I really wanna know what Carmen’s reaction is gonna be when Sydney tells him that Marcus asked her out. Because as we know, Carmen has NO IDEA why Marcus snapped at Sydney and it was definitely not normal. So when Carmen asks “yo what was that about” and Sydney pulls up with “Marcus uh asked me out.” What will happen then???? What if she doesn’t say anything? What if Marcus tells him? Will Carmen spiral ?
if carmen ever cooked something for sydney intentionally maybe when they’re working on new stuff for the menu and sydney looked at the dish and smiled before digging in then admitted about eating at eleven madison park i think that would make me crack a little.
Or at what moment did you realize they were heading in that direction?
For me, it was S1 ep5 when the episode opens and ends with Syd and Carmy prepping in the kitchen together. And then when she asks him to help her strain the broth and they play that song in the background that says something like "This is how I show you I love you" or something. That's when I realized that the show might be heading in that direction.
When I became a full blown SydCarmy TRUTHER though was the frickin panic attack scene. It's like everything came together for me. All those longing looks, all the tension and passion. It makes sense. Honorable mention goes to when Carmy introduces Claire to Syd. Poetic cinema.
And here the creators expect us not to anticipate a romantic relationship between these two with the trailers thus far 😒 I mean, wearing similar clothing (sweaters), they are cooking and creating menus for the restaurant in his place, talking about budgets together, planning out what the shop will be together, and will eventually create special bond together not only as partners but also a deep friendship.
You don't do all of this together with that type of insync chemistry and not expect things to go down between the two 🤷🏾♀️
I swear I feel like I'm being gaslighted with those interviews telling me its not gonna happen with these two. If they plan not to get them together, Sydney better have her name on that title of that restaurant with all she is doing for his business. That's a lot of effort she is putting in with no huge reward besides being a sous chef.
‘Waiting on a friend’ & ‘you’re my best friend’ really give friend-zone, so I implore them to really consider the messaging.
The Season 2 track list leaves much to be desired in the friend-zone department compared to season 1 the mixed messages 🤨.
Transcendental Blues - Steve Earle
You Are Not Alone - Mavis Staples
Strange Currencies - R.E.M.
Come Back - Pearl Jam
Make You Happy - Tommy McGee
Throw Your Arms Around Me - Neil Finn, Eddie Vedder (during the girlfriend montage with Syd - boombastic side eye)
Thank you guys though the dad rock is right up my alley and Mrs. Mavis Staples I'm now a stan - also iconic Bob Dylan proposed and she rejected.
How do you think Syd and Carmy will realize they have feelings for each other?
Here’s what popped into my mind.
(Forgive me as I am often poor at articulating my thoughts)
Carmy
Carm and Syd are in the kitchen at the Bear.
They are both independently working, kind of like in S2, ep 5. Sydney knocks something over, curses under breath, grabs a broom and dustpan and starts to sweep.
What she knocked over definitely made a big mess. Usually Carmy would jump in to help but instead he just finds himself observing her. He has a slight smile on his face. We then see scenes of Syd and the times they’ve spent together, as though they are racing through Carmy’s mind. And then, like a ding when something is done cooking, we return back to Camry’s face of realization. He realizes “Oh that’s what these feelings have been? I like her?”
Syd snaps him out of it, “Hey you gonna just stand there? Or are you gonna help me?”
Spell broken, he bends down and helps her clean up, unsure of what to do with this new information. Body on fire because of his now close proximity with Syd.
It's "I'm sorry" in sign. Two of my old chefs used to do it. If they were angry, fighting on the line, it helped. It was like their version of "let's talk about this later". Didn't matter if one tore the other one apart, it always got them through service.
