His staff is somewhat sentient, kinda like the soul jam but less powerful. That’s why it closes its eyes whenever PV opens his eyes and vice versa

When he was studying magic in the blueberry yogurt academy, he was quite rebellious, though still very passionate about magic. He would often skip classes to learn magic at his own pace and try to discover new spells

You know how people say that introverts don’t make friends and just get adopted by extroverts? Yeah, he adopted White Lily in that sense

He’s visually impaired, so when he was with Raisin Cookie on the ground, he covered both his eyes and his staff to get more in touch with his other senses

After the Dark Flour War, he followed a similar path as the player does in the game

Some people in nearby communities view him as a religious figure, due to the legends surrounding his kingdom and his ability to heal those around him

Before he was with Raisin on the ground, Custard Cookie III’s grandfather, premier custard cookie, was his second in command

He was very happy to see how bold yet sweet Custard Cookie III was, especially considering the impression that Custard Cookie and Clotted Cream left on him

After Affogato tried to take over the Dark Cacao Kingdom, he visited the kingdom to see if anyone needed help recovering from the events of the final battle

Modern au

He is married to Dark Cacao and lives together with him, along with their children, Caramel Arrow, Dark Choco, and Crunchy Chip

He owns a little florist shop and works part time at a local emergency clinic, and he sometimes will bring in cute plants to comfort nervous patients

He is really good at baking. No matter how obscure the dessert is, he’s most likely memorized it

He makes all of his kids cakes and other baked goods for their birthdays, along with the help of Dark Cacao. Dark Cacao isn’t exactly the best at baking, but Pure Vanilla still appreciates the help

He dabbles in crossdressing and wears makeup often. He sometimes leaves lipstick marks on his husband’s face because of it

He sucks at driving. Dark Cacao jokingly calls him a “passenger princess” because of the way he excitedly sits in the front passenger seat with his fancy insulated water bottle and his legs crossed

He accidentally made friends with Choco Werehound Brute. They met on two online forums, one for crossdressing and another for baking, and became close online friends. They still don’t realize who the other person is

When they were first dating, him and Dark Cacao would have picnics at the national park. They would just sit and talk for most of the time, enjoying each others presence

Dark Cacao fell for Pure Vanilla first, but seeing the soft blush that would form on his now-husbands face when they interacted caused Pure Vanilla’s romantic feelings to hit him like a truck

Where dark choco in his youngest days (20's) have a child and dark cacao never knew about this (choco never had the oportunity) when the strawberry sword jam thing happen he forgot him (let's just say what it's because the cursed sword) the child grown up (in his 18's)

In the dark cacao's part (the ghost/monster thing)when they defeated him caramel found up what reader is the dark choco child (because hc that the soul jam react to family members only) and that how not only dark cacao found up he has a grandson but dark choco remembered him too.

so, first off, this is arranged marriage AND modern au. nothing is going to change EXCEPT that the cookies have technology now. ill possibly use some other tropes while im at it heehoo

dark choco is still a prince, and dark cacao is still king of his kingdom. caramel arrow is from a family that is not nobility, nor part of the court; however, she is the First Watcher, the youngest commander of the watchers to ever hold the position.

normally, the prince would marry the child of a noble family, keeping ties within the court intact. however, because of her performance as First Watcher, caramel arrow's family is sought out by the king, and the prince's hand is extended to her in marriage

this ends up angering the court actually; many of them have eligible sons, daughters, and children the prince could marry, but for reasons i havent fully thought of yet bc im making this up as i go, dark cacao wants caramel arrow to marry dark choco. and of course, her family agrees.

so now we get into choco and cara meeting. they've never actually met each other before! dark choco is the prince, and caramel arrow may be the commander of the watch, but they've never really had any reason to get to know each other. of course, they've heard of each other! they've just never spoken a word to each other.

HOWEVER.

they do know each other online.

they met years ago online, and have been friends online for a long time! neither of them know the other's real name or face; they're both hidden behind pseudonyms and profile pic icons, but they're still very good friends and get along great despite not knowing the other person's name or face. they have a lot of inside jokes and other online friends they share, but they've been friends the longest out of everyone else they're friends with.

over the course of the fic, caramel arrow and dark choco meet in real life and its awkward, and then they turn around and complain to each other online about how awkward it is to not really know your arranged spouse at all. eventually they find out that they're each other's online friend and that they've been talking to each other this ENTIRE time, and it ends up really fluffy and cute ùwú

this could be read romantically, queerplatonically, just platonically and they're married, however you ship them bc im not planning on writing this haha. EITHER WAY, they're cute together

New very simple crk au

Dark Cacao and PV swap places, so almost everything is the same but Dark Cacao sacrificed himself for his friends and Earthbread. Oh, but what's this? He left his young heir behind. Poor thing... he's only a kid!

Hah, I feel like I need to write about the fatherless man except he switches places with Custard Cookie the III. So basically Custard Cookie the III betrayed PV and did something sinister ig? He still has the same personality but he's around Dark Chocos age in game, so I'd give him 25-35 years old while Dark Choco in this AU is a little kid who was forced to flee his kingdom with the help of Affogato Cookie because (as much as it hurts to say this) Caramel Arrow Cookie accepted a deal with Dark forces to help the kingdom keep in good shape. It was in good intentions but since i want to swap a few things around it feels like I should swap Affogato and Caramel Arrow.

Dark Choco isn't wearing a crown and doesn't fully understand that he's royalty, all he knows is that Dark Cacao, his father, is nowhere to be found. I might write more about this but don't worry it'll be not as much as my other AU! I just need the occasional angst to be a little sad over, y'know?

Definitely gonna be a wholesome interaction between White Lily and Dark Choco, Dark Cacao will join the group in disguise. Dark Choco probably gets an army out of cakes since he really likes them and knows what they like. So I imagine Dark Cacao in disguise tries to protect Dark Choco while he's trying to befriend a cake. Dark Choco won't recognize him but will definitely stay near him since he feels drawn to him. Dark Cacao will do as much as he can to protect Dark Choco since he's only a little kid. Sadly neither will recognize the other since Dark Cacao would've had sacrificed himself before his son had grown more. Dark Choco wouldn't be able to have any memory of how his father looks so when Dark Cacao eventually asks he'd say something along the lines of "I don't know, my father had to go when I was really little. But my friend told me that I'll see him again one day! I can't say I know why he left though..." Dark Cacao would look at the poor little cookie who is now looking down at the ground clearly a little sad and disheartened. Dark Cacao would attempt to console the young cookie and tell him that he had never got to see his son grow.

Eventually when they'd get into the Citadel walls when the disguised Dark Cacao would be captured but Dark Choco would follow him, evading capture thanks to Affogato Cookie who got to keep his high status. Both of the two would get him out thanks to Affogato teaching Dark Choco how to be smart and strong, so Dark Choco and Affogato came up with a plan to free Dark Cacao. Then the light of resolution would do the magical anime girl transformation and Dark Cacao would ask questions to Affogato asking things like What happened here, is the kingdom alright, etc. Most importantly he would ask Affogato how he knew this child. Affogato would then question him asking "Do you not recognize him? Seriously, he's almost a spitting image of you my liege!" Dark Choco would look at Affogato Cookie in confusion "Why would he recognize me? We've only been adventuring together, beyond that I don't even know him!" Dark Cacao though about it over and over again in his head until it struck him! He kneeled down to become closer to the young cookie's height "I don't believe I ever got your name or the name of your father young one, would you mind telling me?" Dark Cacao inquired softly as to not intimidate the child. "Oh, Okay! My name is Dark Choco Cookie, this is my friend Affogato Cookie, and my father's name was Dark Cacao Cookie! Why do you ask?" Dark Choco looked into his father's eyes unknowingly. Dark Cacao lit up, he pick up the boy, spinning around and holding his arms and hugged him, Dark Cacao Cookie shed a few tears while holding Dark Choco. Dark Choco was so confused and was wondering what was happening. Dark Cacao, still holding tight onto the young cookie with no intent of letting go unless nesacary said in-between tears "I missed you so much... son"

Ok I'm rlly tired so uh yeah I might write abt this after I'm done with the first au

Since I don't think I'll get to show rather than tell (Either through child M!A or someone straight up sending asks for his childhood verse), I figured I might as well make a post about how Dark Choco was when he was younger- specifically as a child up to when he was a young adult.

He was one of those really quiet kids who you could easily forget was there if you weren't looking for him, rarely speaking or audibly crying, though that's not to say he never cried. This would mainly happen when Dark Choco was overstimulated, whether it be by attention from lots of people or lots of noise, forcing the Watchers to only watch him in shifts. Smiles were a little more common, but still rare.

He also had a tendency to pick someone to follow around or wander off by himself (there was one particularly infamous instance where Dark Choco had managed to slip out of the Citadel and into the snowfield, only to be found and brought back by Frost Queen herself (or taken away by Sugar Glass in Surrogate AU)).

As a teenager, he became a little more outspoken, picking up traits from both Caramel Arrow and Crunchy Chip as he was raised alongside them. He'd begun to learn how to use a sword at this point. This was also when he began feeling apprehension towards Dark Cacao, as he could actually meet and talk to the Cacaoians who came looking for his father's help.

Dark Choco would even sometimes try to slip out again so he could assist them himself, but he was too inexperienced and rarely succeeded without help. Watchers often had to come to his rescue.

Approaching young adulthood, Dark Choco began to piece together a personality based off the Watchers and Hollyberry in order to mask his real personality and become more "heroic". This was when he began actively arguing with his father about sending out the Watchers to help their people and generally began internalizing the need to be seen as "strong".

It wasn't long until he tracked down and left to retrieve Bloodcaller, and the rest is history.

Ok! So the King Dark Choco AU in more detail:

Chapter 13 + oddysey spoilers!!

It all starts off when Affogato Cookie becomes Dark Cacao's assistant or whatever he is. Dark Choco (who didn't take the cursed sword in this au) goes off on an adventure/an expedition/whatever, not important, and Affogatto takes advantage of this. By coincidence, while he was gone, the CoD(cookies of darkness) goes to attack the citadel in search of DCacao's souljam and team up with Affogato to overthrow him.

Together they manage to push Cacao over the bridge (like cannon DChoco did), but unfortunately for them, Cacao did not tell them the location of the souljam. Dark Choco returns a while later and finds out that his father is supposedly dead and the kingdom is being ruled by some dumbass and the CoD were looking for the souljam. Luckily, Cacao told Choco the location of the souljam in case something like this happens. He took the sword and with the help of Caramel Arrow and the main squad, he manages to take back the throne and scare the CoD away.

The watchers searched the whole kingdom in search of the king, but nor he or his body were ever found. With Choco being the only descendant of Dark Cacao, he takes the throne and rules over the kingdom.

Eventually, he(formerly meant for Cacao) get's an invitation to the council. He shows up in the Vanilla Kingdom, at first he gets mistaken for his father since they're so similar now, but it clears up after a while. The ancients are distraught to hear of Cacao's demise, but Choco reassures them that there is a chance he's still alive.

Then comes Clotted Cream Cookie. At first, Choco seemed a little suspicious of him, since he came uninvited, but Choco eventually warms up to him when he sees how happy Pure Vanilla is seeing that some Vanillians survived the war. Then the souljams were brought up (I haven't made it to that part yet but I'm coming off of spoilers I've seen so forgive any inaccuracies). Choco wasn't really on board with Cream's idea, since the souljam wasn't his and the way Cream started clowning on White Lily seemed to paint him like a villain.

Aaand that's as far as I got, might do a part two as I get farther into the story. Thanks for the Ask <3

Cacao Headcanon Dump (mainly for ecastily lmao.)

I posted this right before my first period class on 4/1/22 lmao (I'm gonna date some of my stuff so no one has to fight to find the date in the settings thank me later)

Cacao shivers when he's upset and becomes less vocal until comforted or allowed to force his emotions down. His shivers can be temporary at the beginning of him feeling sad, or can last throughout the entire time he is sad. He doesn't cry much, but when he does, he absolutely spills his guts everywhere. Anyone who will listen, he'll tell them everything. A simple 'What's wrong?' Ans he'll start talking for quite a while. He appreciates it when someone will sit down with him in a quite room and take in his side, patch him up when he shows them his proverbial wounds.

Cacao is part of a small group of Cookies who love to be pet like cats, and purr when such is done. He is superbly insecure about this and is afraid he'll be seen as weak for melting so readily at attention given to him. His purring is rich and deep. Get under his chin and his arms will fall limp. Absolute bliss. He will smile and just relax,, resigning himself to the affections. Few Cookies are tall enough to get there, and he trusts few Cookies enough to bend down and let them. The Cookies on the list of those he will let pet him, in my AUs... Dark Choco, Espresso, Caramel Arrow, Red Velvet, Licorice, Pure Vanilla, and Hollyberry. Cacao is so touch starved that he melts under the affections of those he trusts almost the instant he is shown said affection. He lights up like a Christmas tree, will purr the entire time, and with Pure Vanilla, might beg for more.

Both Cacao and his son have sensory sensitivities stemming from a mental disorder. They have roughly the same general spectrum of disorders, and shut down in a similar way. However, Cacao does not allow himself to shut down. He will bite and claw at himself to stop himself from shutting down, not allowing himself to let his guard down for even a moment.

Cacao is a massive cuddlebug and an absolute sweetheart. He was open about this when he was younger and not a king, but it was practically beaten out of him gradually as the settlement grew and he took charge of it. His desire to protect them and belief that he was one of the best Cookies to do so caused him to adopt a less emotional stance. He was praised for his strength. Both directly and indirectly, other Cookies stifled his big heart until it was hardly there anymore, and he normally thinks less of himself for allowing himself to love and be loved openly.

However.

This is all BEFORE my AU stuff has occurred.

Afterwards?

Post the dark part of my AU, Cacao has reunited with his son and has left responsibility for the kingdom on the Watchers and the citizens themselves while he rests and heals with his family, most of which consists of adopted Cookies. In this AU, he has been married to Pure Vanilla since well before the main protagonists were baked, and the two kings spent as much time together as they could afford to. They were and still are deeply in love with another, taking care of each other as best they can. Pure Vanilla uses his powers to ease Cacao's nasty morning pains as well as comfort him through his trauma. They dote on each other to a point that it's obscene in private. Pets, kisses, gentle caresses, hugs, and snuggles. Cacao has opened up entirely to his family and servants, along with somewhat more to the public. He seldom allows himself to be petted in public, though.

After he has opened up, though, he is relatively calm and easygoing until allowed the opportunity to be sweet. Also in this AU, he has a secret ingredient in his dough that he conceals from others: Chocolate syrup. There's so much of it that it subtly tints his jam brown.

Small sweet headcanon: He picks up small children and will comfort them until a family member comes to pick them up. He normally does this outside the Black Citadel, but sometimes does it inside the Citadel. It has earned him a muted reputation of a kindred spirit, only believed in select few communities.

Another sweet headcanon: You can't tell me that what little time Cacao spent with his son wasn't precious. He would expel all of the servants from the castle so no one would be able to witness Cacao getting into a tickle fight with his young son. Only a few servants were allowed to hang around, and they never told a soul outside of Cacao's inner circle, for fear of his wrath.

Do you ever think about Caramel Arrow and Dark Choco getting married and having children together?

Caramel Arrow Cookie Headcanons

In game

Dark Cacao is the one who taught her archery. Being his top royal guard, he felt it was important for her to be as versatile and agile as she was strong and protective

She was a thief as a kid. Nothing too crazy, just a quick snack here, a tiny weapon there, just enough to keep her alive before Dark Cacao took her in. How else do you think she knows all the secret ways to get into the kingdom?

One time while she was exploring the kingdom, she accidentally fell into the licorice sea. This is how Dark Cacao found her and why he decided to adopt her

She knew Dark Choco for a short time before he picked up the strawberry jam blade and turned evil. Even though she didn’t know what happened until it was already done, she still wishes she could’ve done something

Crunchy Chip’s cream wolves absolutely love her. Whenever her and Crunchy Chip hang out together, she immediately gets tackled by a few of them

She’s very good at first aid. She’s been injured several times in fights and got hurt a lot as a kid, so she’s learned how to tend to wounds quickly over the years

She loves Raisin Cookie. They bonded over their loyalty to their respective kingdoms and the pain they’ve endured because of it, and eventually they developed feelings for each other from it

She built her own bow. After Dark Cacao started training her, she realized she needed a more adaptable weapon and created the twin daggers that can be connected together to form her bow

She actually trusted Affogato Cookie at first, but then she saw him planning out his true intentions and he did the whole secret villain monologue in front of her and she realized then how evil he truly was

Modern au

She was adopted by Pure Vanilla and Dark Cacao when she was just a baby. She has no idea who her biological parents are and has zero interest in finding them

She’s currently dating Raisin. They trained together at a police station for a while, but then Caramel Arrow decided that it just wasn’t her thing and got a job at the national park instead

Her and Crunchy Chip hike together a lot. Crunchy Chip constantly talks her ear off about all the different important things to consider when surviving in the wild, and she’s actually learned a lot of important things from him

She loves boba, but hates the boba pearls at the bottom of the drink. Whenever her and Raisin go out for boba, she suffers through the first few pearls and then just throws out whatever didn’t get sucked up in the actual tea

She has a secret love for kpop. Her father is fluent in Korean, so she ended up stumbling upon it and fell in love with it

Just like her father, she is fluent in Korean

She’s currently learning French from Pure Vanilla. All she can say right now is “Bonjour, ça va bien?” But she’s learning more very quickly

She loves archery and rock climbing. She never participated in any school sports but constantly goes to public gyms and athletic centers to practice

She’s really good at paintball
