WHAT A WEEK!! . This week has been non-stop! From kids going back to school full time, to celebrating my Wedding Anniversary (thanks so much for all of the love on that photo!), to then celebrating my firstborn turning 21!! Which I am still in total denial about! 🤣 Then yesterday consisted of trying to fix our broken washing machine and catching up on blog work. No rest for the wicked! But it has been a great one! Great food, lots of laughter, maybe one to many glasses of southern comfort 😅 but it was fun! . And this morning? I'm off out to work with the birds! My mother was so excited today when it finally stopped raining and we got to go out and really explore the streets of Xiamen, China. Before we arrived here a few days ago (after a few stressful days of travel), I knew almost nothing about the city except that it was relatively warm in the winter, and that it had made a big impression on my mother. She had spent time here as a child in a military family that moved around a lot, and returned often in the years that followed, especially in her teenage years when she lived here with her family. She couldn't wait to show her daughter and her granddaughter around one of her favorite cities. . It's changed a lot since she was last here in the 70s, so it was a new experience for her as well. Lisa's favorite part was the street in this picture, decorated with many cats. I hope that when Lisa grows up I can have the joy of taking her (and maybe my own granddaughter) to see a place that filled me with wonderful memories. . Self care 🧖‍♀️ Looking after yourself should not (ever) be put on the back burner. I've been guilty of putting myself last FOR YEARS but not anymore. It took me a very long time to realise that I can't possibly look after everyone if I'm not looked after myself. So lately, I've been learning to leave certain things until later and to do things for me. Whether that be a workout session, a hot bath, watching an episode of a show or even a wee cup of tea. What I'm trying to say is, don't weigh yourself down with housework and the demands of everyone else. Learn to say "wait" or even "no" and take time out for yourself.
