I made myself a cape to wear around the apartment in the winter

I drafted a yoke for the shoulder bit because I didn't feel like dealing with shoulder darts. The main body of the cape was drafted by repurposing my circle skirt pattern.

It's dramatic and swishy and made from a heavy wool coating, lined in a bit of floral cotton sateen that I had juuuust enough of in my stash:

I actually made this cape over 2 months ago for #Captember2022 but never got around to taking pictures because work was busy. At least I finally figured out how to photograph anything that goes past my waist in my bathroom mirror. (I'm standing on a chair. That's my solution. Hence why I didn't take any photos or videos of the cape swooshing, because I didn't want to fall off the chair.)

Overall a fun, low stress project that took less than a week to complete. And it keeps me warm in the winter because I'm a lizard and can't function when the room is colder than 76 F. Next time I'll probably add arm slits in the front so I can use my hands without inviting cold air into my bubble.

Remember when I said I will have zero spare time next month and probably shouldn't be participating in #Capetember 2022 but I was probably going to do it anyway?

Well this is the current state of my living room...

Yep, I'm going to try to self-draft and hand sew an entire cape, with zero prior cape making experience. While I will be working 80 hours a week running the inpatient hospital service, starting next week and for the next 5 weeks 🤦‍♀️
