self-destructive actions have captivated me/j -where the FUCK is Averevoir -i want more Alice-type puzzles with the bigger/smaller mechanic.
and that's about it. i love this game so far and i cant wait to see what comes next hi i'm back and i have slightly more info. -Ms. Amber is also hot -fuck man, this game is weird during the archangel fights -three for three with gwen ALSO being hot. maybe i'm just horny idk I HAVE BEATEN THE GAME -meredith is still the best imo -gwen what the fuck -aleph null is significantly less cool looking than the sum of it's parts. -i'm sorry morgante i didn't mean it heuhfuabkbefuai -i kinda love babbelith -who is mordread? -WHO IS MORDREAD -the new ranger recruit is definitely a furry -I WANT SUNNY AS A PARTY MEMBER SO BAD ASDKFGJHUNGAD -i want to learn the lyrics -fuck you averevoir. -i still have not beaten gwen for her afinity with being random is annoying. -i now have a gun T-Rex -i had this really weird dream that there was another hard to record beast, that looked like a brown otter badger. it was an earth type, and it's name was '???'

ive finally beat the dlc for cassette beasts which means I have like 90% of the story done (before I grind the board) but also I just have to say (spoilers if u haven't beaten the game + dlc yet, also kind of me just being a hater so if you don't feel like reading negative stuff about this game, Then Dont)
the writing with Gwen is kind of weird. honestly the archangels as a whole are weird (especially with morgante being like "okay now I have to kill u teehee as is my nature" after you stop like untold death and destruction. But That's For Another Day)
like am I supposed to feel bad for her? sure she's lonely but I mean. the whole trying to do live experiments on humans thing. viewing them as like straight-up animals instead of like, people. and only promising not to do it, not because it's wrong, but because we as the player character are stronger than her. obviously she'd like have this whole outlook being a god and all, and the game does kind of have a heavy theme with "might makes right" since it's an rpg and The Good Guys™ need a way to like initiate the main gameplay of the game in order to get rid of/convince The Bad Guys™ but uh. why is she then cast in a sympathetic light after she throws a Godly Temper-Tantrum and just goes. oh well you beat me, that's why I won't experiment on peeps, because you beat me, and not because it has many ethical flaws.
And Ok I Get That This Is A Kids Game but if u know me I love complaining about the writing in kid's games and I feel like it would make Gwen a more compelling character if she like, learned to Literally Not Dehumanize Humans Just Because She Perceives Herself As A Superior Lifeform. im getting fucking hatecrimed by these immortals man. what's the point if she doesn't have any character growth and just thinks something is bad without actually knowing why it's bad.
the gods in this game are fucken weird man. like pretty much every one of them has contempt for humans, or at least treats humans as lesser lifeforms just because they aren't as powerful as them. even the fucking mer-line is like "ugh mortals are Below me I'm sending magikrab to go talk to them instead." while presumably being the one who's sending everyone to new wirral when there's no way back. so-
if Gwen is supposed to be a character that's different from the other archangels in the fact that she's fascinated with humans and wants to be around them, whyyy isn't she given more character growth to make her overcome her inherent biases as a Literal God. maybe bytten has more planned for her later down the line but her story felt pretty self-contained and not much else is gonna happen with it Sooo. :) yet another character that I despise (exaggerating) that seeks sympathy even tho they've done nothing to warrant it

From Cassette Beasts, an indie game I love <3
Mammon : *some capitalist bullshit*
Aleph : Morgante wasn’t that bad after all...
Not even the incarnation of war itself can stand the incarnation of capitalism, it’s far too annoying, for f*ck sake! (Maybe he’s also angry that capitalism is now more powerfull than war, lol)

Mobile Friendly Rules and About
RULES:
Intro: My name is Kepler. My pronouns are He/They interchangeably. I have years of rp experience.
The Basics:
Mun =/= Muse. Aleph is a villain and will do villainous things and I do not condone being British.
No Minors. Mun is almost 30. I am not comfortable roleplaying with minors.
Blog is 18+. I do not necessarily plan to have NSFW content on this blog, but I am not opposed to it.
You can reblog memes from me. I do not care.
Extra:
Low activity. I have a job and won’t always have time to reply.
Semi-Selective. I am open to roleplaying with just about anyone, but sometimes I just don’t have interest in the character and/or the fandom they are from.
Crossover and OC friendly. With the multiversal nature of this blog, Aleph can visit any reality, so crossovers are super easy to do. And I love ocs.
I am a shy little meow meow. I may take a bit to warm up to you, but I don’t bite.
ABOUT:
“I’VE BEEN CALLED MANY THINGS BY YOUR KIND. ARTHUR, ALEXANDER, AGAMEMNON… ALAS, I AM ALEPH.”
Tumblr media
Name: Aleph Aliases: Arthur, Alexander, Agamemnon Pronouns: He/Him Alignment: Evil Species: Egregore, or Archangel by humans Epithet: Incarnation of Conquest Age: Eons old Height: 8 feet tall (he’s nearly twice the size of the player in sprite form) Sexuality: Pansexual
Overview:
Aleph is an archangel, who are born from the ideas, dreams, and desires of mankind. As an archangel, Aleph represents the concept of conquest. As such, he has conquered countless realities in the multiverse.
Background:
Long ago, Aleph leads a troupe of archangels alongside his lover, Morgante. Together they subjected countless realities to their dance of conflict. And through this dance, a new archangel was born. From Conquest and Rebellion, Strife was born. Aleph and Morgante named him Mordread and raised him as their son.
For a long time, they enacted the cycle of conflict on unsuspecting worlds. Unfortunately, Mordread stood against his father and Aleph slayed him for it. This fractured Aleph’s troupe of archangels and lead to Morgante’s betrayal.
Morgante trapped her former lover in a backwater reality known as New Wirral. There he spent an untold amount of time searching for a way out.
On New Wirral, Aleph gathered a new team of archangels also trapped within New Wirral to help him escape. This led to Aleph confronted by seven heroes who finally defeated him. Yet, to kill an archangel is to kill the very idea that birthed them. So, for as long as there are humans to kill each other, Aleph will return in one form or another.
VERSES:
Main Verse: Post Cassette Beasts. Aleph has been reborn after his defeat at the hands of the heroes of the game. Note: In canon it would be unlikely that the being who is reborn from Aleph’s core concept would not be Aleph, but this is more fun.
King Arthur Verse: Pre-Cassette Beasts. Aleph is still at the height of his power and his troupe of archangels has yet to disband. Note: I will be more selective with this verse.
Human Verse: Aleph has been reborn as a human and is desperate to return to his former glory as an archangel. Note: Face claim pending.

In Defence of the Ending of Cassette Beasts
I may write a proper essay to elaborate my thoughts on this subject better, but for now, I want to state for the record that I actually like the ending of Cassette Beasts and I think it fits the story and theme of the game.
Yes, it is bittersweet, but it is not a bad thing. A story being happy, sad or bittersweet does not inherently make the ending good or bad; what matters is how well the ending is set up, and how thematically fitting the ending is to the story. In my opinion, the Cassette Beasts ending achieves both.
Cassette Beasts' story has set up from the very beginning that the player character's goal is to find a way to leave New Wirral, and that the people who are living in New Wirral, including all the player character's partners, came from different worlds, with no one knows how to go back to their world until the player character and their party do in the ending. It makes sense that the player character's party expect they may never see each other again, because the game never says if there is a way to contact with someone else from a different world.
Even if you choose to romance a partner, every single romance option points out that you may have to split up when you return to your own worlds during their conversation where you choose to commit a romance with them, but they all also state that despite that, the time you spent together still matters (see my video compilation of the partner romance scenes). Not to mention, every partner has their own life before arriving at New Wirral, and it is neither realistic nor healthy to expect them to give up everything they knew in their world just for one person, even if you are the protagonist. So it makes sense that you and your romance option do not stay together in the ending, but that does not mean there is no point in romancing them.
Morgante says outright during your final battle against Aleph Null that humans have the ability to manifest their will to alter reality, to change the world and themselves, to the extent even cassette tapes are merely talismans to channel that will, which is proven immediately after when the player fuse with all their partners even though their cassette player was broken. Kayleigh echoes Morgante's words in the ending when saying goodbye to the player character that they do not need cassette tapes to manifest their will to change the world. Combined with the partner characters' growth during their time with the player character, the game opens up the hope the party can take what they learn from their time in New Wirral to make their lives better. This is the game's another way to reaffirm that even though you and your partners' stay in New Wirral may not be permanent, it does not mean your time in new Wirral does not matter, and returning to your world does not necessarily mean returning to the status quo either.
Cassette Beasts' story is not a choice-driven narrative (which is not a bad thing since not every game needs to have one); even choosing to pursue a romance with a partner does not change the story and just add some additional dialogue when you rest and a few extra lines in the ending (which is a good thing because I dislike it when the story or a character's "best" ending is locked behind a romance), so I am fine with the lack of option for the player to not returning to their world. That said, there is also an argument to be made that you, the player, choosing to continue to play the game, including the post-game is deciding that you still want to stay in New Wirral. Even Ms. Amber says after you defeat Aleph Null and discover the gateway to leave New Wirral that you do not have to leave right away. In that sense, the game's ending also serves as your farewell to New Wirral as the player.
I do not know if liking the Cassette Beasts ending is an unpopular opinion, because there is a possibility that not liking the ending is a case of vocal minority, but they are still vocal enough that I am compelled to write this post to defend the ending.

In my first playthrough of Cassette Beasts, I deliberately took the time in not only exploring New Wirral, but also completing partner character's quests and maxing out their relationship levels.
You can thank BioWare RPGs for training me to complete companion quests and build relationships with companions as much as possible before heading to the final level of the story, for the extra emotional weight of fighting with your companions you have spent time with.
(Cassette Beasts spoilers below)
My effort in building relationships with the partner characters in Cassette Beasts paid off beautifully and gloriously in the final boss battle. Since my entire party was fully prepared with all their signature monster tapes remastered, all of them contributed to the fight against Aleph Null, even before the entire party fused together to form Morgante Gestalt.
The ending sequence of Cassette Beasts' main story is one of the best in all video games I have played.
