Finished this sweater for my cousin. The pattern is the Sideways Pullover from Norah Gaughan's Knitted Cable Sourcebook. The main yarn is 100% wool (Cascade 220 in Hunter Green); the collar lining is baby camel/silk handspun by my aunt.
just realized that the people of tumblr have not yet been exposed to 99% of my finished objects since they were only posted to instagram. this needs to be rectified effective immediately.
for my first offering: the snowdrift mittens by wool and pine
Local man finds out that its website that makes knitting patterns actually creates much harder patterns than intended because it's a beginner
So, I make this cable knitting site (explained in this post) after just barely learning how to cable. I figure out 2x2 knitted cables and the rest on my own
And then, after looking at a tutorial to send to someone wanting to learn I see this
My guys, my friends, my pals my patterns have some kind of cables going on in every row
I both knit and purl the cables as needed and I don't find any of them to be more difficult than the other so I didn't realise this was a thing
Is this website wrong or are my patterns just more difficult than I intended them to be?
Edit: I'm aware that the site is incorrect about the leaning direction (you always hang it the same for the front or back regardless of what side you're working on) I was more curious about how common wrong side cables were and if they're actually beginner friendly or not
Finished the cowl, moving on to the Montgomery mittens by Jen Lucas to go with. Playing yarn chicken with this one, so I didn’t do a full cuff and omitted the first pattern repeat, instead going straight to the thumb gusset.
I’ve been slowly plugging away at knitting a vest for my sister and it’s finally starting to feel like A Real Garment albeit still very much in progress.
I adore the cables but cabling makes my hands so tired so quickly so this one is going veeeerrrrryyyy slowly. Especially since this is a really dense and wiry yarn. Which is honestly perfect for the pattern but oh, the hand cramps will get me!
I’m making the Outlandish Bodice pattern (it’s free on ravelry!) and using Briggs and Little Regal for the yarn.
My goal is to knit one cable repeat each day until I finish this section.
Supposedly, it will look like this when it’s done

Ive been working on this shawl for over a year because I keep putting it down to work on other projects. I swore I would finish it before I start anything else, but the amount of time these cables are taking me may actually kill me dead 💀
